When club-hopping bad girl Tiara Kent is found dead in her plush Manhattan apartment, the killing has all the earmarks of a vampire attack. The ever-practical Lieutenant Eve Dallas has to deal with superstitious cops carrying garlic and stakes, as well as the ever-hysterical press. None of the wealthy young victim's friends seem to know much about the Dark Prince she has been secretly seeing. The chase to stop him before he kills again will lead Eve and her team into areas of the city that not even the most intrepid cop wants to visit, and into the very heart of darkness.

Eternity in Death is one of Robb's shorter novellas in the series - only 93 pages -but those pages were action packed and full of the usual In Death goodness.

There is a bit of the supernatural in this story although Eve soon dispels any of that with her usual pragmatism. Peabody on the other hand provides lots of humour with her requests for garlic, silver crosses and wooden stakes. And of course Roarke is there backing Eve all the way even when she puts herself in danger which of course he hates.

I am not normally a fan of novellas but J.D. Robb knows how to bring them home! Short but sweet - I really enjoyed it!

This was a great IN DEATH novella. Detective Eve Dallas is investigating a killer who drains his victims of blood through puncture wounds in the neck and runs a seedy club in the underground of New York that sensationalizes vampires. This one was especially creepy.

For Eve Dallas is all protect and serve even if in this novella the victims are exsanguinated through a two pronged wound through the carotid artery. A vampire bite. Very interesting.

Part of the collection of In Death short stories Time of Death. Eternity in Death is a short story about a party girl, Tiara, who wanted eternal beauty and life and thought she had found a way to achieve it. When she is found dead in her apartment is appears that she was done in by a vampire attack. Eve is having nothing to do with that and sets about finding the nutjob who killed her and drained her blood. The path leads to a deep underground club, Bloodbath, and a man who presents himself as the Dark Prince. A Dark Prince who takes a fancy to Eve.

This short story was a great way to pass a spring afternoon. Eve has to deal with the feelings about her father that Dorian brings to the surface. The same evil malevolence Eve knew her father had, is present in Dorian. Roarke, bless him, has to bide his time and let Eve play this one out.

4 stars - Romantic Suspense/Futuristic/Mystery/Crime/Romantic Thriller

This was a great novella!

"Eve Dallas, Vampire Slayer. One for the books."

Light killed shadows, and it created them. But what loved the dark would always scuttle back from the light. Her badge had given her the light, Eve knew. Then Roarke had simply, irreversibly, blasted that light straight through her.

This was a really good example of an In Death novella done well-- we get a fair amount of the series' signature character work alongside a nicely focused little mystery with just enough bumps in the road to keep things interesting

This was one of those novellas that could have been a full-length book. It had a compelling villain and a lot of potential to be meatier. But for a short, it was great.

A socialite is found...dead from exsanguination. Lt. Eve Dallas and Detective Delia Peabody are called to the scene. Tiara Kent looked peaceful if it wasn't for the two holes in her neck. Is there a vampire on the lose? Eve and company infiltrate an underground club called "Bloodbath" to look for clues.

This is a short story in the In Death series. My rating: 4 Stars.

I think this is the first book in this series that hasn't mentioned the busy streets of New York and the smell of grilling soy dogs.

This short In Death novella, was original, with its vampire related theme. I enjoyed seeing Eve and her team solve a case in this quick book.

Eternity In Death is a novella available either as an individual ebook, or, as a bind up in print or ebook, that also includes the novella Haunted in Death. I read it as part of the bind up but I'm reviewing both stories separately as I'm reading the whole In Death series in order and read these stories weeks apart.

This novella sees Eve investigating the murder of a wealthy socialite who died after spending time at an underground nightclub called Bloodbath. The fact that she died of exsanguination with two puncture wounds to her neck has everyone joking about vampires but the charismatic and creepy club owner just adds to the weird vibe around the case.

I love these extra In Death stories, it's always funny to see how the ever logical Eve acts to cases with potential supernatural elements, especially when those around her seem much more willing to believe in the impossible. The murderer here is very skilled at creating a spectacle but Eve knows exactly what she's got to do to catch him in the act.

What's the price of eternal youth ?

The body of a young woman is found with two bites and drained from its blood. The vampire j0kes doesn't take long to come to mind for Eve Dallas' coworkers because the lieutenant is far too practical to believe in these nonsense. It's still a weird case with circumstances like they've never seen before but even with all that Eve already experienced in her work, the villain still gave her the chills and she'll take a big risk to trap the murderer.

I'm a fan of the In Death series and I read more than the some forty books but it's only recently that I began to read the novellas and I must say I didn't expect to appreciate them as much as the regular books but I'm so glad I was wrong. Eternity in Death was particularly good because of the playing between reality and fiction and it showed a different side of Eve that we doesn't see often. It's always fascinating to see how she think and how she'll trap the culprit.

A short book - one of the '.5' novella books in the series - not even sure how many of them there are. I listened to the audible - JD/Nora is very lucky that she has Susan Eriksen as a narrator - she is excellent.

A little bit far-fetched, maybe, with a 'vampire' theme ... not really my thing.

Roarke and Eve - seriously, what's not to love about them?

“You haven’t read the marriage handbook, footnotes. It’s another woman who does that sort of thing. I believe I’m allowed to be more blunt, then ask if you’d like a quick shag.”

“Shag yourself,” she said and made him laugh. “But thanks anyway.”

“Offer’s always on the table.”

“Yeah, yeah, and the floor, in the closet, or on the front stairs. Time to work, ace, not to play.”

Eternity in Death
5 Stars

It is very rare for me to give such a high rating to a novella, but Eternity in Death is more than worthy.

The dark and disturbing nature of the underground club scene creates a spine tingling atmosphere, which is only strengthened by a villain so evil and twisted that he makes one's skin crawl.

The intensity of the final scenes is literally breathtaking, and there are moments that one truly fears for Eve, not physically as it is clear that she survives, but mentally as she is forced to face her deepest fears once again.

Roarke is, as always, a rock that Eve can rely on, and their relationship is constantly growing and strengthening. Looking forward to the next full length installment.

I did not care for the vampire thing and kind of brought the novella down for me.

#24.5 in the In Death series

Another winner in this wonderful series. This is a brief episode following the death of a rich young woman who seemingly died from a vampire bite. When they delve into the underground club called Bloodbath, they discover a whole different world of people who believe in this strange cult. Dorion is a charismatic leader who reminds Eve of her father. Appearances by all of our favorite members of the team.

This is one of the shorter novellas I've read. It was still pretty good. Obviously (well to me it was), we know who did it right off the bat. I love Peabody's reaction to all this stuff. She always makes me laugh. Roarke was involved right from the start as well. I mean who am I kidding. I love all these characters. The fact that I'm still into this series, floors me some days, but I can't get enough of this crew. Eve and Roarke are my go-to couple.
