Splitting Images

Rate this book
Have you ever looked in the mirror and seen a slight imperfection? Maybe the colors in your eyes were different; maybe your movements were slightly off; or maybe just for a second you weren't even there. Doing a double-take you realize everything is fine. But maybe everything wasn't; maybe your reflection is tired of following your every movement; maybe your own image is trying to split from you; maybe it is time for them to live your life.

Winning a contest to live in the prestigious MS Mansion for 3 months, the Matthews family find themselves locked in a world where their reflections are attempting to take control. As reflections of each family member are brought together into one world; mother, father, brother and sister find it difficult to trust one another. But what they find even more difficult is to trust the person they see in the mirror.

I have been writing since I was 14 years old. Even at that age I had searched for ideas that differ from the norm of our society. I wanted my readers to know that when they pick up my books they will know it is something unique and never been done before. On top of being unique I wanted it to keep you at the edge of your seat and keep you flipping pages. My philosophy is that you should only be able to put down a book if something drastic causes you to do so. A book should keep you entwined in the pages from beginning to end, and there are not enough books like that. I hope I become the author I have searched for since I was a child and I hope you enjoy my novel. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B009ZTCGZ4/

Genre wise I think this fits nicely into horror.
The writing is a tad awkward and displaced. It could do with some editing for style, flow and things like repetitive sentences in the same paragraphs.
The horror was mixed with some fairly uncomfortable scenes that depicted child abuse. To be quite frank I found some of the violence against children gratuitous in the graphic detail.
That however is just how those scenes made me feel, which doesn't mean it will be the same for any other reader.
Although the concept was interesting I felt that the end product didn't reflect that excellent idea. The story felt very confusing at times, many scenes were prolonged with superfluous details or conversations. It felt as if the author lost sight of that initial idea of the two worlds and got lost in the dynamics of, senseless torture and often unbelievable family relationships.
I received a free copy of this book for my review.

It seems that this is Gabriel Lugo's first book, and, as such, he tells a good story, but it's not well executed. Throughout the entire book, I felt as if the author was just telling me what was happening instead of letting me enter the story and get caught up in it for myself. There were several editing mistakes that were jarring enough to make me stop and re-read whole paragraphs. This book has a lot of promise, and, with the help of a good editor, could be really good. I recieved a free copy for review and will watch for the next offering from this author.

I refuse to finish this book. I received a free copy and the story idea sounded different and intriguing. It needed editing, corrections, and a better understanding of architecture to give the whole fantastical mansion thing credibility. There is a good story in there, but this book needs a lot more work.
