Slackermedia is documentation providing the information a user will need to create a full multimedia studio from a Slackware base install. Inspired by Linux-From-Scratch, it is intended to be a "distro from text"; a do-it-yourself Linux studio beginning with installing Slackware and ending with what we will call "Slackermedia" with all the custom-compiled and configuration of only the best in multimedia content creation tools that Linux offers and the user requires to achieve their artistic goals.
As is often the case with books that I myself have written, I rather liked this book. It's a technical manual that covers setting up a multimedia studio on Slackware Linux. In other words, it's exactly the process I go through when configuring my own computers for the stuff that I do professionally in the multimedia world (studio and location photography, video editing, compositing, audio correction, etc; working at a film production facility, I tend to do a little bit of everything as long as it involves digital images or sound).
The book also covers, in-depth, how to use Qtractor, the Digital Audio Workstation, and Kdenlive, the video editor. The best part about all of this is that it's free and non-commercial, so if you're anti-corporate / anti-consumerist, then this book, and Linux in general, is definitely something you should check out.
