In December 2012, legendary British violinist, composer and conductor Sir Stani Moss and his American-born wife Emily will gather with their family, friends and neighbors at Valley Rise Farm to celebrate the Christmas holiday, as they have done for most of the past forty years.
It wouldn't be Christmas at Valley Rise without plenty of good company, good food and good music, and, of course, a little romance. This year, as in many of those before, there's also the promise of snow and a miracle or two in the air.

This book was a sweet love story, but it drove me nuts. I know they're gathering family for Christmas, but I kept getting lost at first because there were too many characters tossed into the mix at once. I had to go back and forth a time or two to figure out who was who. Then there's a character named Stacy (female) and Stani (male). I was so confused.
The story itself was okay. The email formatting could have been left out, that drove me crazy, too. Every time they had an email to each other, you got the time, date, email address....etc. Too much crap.
This is a touching holiday story about finding forgiveness and new beginnings, family and faith. Two young people who have basically grown up together figure out that their friendship is more than that. When a mishap threatens their newly budding relationship, they find comfort and wisdom from their families.
I really liked meeting Staci and Carter, in this, their story. They are young, but also wiser than their years in some ways. Although, like any new adult, they suffer doubts and uncertainties. I loved the feeling of Carter's large family and how all the young cousins gravitated towards him and the "fun" one.
The story is well written and kept this reader engaged. There were a few typos, but it didn't detract from the flow of the story.
I felt a bit lost not having the backstory on this holiday romance. There were so many characters and their relationships were on the odd side. Were these people family or employers/employees? I also was kind of annoyed at the misunderstanding at the beginning. That said, I appreciated that it was sweet and clean and had Christian themes.
A little too sugary sweet for me, but it was very cute. Staci and Carter are friends from childhood and after a long misunderstanding realize that they have fallen in love. For some reason that I don't really understand (maybe I'm selfish) she tells him they have to pretend to be just friends until after Christmas. So they email each other in secret.
If you are looking for a sweet holiday romance this will be right up your alley!
A cute little fluffy read. A few too many characters for my taste, I had a hard time keeping them all straight. A little drama-rama...but a cute and clean fluff read if you are in the mood for a Christmas book without too much depth.
A beautiful way to hold Christmas in your heart. . . Strong Christian beliefs and the true meaning of acceptance and being humble shines through this country home story. . .
This is an old fashioned story. There are multiple generations all converging on a farmhouse for the Holidays. The characters are all well defined. Sweet clean romance.
Heartwarming story of the journey from friendship to love of two young people. I enjoyed the emails they sent back and forth and the obstacles encountered.

"Christmas at Valley Rise" by Karen Welch was a wonderful Christmas story for the Moss family. This author has continued this novel with her series: Miracle at Valley Rise which are all so well written. I really love this read of the families are coming together at the farm house at Valley rise to celebrate Christmas where you will find all ages of people. This is a holiday read of hope, healing and a couple that will find a happy ending.
Along with the Moss family and many others... we will find problems such as:
"there is the new wife of a widowed father who is not accepted by his grown-up son; a young woman who always had her future neatly mapped out in front of her suddenly begins to think there might be something else waiting for her; a single mother finds her job both challenging and rewarding at the same time, and is too proud to accept any one's help; and there is a romance between one of the Moss boys with the girl living at the caretaker's cottage."
Now when this all comes out how will this author bring it all out the readers? My favorite part was how this author was able to show how the two young lovers were able to put it all on the computer through (emails) showing each ones feeling of how they felt toward each other. I will not say anymore...just pick up "Christmas at Valley Rise" to see for yourself how well written this novel is. This was so beautifully done! The characters were so unique being well developed and indeed colorful only helping to bring us a amazing good read. This will definitely be one of those novel that will be hard to put down until the very end.
So, if you are looking for a clean sweet read that will put a smile on your face this holiday season ... I would definitely recommend to you as a good read.
I found this book as a stand-alone Christmas story, and as such, it is a good one. However, I enjoyed the characters, and kept wondering if there were a backstory, so I was glad to find at the end links to several earlier stories, centering on the grandparents in this story. In is set in rural Virginia with contemporary characters, which is not usually my period, but a good story is timeless, and this one works. I'm looking forward to reading more about this family of talented, and loving, musicians.
More a novella length about two twenty year olds which was an ok read for me. I had some difficulty relating to a family that all of the members were professional musicans; but that may have been me being ignorant of this profession. The young couple were cute in their innocence.
A sweet love story. The Moss family unite for a family Christmas on the farm. Some exciting things happen with one couple and another announce their feelings for each other. I got this free on my Kindle and hoped it would help me get in the mood for Christmas and it helped.
A simply lovely, love story! Welch writes a feel-good, wish it was me type of love story - not to mushy, just right. It would be a good choice for teen readers also. The story is even better because it has the Christmas theme!
This was a slow paced sweet romance, about getting second a chance at love. How a tiny mistake made HUGE communication error and could have altered both their lives forever, but forgiveness goes along way to mend broken hearts.
I read too many books since january but this one stand out of many, it was a very sweet and romantic read, i loved the characters, i love the music themed story and it was good, so good. Go and give it a try, this was a great romance book, very well written.
A DNF for me. I simply got bored. I will pretty much read any romance from clean and sweet to straight up dirty hot, but it needs to keep my attention and this one wasn't to my taste. Written well, just bored.
This was an awesome story. Note sure if there is another one that follows, but since this one ended sort of up in the air, I am going to look to see if it is a series.
This book was a nice read. I read it because it was a Christmas story and didn't ha e high expectations but it was a very good book with good storylines.
