It doesn't help that the hot Secret Service agent assigned to guard her has become the only person she can speak to.
Will Larissa remain true to her promise to wait for Chase? Will Chase finally put his love for Larissa before his career?
New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Cassia Leo grew up in California and has lived in three different countries. She loves to travel and her dream is to one day score a record deal based on her awesome shower singing skills. She is the author of the Shattered Hearts series (Relentless, Pieces of You, Bring Me Home). She is also the author of the popular Luke and Chase series.
A very quick read in a 4 part mini series, which seemed to add up to less than any book I usually read. I read it last night in less than 3 hours. Not my cup of tea, but if you like lots and lots of sex with no depth then this is for you. I don't know what kept me reading...I think because there were a bunch of great reviews so I was trying to get into the story, but I really wasn't all that entertained.
So basically it begins with Larissa Jacobs who just accepted a job as an escort for high end/high profile celebrities. Her first client is presidential candidate Chase Underwood who hand-selected her and immediately falls for her. From the very beginning it was not believable for me. I'm sorry to say I did not like Cassia Leo's writing style at all. First, they immediately began and never ended with a ton of sex. I felt like I didn't get to know either character at all. He told her he loved her way too soon and again, I felt absolutely no depth to the story. This was my first mini-series so maybe that's how they are???
***SPOILER***
Another reason I didn't like it was because I think the writing was supposed to be humorous at times, but I didn't find it funny at all. Her inner monologues in the beginning was not funny to me, a bit annoying to be honest. Continuing the story, he hires her for his campaign and keeps her as his lover while he is married to another woman (just a business deal) and they are of course, forbidden to be together...then he wins the election but no sooner does he resign from the presidency to be with her. Sounds choppy because it was. I hate to give bad reviews. I appreciate the fact that the authors put tons of work into these books, but it just wasn't for me.
I just finished reading Chase by Cassia Leo! I have to say, I am a total fan after that!! A review is to come but for you all that love steamy, roller coaster, OMG reads...this is definitely one to check out!!
Ok and now for my review!!
5-steamy-thrilling-loving-stars!!
I had heard a lot of great things about Cassia Leo's writing so I was pretty excited to dive into Chase's Series on my brand new kindle! Boy am I glad that I picked this one up!
Larissa and Chase have an amazing dynamic and their love making is just pain hot. They're chemistry is perfect. There is something about secrets and sneaking around that is so sexy and intriguing and the author captured it perfectly!
Chase is a clean cut politician who is a controlling lover that just made my heart race!
If you like to read porn and instant gratification, this book is for you. But, if you are one of those that like to have a back story and little by little fell in love with the characters this book is not for you. To be honest I could not wait for the book to finish, there were some cheese stuff that had me rolling my eyes in disbelieve. Anyway, it was ok, not sure if I'll read the other one.
"I've never met anyone as fiercely loyal and trusting and beautiful as you, Larissa. I want the world to know not just that I love you but that you love me, because that's what makes me the luckiest bastard in the world"
First let me start by saying, the reason I read this was because I just finished the Luke Series by Cassia Leo and I had to read this also. These series are great, they are really quick reads but only because you get sucked in from the first sentence and don't put it down until its over.
Larissa is in her early 20's and moved to L.A. to become an actress. After not getting her big break she picks up small side jobs. After losing her last job as a children's party entertainer, she resorts to becoming an escort for Black Tie Escorts where her roommate worked for 3 year. The only reason she takes the job is because if she doesn't start doing something she won't be able to pay for her student loans, debt and even rent.
She knew her first day at work was going to be someone with a high profile client but she didn't expect it to be Chase Underwood, the 39 year old Senator, Presidential Candidate and MARRIED Chase Underwood!
She quickly finds herself as his new Personal Assistant for his Campaign with LOTS of benefits...and I can't stress the work LOTS enough!
"When life hands you a precious gift, wrapped in a flashy bow, sometimes it turns out to be a boxful of lemons"
With Chase being such a high profile person, their "relationship" has to remain a secret. With reporters and journalists everywhere, someone is bound to figure something out.
Chase and Larissa's odds of being able to stay together don;t look good....is their love for each other strong enough to last??
Chase was so sweet. You want him to have everything and even though you want to yell...JUST GIVE IT UP FOR HER...you know he can't do that. Not just anyone can get the chance to run for president. He deserves to get what he wants and has worked for 10 years to get also. It is all just so bitter sweet!
Also, let me tell you...this book was H.O.T., hot, hot, hot!!! Chase....a VERY generous man!
Oh, I can't forget to mention Drew...He is a secret service agent that is always with Larissa and oh boy, I fell for that man!! YUUMMMMMY!!!
The entire series is told in Larissa's POV. I would have loved to hear what Chase was thinking in a few parts but it really didn't change by opinion at all.
Cassia Leo really captivates her readers from the start! She has a full length novel coming out soon called Relentless and I must say, I will be reading that the day its out, CAN NOT WAIT!!!
I wont be casting this one on my own because all the covers show pictures and I really like them as the characters...they are perfect!!
The first part of Chase was okay so I continued reading but from the second part on it was just plain bad. Sorry, I really liked Relentless so I thought I'd try something else by Cassia Leo, but this obviously wasn't the right thing for me.
I like fantasy books but I don't like totally fantasy-like, unrealistic plots in my contemporary (erotic) romance books.
I also think Larissa is a classic doormat character.
I thought that the whole book was illogical and unrealistic, with dumb, idiotic characters. I really didn't like Chase.

I Love You" nya Chase.
How that's ridiculous.
Banyak adegan2 konyol dan menggelikan namun sama sekali tidak lucu dan tidak masuk akal. Seperti ketika Chase dan Larissa bergumul hot di limosine (sepertinya mencontek adegan Gideon di Bared to You nya Sylvia Day). Ada lagi adegan Plan A yg merencanakan bahwa Larissa memberikan keterangan konferensi pers bahwa dia "menyangkal" affair dgn Chase tapi dia punya skandal dgn Teddy, juru kampanye Chase. Konyolnya lagi, Teddy dibilang ada affair dgn Katherine, istri sah Chase. What the fuck! Dan paling menggelikan adalah adegan siaran langsung penyangkalan Larissa ttg affairnya dgn Chase dan balik menuding si reporter kenamaan yg Larissa bilang suka mengedarkan berita2 menghebohkan tanpa saksi2 yg bisa dipercaya. Hello Larissa!!!!!

Chase series is made up of 4 ahort stories. Larissa Jacobs, is 24 & an unemployed actress & finds herself in deep debt after her plans for her life just don't seem to workout. After accepting her room mates offer to help her get a new job as an escort, she gets her first client. Chase Underwood, is a Senator & the front running favourite for the next President of the USA. This could be tricky.
Turns out that Chase, billionaire & absolute stud, after months of looking through the files that the escort agency had hand picked Larissa, specifically for the fact that it's her first time. He is married, but the marriage is a sham so he works a deal with Larissa to work for him as a PA. Jackpot, she gets a great job, doesn't have to do the escort thing as this was her first time & now would seem her last time.
They have a hot secret affair, his wife knows as she herself is in love with someone else, all seems to be happy. Until a journalist shadows them & even with the best security & descression works out & disclosses this love affair, 4 days before the election. It is a love affair, they have fallen madly & deeply in love with each other.
Now dammage control is in full force, insecrutities are coming to the surface, Larissa is heaved into hiding & all seems to be out of her control. Chase actually wins the election, but love wins out & he resigns & decides love is the most important thing there is. Her personal sercurity man hits on her & Chase shows his jealous side after she tells him, but nothing happens & I think maybe this is a definite wake up call for him.
We end up with the fantasy of the year HEA. I'm not sure in real life this would ever happen, after watching so many movies & all the drama that follows with the intense life of American politics, but in this book it works. There is an emotional reunion with her parents & so much hot sex this series leaves you sated & in need of plenty of cold showers, hot hot hot. Loved it.
Recognizable concept that should have completely soared, but was anchored by a little lack of exploration of the journey into the relationship of the characters.
Bigwig politician...secret affair...arranged personal life...aspirations for greatness...enjoyment of the power and control the position brings...desire to be better and have better, but resigned to sinking low to make ends meet...lies...deceit...attraction to molded man...love for the true man.
This had all the makings for a made-for-tv movie outlining all the basics we have seen first hand over the political years, with the exception that Chase was deeper than that and did possess something more.
But that is where this story derailed a bit. Not that it was hard to see who he was, how he struggled with himself and what he truly wanted, but that it was left to the reader to find. There was no display of such emotional struggle, yet you could tell it was there through some commentary and behavior.
Larissa's POV in this book was all we had to truly go on, and while we knew she was attracted to the sexy man in power and drawn like a moth to a flame at his controlling dominating demeanor, which was not very excessive or BDSM, at all, which I prefer, having a bit of insight into Chase's history regarding his need and desire to find Larissa, how he viewed her and just when the relationship changed may have helped commingle the two characters a bit better.
Instead of the commingling, Ms. Leo did the IN YOUR FACE approach, which was just surprising the reader with how things were just as she surprised her main female character, Larissa.
Now, while it almost seems fitting that Chase was a "surprise" and his view of the development of the relationship "secretive", as was the rest of his life, it was the only part that left me feeling left out and unable to understand why and how it all happened.
But as their relationship looked like it was going to be more "Marilyn Monroe" and less "Cinderella", since Ms. Leo gives you quite a few moments where you feel a sense of dread, uncertainty, and DONEness, you find yourself battling through trying to uncover the truth and sift through the rubble of secrets to find out which piece just might fit next into the puzzle that may or may not be Larissa's life and future.
This is both a good and band thing. It is good because it showed the author's ability to truly play up the role she provided Chase's character, but it was bad because as the story ended, you were left not fully understanding everything that transpired and everything that was Chase...only Larissa. That left me somewhat on the fence, as my character profiles were only partial fact and the rest speculation based on what Ms. Leo allowed the reader to see. Brilliant, yes....frustrating...ABSOLUTELY.
Had we had a better view into Chase and the truth of his journey to get to the election, the decisions that followed may have not only made better sense, but carried much more weight and had more meaning. Instead, that lack of insight did take away some of that, as the uncertainty in the book as to whether or not he was being Chase the "Politician" or Chase "The Man" was always in my mind. After all, we do know politicians are not known for their honesty, so a bit of Chase's POV may have helped that doubt along a bit more, even though the end makes the journey feel better and sort of sheds new light on the MAN...
I actually did enjoy this series, which I read in the complete set as one book, but again the frustrations were so much that it left me speculating too much and I found I was not ready to add CHASE to my book boyfriends just yet...there was no immediate love for him, as just like in the books, his behavior was confusing, his words questionable and his personality hot and cold. I was happy to see what carried the day for him in the end and what truly did matter the most.
Do I recommend the series...YES, I do. But as an avid reader who does character profiles for every book I read, Chase made me work for my profile. Even though I ended up getting it right, I still wish I had a little more of him in his POV along the way to just add a different dimension to the dynamic being displayed between the characters.
But, that said, Ms. Leo stayed true to the secretive politician with the questionable character and potential lies. She not only kept her character, Larissa guessing, she kept the reader guessing, as well...right up until the end.
It’s a typical short Cinderella story with a main character Chase Underwood, a billionaire, who’s having a campaign as an USA President.
He need an escort, to fulfill his sexual needs (his marriage was all façade and for politics only), and he set his eyes on Larissa Jacobs, first time at the job. Larissa need money to pay her bills and finally accepted her friend’s suggestion to work as an escort.
Once reading this, I felt dejavu. I read this kind of story earlier (The Arrangement by H.M Ward).
But Senator Chase Underwood was nothing like Sean in The Arrangement. He’s sweet, passionate , and of course, sexy as hell. Ehem….
First meeting he fingered her (sorry about my bluntness), but no sex after that. But, at the other day, Chase came and demanding, so demanding for her company that Larissa can’t say no to him. Suddenly, she became his personal assistant for his campaign, and made the arrangement…and so on and so on….
They’re having hot sex of course, and Chase falling in love with her and they become couple, but they have to keep it a secret, until the Election Day. Well of course , there’s a scandal among the press, gossips about his relationship with Larissa and his wife also have an affair with Teddy, his best friend. But Chase seems didn’t care about it. He fell in love with her.
The election went well, Chase elected as a President, and Larissa must disappear (for awhile). She’s a little bit disappointed about that. Soon after her arrival in Italy, his bodyguard offered her a friendship to her. Larissa rejected that and told Chase about that when Chase called her,. And Chase act like a jealous guy, fly to Italy to protect his lover from anybody.
Well, of course they have their HEA, got married, and everybody happy. I think Cassia can make this more interesting by making it a little longer. I like Cassia’s writing style tough.
But to be honest, I like The Relentless and Pieces of You much better. Otherwise, this is a fun, light, quick , happy reading….!
It was a surprise. I have read a The Shattered Hearts series and Black Box. Those made me CRY A LOT.
Now "CHASE"
WOW. It was short, something I'm not used to with Cassia's Books. I didn't like that part. I like long stories, but anyways the story is good. Chase is HOT.
Please turn your Air Conditioner before reading this one!
What a great series this was.Cassia's books make me feel like I'm right there seeing everything as it happens.I had noo idea where this story was going, for a few moments I was worried Larissa was being used and her heart was about to be broken into a million pieces. What a beautiful love story this was.Chase gives everything up for the love of his life.I didn't want this book to end.Chase is every womens sexy, hot, steamy fantasy.Hot **** was this one HOT READ.I WILL NEED A COLD SHOWER AFTER READING THIS BOOK!!!!Stop wasting your time and buy this book, read the whole series. And then find Cassia Leo on facebook and beg for more!!!!
Unbelievable... Unrealistic... Ridiculous... Shallow... I didn't even know why I bothered finishing this. It was nicely written at first. I definitely got hooked. But then it became a Crossfire Series wannabe. Not to mention, there's someone who named Gideon here which seemed very coincidental. There was no connection between the characters... at all... And the insta-love thing was just ridiculous...
Having said that, I was able to finish it maybe because of the steamy scenes which to be honest weren't that hot... ;p Or maybe I just hate not finishing a book which I have been doing quite a lot lately. So yeah, just a 2-star for me...
Talk about a bunch of sex scenes with absolutely no romantic plot ... (2 stars because some of them are quite steamy) I didn't know what I was expecting from this short novellas, but this was simply not worth my time. I like Cinderella-like stories. I don't mind insta-love most of the time. But this was just...wrong. Pretty woman was whey better done. She had absolutely no personality and was so in love with him because he's this power player and sexy man. THE most important qualities ever! (Sarcasm obviously) I liked other books from this author, so I'll try other series at least.
This is the complete series of Larissa and Chase. Chase is running for presidency and his wife isn't in love with him, but another man. Chase being a man with needs he hires a call girl, Larissa. Larissa and Chase falls in love with each other and I'm like 'alright how are they gonna pull this off', but they do. Chase realizes that he need to be with Larissa more and need her presence everyday, every minute. He quit his predential journey, for his forever with Larissa. Very sweet story, good storyline, good characters, good sex scenes, good reads.
Loved it! This was a great short story and not exactly was I was expecting but I was pleasantly surprised and loved it. Thank you June Gray for posting this the other day so glad I saw it and bout the set. I hate spoilers so I don't give them but I have to say the last line had me laughing..I will have to look for more from this author. Great characters, story, and full of hotness!
I think 4 stars is about where I would leave this series 3 stars would be harsh. This is definitely a fast paced series. Not really a realistic story line at all. You don't ever feel stuck in the story it's a fast forward race to the end. Didn't find it a waste of time though it could have been a little longer to draw some points out and not be so rushed.
it started off steamy. I was into it..then it kinda of got boring in the middle....but the end was not bad and I liked the ending. it was kind of sweet. I do feel they could of made this so much better though. but what do I know I'm just a reader not a writer
Not what I expected from reading other books from Cassia Leo. The story's premise was good (a little Scandel-esque), but I think the plot and characters needed more meat. It wasn't terrible at all and I don't regret reading this series, I just needed more.
This was a great series. I loved chase & hated chase. Hoping for the best for the two of them...was totally happy with the ending. Thanks for such a great story.
If you are going to write a short story make it more detailed and believable. This story happened in the span of what 7 days????? Why a short story when this series had a lot of potential.
