"Little did I think, when I returned to Grand Falls, that my life would utterly change. Where once I was hollow, now I am full. Where I doubted of the existence of love, now it holds me tight in its grip. I am no longer the innocent girl; I am blissful, complete, and knowing. He has opened my eyes to the world. I am his and I have flowered.
Yet before you can hope to understand of what I speak, we must return to the beginning..."
This is Paula's story - a steamy, explicit erotic romance of surrender and dark passions. Paula is drawn to a handsome neighbour with secrets in his past, but it is her own hidden fantasies that come to life as he pays his attentions to her. Paula has not only found a lover, she's found herself, her heart ... her Place.
"Paula's Place" is an erotic romance in three parts: "Seduction," "Surrender," and "Submission."
British-born author James Wood spins sensuous taboo tales. Themes of domination and submission predominate - of hands on legs and garter straps and ladies bound in silk.
Quite apt amount of Content on intimacy and story went nice. Paula is obviously the main attraction, been cast with proper thought on the title. But as usual, the same theme continues as in rest of the BDSM.
Generally I dislike first person POV and 'old fashioned' phrasing, words such as bosom belong in my grandma's bodice rippers not my modern erotic romances. However, I am so glad that I gave this series a shot. Mr. Wood has managed to take the two things that I dislike and turn them into a truly sensual story.
I had to immediately start the next one and it was even better I'm happy to say. I highly recommend that you read them all one right after the other. They are exquisitely written in such a way that they grab and pull you right in. You just have to discover what happens next.
I would like to acknowledge that though I already owned this first book of the series the author provided me with Books 2 and 3 in exchange for a fair and honest review.
I have to say that this one was a very pleasant surprise. Great first book. Well written. Intriguing enough to make me want to read the next one. I liked the two main characters so far. Paula seems genuine and interesting and Max seems compelling, interesting and very alpha in a very good way. I'm daring to get excited over the potential in this series. Will definitely be reading book two to see where it leads.
I received a free copy of this novella in exchange for an honest review.
“Seduction” is a sweet little novella with a ton of old school charm. It’s the first of three novellas that make up the “Paula’s Place” trilogy. The plot is centered on Paula who moves back to her home town after a relationship that came to a dead end. Sexually frustrated she voyeuristically views a sexual act between her neighbor and an unidentified woman, which causes much curiosity and ultimately leads to her yearning to meet her male neighbor Max.
What I liked about Paula, the main character, is that she is simple and straight forward in her thoughts. The author doesn’t give you a ton of back round, but focuses mostly on her current sexual needs and desires. By writing in the first person you are engulfed in Paula’s own emotions during her encounters which are described in colorful flowery prose. Wood shows how erotic doesn’t necessarily mean crass.
“Seduction” is fast moving with explicit appeal, ending with the cliff hanger “What kind of girl do you want to be?” To find out you will have to pick up “Surrender”.
After a weak first chapter, the first part of the Paula's Place Trilogy began to blossom. Paula's Place- seduction is really just a teasing introduction to Part 2 of the series. However, it this first tale comes into its own by the end of chapter two, and by the end of chapter four, you'll be desperate to know what was going to happen next in this saga of domination and submission!
all three of these books are wonderful, well-written & arousing. i would have liked a bit less summary in parts 2 & 3 (but i can understand the necessity of that if someone isn't reading the whole thing in one session, like i did). i haven't read any of Wood's writing before & based on his excellent characterizations & sexy plots, i'll be coming back for more.
A short erotic book by the esteemed James Wood. Unlike "50 Shades" where Anastasia is told that she has control of the relationship and her pleasure is the central, Wood's male protagonist is dominant and the women he controls must say "Yes, Sir" a lot which is a turn off. The relationship balance is skewed and let's face it ladies, we read to feel release, not domination.
