Max Wilson is CEO and majority shareholder of Zetta Corp. Ever since he first noticed his shy accountant Amy Sanders, he's been trying to get her attention. So when she finally agrees to be his escort to an important gala, he knows exactly what he wants from her.
What he doesn't know is that Amy's cousin is Nicky Dunn, his business rival. Soon, it seems as though there's a mole inside the company, leaking important information to Nicky…
Alicia Roberts has always enjoyed writing. She believes in "happily ever after", true love triumphing, and everyone getting what they deserve - and she tries to make sure it happens, at least in her fiction.
Alicia loves animals, coffee, cake and laughter. She is happily married and enjoys spending time with her husband. She loves traveling and currently lives in Melbourne, Australia. You can find her on Twitter at https://twitter.com/AliciaRRoberts, where she enjoys chatting with her readers.
Whatever possessed me to read this one I'll never know, except perhaps that I'm a sucker for free (which is it, at least as of this writing, at Amazon). Fact is, I thoroughly detest romance novels; but since the description of this one included a hint of mystery and intrigue, I decided to give it a go (did I mention free)?
The somewhat cute, but totally predictable and trite plot centers around business tycoon Max Wilson, who is attracted to relatively new employee Amy Sanders. Boldly, he asks her to accompany him to a gala (in the interests of the company, of course). And also of course, the evening ends exactly as one might expect.
Problem is, Amy is a close relative of a huge rival of Max's company - and not surprisingly, Amy is afraid of the consequences of telling that to her new-found companion with whom (did you guess?) she's falling in love. At the same time, it becomes clear that someone on the inside is spewing company secrets to that rival. Oh my, could it possibly be Amy? And whatever will Max do if it is her?
Of course, I won't reveal the outcome, but suffice it to say there's no need; a seventh-grader could read three or four chapters and know how it's going to end. Although it's not poorly written from the standpoint of grammar and punctuation and it's actually quite readable - very quickly since it's arguably not long enough to qualify as a novella, much less a novel - I can't in good conscience give it high marks. But if you enjoy bodice-rippers, you probably won't go wrong in spending the hour or so it takes to whip through this one.
What really got my dander up, though, is that the book's ending is followed by excerpts from a couple of very salacious others (the word submissives caught my eye before I moved heaven and earth to get the blinkin' thing off my Kindle as fast as I could. Now I'm just praying that I don't end up on somebody's porno e-mail list.
The story was short but good. At the end all problems where fixed with a happily ever after. I really enjoy plots were the womaniser is emotionally unattached and says he doesn't want anything serious and ends up falling hard for a girl LOL . Just like real life ehmmmm (Sarcasm).
These ridiculous free Amazon kindle books will be the death of me. Only, that is, if one could die of laughter. This book was a mess. The writing was particularly juvenile and there was no character development. The story was commonplace and it had the get married happily ever after. I enjoyed it for what its worth. A quick read and a good laugh. Don't get this unless it were free.
Cute and interesting enough.... But not extremely well written and amateurish sounding..... It really bothered me how unrealistic it was that someone would move in with her boyfriend but not tell him her “huge” secret - knowing if he found out on his own it would be 1,000,000 times worse than if she just told him right away.
It was a good book. Your typical romance short novella. Boy and girl meet, fall in love, break up, get back together. It's good for a quick read. If you like romance, go for it.
I've read several stories like this one. So there wasn't really anything new here, but for whatever reason I liked it.
A few questions/comments:
When Amy goes with Max to the benefit place (I forgot what it was), why does she seem surprised when photographers are there and wanting to take their picture?
Amy is thinking about the fact that Max hadn't said anything about her appearance. She ends up telling him he looks nice and he compliments her back. "Had it seemed like she was fishing for compliments? She wasn't, she was just being nice." I don't think so!
What was with them practically making out at the benefit place?
I noticed several errors, but thankfully nothing too major.
So after drinking champagne, they go in for another kiss. Amy comments on how Max's breath "was hot and minty..." How was it minty?
"Max brought his mouth down to her inner thigh, just above her right knee..." Does that make sense?
How many sisters did Max have?
Thankfully for Max nothing happened after Amy told her cousin Nicky they were dating. But why would she have done that in the first place?
Why did Amy get so mad at Max when he asked her to move in with him? I didn't understand. She was still comparing his prior 'females' to herself, even though this would have been the first time he'd asked one of his 'females' to move in with him.
Same thing goes with how Amy thought that Max "wasn't about to fall in love with her." Things are different!
Lastly, Amy needs some time away from Max. Why does she go to a romantic bed and breakfast? That just seemed strange.

Very nice story line. The plot was very nice, but it could have had a few more unexpected twists. I could guess what happened next. Robert's character development could use some work. Although the narrator was omnipresent, everybody's personalities were quite a mystery to me. She does a great job at creating a setting. I could picture everybody's apartment very clearly in my head. The author also does well with dialogue. The syntax and diction in the conversations were well written. Not a book of literary merit, but a pleasant read.
This is a classic romance tale of the handsome boss and his overlooked employee. I could imagine Doris Day playing the part. The boss needs a date for a special event and decides to pick his a hard-working accountant for the position.
If you are as old as I am, you know how the tale goes. She gets gussied up, wows the guy and everything is clover, except for one annoying secret, hers. Her cousin just happens to be his major competitor. Cue evil ex-girlfriend who has a bone to pick.
This was a predictable story, but sometimes I like predictable. It is pure romance.
Pink Rose is the lightest light of reads and easily finished in two evenings. However, the two main characters are likable even though they are not well developed. The environment in which the story unfolds is only briefly touched upon. This short book concentrated solely on the romantic involvement of the two main individuals which as usual is a handsome mega-wealthy male and a female of opposite status. Even in today's world it would most likely be considered tacky to reverse this scenario. This book is a stereotypical short but somewhat enjoyable beach read.
this was a short love story about finding love and fighting for it.. Max was with Chloe but she only wanted him for the money. he leaves Chloe behind and she acts like things are okay but in reality shes trying to find him harm.
Amy works for Max and she likes him but stays away because he's the boss.. and because her cousin is Max's competitor in the business world but Max can't stay away from Amy
In the end their love is challenged and loved ones feel betrayed.. Chloe is just jealous and upset
I wish it was longer it really was a good short love story
PREDICTABLE BUT I ENJOYED IT VERY MUCH. I LOVE A ROMANCE THAT IS WELL WRITTEN, RIGHT AMOUNT OF LOVE SCENCES, AND A PRETTY DECENT PLOT. THIS BOOK HAS ALL THAT IT WAS KINDA' SHORT BUT IT WAS GOOD. I GET TIRED OF SOME AUTHORS STRECTCHING OUT STORIES JUST TO MAKE IT A LONGER BOOK. REPEATING WORDS AND PHRASES A LITTLE DIFFERENTLY BUT JUST REPEATING THEM OVER AND OVER. I WOULD RATHER READ A SHORT GOOD BOOK THAN READ A REPETATIVE LONG BOOK. UGH! IT WAS NICE SMOKIN' HOT GOOD!
CEO conglomerate Max finds himself doubting his jaded sense of commitment problems after having one date with Any. His sense of non-commitment slowly turns into his burning love for her. That is until it came crashing down when Max funds out her cousin is his biggest competitor and he believes she is leaking information. When proven wrong he begs Any for forgiveness with the one huge shocker for both...the commitment of a lifetime.
This was free so don't judge me guys lol And I only read it because I needed a book with a rose on the cover and this one had it I can write a better book than this! and I have no talent! geez, she didn't develop the characters properly, she skipped over all the bits that would have been interesting and the story was too damn predictable Dont even know what else to complain about
This book was okay, just okay. A quarter into the book I already knew that it wasn't going to be amazing per se but decided to keep reading in case it got better. It did, a little. The characters could have used more development and the ending was predictable. I don't necessarily regret the time I spent reading it, but there is definitely room for improvement.
I just loved it! It was the perfect cute love story and it wasn't as long as other making affairs so complicated that sometimes I just get bored! (eventhough I love some of them) The end was a little bit rushed but I really liked it :) I recommend this book and hope to read more !
normally I don't bother with short stories because I like to get lost in a book and short ones are usually pretty typical as was this one. A love story that I could tell what was going to happen each time I turned a page.
A great, quick read. Best part about this book was that the characters were not overtly dramatic when dealing with their issues. And resolved their problems like the civilised, professional and intelligent people they were portrayed as. I'll be looking to read more from Alicia Roberts.
Freebie and quicky. The writer knows the "hows" on writing the specific genre of romance of the naughty CEO falling for his employee. Couldn't the book be enlisted in a kind of a wishful fantasy genre, too?
Incredibly bad book ... the 'hero' is a complete jerk, the heroine is a moronic doormat. The 'solution' at the end involves to competitors carving up the market in a way which would have most anti-trust/competition lawyers cringing ... Just bad all round ...
This could have been so much better. It felt rushed and as though the author didn't really care about the characters so she didn't take the time to develop them. I feel like I just read the Cliff Notes and not an actual book. I don't think I'll bother reading the rest of the series.
story line was good, but good lord I found her to be irritating and kinda dumb. she was okay with everything he did like signing an agreement so they could have sex, getting a new job, just everything was okay.
What a way too predictable and thoroughly unreal novel. I knew how it was going to end and how the story will flow after the first few chapters. The end just seemed really unreal for me. Love is not that easy. A very few amount of romance novels show that, and it is not this one.
