He has "a lover in every port and a gun in every tentacle"! Blasto the Hanar Spectre, the most beloved action hero in the galaxy, makes his comics debut with a nonstop thrill-ride of white-knuckle excitement! "Does it feel fortunate? Do you, scum?" Despite it being so short this is just awesome. Anyone who has played the Mass Effect games has probably seen the odd poster here and there of Blasto the Hanar. Well thanks to an inside joke blowing up we now have a short one shot graphic novel that puts us directly into Blasto's latest. It's pretty funny and I definitely think it's worth checking out if you like the game series.
This was disappointing. It completely relies on the idea of a Hanar with guns and quips being funny, but that loses its edge shortly if nothing else entertaining happens. To write comedy, one must first be humorous.
The pink, tentacled (read: dildo-like) Blasto gets paired with the actress-but-secretly-spectre Cerulean Star. They must investigate Kronus who is suspected of killing multiple spectres. Of course, the two partners start off with some tentacle porn innuendo. There are rule 34 pics on this, though they may only feature a generic asari - other species are also... serviced. But anyway. The dialogue is the funniest I've seen in a Mass Effect comic so far. I dare say this one-shot is the most enjoyable additions to the Mass Effect universe.
Blasto doing the Hanar-with-multiple-guns equivalent of a roundhouse kick lives in my mind rent free. All jokes aside: definitely one of the better Mass Effect comics, as it feels like a proper addition to the universe rather than just a randomly picked scene that is fleshed out over a couple of panels. Now I really wish I could read an elcor Hamlet, biotic god or Grunt in the Citadel DLC comic, because dang. That sounds like fun.
So...I never thought I'd be reading about a womanizing hardcore pink alien jellyfish who hunts criminals in space. "A lover in every port and a gun in every tentacle". I think that description says it all. Womanizing alien jellyfish. You can't ever blame me for not widening my horizons when the chance is given.
(Also, I think Blasto should get more comics. S/he's pretty awesome).
Ab-so-lute-ly hysterical. The satirical oversaturation of tropes, the hilarious over-the-top drama, the entire ridiculousness of the characters and situation... it's all gold. I'm not joking: I would read hundreds of pages of Blasto material like this. This is too perfect.
cute!! obviously, very tropey and cheesy, but that is literally the point of this fictional character within the universe. i would be very surprised if i saw fans complaining about the writing or style here, since the whole charismatic and sexy lone wolf bit is part of char design for a B-grade movie star. i thought this little comic was lovely, and i guffawed a few times at the tentacles and embracing eternity lines. go get 'em, tiger! of course he gets the girl in the end! <3
"This one thinks the krogan scum must ask the question -- does it feel fortunate?
Do you, scum?"
Funny, short comic about Blasto the giant jellyfish! The artwork was the best I have seen from the graphic novels so far. The colors were gorgeous -- Mac Walters needs to work with this artist more!
