John Gallagher is the art director of the National Wildlife Federation's "Ranger Rick" magazine and has been drawing comics since he was five. John is also the cofounder of "Kids Love Comics" (an organization devoted to using graphic novels to promote literacy) and leads workshops teaching kids how to create their own comics. John lives in Virginia with his wife and their three kids.
Fun superhero title for young readers, but with plenty of nods to older superhero titles that grown-ups will appreciate. The stories are all busy, but in a good way, filled with action, humor and adventure.
This is the third compilation of John Gallagher's Buzzboy stories. The first volume remains my favorite, and I think the strongest story overall, but this is a nice all ages installment in the series. While the AU aspects of the story are left in doubt, we get a tale of Buzzboy, Doc Cyber, Becca and Zoom during the time Buzzboy was Captain Ultra's sidekick. There are lots of Easter Egg jokes for super hero comic book fans, but perhaps the nicest thing about this TPB is that it is one adults can enjoy and share with their younger children. A warning-some of the Buzzboys jokes/characteristics (cheeseburgers, tv, dood) do start to wear thin during the course of the story.
