From the winner of the James D. Phelan Literary Award, comes What's French for WTF?, a hilarious romp through the lives of four twenty-somethings in Paris.
In novella one of this sitcom series, Fern must call on her intervention skills to persuade her guy-crazy roommate Kimi to lay off bad men. But what is really going on behind closed doors? Is Kimi using her room to turn tricks?
Love, hunger, and financial meltdown await Fern and her friends in the City of Light, where it's harder to raise cash than it is to raise heck. Will Fern's loyalty and romantic dreams survive the riot girls, a much-sought-after chamber pot, and the incident of the flying falsie?
If you like your comedy seasoned with romance, mystery, and the occasional groan-worthy pun, "chick out" this new release.
Hi, I'm Gwen Ellery. I write romantic comedy novels for the desperately amused. If it's reflective or funny, I'm there.
My reading tastes are eclectic, although lately I've been drawn to classic English lit.

Quirky... Fun! I enjoyed reading this quick read! No give aways, but I loved the TRUE BOND that I discovered as I read. As in real life, there's nothing like family. Good job Ms. Ellery!
I liked this story for exactly what I needed it for. It was a brilliant mind sweeper from a much different kind of fiction. Fern is a shallow but caring kind of character everyone knows and loves
Eh. I wanted a quick read to end the year but I just couldn't get into this short novella which took me far to long to finish. Plus on top of that when I was finally curious about an outcome I was left with the biggest cliff hanger but no desire to get the second book to continue the story...
I grabbed this title because the title was irresistible and for the most part, for a short and undemanding read full of pratfalls and the worst case scenario it was completely fine. Would I go for another in the series? I'm not all that fond of the characters, they are very immature and unthinking, surprisingly unprepared for survival on their own.
With a lead character that fled back to her flat in Paris after a disastrous family wedding, where she may or may not have slept with the groom, only to find that her bank account has been cleaned out, her roommates are singularly unable to pitch in for rent, and one of her roommates may or may not be prostituting herself.
Not unlike a story written as 'what is the worst that can happen' this jumps through several worst case scenarios for the characters and their situations, the repetitive nature of another disaster being ready to step in when one issue is solved was wearing and tiring. At 82 pages, this was a quick read, and a decent diversion for a quiet afternoon,
I purchased a copy of this title for my own library. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.
This was a quick read, and had a lot of potential. However, I was disappointed. There were a lot of directions this story could go, each one just as interesting as the next, but everything was left open-ended. Granted, this is only the first book in the series and it may just be setting up the rest of the series, but it just didn't hook me like it should have. I doubt I will be reading the next book.
I can't really appreciate shallow stupidity, so I had a hard time relating to the main character's plight, and found myself too many times just irritated by their actions. There wasn't any depth to the development. The writing style of the author was okay, I only had a personal dislike of the plot.
I thought this was a very funny book and laughed out loud frequently. Fern is an adorable character; well meaning yet totally mad and clueless at the same time. Her goofball antics had me in stitches and I was desperate to see how it would all work out in the end. But there's a bit of a twist there... which makes for a very satisfying conclusion. I definitely want to read the next episode.
I remember reading a review about laughing aloud through the whole book.....I won't say it wasn't enjoyable, but don't expect hilarity. Also, did not like the main character. That's always tough to read through, especially in first person.
Quick read no stress. Ending is stupid and characters are one dimensional. Doesn't give you a reason to like any of them. And why did this take place in Paris?? Could have been Duluth or Sioux City.
Loved the characters. Reminded me of what Lucy & Ethel would have been like as modern single women today. Excellent even if I was thinking they were all a bit crazy!
Had no idea that this is a novella...as in it took me less than an hour to read. Humorous in that it got a chuckle or 2 out of me. I'm not rushing to pick up #2 in the series.
