As a young independent vampire, Ellen Banks takes the ring, and all eyes are on her. The lithe rebel has worked hard to get to this one moment in her less-than-stellar life. No one will stand in her way of that championship belt, especially not the powerful and impossibly salacious Nash Stanford. If only her traitorous body’s reaction would shut the hell up.
Eva LeNoir lives in France with her husband, two sons and the entire food chain in pets: From fish to gerbils to cats and a dog. With a full-time job that pays the bills, she reserves all of her free time doing what she loves most: Writing. Eva likes teasing her husband that she should have married a billionaire so she could stay home and write all day. But then he makes her laugh at his silly antics and all dreams of lavish lifestyles evaporate from her mind.
A softie at heart, Eva can be seen crying whenever anything emotional is on TV or the radio. Yes, even commercials. So, if ever you meet her, make sure to bring a box of tissues and a good episode of Grey's Anatomy to witness the epic tear fest.
There are three things she believes unconditionally: Love really does conquer all, Humans are still inherently good and Wine and Cheese will solve all the problems of the world.
I loved this book, let me just say it was everything and more and packed an almighty punch for a short paranormal romance story.
As a writer, I was disturbed by a 'professional' reviewer at Eden Bookshelves further down, who listed an array of negative comments. I don't feel these were constructive points by a reviewer to help the writer progress nor paint an apt picture for the reader of this book. Instead, it was a modern day slaughter on 21st century creativity. I did, in fact, go back and read this book again because of the nature of the reviewer’s attack.
All paranormal romance books are misogynistic in some way due to the fact that there are Alpha males all over the place, and it supports the dynamic of stories such as these. (See every single JR Ward book in print before the brothers find their mate.)
Also I didn't see any change of names other than nicknames and a bypassed error on one wrong surname in the entire book. So, if this is considered as the author can't make up her mind then I am guilty since my book has so many nicknames and probably a few errors, it could create another list for Santa. Are we to judge an entire manuscript on one error? What a cynical society we have become eh?
I loved the overall plot because this book paints the beginning of a grandiose plot in its entirety since there are, based on my understanding, many more books to come. This is a series, not a standalone book which means there is more of the story to unfold, and let's face it, how much more plot is necessary in a short story when it is primarily character based and there are follow-ups?
We have catapulted into an era where readers are bored of meek, docile characters. What the reviewer may not have realized is that writers as well as readers are reading the comments and are able to separate a constructive critique from the downright sheer butchering of creativity with an array of inaccurate facts based on an error or two. The only thing I have gained as a writer and reader from this experience is to avoid the reviewer and distrust any reviews he/she makes from now on.
Okay so this is not my usual genre of choice, however, since I've been enjoying FB chats with the author I wanted to read it after I found out that she was - AN AUTHOR!!! I've got to say, it blew me away. This girl can write some hot chemistry, dripping with lust sex scenes, and my God - these are vampires!!! This novella was action packed, the characters developed very nicely and damn if I would love some of Nash!!!!
I was grabbed from the beginning and couldn't put it down, you feel like you're right there in the ring, or the shower, or up against the wall, well you get the idea! I love the way Ellen and her delicious Master Sire Nash interact and I found myself chuckling at some of the inner monologue that goes on. I loved it and can't wait for more!
I tend to steer clear of novellas for the most part because I find that they can be lacking in character development. Not so with BLOODWEIGHT. This novella has it all; great characters, witty dialogue, hot sex and an enjoyable plot.
I absolutely love the character of Ellen who is so determined to do everything on her own. She is feisty, independent and can fight her own battles both physical and emotional. I enjoyed seeing her learn that she doesn't have to do it all alone. Nash comes off as cold in the beginning but he warms up as he starts to lose the tight control that he has on his emotions because of her.
Because this is a PG blog I won't go much into the sex scenes except to say that they are very hot and don't attempt to take over to the exclusion of the plot or anything else. I mean I enjoy hot sex scenes but I really hate it when that is all a story has going for it. Not to worry about that in this novella.
I do recommend BLOODWEIGHT to readers of the paranormal who also enjoy erotica. This novella is part of a series, Underdogs of the Arena, and I can hardly wait for the next to come out. I rate this novella a 4.
***I was given a copy of this book by the author in exchange for a fair and honest review. All opinions are my own.
Bloodweight Underdogs of the Arena series by Eva LeNoir
As a young independent vampire, Ellen Banks takes the ring, and all eyes are on her. The lithe rebel has worked hard to get to this one moment in her less-than-stellar life. No one will stand in her way of that championship belt, especially not the powerful and impossibly salacious Nash Stanford. If only her traitorous body’s reaction would shut the hell up.
Nash Stanford, Vampire Sire of the East Coast, has been biding his time. He is a shrewd businessman and knows a good investment when he sees one. But when he looks at the incredibly sexy Ellen Banks, there is more than just money on his mind. Will she agree to work for him? More importantly, will she finally give into the hunger building between them?
This is a really fast paced read. I usually don't read vampire books, but I enjoyed this one a lot. The plot was fast paced & kept your attention til the very end. The characters were likable even though they were vampires..& I couldn't wait to see how it all played out. This is the first book I've read by this author & it was well worth reading. I rate this book 4 stars Jennifer Wadkins

Ellen Banks is a fighter in and out of the ring. She belongs to no one and this fight is prove that she is the best. Yet 1 man Nash Stanford wants to change all that. Who will win in and out of the bed?
Great action hot scenes, didn't want to put this book down. I fell into the storyline so fast and was captured!
Well this was a sexy, steamy and extremely HOT novella. I was totally sucked into this story when it just ended........leave to me to not realize it wasn't a full novel.
You can totally get lost in the world of paranormal books, you know why? Because anything can happen. Female vampires kick boxing to the death while thousands watch, totally acceptable.
Believing in a story can only mean the Author is a great writer. If I'm drawn in and completely forget about what's going on around me, means the Author is an exceptional writer. Eva LeNoir is a very talented writer, I not only wanted to believe in this story but I was lost in a world created by her.
Ellen is a fighter, it's all she's ever known. Battling her way through life, then into the ring to prove to everyone she's no underdog.
I know boxing is a sport and many woman take part in kick boxing but to the death. Inside that sounds like a real scary place to be. Ellen would never surrender that would be to shameful and she would not give Nash the satisfaction.
Nash the Sire, ruler of the underground can't take his eyes off Ellen. He wants her just like he wants all women, on their knees. Pfft he's got no chance of Ellen sinking to her knees.
Ellen is in danger not that she cares. She can take care of herself but Nash will not allow that to happen. She's told that she will go with him, no arguing.
She's can't resist him anymore than he can her. Ellen will never be controlled again. Her life is hers not for someone else to take. Nash wants Ellen, he's beginning to see things a little differently. How can he get his independent feline to submit and sign a contract? Never going to happen.
I'm looking forward to reading more books in this series. From now on this Author is a one click.
Sexy, Intense, Paranormal Novella! I'm not usually a fan of short stories, but I completely enjoyed Bloodweight! This is book 1 in the Underdogs of the Arena Series, and Eva pulled out all the stops - great character development, sexy and intense plot, hot and heavy sex scenes! Who couldn't ask for more?
"Fight with your fists, win with your heart."
Ellen Banks is a feisty, witty, young vampire, who won't let anyone get in her way of getting what she wants, and she wants the championship. She never wants to be owned by anyone, or anything and she will kick anyone's ass who thinks differently.
"Here I am, almost dying and you're thinking about sex? Classy."
Nash Stanford, the incredibly mouth-watering, sexy vampire sire who runs these fights wants one thing, and one thing only....a great investment, but is that all he sees when he looks at the spirited, tough vampire?
This novella is full of kick ass fighting, steamy sex, quick witted banter, and even some heartfelt moments. Even though this is a short story, it is action packed and will certainly satisfy your paranormal cravings, as it did mine.
This is my first read from the great Eva LeNoir, and I can't wait to see what she has in store for us next.

Bloodweight by Eva LeNoir is a sexy paranormal that needs to be read! This great novella may be short but it’s a complete story. I was instantly immersed into this amazing world. Although a quick read, due to length, I felt satisfied as I read to the end.
The story is about, Ellen, a kick boxer and Nash who runs the fighting competitions. We get to see when her life is threatened after a match and how they deal with it. So will they be together forever or torn apart? You must read to find out.
We get the perfect blend of plot and back story as we jump right into the action. Fighting scenes that show us some bad ass moves and sex scenes that are explosive! Who could ask for anything more?
I clearly have a vision of the world Miss LeNoir created. I like it a lot! With Bloodweight being Book 1 in the Underdogs of the Arena series, I’m excited to see where we will be taken. Oh the possibilities!!
If you’re up for a wonderful novella, head out to buy this one. You’ll enjoy it! I certainly did.

What happens when you win the biggest fight of your career and then get the hottest vampire sire in the same night? Ellen finds out after she wins the lightweight championship fight. After winning she is trapped in her dressing room by the richest vampire sire on the East coast and falls "under his spell." Lust and pleasure run in the veins of Nash and once he sets his sights on Ellen he will do anything to have her. At first it just seems like it'll be a business bet, but then it slowly evolves into something more. Both Ellen and Nash get more than they bargain for as they deal with the death threats over Ellen's head after her win and then dealing with her certain death. To find out what happens when what seems to be a business bet turns into love; pick up Bloodweight and fall into a world where anything is possible when you're the underdog.
Nash is the vampire 'sire' of his area and is respected by most. His arrogant and full of himself, I love this type of characther as you know full well his going to be bought to his knees by lust/love.
Ellen is a vampire and a fighter, She is a very independent woman, Jared is her trainer and his a shifter. She's about to fight in Nash's arena.
These two characthers clash together, Ellen dislikes him....but there's a fine line between love and hate. I really enjoyed Ellen berating herself about her bodies response to Nash.
This is a novella so only a short read. I enjoyed the characthers and storyline and will be adding the other books in series to my tbr.
4 vampy and racey stars
I was gifted a copy of this book for an honest review
What do I think? I have read about many vampires over the past few years. I must say that this is deliciously different which is a must for me. I love the originality of this story. No repetition here. Also, if you don't like Novellas, you're hurting yourself and should feel deprived for missing such a gratifying read filled with gritty and raw pages of lust and action. I had so much fun reading this and felt like I had to hold on tight every time Nash showed up and duck when Ellen stepped into the ring. This one truly packs a punch!
The book where Eva first cut her author teeth. Quite fitting I suppose that it's about vampires and werewolves.
Street fighting, kick boxing badass vampire Ellen Banks - fight with your fists, win with your heart. I'm thinking of the Thunderdome fight until death kind of fighting.
Sexual chemistry with the Sire Nash Stanford, oh yeah. Bite me Mr Vampire.
Quick Sunday morning read, hmmmm reminds me of a Maroon 5 song "In darkness she is all I see Come and rest your bones with me"
I wonder if Eva asked my Adam to write this song about her book?
Anyway, quick, dirty, not to be taken too seriously kind of book.
I don't usually read paranormal. I loved this though. Nash! Oh there is nothing more alpha than the way he operates! After I put the fire out on my kindle...I couldn't help but realize how great Ellen was. She wasn't whiny and clingy. She was sure of herself. That makes a great story! I loved the way the were toward each other and the freaking heat! Oh my God!!!
Quick, Action packed, steaminess. I could totally become addicted to this author and her characters. If you enjoy erotic PNR, then you will want to download this book.
Blood Weight is the first book in the series and I haven't read the next to but I will be soon. This book was DEFIANTLY my kind of book! From the beginning I was hooked, I loved the character Nash… unlike other master vampires he stood out because he didn't act all lord and mighty, he was just your delicious, possessive alpha male and I loved that he feel for Ellen even though she was his competition. I was amazed at the character Ellen as she was a weak, needy female but a kick your ass, independent, no nonsense female who stood her ground until Nash wore her down. I also L-O-V-E-D the fact that behind the characters was a storyline that I have to admit made my inner female melt, everybody loves a good man that is filling to take care of you and protect you from anything and anyone, without taking away all of your independence, you can't deny it. The very last scene, which I shall not go into in great deep as you need to read it to understand the impact and not have someone spoil it for you, was my absolute favourite scene out of this whole book, there is a saying "that even the toughest nut must crack" and during this scene I think it applies as are alpha male Nash as his character changes from the hard, used to getting what he wants man from the beginning to the man who needs to work to get what he wants, like Ellen and not just expect her. I have given this book 5 stars because even though it was shorter than most books this time it didn't bother me as I couldn't but it down until I had finished it and with its open ending, not a cliffhanger, I repeat an open end which connects to the next book but does have a kind of a happy ending, it kept me in my toes and if I had had the rest of the book series at the time I wouldn't have stopped and I would have completed all of them, even if I had to lock myself in a dark room (preferably with some kind of light) or even the bathroom. So I would certainly recommend this book to any reader who is a fan of paranormal romance, with a bit of alpha male thrown in and fighting finally added to the mix. SO… to finally to end this review I must tell you that you will love the characters Ellen and Nash just as much as I did and I can't not thank the author of this book Eva LeNoir for sending me a free copy of this book because she now has me hooked on this series and she should continue this series at she has a talent for it.
Vampires, shifters, demons and females kicking ass in MMA cage fighting, what's not to like? HAWT! Ellen is a MMA (mixed martial arts) fighter who is the underdog in a cage fight. She's caught the attention of a master vampire, Nash. Nash is the one running the fighting circuit with an eye on Ellen. Ever since she rebuffed his attentions, Nash has been watching her.
This short story is written with a good focus and nice build up in sensual tension. The MMA is something I really enjoy - to have it incorporated in this manner is a lovely touch. It would have been nice to incorporate a bit more lingo to the enrich the fighting scene. Using terminology such as their fighting styles or martial arts discipline would have been nice. For example, one of my favourite holds is the rear naked choke. This could have been easily slipped into the story line when the demon was down and Ellen had the upper hand. This obviously naughty sounding hold would work for both those who follow MMA and those who do not. Those who don't know what it looks like in real life would conjure dirty images in their mind. For those who do know what this hold looks like, oh boy, to see two women, scantily clad, sweaty and in this slightly sexy position - tasty!
The sexual scenes in the story were straight forward and sweet. For a story with a lead female fighting, perhaps a bit of wrestling in the bed would have kicked up the heat and built the sexual tension more. Nash's way of pleasing Ellen was mm-mm good.
The conflict in this story was a bit baffling for me. I'm not sure I fully understood why it was such a problem. It felt just a little forced to have this conflict. Then again, I'm not into the underground gaming world so this could be perfectly plausible. It did set the story up into a nice tidy resolution with a happily ever after. Ms. LeNoir is a new to me author and she's one I'll be watching. I hope to read another story in this series and this time, focusing on the mysterious sexy coach of Ellen's. I love an alpha shifter. This book is recommended to paranormal romance lovers who enjoy a heroine who can hold her own.
I received a copy of this book from the author in return for an honest review.
I love a good paranormal erotic romance, but I wasn't sure what to expect from this debut author. However, I loved it!
Ellen Banks is a fantastic character! I'm used to reading about feisty vampire heroines, but I have never come across one that could literally kick butt as good as Ellen. She is extremely strong and has a calculating mind, which comes in handy when you kickbox for a living.
Nash Stanford is also a fantastic character. He is a tough businessman and extremely sexy! Nash is challenged by Ellen's defiance to his advances, but when danger threatens her, his protective instinct kicks in.
This is a fantastic paranormal erotic romance novella! I must admit that I am not a fan of kickboxing, or just plain boxing, but I found myself completely enthralled by the thought of vampires dueling to the death in the ring. The sexual tension between Ellen and Nash wafted from the pages, and almost set fire to them! This story is told from both characters' points of view, which shows their thoughts and emotions. The story hooked me from the first page until the last! Unfortunately, as this is a novella, the story ended too soon! However, I don't hold it against the author.
Eva LeNoir has written an extremely HOT and steamy novella that was a pleasure to read. This debut author knows how to turn up the heat! I'm looking forward to reading more of her work in the future.
Due to the explicit nature of some of the scenes, and some bad language, I do not recommend this book to readers under the age of 18. However, if you love paranormal erotic romances, I highly recommend this book! - Lynn Worton
If you are looking for a short read with vampires, sexy steamy scenes, a badass chick and girl fights, look no further! This is a must read. I devoured this book. It was great!
Ellen Banks is a vampire. She’s a kickboxer. She’d been fighting for two years now trying to save up for her own little corner of paradise to spend her eternity peacefully. She was heading into a new fight as the underdog. Ellen knew the prize would be hefty if she won.
Nash Stanford was a vampire. He was the HMFIC in the area and ran the arena holding the fight. He had a big hard on for Ellen but she had given him a graphic no two years ago when he approached her. Nash wanted her now just as badly as he had wanted her back then.
Nash knew that the money was being placed on his prized fighter Cheyenne tonight. He also knew that Ellen would give her a run for her money. If Ellen won, there would be some angry people to deal with. Sure enough, Ellen wins. Nash goes back to the dressing room to congratulate her and it gets hot and steamy QUICK! Finally persuading her to a night of pleasure, Nash tells her to meet him outside. Once she gets outside, she learns that people are saying she cheated and are after her head. Knowing Nash is the only man who can protect her, Ellen leaves with Nash.
Will Nash be able to protect her? Will Ellen ever get her peaceful paradise? You’ll have to read to find out! It was such a great read. Nash….YUMMY! Ellen gives it as good as she takes. I really enjoyed this book. It is book one in a series. So I must read more! The book is written well and you are easily drawn into the story. Go 1-click today!
This novella was a delight ! Let me tell you why you need to add it to your to read list.
First, I really love vampire stories and this one sounded special. And it was ! I wasn't disappointed by the atmosphere of this paranormal romance story. Though I know nothing about boxing, I enjoyed discovering and living the excitement of Ellen's fights. There were actions and suspense and I loved how everything felt right together. Also, I loved that we could meet other creatures like shifters and werewolves. It stayed focused on vampires but it made me want to know more about the world the characters were living in.
As for the characters, I found them pretty awesome ! I could easily relate on Ellen's feelings, her strength, her bravery and her story was interesting and moving. I loved that she embodied everything powerful in a woman while having one slight weakness : Ash Standford. But who wouldn't be attracted to this sexy, controlling and handsome vampire? He was hot as fire but so much more too ! I loved him ! And the two of them were amazing. This novella contains hotness, intense chemistry and love. Yeah, you could sense this was more than a strong attraction.
I'm so happy we will know more about Jared in the sequel. It sounds really promising, to say the least !
Bloodweight, first book in the Underdogs of the Arena series, is well written, gripping and will make you want more. This novella won't leave you indifferent ! I will absolutly read the whole series and more of Eva LeNoir work !
I don't know why I never published this review here......
I've never read a book in this genre before but after reading this authors book I've become a new fan. The book had me from the first full page. What a cast of characters. To see a book based on someone like Ellen Banks. Not the normal heroine by any means. Finally one who isn't dependent on a man at all for anything. Like women in the real world who would like to be but can't afford to be. Who seems to have brought herself up from nothing although in such a short story we didn't get bored by every hang nail she ever had, I hope to learn more of her back story in future publications. Then there is Nash Stanford the handsome guy you love to hate for now who plans to run her life from now on. I believe Ellen is gonna give him a run for his money cause she has kept herself pretty much alive so far. I think the ones that are after her better get some body armor cause they're gonna need it. This was a fast paced story that I couldn't put down. I loved it. It was recommended to me by a friend on facebook and I can't wait to thank them for the heads up. I also can't wait for the next book on Ellen Banks. She is a character worth following. What a great character you have created, the MMA was a great setting to put her into. Thanks for doing her justice.
This is the first in the Underdogs of the Arena series and let me tell you dear reader this is a series you will want to read ASAP. I pretty much inhaled this book and absolutely loved Ellen and Nash.
Seriously, Nash could just about set your panties on fire he's so hot. Especially when he says things like this "I'm willing to wager your entire winnings times two that your panties are so wet you could wring your own juices from them"
The chemistry is smoking between Nash and Ellen and when they come together whew, talk about hot. How could it not be with these two fine vampire specimens ? Let's not forget that uber hot Nash is the master Sire and could have any woman he wants and he wants Ellen, underground fighter extraordinaire.
"Ellen was many things but an idiot she was not and one thing was damn sure - Nash would ruin her for any other male"
If you like paranormal books, hot alphas, underground fighting, kick ass women, hot sex and with a little suspense thrown in, well this is the series for you. I for one am off to devour the next two books and then start the wait for more from is author. She is definitely an author to watch.
Bloodweight has got to be the most unique paranormal romance I have read in a LONG time. I found this to be completely fascinating and downright addictive. Usually in most romances the heroines are tough but have a inner sweetness that is not hard to see. With Bloodweight we have a young female vampire that is TRULY strong. Both physically and mentally. Ellen has a feisty-ness that you can't ignore both in the ring and outside it. But we also see a hero who I can honestly say is an equal to her. At least to me. Both are notoriously strong and both have strong desires for each other that neither can really deny. The passion is strong, the sex hot and the story rolled together beautifully. I would of never imagined a story where the heroine is basically a champion boxer. But Eva Lenoir created one that was the ULTIMATE tough girl. Bloodweight gets a FOUR AND A HALF OUT OF FIVE STARS from me! Its wickedly dangerous, and seductive. I can't wait to read the next one!
I read the first three chapters of this book and decided not to go any further. Several issues influenced this decision.
- The novel's plot was unclear since several story lines were introduced and contradicted in the first two chapters. - The narrative relied heavily on cliches and the dialog lacked originality and complexity. - Grammatical inconsistencies e.g. the heroine's name changes back and forth. - Several times I felt that the writer used words without understanding their meaning. - The sex scenes were unappealing to me. - I felt uncomfortable with the imagery the narrative's vocabulary evoked since it was often violent and at times misogynistic.
I appreciate the opportunity to review this work unfortunately it just wasn't for me.
When I picked up this book, I thought it was just a fighter book. Boy was I pleasantly surprised to find that it was a FEMALE fighter and a VAMP at that!!
Ellen is a tough vampire that is on her final fight for the title. The fight is being held at the Underdogs of the Arena, which is owned by Nash, sexy Sire to of all East Coast vamps. They've met in the past and the meeting, lets just say, didn't go well.
This time they meet after the fight and it goes entirely different. Nash exudes sexuality and even Ellen can't stay completely unaffected by it. However, when word comes down that she is getting death threats, he takes her into his home to help protect her.... And that's where things get so hot I thought my kindle would burst into fire!!
Great quick read.. Only complaint I could muster would be that it wasn't long enough.. I wanted MORE!!!
Although this story was on the shorter end of what I have read recently, I did enjoy it more than I thought that I would. I don't want to give too much of the story away in my review, but I will say this, if you like the paranormal world, you really should check this book out.
It has vampires, werewolves and who knows what else? Oh and of course we can't forget the bloody to the death fight that takes place between two women, yes that's right the WOMEN kick @ss in this story!
I would recommend this book to my friends who enjoy reading shorter books that still pack a punch! And I do have plans on reading the next book in the series!
