Duncan MacNeill is on a mission—find gray wolf and former stockbroker Silverman who has stolen his family fortune and is purported to be living in the Grand Cayman Islands. As a Highland wolf, Duncan rarely leaves his native homeland, and taking a trip to an island paradise is not his dram of whiskey. But keeping the MacNeill's ancestral castle depends on making Silverman pay.

Silverman never believed that MacNeill would actually track him down, and he's ready to run. But when a beautiful botanist catches Silverman's and MacNeill's attention, these two alphas realize they have even more to fight over...

3.5 stars, rounded up to 4.

Take a Highlander werewolf and send him on a mission to Grand Cayman Island. Add in a beautiful she-wolf. Mmmmm, a sexy and amusing read.

When I think of a Highlander, I envision a man in a kilt in a drafty castle somewhere in Scotland. When that Highlander is a werewolf, let’s just say that the man becomes all that more attractive and well sculpted. Now, envision that same Highlander werewolf out of his comfort zone, on a beach in Grand Cayman – Yum!

A Howl for a Highlander is the 10th book in Terry Spear’s Heart of the Wolf series. What’s nice about this series is that each book is self-contained and it is possible to read the books in almost any order you wish, without feeling like you have missed any pertinent details from the previous books. I know, I’ve read them out of order and enjoyed each book I’ve read so far.

A Howl for a Highlander is the story of Duncan MacNeil, a Scottish werewolf who is sent to Grand Cayman on the trail of Salisbury Silverman, a werewolf who has absconded with the MacNeil clan’s fortune, among others. Duncan is one of 4 brothers, quadruplets actually, and his eldest brother Ian is the Laird of Argent Castle. As a result of the loss of money, the MacNeil clan had to resort to renting out their castle to a movie crew in order to make up for the missing funds.

Upon his arrival in Grand Cayman, Duncan senses an unmated she-wolf traveling on her own. Eager to investigate, he offers a ride to her hotel. She agrees, provided he drives an elderly couple to their hotel as well. When Duncan finally arrives at his hotel, he finds out that there are no more rooms left at any of the hotels on the island. He is without lodging and ends up at Shelley’s villa. Shelley is a botanist and is on Grand Cayman on a grant to study the vegetation. Her grant money has not come through because someone has ripped off the university.

Duncan and Shelley become close very quickly. Duncan is distracted by Shelley and she enjoys his attention. I loved the wolf mating rituals – these two were so perfect for each other. Of course, their courtship does not go smoothly because Duncan is on a mission to find the missing money and Sal Silverman is one slippery character. As Duncan and Shelley get closer to Sal, the situation gets hairier and hairier (pun intended) and very dangerous.

The situation for Shelley becomes even more interesting when her Uncle Ethan shows up with a few demands of his own. The negotiations between Ethan and Duncan showed another side of the werewolf mating rituals and were quite amusing.

A memorable scene for me was the pirate cruise where Duncan challenged the pirate actors to a sword fight. Absolutely hilarious. Even funnier was that the whole scene was filmed and uploaded to YouTube.

I know that when I pick up one of Ms. Spear’s books, I will be entertained. A Howl for a Highlander is full of fun, lighthearted moments, some moonlight sexiness, and fur flying action. If you love your werewolves with a Scottish brogue, you’ll enjoy this book.

Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks for a review copy of this book.

The first thing you need to know is, this is not my genre of book at all! I chose this book strictly for the word “Highlander” in the title and to be honest, I was hoping for a few good claymore battles on the Scottish moors with gorgeous men in kilts set in the 14th century. What I got instead was a Contemporary Scottish Werewolf novel set in the Grand Cayman Islands… and I really liked it! …What the heck?

The tenth in the series of Highland Wolves, this book is about Duncan MacNeill, youngest of quadruplets. He had come to the Grand Cayman Island in search of Salisbury Silverman, known as Sal, an American gray werewolf who stole all the savings from Duncan’s clan…among others. But those others are human and not really any of his concern. He was just concentrating on getting his clan’s money back, making sure it never happened again, then returning home to Scotland. The first thing he noticed when he got off the plane in the tropical paradise was the scent of a female wolf… alone! They quickly spotted each other and Duncan decided that he had to meet her and instinct told him he needed to protect her.

My Thoughts

Let me start off by saying that this is my first book by Terry Spears and she didn't disappoint me and won't be the last. I love her style of writing. This plot was filled with great characters and had a smooth flowing plot with bits of intrigue and danger and a very endearing couple who found romance and love and one's mate among the danger and intrigue going on around them. The book was a page turner from the very first page couldn't wait to see what happened next.

I have to say that Duncan and Shelley were very likable characters and easy to relate to.Duncan won my heart from the very beginning of the story with his good deed straight off the bat and I knew then that I was going to fall in love with him ! Ah....

Duncan is on a mission to go a find the man who has stolen there fortune which brings him to the Caribbean where the thief is hiding out in his compound.Without the funds return the clan will fall to ruin. It's up to Duncan to get the funds back and restored to his Laird who is also his brother before its to late. Here on the island he meets Shelley Campbell botanist who is on the island to study the old growth forests who turns out to be a mesmerizing little werewolf who he meets at the airport.

Who would of thought running into another of your kind on a Caribbean Island know less !Duncan's attraction to the sexy wolf is not one he needs to have when he is on a mission ! But, fate has other ideas...when the one that Duncan is stalking takes and interest in his pretty little werewolf he now has a new complication he did not need. Now, he is thinking there will have to be a new plan as her safety is most important.

Although this couple has gone to the island for different reasons and neither on vacation like most people would be they both turn to one another when both are in need of help. The attraction between this couple is explosive from the onset.Shelley and Duncan made the cutest couple even though Duncan is looking at there situation as a fling and no more.

Shelley surprised me. I found her to be witty and funny and tough as nails when she needed to be.Love -able and loyal and fierce when those threaten who and what she cares about.Who would have thought that the little botanist was a warrior at heart !And Duncan a fierce Highlander with a loving and caring side to him.Protective and loyal and dangerously sexy with and aura that says danger....

Just loved this story all around and if I could give it more than five stars I would. This story contained all the things I love shape-shifters wolves and great plot that had you so engrossed because it was constantly changing bringing more danger at every turn wondering what next ? Loved the developing romance between this couple. There were tons of sexy encounters for you to read about among and some really hot sex scenes that would have anyone salivating! And of course a few tears and laughter. But, most of all Duncan ,who touched my heart with his big Highlander heart both fierce and protective of not only when it came to Shelley but, that of the way he spoke of his Laird and clan and family had your heart melting. I was In love right from the very beginning.I was glad to be on Duncan's adventure with him were danger lurked at every turn taking you for one heck of a ride. And I loved the setting of this book.It had me intrigued that you would put a brawny highlander smack dab in the middle of a Caribbean ! The descriptions of the tropical island and that of Duncan's home had you feeling that you were right there with them. And most of all you got to love it when a mere slip of she-wolf brings a fierce hunky highlander to his knees. That's Priceless ! A excellent read just Loved it.

Recommended read to all ! After reading this story and just had to go an order the rest of Terry Spears books and did just that !The finished book went into my keeper pile and has earned a new place among all my other favorite books. You know that you have written a great book when the reader can't wait to read the book all over again after just finishing it!.

Charming Duncan MacNeill from Heart of the Highland Wolf is dispatched to the Cayman Islands to get the clan's money back from financial swindler, Sal Silverman. Duncan spots female wolf Shelley Campbell across the airport and would like nothing better than to while away a few hours with her - after he gets the funds back of course. Shelley, a botanist, is visiting from her job at a Texas University getting information for her classes next year on rare plants and finds out that the University's money has been stolen by the same swindler and she can't afford this trip on her own. Both Duncan and Shelley were excellent and likable characters with great chemistry as a couple. Villain Sal Silverman was slick, slimy and entitled, believing everyone who got swindled needed to be swindled since they weren't smart enough to avoid it. He's also determined that he will have Shelley as a second mate.
This was a perfect read for me. The action, romance, secondary characters, a visit to the Highland MacNeill clan and especially the backdrop of a couple seemingly on their honeymoon - doing honeymoon activities were all perfectly paced and woven. Shelley's family promises to bring their own flavor to the Highlands as they have issues with their shared history.
I'm completely enchanted with this series. With a variety of clans to focus on and each having its own thread I can read back to back installments and not get bored. I also like that each story feels like part of the series while working just as well as a stand-alone read.

Duncan MacNeill has been sent to paradise to collect his families fortune stolen by Silverman. Duncan is a highland wolf and part of the MacNeill Clan. Everything is dependent on his success including the MacNeill’s castle home. He can’t afford to be distracted in any way.

Shelley Campbell is a botanist and a wolf shifter. She is heading to the Grand Cayman Islands to study the dry forest. When she arrives she discovers that her grant has been embezzled by a Mr. Silverman and she is without funds to pay for her trip. Lucky for her, Duncan’s reservations got messed up. Now Duncan needs a place to stay and she needs a room mate to pay 1/2.

Shelley never expected to gain the attention of not 1 but 2 wolves. Caught in the mist of nefarious plans, Shelley must lean on Duncan to survive. Duncan will have to choose between focusing on Shelley safety or saving his clan from finical ruin. This harden warrior might just find out that he has someone new to watch his back.

I love the highland wolves! This was fabulously written story, extremely descriptive, you feel like you are right there on The Grand Cayman Island with the characters. The romantic chemistry is hot. And to top it off Howl for A Highlander has a stimulating plot with lots of action and adventure. Oh Yeah, Terry Spears even gets in the kilts and sword play :D. Wonderful addition to the Heart of the Wolf Series, you won’t want to miss out on this engaging story.

Hopefully I'll get a chance to write a real review but ... I won this ARC thru Goodreads first reads, so the happiness factor going into reading this was a plus. I liked Howl for a Highlander though I'd forgotten that Spears' books were on the smexier side (but I think that mainstream PNR has closed the gap since I last read one of her Wolf books.) I like the idea of werewolves with a brogue but Spears made us wait 'til almost the end for the payoff sexy shifter in a kilt:)

This one worked for me since even though there is an instant attraction between the shifter H/h they can't act on it until they are ready to commit to each other because consummation = lifetime mates, so the tension build up is good. I also liked that the attraction discombobulates the broody, it's-all-about-my-job-protecting-my-clan-so-I-don't-have-a-real-life hero. I think I liked the previous book just a bit more, because I liked seeing the other Highland were brothers, but I still liked this enough to hope that the other two get a book too.

Overall, I loved this story. There was so much humor, wit, and heat that I found myself laughing and needing a cold shower in equal parts. Duncan and Shelley are great characters and make a great couple, with a perfect blending of personalities and acceptance of each other’s shortcomings. It was also good to see a satisfactory outcome to the clan’s financial issues. There were some great fight scenes and cute scenes with the H/H in their wolf coats, with tons of imagery and vivid descriptions from the wolf’s POV. I am already beginning to salivate for Cearnach’s story, coming in May 2013. When this book hits the shelves I predict that they won't stay full for long.

While certainly not my favorite of Spear's Highland wolf love stories, I think Duncan and Shelley have a great charm to them- and a heavy lust, even for one of these books. What took away for me was the passing over of some heavier subject matter (TW for suicide in this book) that I did not appreciate in the story, however brief. I don't think it has the re-readability of some of her other books, and I personally would say it's probably skippable in the grand scheme.

I enjoyed this paranormal romance set in Grand Cayman Island. The main werewolf characters, romance and plot were all good. An aspect I liked was that incorporated into the get the bad guys action was participation in some local island attractions. Conrad is on a quest to recover money a crook stole from his clan when he encounters Shelly a botanist who is there to study plants in a forest.

4.5 out of 5

Duncan is on a mission to get his clans money back from a con-artist who must not have realized that he has stolen from a wolf clan. To top it off, the con-artist is a wolf. Duncan, the youngest of the MacNeill clan, has left his home in Scotland for the Grand Caymans. He can't afford to be distracted as his family is depending on him. What he wasn't expecting was Shelley Campbell, a botanist professor and sassy she-wolf that hits him with instant chemistry after he tracks down her scent straight out of the airport. Once Shelley realizes who he is she gives him a little hell since her family was kicked out of the highlands due to the higher up. Yet she still agrees to his lift and going for a drink later that night. Once she sees her grant money has been embezzled, she also lends him a room with a price of course. Duncan will pay half the costs to stay and together they will partner up to track down the scoundrel who stole their funds.

Spear's delivers another fix to my addiction of her wolves. If you have not checked out any of Spear's wolves you are seriously missing out especially if you are a hardcore shifter girl like me. This is the tenth book in the series and though you get revisits from previous characters, I think it's written well enough to be read as a standalone. These books are just so delightful I would go back and read the rest just to enjoy each delicious read for its own context.

Shelley is sassy, smart and playful. She is loyal to her family but feels an instant sizzling connection to Duncan. She knew her family wouldn't thoroughly enjoy them connecting, even for something innocent as drinks, since they were kicked out of the highlands thanks to their rank. It might not have been “his” family but you know the whole guilty by association thing comes into play.

Duncan.... oh Duncan, I can just hear that sexy Scottish brogue with your smexy self in my head as I was reading. No wonder there was instant passion between him and Shelley. It was burning up the pages under my fingers. Duncan is also fierce when it comes to making sure other males know Shelley is his. One in particular, happens to be the villain they are after.

I loved the sexual tension building up and then explode into such passionate steamy sex. I kinda wish it had been drawn out a wee bit more. That being said, Spear made it up to me by a whole bunch of hotness on my pages filled with tender romance that made me swoon. I am never disappointed reading one of this author's books. I always crave them more and want my next fix faster.

I never imagined that I would visit Grand Cayman Island with a hunky Highland wolf-shifter, but that's exactly what happened when I read "A Howl for a Highlander" from talented storyteller Terry Spear! The author's own visit to the island paradise fueled her well-defined powers of description and eye for detail, and you'll feel as though you too are seeing the sparkling sea, the shining sand, and the lush flora and greenery of the island. You'll also hear the deep purr of the hero's Scottish burr as you read his words! Duncan MacNeill may be the youngest of quadruplets by birth order, but by self-determination, he has made himself the most fierce! When scoundrel wolf-shifter and financier Sal Silverman steals the MacNeill clan funds, and leaves a trail of the broken bank accounts of others around the world, Duncan swears to stop the thief and make things right for all. Tracking the mongrel shifter to his home on the island, Duncan plans to wreak full vengeance. He must be careful, however, and not reveal the true wolf nature of Silverman or the MacNeills. As soon as Duncan arrives at the island airport, he immediately detects the presence of a tempting she-wolf-shifter, and try as he might, he can't resist the urge to check her out. Beautiful red-haired she-wolf Shelley Campbell is a professor of botany, on the island through a research grant. While she is drawn by the male wolf's potent Scottish charm and Highland brawn, she tries to keep her mind on her research mission. The fates have other plans for both Duncan and Shelley, however, and he ends up as a guest at the villa rented for Shelley's stay on the island. It turns out that Silverman also stole the grant money from Shelley's employer, and she needs Duncan to split expenses with her. Being in close quarters is torturous temptation--when two wolf-shifters mate, they mate for life, so an "island fling" just won't work. Or will it lead to something much greater? As Shelley and Duncan grow closer while they work to recover the stolen money and put an end to Silverman's criminal career, might they also find an unexpected, life-changing love? If you are a fan of paranormal romance featuring awesome Alphas and the feisty fab females who are their match-mates, then you will truly enjoy "A Howl for a Highlander" and the entire "Heart of a Wolf" series from author Terry Spear!

Our Review, by LITERAL ADDICTION's Pack Alpha - Michelle L. Olson:
*eARC received from NetGalley

Terry Spear has a very good thing going with her HEART OF THE WOLF series and my favorites so far have had to do with those sexy highland wolves...

This one had a cool concept. I liked the set up, I loved the way that she overlapped the stories to create cohesion between the characters, and there were just enough surprises.

Shelley is a professor of botany and on a research trip to the Cayman Islands. She locks eyes with a sexy Scottish wolf in the airport and there's instant chemistry.

Duncan is younger brother to the Laird of MacNeil castle. He's in Grand Cayman trying to track down a con artist wolf that has utterly and completely ripped of his pack and family, not to mention countless others. Once he spies the sexy redhead in the airport he has trouble thinking of much else.

Fate and circumstances push the two together and they end up as roomates and partners in trying to take down the sleezy, slimy con man.

While neither planed for it, they can't escape their attraction and one thing leads to another; their mission, families, and others' expectations be damned.

A Howl for the Highlander was another super sexy 4 Skull highland wolf read from Terry Spear and I enjoyed it a lot

There was something about it that wouldn't allow me to give it a higher rating though. I think it was the all-of-a-sudden abruptness to the culmination of Shelley and Duncan's relationship. It was going along great, plenty of sexual tension, lots of action, the story led well to their relationship progressing, etc, and then all of a sudden they were just 'together'. It was still good, but it reminded a lot me of how I feel when I read PNR Novellas; like they're just not long enough to hold the full story and feel like they're rushed. This wasn't on that level, but it was the same type of feeling. I might have been able to give this 5 skulls if it were a bit longer and drawn out just a tad more...

I am so glad to continue on with this Heart of the Wolf series and the world of wolves that Terry Spear has created. In this installment we continue on with Duncan and Shelley's story, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Something about this Highlander wolf, Duncan, caught my attention. Maybe it was the accent?! Probably :)

I was really excited going into reading this story for some reason. I thought the romance aspect of the book was okay. In the beginning, it was turning out to be a bit of insta-love, sometimes I have a problem with that and sometimes I don't. It just depends on how the author go about it. I liked how the insta-love slowed down though. At first it was turning out to be really fast paced, but as the book continued, things slowed down between the two characters and you started to see the connection and the chemistry between the two and that was greatly appreciated! I loved Duncan, of course. Always the males :) He was very protective and very alpha. Sometimes a little too protective, but come on, who wants a weakling? lol And I also thought Shelley was a great mate for him. She was strong minded and didn't let Duncan's alpha tendencies overpower what she believed was right. A strong female lead is what I love in a book and Shelley was the perfect one for him.

The story line in this installment kept my interest. The issue with the Highlander's pack money being taken and Duncan being the one to try to get it really had me intrigued to find out how things would play out. There was some great entertainment in this book and it was page turner in my eyes. I finished this book in the span of a day. That tells you something!

I definitely recommend this series to those of you who love wolf shifter stories and a good paranormal romance to occupy your time :) Thanks so much to Netgalley for providing me with an arc of A Howl for A Highlander. All thoughts are my honest opinion!

Terry Spear does it yet again. Howl for a Highlander brings us the story of Duncan MacNeill, one of the hunky Highland wolf quadruplets we met in Heart of a Highland Wolf. Duncan has left his homeland for Grand Cayman Island and is hunting down the thief that stole his family’s fortune. With a single plan on his mind he has no desire to play tourist while on the island. Little did he know his plans would be sidetracked by the sexy little she wolf Shelley Campbell as soon as he departed the plane. Sensing a female wolf all alone, well, what could any self respecting male do but make sure she was protected and entertained. Tracking down the thief and protecting Shelley from an over amorous wolf doesn’t keep the two of them from finding a little time to enjoy the beautiful island.

As with every Terry Spear novel, her descriptive writing draws you into the story and you’ll feel like you’re on the island right along with Duncan and Shelley. With just the right amount of romance, humour, and suspense Howl for a Highlander showcases everything we’ve come to love of Terry Spear. Each and every character comes with a story all their own and make their way into the hearts of the readers, not to be forgotten. Terry Spear has a seamless way of bringing characters together whether they run the forests in America or the ageless castles in Scotland, you never know who’s going to show up in a future book.

If you aren’t already a fan of Terry’s, Howl for a Highlander will win you over and have you running to read about the rest of her wolves. From Highlanders, SEALs, and everything in between, no one writes sexy alpha wolves like Terry Spear.

I received this book as an ARC from the wonderful author Terry Spear. I have never been disappointed in any of her books and I definitely was NOT disappointed in this one. I absolutely LOVED it and I can't wait to read more of what she has to offer. Her writing style flows gracefully from one instance to another which makes it easy to read and understandable. Her descriptons and characters were so vivid that while reading it I could imagine being there and experiencing everything going on around me. For all the romance lovers out there, this book is definitely jam packed with it. What makes it better is that the hero of the story is none other than Duncan, a Highland wolf. Travelling to the Cayman Islands is not what he considers a vacation but he is determined to find the man that has stolen all of the pack's funds and return it to his pack. He ends up meeting a lone she-wolf that captures his attention and drives his highland heart wild. Duncan is not the alpha of his pack but his alpha personality makes him just as strong and lethal. I love how not only can he be a strong and lethal warrior but he also has a tender side when it involves the lovely and stubborn Shelley. Thrown together by unexpected circumstances they begin to work together as they embark on a dangerous road of securing the funds that were stolen from Duncan's pack from a greedy alpha while also trying to fight off the attraction to one another. Will Duncan go home with a mate and with the money that was stolen from his family?

Whenever you start a book by Terry Spear you never have to worry if you will enjoy it or not. The only thing you have to worry about is whether or not you have enough uninterrupted time to read her wonderful story straight through. You see I didn’t think about that when I started reading ‘A Howl for a Highlander’. I ended up staying up until 3:00 in the morning lost in this fascinating and romantic world of wolf shifters. Was it worth being tired and dragged out the next day? YES!

Duncan MacNeill is sent by his clan to an island paradise in order to recover the millions that was stolen from them While at the airport he smells an unaccompanied female shifter. Being the gentleman he is he offers to help her get to where she is staying. Duncan can’t afford to be distracted from his mission but Shelley is so… interesting…

Shelley knows she cannot get in a relationship with a male shifter because that only leads to being permanently mated. When she attracts the eye of the man who not only stole the MacNeill money but the grant money from her college as well, things become dangerous in this beautiful paradise getaway.

While this book could totally be read as a standalone book I have to recommend that you read the rest of the series as well. While you are at it go ahead and read any book you can find that Ms. Spear has written. Her books are the perfect little getaways and you will be so happy you did!

Terry Spear is fast becoming one of my favorite authors so as soon as this one popped up on Netgalley I was very excited. As usual Spear has managed to take her wolves to places I would never have thought. This time we find our wolves in the Cayman Islands. Of course not on vacation, but they will have some fun.

Now As usual I have not been ready these in order but if you have this one takes place after Hear of the Highland Wolf. It seems that the MacNeil clan has found themselves swindled out of all of their cash and is hot on the trail of the man, who is actually a wolf, responsible. That trail leads Duncan to a tropical paradise and a hot female wolf who is there doing research but finds herself swindled by the same wolf.

This book definetely has a high hotness factor. Spear's wolves are usually totally sexy alpha males but Duncan is sexy times two! Just imagining the accent.. And of course are heroine is pretty alpha herself. This is another thing I love about Spears werewolf series. All of her female leads are strong and independent. There are no damsels in distress waiting to be saved. These lady wolfs can take care of themselves with their sharp wit and equally as sharp fangs.

Of all the different werewolves out there Terry Spear's are the most fun. Be sure to add this one to you TBR pile!

There is just 'something' about a Highlander, rough, tough, hot-add being a wolf shifter, maybe throw in a kilt, romantic tension with a nefarious plot and once again, I am glued to another Terry Spears book!

Duncan MacNeill has set out to regain his family's fortune, stolen by Salisbury Silverman, an American gray wolf, a financial fraud genius with world-wide warrants out for his arrest. Sal is hiding out in the Cayman Islands and that's where Duncan has gone.

At the airport Duncan is distracted by the scent of a female werewolf. Not. What. He. Needed. When he finds her, she is beautiful, sexy and not too happy about him ogling her. Oops.

Shelley Campbell is a red werewolf and botanist on a trip to study plant life. She is independent, has a chip on her shoulder and is not intimidated by Duncan, which only peaks his interest MORE!

Shelley gets caught up in the drama between Sal and Duncan. Not only has she caught Duncan's eye, but Sal is drawn to her, also. Duncan must find a way to keep Shelley safe and get his family's money back.

Terry Spear has a way with storytelling! There is romance, action, and plots that thoroughly entertain! A Great just for fun read!

This ARC copy of A Howl for the Highlander was given to me by Netgalley andSourcebooks Casablanca in exchange for an honest review. Publish Date February 1, 2013

Shelley Campbell is a botanist and a shifter. She has came to the Grand Cayman Island to study the rare plant life there. She is studing plants to see if any can stop a shift or help someone to shift who can't. She rents a villa thinking to use her grant money to help pay for it. She finds out that someone has stolen the shcools grant money. Shelley did not come to the island to get involed with a man but she doesn't count on a sexy highland alpha wolf to give her a ride from the airport to her villa. When he asks her out she finds herself agreeing to meet him for drinks later.
Duncan MacNeil has came to the Grand Caymen Island to hunt down the man who stole the clans money. Duncan ends up without a hotel room and Shelley suggests that he rents a room from her at the villa she is staying at. Duncan came to the island to get the clans money back but he ends up falling for a lone female wolf. When Shelley finds out the real reason Duncan is at the Islands she wants to help him catch the theif. Shelley worries about how her family will react to Duncan seeing as years ago her family was ran off of the land they were farming so that the laird could raise sheep.

I just love Ms Spears werewolf books. This one is one of the best ones yet.

Great so far!!!!! My fav lines are-
"We'll have to make some sleeping rules."
"Aye. No snoring, no kicking, no stealing the covers."

It was so good! I love Duncan's family and Shelley's too!

Re-reading this book, I am in love with one of the beginning scenes when Duncan was "protecting" Shelley from the sharks and she asks if he would ever let her come to his castle to see the gardens. I love that they were both hopeful about the future of their relationship, even during the beginning!

"Not having realized how disinterested he was with plants, she felt some-what disappointed...Not that she truly expected any man that she became intrigued with to be a big plant lover. But it would be nice." and then "She was disappointed he'd say that, implying she was one of the public and wouldn't be welcome."
"Then he ran to catch up. 'If you did come to Scotland and wanted to see the gardens, you could stay at the castle.'"

Terry Spear does again!
First off, who wouldn't love a Highland wolf that's a true warrior and wields a sword like it's nobody's business? He's on a mission to get back the money that's been stolen from his clan. Not to be forgotten is the fiesty female wolf that's out to find an herb or plant to aid in the shifting for newly turned werewoves. Put the two of them together, and you have sparks and speedos flying. Toss in an island paradise and a wolfy con artist, and you're sunk hook, line, and sinker.
The character build up is great. The plot has plenty of twists and turns to keep you on your toes. Ms. Spear really knows how to deliver. You won't want to put this book down once you have started, so make sure you have plenty of time to spend on the white sandy beaches and in the aqua water with Duncan and Shelley.
This book is part of a series, but can be read as a stand alone with no trouble. Make sure you check out the rest of the series starting off with Heart of the Wolf.

3 stars.

We're back with the Highlander quadruplets. Duncan is the youngest and the most warrior-like of the brothers. He decided to go to the Caribbean to chase the man who swindled all of their clan's money. When he got there, there's a mix-up with his accommodation and just happens to meet she-wolf botanist Shelley who was there trying to find a plant that could help werewolves control their shifting. He wrangled a deal to stay at her villa for half-cost.

When the swindler started hitting on Shelley, Duncan decided to go all bodyguard protective, especially when it appears that someone is out to kill her...

Another ok read from the series. There's bloodshed in these books but they are pretty tame. I did think that the denouement of the swindler was a bit too easy though.

Full Review posted on A Book Lovin' Mama's Blog

"A Howl for a Highlander" actually continues the story of the MacNeill family and what I learned in the "Heart of the Highland Wolf" book. (which by the way I am still in love with Ian MacNeill...*sigh*)
Duncan is stubborn, but so is Shelley in this book. I liked Shelley more than Duncan. She did not want to sit back; she wanted to help Duncan...and, of course, Duncan threw in issues with why he did not want her help. Stubborn Male!!
The sexual tension between them both and also the sex scenes were off the charts. Let's say they did a lot in the ocean together. =)

When money is stolen from the clan, Duncan MacNeill travels to the Cayman Islands to recover it and deal with thief, Silverman. On his arrival he meets tempting she-wolf Shelly Campbell. He is determined not to be distracted, especially not by Shelly, but fate has other plans for both of them.

I loved this latest addition in the Heart of the Wolf series. Spear's Alphas are always fun to read about, but her Highlanders I do love the most. I mean really what is not to like - werewolf highlander in a kilt with oh so sexy accents. A Howl for a Highland was a fantastic read with adventure and steamy scenes to keep you turning the page. The desire and temptation between the unmated couple Duncan and Shelly were delicious. I look forward to reading more of Highlanders in this series.

Hot highlander shifter in a vacation paradise meets an intelligent and feisty female were. Seriously, there could be no other plot point other than that and Terry would have a winner. Of course she adds in a mystery, some suspense, a whole lot of heat and sprinkled it with a few surprises in this " I could not put it down" read. I am kicking myself for not finding this series earlier. She has amazing lore, interesting and fun characters and my personal weakness, shifters. You do not need to have any background into her world in order to enjoy this novel. I never felt like I was missing out key information or that I was coming into the story part way through. I will be going back to read the rest of this series, though. Yummy Goodness, I tell you, Yummy Goodness.

This is really more of a 4.5 because of minor (personal) issues with the story, but I'd never read Terry Spears before and got a chance to read an ARC of this book. Glad I did. Absolutely.

This is the first time I've read any of Terry Spear's books. Have to say it was a excellent read! Looking forward to reading more by her. But then, I do love Highlanders that's for sure.
