Do you believe in love at first sight? Neither Dylan Kincaid nor Darcy Witherspoon were looking for love, but something happened that first time Darcy walked into her friend, Tom’s restaurant and laid eyes on Dylan. It was an inexplicable feeling, like a pull, or something electric. But, the timing and the place were all wrong. Or were they?

“She liked this guy. She’d be lying to herself if she thought otherwise. Was she setting herself up for heartache by spending more time with him?”

Let me introduce you to our two main characters. Darcy Witherspoon lives in Charleston, South Carolina. She has achieved her dream of owning her very own restaurant and has worked darn hard to get it. But she receives the worst possible of phone calls. Her restaurant is on fire. So, she has some time while the fire marshals do their job and investigate the fire. She decides to go and visit her good friend, Tom whom she met in culinary school. He owns a restaurant in Black Moose, Vermont and has invited her to come and spend Christmas with him. Little did she know that Tom had a little plan of his own. He has a good friend he wants Darcy to meet.

Dylan Kincaid has had a perfect life. He and his brother grew up on his parent’s maple tree farm. His parents have decided to retire and travel so he bought the farm and runs it himself. In the winter he also works at the ski lodge part time. But his bachelor life has been put on hold. His older brother and his sister in law have been deployed and they want Dylan to take care of their two little girls in their absence which Dylan readily agrees to. He wants nothing more than to be the best Uncle to his nieces possible and to give them a wonderful Christmas. He is finding out, though, that filling his brother’s shoes is not an easy task. The small community of Black Moose counted on his brother for lots of things and they all expect Dylan to fill in. And, he is not exactly experienced at caring for two little girls that miss their parents so much. So the last thing on his mind was love the day Darcy walked into his life.

Darcy and Dylan both admit that they felt something. But, Darcy’s life is in So. Carolina and Dylan’s is here in Black Moose. So they agree to just be friends. But the more time they spend together and get to know one another, the harder that becomes. This small town life is not what Darcy is accustomed to but seeing the closeness of the community, even helping Dylan and his nieces cut down their own Christmas tree and decorating it, she begins to wonder if maybe she could fit into life here.

“Could falling in love be that easy? Could everything that had mattered to her just a week ago no longer hold the importance it once had? Could she really be holding her life, her future, right here?”

This really was a sweet holiday read. The two little girls stole my heart. And to watch love bloom between Dylan and Darcy was so heart warming. But I think what I liked most about this book was the way that the author, Autumn Jordon, depicted the reality of what so many of our families are experiencing that have a loved one or ones that are serving in our military and have to be away from their family during the holidays, or any time for that matter. How it affects not only their children but how the extended family step up to help out. And the way this particular family all came together to make sure the girls had a good Christmas was beautiful. I think my favorite part, though, was the epilogue. I admit that a tear or two (happy tears) escaped my eyes. And left me with a smile on my face and a warm heart.

2.5 This is a cute story, but if clarity and continuity issues bother you, skip it. For instance:

The cute meet is they both think the other person is dating someone so they ignore the instant attraction.

Later when they meet again, the guy says that he knows that Tom (the guy he thought she was dating) was going to ask his girlfriend to marry him on Christmas.

Stuff like that pulled me out of the story.

I found this read on Amazon while I was searching out some Christmas themed stories to feature on my blog for the holiday season.

I was relieved that this story focused on the holiday's and was not just one of those stories that put Christmas in the title. The whole premise of the story was that Dylan wanted to make Christmas perfect for his two nieces while their parents were oversees serving their country.

Enter Darcy and the sparks fly instantly. The chemistry between the two was so obvious that I could feel it. Then add in the typical plot of the two trying to fight their attraction to each other for "practical" reasons and you have a nice Christmas read.

While I have a hard time being convinced that chemistry and love is so instant this book took me away to where it was. I guess if it had not then then it would not have served it's purpose of taking me away to a world outside of reality. Add in a couple of adorable children and I was transported for a little while to a mountain village during the holidays. While reading this I was inspired to get a move on my Christmas wrapping so it served it's purpose as advertised.

A nice quick read just in time for the holidays!

This book was annoying on multiple levels. The editing was terrible and I don't think anyone checked it for continuity.

It was confusing that the two main characters Darcy and Dylan both thought each other were in a relationship. Dylan thought Darcy was in a relationship with her friend Tom... But then you find out tom is proposing to his girlfriend and Dylan knows about it... It makes absolutely no sense.

One of the first scenes they are drinking whiskey in a bar, then suddenly it's coffee? The attention to detail was subpar.

I'm shocked I made it through, there was so little plot line and almost no payoff in the end. Far too cutesy as well.

Review:

"Perfect" by Autumn Jordon was a wonderful love Christmas story. It will be a short read that will put a beautiful smile on your face as you will be kept reading until the very end. Who knew that after Darcy's dream went up in smoke she travels to Black Moose, VT to visit her old friend during the Christmas holidays where he could help her with her grief. It was on this visit that Darcy meets her old friend's best friend, Dylan Kincaid. Was is love a first site? We find Dylan is caring for his two nieces who parents were in the service. Dylan is trying to make the girls holiday a perfect one since Thanksgiving had not gone so well. So, with Dylan working on his job, the many jobs that his brother had taken on in this small town and trying to keep it all together for the girls, he realized he had his hands full. After Darcy and Dylan meet they immediately notice the instant attraction, however it would soon established that they just wanted to be friends especially due to fact they were not interested in a 'short affair nor a long distance relationship.' Would this friendship really work out the way these two had wanted it? This is where I say you must pick up "Perfect" to see how this author brings this Christmas romance all out. I found all of the characters so well developed and oh so colorful.

The title "Perfect" is so perfect for the Christmas season. So if you are looking for a novel that is sweet, fast read with a romantic holiday theme with all the trimmings ...then you have come to the right place and I would definitely recommend this novel to you. This was a beautiful Christmas story.

Darcy Witherspoon's dream was to have her own restaurant. After completing culinary school, she had finally achieved that dream but her restaurant burned down the week before Christmas. She called her friend Tom who went to culinary school with her and, to give her a quiet place to grieve, he invited her to visit him in Black Moose, VT. where he also had a restaurant. So she left her home in Charleston and went to Black Moose. There she met Dylan Kincaid, Tom's friend and a maple tree farmer (among other jobs). Dylan is looking after his two nieces while their parents have been deployed overseas.

Even though Darcy and Dylan are strongly attracted to each other, they see that a relationship would not be a good idea since neither wanted a short affair or long distance relationship. So they decided to just be friends. Easier said than done for these two.

Dylan is trying to make his niece's holiday a perfect one but having a hard time of it because he just doesn't have enough time - or experience in this kind of stuff. Dylan really is trying to do it all by working his job, the many volunteer jobs that his brother had taken on for the small town as well as trying to keep everything together for the girls when he realizes he probably has taken on more than he can handle. Darcy steps in to help him out.

I loved the characters in Perfect. The character development was well done and made me feel I really knew Darcy and Dylan. The description of the scenes was terrific also. It was easy to picture the snowy wonderland in Black Moose. Perfect is a quick romantic holiday story that made me smile a lot.

There were some editing issues that were irritating but generally this was a wonderful Christmas novel and I would recommend it.

Perfect by Autumn Jordan
Darcy Witherspoon has just watched her restaurant burn and now there was nothing left to do.
Dylan Kincaid is watching his two nieces as their parents are off fighting the war overseas. He has to pull off Christmas for two girls and has no idea what their interests are. He is a VT maple tree farmer.
Knowing the general area this is going to be a great book. Love reading about the area and most particularly trees as my relatives were nurserymen. Love all the jobs he has and learning about them all.
They met at Tom's restaurant, the old grist mill and she had just driven up from SC and would be staying there getting things settled after the fire. Loved hearing about the history of the grist mill and all the detailed descriptions of the rooms and outside area.
Tom will work his skill with matchmaking them together and hopefully keep her there longterm because they'd be perfect for one another.
Dylan and Darcy come to an agreement, she will help him decorate and bake and cook dinner and he will teach her to ski.
They take things slow but each are on the others mind.
Problem: his parents show up to help out with the girls...
Tom and the grist mill restaurant have a new dream now, maybe she can have a new dream also....
Just when things are sexually heating up and you think nothing else bad can happen, it does...
Awesome book for this time of year, just the right touch of things I look forward to in a book. Baking, travel=locale, nature with a bit of romance/sex.

I love reading stories with happy endings, especially those that include love between the hero and heroine and also love between family and friends. 'Perfect' is one of those books that fit into the category, and it has the Christmas' mood that is 'perfect' for the season.

My only complaint is that it has some editing errors. But leaving them behind, it is a nice, fast and romantic holiday reading. Really liked it.

Really sweet and heart-warming romance. I really enjoyed the main story line and the characters, as well as the underlying stories and secondary characters. The overall writing and dialog were well done, but editing was lacking. A few continuity problems with names, too, but nothing to the point that it ruined the book. Over all it was an easy, quick and enjoyable read, so I would definitely recommend it.

This story is a sweet romance set around the Christmas season. The characters, situations and ending are all things that could very easily happen in any small town in the United States. The author did a fabulous job describing the towns, and people. It made me feel like I was right there in the story watching it happen. I definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves happy endings.

This was a cute story. Dylan is a maple tree farmer (and painter) who is looking after his nieces while his brother and sister-in-law are deployed overseas. Darcy is visiting a friend after her restaurant burns down. The attraction is instant and quick. I was pleasantly surprised and thought the pacing was decent. There were a few formatting issues that took me out of the story. Both characters are like-able and I thought the romance/attraction was believable. No on page sexy times, kissing only.

Tis the season for sweet Christmas romances....

Darcy Witherspoon's dream was to have her own restaurant after studying with the best chefs. She though she had finally achieved that dream when it went up in flames - literally. She decides to head to Black Moose, VT to visit her old friend for the holidays to help in her grief. Not knowing that her friend has decided to play matchmaker.

Dylan Kincaid is taking care of his 2 little nieces as both their parents are deployed overseas. He is trying his best to give the girls as close to what their parents would for the holidays. He ruined Thanksgiving dinner but is hoping he can pull of Christmas without disappointing them. All this while still trying to keep up with his jobs plus all the ones his brother does for the small town for the holidays.

They are both instantly attracted to each other but arent interested in a short affair nor a long distance relationship so they decided to just stay friends. But there are many forces pushing them together along with a little Christmas nostalgia.

I found Perfect to be a very cute, "cleanish" read. I loved the struggle to love relationship between Darcy and Dylan. The love that Dylan had for his nieces was so cute and the friendship of Tom for Darcy was wonderful. This was a nice short read that will have you smiling at the end. I do wish the Epilogue was a little farther out but all in all I liked it!

Sweet story, at least what I read. Got up to 53%. Continuity issues, editing issues, just-too-sweet issues. There were also issues with not believing the actions/reactions of the characters.

I am sure that if none of the above bothers you or detracts from your ability to follow the story, then you will probably enjoy this. I hit my limit of issues and personal pet peeves.

Baseball star Hudson Mitchel is sick of paparazzi, sick of groupies, and sick of women throwing themselves at his feet. His playboy lifestyle has fueled a rash of bad publicity and his errors during the championship game is making matters worse. He needs to duck out of the limelight until things calm down. Dodging reporters, paparazzi, and ex-lovers, he shaves his trademark beard and checks into a golf resort near Black Moose, Vermont under an alias. The place is so remote his cabin doesn’t even have wi-fi. Which is just fine with him.
Sileen Wright has time for everyone but herself. She fights red ink at her granddad’s aging golf resort and chairs the Black Moose Chamber of Commerce. She’s even thinking of running for mayor. But first things first—she needs to get the fairground’s transformer replaced before the Fall Festival. If the event’s cancelled, tourists and their dollars will land at the upscale resort outside town and the business owners of Black Moose will be in for a hard winter.
What Sileen knows about baseball could fit in a thimble. She certainly has no idea the national superstar voted “Sexiest Sports Idol” is hiding out in one of her cabins. Sure, the guy’s handsome, but he’s a city boy through and through, useless when it comes to evading a mama bear.
It only seems right for Hudson to strike up a friendship with the woman who saved his hide from an angry bear. Being liked for himself—instead of for his body and fame—is a long-forgotten experience. Hudson’s enjoying Black Moose and its down-to-earth residents. And he’s falling for Sileen. Could it ever work out between them? She doesn’t have a deceitful bone in her body and Hudson’s been lying to her since they moment they met. He hasn’t even told her his real name! Sileen’s life is firmly planted in Black Moose, while Hudson’s career keeps him in big cities and on the road. Maybe they’re destined to be two ships passing in the night.
If you’re looking for a sweet story inhabited by characters so real you could swear you know them in real life, I highly recommend Perfect Fall. Autumn Jordon’s characters and setting come to life on the page. You’ll find yourself rooting for Hudson and Sileen, and maybe even plotting a little getaway to Black Moose for yourself.
Can a famous playboy athlete and a family-oriented country girl turn their Perfect Fall into Happily Ever After?
Spoiler alert: Yes!

Perfect is a nice holiday read.

Dylan and Darcy, two workaholics, who are thrown together by a mutual friend trying to play matchmaker for the pair.

Darcy is a chef whose restaurant in South Carolina burns down and her friend in Vermont invites her up to get away from the stress of seeing all her work as a chard mess and for her to try to take the opportunity for some down time to enjoy the holiday.

Darcy is introduced to Dylan who is under a lot of stress himself. He is taking care of his two young niece while and brother and sister-in-law are in the military and currently overseas. Of course, Dylan’s brother is Mr. Perfect and on top of the stress of trying to make the perfect Christmas for the girls, everyone is Town is trying to get Dylan to fill in for his brother in all the Town’s holiday preparation.

Both Darcy and Dylan agree that it is crazy to get too attached since they live very different live, they still are drawn to each other and Darcy wants to help Dylan make the perfect Christmas for the girls. Just when they think they might have just have things under control, both sets of grandparents show up to also help make Christmas special for the girls.

There is plenty of Christmas holiday in this story. Dylan does need to learn to say no to a people as he was already dealing with enough and remember that his perfect brother has a wife to help him with kids while he does all those special favors throughout the Town. The author should have upped the amount of cute kid time since that was a bit lacking.

This needs an editor to go over it. There were numerous easy errors that could have been corrected, including obvious accidental swapping of characters' names given the context of the rest of the paragraph or chapter. (Tom and Dylan swapped, Dylan and Darcy, etc.) It read like a spell check was done, but not a grammar check. If it irritates you when other people have bad grammar in texts or emails, then this book isn't for you.

Vermont Christmas story

A Christmas story that all can enjoy. Dylan and Darcy make a pact to be friends for the short time she’ll be in town. When dreams of making a home with Dylan outweigh thought of going home they become much more.
