Invincible Rising is touring the globe with their multi-platinum selling album while lead singer Alaia uses her solo projects to experience music beyond rock.
While her friends travel around the world, Lilianna creates worlds of her own in her bestselling novels. Touring is fun, but she's much happier being beside of her talented photographer and art gallery owner husband, Dylan.

They love their Dream-Come-True lives...... Ten years from now.

Right now they're in high school. Morgan is fighting to be cheer captain and juggling boyfriends. Alaia is competing for choir solos and wants a bad boy that won't break her heart. Lilianna wishes that her long time crush Dylan would see her as more than a friend and is bored - searching for a more creative writing outlet than the school's newspaper.
She finds that outlet through writing letters as if they were ten years into the future, encouraging her friends to do the same. Comparing their teen written letters to their adult lives, the girls discover that futures don't always turn out as you plan and your entire world can change in a heartbeat.

Future Letters, filled with friendship, love, confusion and heartbreak, is the story of their lives and dreams told through glimpsing into their private world of note passing, emails, text messages and private chat rooms.

3.5. This book definitely has an interesting premise. Three high school friends write letters to each other about 10 years in the future. Lil becomes a famous author, Morgan becomes a model, and Alaia becomes a rockstar. The letter writing part totally reminds me of something that I would have done with my friends with high school. The three friends find out that you can't always plan out your future with any certainty.

The story was told through emails, chat room chats, and texts, which was very interesting. On one hand, these mediums are how people communicate these days (maybe not so much chat rooms anymore but...). That being said, these mediums are also things done between friends and since the readers aren't actually in the book, it sometimes feels like the reader is on the outside looking in.

Because this book takes place over about 10 years, you do get to know the characters pretty well. I really liked Lil. She is a really cool character that probably learns the lesson of not being able to plan everything most of all out of the three friends.

I'm a little torn on this book. On the one hand, I really liked the characters and really, really liked the sort of lesson in the book. There were a couple things I didn't like:

There wasn't a good sense of time: all of the correspondence doesn't have a good sense of time. I wish that there would have been a more definitive line as to when things were taking place.

This book covers about 10 years but the characters don't change really: 10 years between being a teenager and an adult is a big difference

The technology in the book does not change: Here's the hard thing about including technology in your book. Technology, especially communication technology changes rapidly. It's hard not to have dated technology in a book.

Bottom line: issues aside, this is still a good story with an interesting premise.

I received an arc in exchange for a review....

At first I was totally confused! I didn't realise the ENTIRE book was going to be written thru text, letters and emails. Future letters, present day letters, past letters, etc. I really had to pay attention!
I have never read a book in this format before and am still not sure if I liked it. The format that is.. the story I loved, just not sure about how it was told.
Instead of being told after the fact, "he kissed me last night", I wanted to experience it in the moment, read it as it happened... so I could feel it and imagine it.

That being said, I did very much enjoy the story. The future letters the girls wrote in high school were pretty typical with how teens think their lives will turn out, but as the story progresses, their lives and circumstances take them on a completely different journey. I especially loved Dylan's letters. They were so sweet and loving.

At one point I cried! Although I had a suspicion somewhere in the beginning of how certain things were going to happen with a certain someone.... I was SO not expecting the shocker I got!

So... sweet, funny, cute, sad and different. I recommend giving it a try!

Wow! This book was so good and had such a different and creative feel to it. I loved the text/chat/email conversations throughout the book. Although I was lost a few times, overall I was able to follow the conversations. And there were so many good lines in the book.

“Dylan: Who's Jett?
Morgan: Senior, drummer from Stealth Shrine, sometimes they have lunch time concerts.
Dylan: You mean Gary? When did he start going by Jett?
Alaia: Idk but who wants to be a kick-ass rocker drummer named Gary? Jett suits him better anyway. Much hotter.”

The twist definitely threw me for a loop, but I LOVED the way the book ended. This is definitely a book I'd recommend! Looking forward to reading more from this author.

I enjoyed this book's format. Everything is in the form of letters, texts, pms, etc. At times it was a little hard to see where one ended and the next one began. Also, the letters were often a bit repetitive, since each of the three girls wrote to one girl and would then write a similar letter to the other girl. But, it was fun to read and watch the girls grow up,even if life didn't always turn out to be the way they thought it would. :)

I can't begin to express how much I loved this book. It is so very different from anything I've ever read before. The story is expressed through personal letters, texts, chatrooms, and notes.

I was pulled into a whole new world and I didn't want to leave it!! I knew that even though I was whining about it being so long, in the end, it was too short!

I am recommending this book to everyone that loves to read!!!!

There are no other reviews of this, so i guess I'm the first. Not sure how to feel about that, hopefully I won't make the author want to kill me. So, here goes:

I first started reading this book to past the time before my next book arrived, figuring it to be either really bad where I could easily put it down when my book got here, or a really quick read. I found it to be neither. Future Letters is a uniquely written book done through letters, e-mails, and chat rooms, surrounding a group of friends who in High School hoped their lives would turn one way and then reality smacked them in the face with a bloody towel. I don't want to go into too many details, because I think this is a book that a lot of people should read and any little hint of spoilers would do just that. Spoil it. (My two year old got my Kindle and flipped to the middle of the book and I read the page before realizing what had happened. While this didn't make me stop reading the book, I was very close. By then I was invested in the main character, Lil, and wanted to see how it played out.)

I only have two negative things to say about Future Letters, I'll get to those in a moment. Reading the letters and chat room logs at first was a little weird. There were no descriptions, it's all done in dialog. I have no idea what these people look like. It kinda felt like peeking into someone's diary. After the fifth page or so I was highly invested and engrossed in their teenaged drama. So, if you start this book and it seems a bit unnerving, persevere, it's well worth it.

Lil is a very strong character, through her letters you can feel exactly what she's going through at the moment, even when she's not really saying much. Dylan's character is very much the same, though I feel he is the stronger of the pair. This is where my first negative thought comes in. The other characters fall short next to Lil and Dylan. In fact, they all sound the same. Every other letter, PM, Text, whatever is written in the same voice as theirs but just a little muddled. There is no defection. If it wasn't for the PMs having their names in front of what they were saying, I wouldn't have known who was talking. In a book where there is pretty much only dialog, each character needs a voice of their own and that was missing here. While this is a negative thing, it's also kinda a positive in it's own way. The story is about Lil so much more than it is about anyone else, I fear if the author *had* given more characterization, more life, to the other characters, I would have wanted to follow *their* lives more.

Now that that's out of the way, I have to say the love story aspect of this book was near to the romance of The Time Traveler's Wife in the way I felt about it. *I* felt like I was the one in love, or, better yet, that I was watching a dear friend fall in love and got to be the first one to hear about it. It's been a really long time since a book has made me cry so much, first in happiness, then sadness, then happiness again. Much better romance than Twilight ever hoped to be. Hell, as much as I loved Hunger Games, this was a better romance.

My other negative thought is simply that it ended. I could have gone on reading this until Lil was 60 and still be sad to see it end.

This is the story of three best friends told from the time they are in high school until they are 30. It is unique in that it is told entirely through letters, emails, chat rooms and text messages...which also makes it very awkward. But, more about that in a minute.

Although this story is about all three girls in a way, it is really the story of Lilianna. How she comes to find love and deal with everything life has to throw at her with the help of her friends and family.

I wasn't sure what to think when I first started this book. The format made it a really tough read for me and as a result it felt really long. ( I am a really fast reader so for me to say that is saying something.). Also, the spacing is pretty bad and choppy so it take a while to get used to. Ilstopped and started again twice before finally sticking with it until the end.

I liked all of the characters well enough, just had a hard time connecting with them because of the way it is told. I think this would have been better if there were at least some narrative added in. Also, this book is classified as a NA romance but for me, it was more YA. Because of the format, there is no real passion/heat. There is talk of kissing and few mentions of sex but that is it.

Then, I hit the middle of the book...or what I like to call the unbelievable tragic heartbreak I DID NOT see coming and had no warning would be happening based on the narrative for this book. Let me just say, if I had not been given a copy in exchange for an honest review I would have stopped reading at this point, I was that angry ( and in tears I will add.). I am not going to spoil it but just know before reading this one, it is huge!

So, I did keep reading and it was painful emotionally. I was glad to see Lillianna get her HEA after everything and it ended about how I thought it would.

In the end, this one was just not for me. Once the tragedy hit, there was no coming back for me, and believe me I tried. If you have a strong heart and think you can handle it, I wish you luck.

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

*Received book in exchange for honest review*

The premise of this book dragged me in; that three friends in high school wrote letters to each other from the future about what they thought their lives would be like and how the book followed them until they were 30 and nothing turned out how they thought. While the book was an easy, quick read for me, I found myself skimming a lot of it. The fact that it was told all through either texts, chat rooms, emails or letters made it a little hard to follow what was happening, especially when the group would be in a chat room and two characters would "sneak" off to private message each other. I would have liked this book more if there had been some semblance of a narrative and I got to know the characters more. To be honest, I couldn't read the mushy letters between Lil and Dylan because they just didn't interest me and I knew before the big tragic turn of events in the book (like when they were still in high school) who Lil would be with at the end. I found Morgan to be the most interesting character as she is the one that made all the decisions that had the rest of the group going "what?!?" But a lot of detail wasn't given and that's when I would have liked the narrative. I also would have enjoyed "being" there with the girls at the beginning when they would do their ditch days and drive around with fake id's getting tattooed and drunk at parties and what not. After the tragedy in the middle of the book, I did find it more interesting but that was when the girls were about 21 and hitting adulthood and struggling to find out who they were.

If I could give this particular book more than 5 stars, I would give it like 20! It was so good. Written as letters, texts, instant messages and group chat, Future letters is a unique read and so full of emotions that I have never cried so much over a book in my entire life!

Morgan is a well-known high-fashion model, Alaia is a rock star touring the globe, Lily is a best selling author who is on a nation-wide book tour and is married to the love of her life Dylan. Of course this is all 10 years from now. The friends are still in high school but create a future together by writing Future Letters. Morgan isn't a model just yet, Alaia sings but in Choir and Lily writes for the school paper. She wishes that Dylan would see how much she crushes on him and would talk to her "more than a friend."

As everything seems set according to plan (the letters) when arguments happen and bad decisions are made. Tragedy strikes and hearts are broken; never to be able to love again.Or are they? Friendships are mended and love makes an appearance out of nowhere.

Ms. Willaston did an awesome job creating this emotionally charged novel that took me by surprise. I felt like I was a part of this group of friends who experienced so much over the next 10 years that it was just amazing. I definitely had a few girly-breath moments that I had to laugh at because I NEVER have girly moments.

To all who are into romance, young-adult reads, Future Letters is definitely for you! I look forward to reading more from this talented author hoping to have more girly moments =)

This book made me cry, laugh, smile and just go through so many emotions. While I saw the ending coming early on in the book, I wasn't sure how the author was going to get to it. I really believe that how the author got there is what made me like this book so much.

It is told through letters, text, emails, and chat rooms which does make it a bit hard to follow. Sometimes the characters were in a chat room with everyone but were private messaging others and that was really hard to follow about who knew what and who was talking to whom. I also felt like I was never quite sure of how old they were or how much time had passed from letter to letter. But really that doesn't affect the book to much.

I was worried I would miss out on details if I wasn't directly reading what was going on through the eyes of a character but the letters and chat rooms did a good job of retelling. You learn about things after it has happened so it's easy to throw in a good I didn't see that coming.

My biggest complaint was that I had a hard time really accepting the way the guys talked to the girls. Sometimes they seemed a bit childish and girly themseleves.

I thought the author did a good job with Lil. She seemed to express her emotions just right. It was nice to see someone who didn't feel feel like they had to follow the norm and do as everyone was telling them. She was a strong character and I really enjoyed reading, for once, a strong female character.

All in all though, it was a good story and a new way to read a book.

Future Letters by H. R. Willaston

Rating 4****

This book was provided from the author in exchange for honest literary review.

This book is not what it seems at all. From the beginning, you get insight into the lives of three teenage girls who have been friends basically since diapers. As they begin their high school journey, the focus hones in on Lilianna and her coming of age.
As this story unfolds, twists and turn throw the reader off track. It is far from predictable which keeps the reader engaged totally. It's not just all romance and happy endings; it delves more true to life. All ventures we go through as we enter into adulthood are not pleasant or easy. Coming of age is about learning both through the smiles as well as the tears. From the greatest struggles come the strongest people.
Lil and the girls go thru one twist after another, but remain true to themselves and each other. Even though this story is kinda slow in the first few pages, it is so much better as the pages turn. It is one of those books that sneak up on you and warm your heart when you were done.
I will admit there could be a little better editing done. There are a few misspellings and grammar is awkward in a few places, but overall this is a story that is fresh and real. It is well worth the read. Even though the ages of the girls in this book are young in the beginning I would call this one new adult, situations and language are not really suitable for teens. Happy reading!!

4.5 STARS

If I am being completely honest, when I started this book I thought to myself "I am so not gonna like this", at one point I even thought about putting it down and never opening it again. Lets just say that I am glad I didn't. Future Letters is written in pure dialogue which is Text messages, personal messages, instant messages, emails, and of course letters. I had a really hard time getting into it that way but I did. Once you realize what is going on, who's who, the dynamics of each character you feel more confident in reading it. Mind you because of the writing, you don't know how ANY of these people look, there is not description, so you are left to your imagination. Even though this is about three friends which turns in to six at one point and then 5 at another, the central character is Lilliana and her relationship woes. Don't get me wrong you do learn about Alaia and Morgan just fine but just not as much as Lil. I wont spoil anything but at times I wanted to cry my eyes out, I asked why, it was SO unexpected and turned my world and everyones in the book upside down, One thing I do know is the my intuition is right on when it came to Lil's next lover, something in the back of my mind screamed it was him. This book is moving and heart wrenching and raw and real and deep (run-on much) and just naturally good. I urge future readers to just give it a chance, read past the first three chapters then determine if you can get over the writing style and IN to the story. I know I did.

I received this book for my honest opinion

First off let me say that this was a good book and I actually enjoyed the story line although the whole book was in text or type format. I liked the idea of the three friends writing letters like they were ten years into their future and that is how they saw their lives going. I liked the fact that it did not really work out the way that they wanted it to. The fact that Lil and Dylan finally got together was the best ever but in the end life happen. I loved the way it ended like it was really suppose to be that way and that everyone was happy. The only thing that I didn't like was the fact that it kept jumping from letter to text every time I turned around and wannabe future to present time. Overall I really enjoyed this and I look forward to more work from you

This was a new way of reading a book for me. It was all written in the form of letters or chats or personal messages and texts to each other. I think I only read 2 or 3 books written like this, but they are were just one person writing in her diary or letters to one person from one person. But somehow the writer made this all work. The book cover is also very fitting, considering the fact that the “idea” for the Future Letters, comes from someone young and in school.
So you have these three besties, but also a guy, well more guys, and they are just good friends, even though two of the guys are much older, because they are brother and best friend of brother, but also cousin of the other guy, who is more the age of the girls. Their lives are so intertwined, that they keep in touch and help each other.
When I got used to the way the story was being told, I thought ok, this is more a book I would let my daughter read. And I still would, but it does not only talk about teenagers and their dreams and crushes, it also touches some more serious stuff, like drinking and driving, and being responsible while drinking. It’s a good clean book with solid advice and I love it for all of this. True love, life after something devastating happens, nurturing talents and of course nurturing relationships.

I started this book really confused because like ab idiot, I didn't read the blurb first so for the first pages I was really lost but then after I read the blurb everything clicked into place
I have only ever read one other book like this so I am okay with this style of writing now
But I have to say, this book was amazing, in the first few chapters I kept laughing out loud, it also made me cry, very hard lol I am a cry baby though, but I smiled too.

It's really cool too how we get to know and love the characters even though all we get from them are letters and email

I think my favourite character was Dylan because he is such a gentleman without even trying, and Morgann just made me laugh, she is hilarious

Overall, I really loved this book, it was a very emotional read but a rewarding one :)

At first I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about this book. The format annoyed me so much in the beginning. Then I got use to it and it was just like reading someone's personal emails and texts messages. It still moved pretty slow for me.........until it didn't. Halfway though something happens that speeds it up. Cause now you really want to see what happens and how things are going to play out. Reading this I felt like Lil,Dylan ,Morgan Alaia Tate and Ryan were my friends. They shared laughs. They shared tragedy. The shared Pain. And they Shared Love.

I singed up to read this book for exchange for an honest review and honestly I could not get past the format of this book. It took me awhile to read since it was in this media format. There were parts of this book I enjoyed, but I couldn't throughly enjoy it the way I wanted to. I like being a part of the story when I read books, and in this book I could never be a part of it. The events would happen then in text format, instant message format, or email you would read about what had happened, and most of the time the descriptions were vague. This would have been a great book if it wasn't for the format.
