A Paranormal Story with a Martial Arts Twist

There is a lot going on in book one of this series. There is loads of action and the pure evil aura of the antagonist is almost disturbing. The concept of the story is quite interesting though, I didn't feel really 'hooked' until about halfway through. Once I reached that point, I didn't want to stop reading because I was eager to find out the fate of the world. The only downside of reading this was that I found myself a bit confused or lost on more than one occasion. There seemed to be a lot of details about mundane things where some of the more important parts of the story were left with little detail or explanation. Reading on through the story, I was able to 'catch on' when that happened, but it took away from my enjoyment a bit, which is the only reason that I gave this 4 stars instead of 5. I will be moving on to book two so that I can see what new horrors await Jason. I would recommend this story to anyone who enjoys paranormal and/or martial arts stories. I would also warn you that there is a some pretty graphic violence that may not be your cup of tea. I rather like some shock and gore now and then so this was actually a plus in my opinion.
