Annie's Attic Mysteries #20

The Legend of Fuller's Island

Rate this book
Alice MacFarlane has once again let her adventurous spirit take her into harm's way, and it's up to Annie Dawson to find Alice and pull her out of the dangerous situation.

The mystery begins when Annie finds a book in her grandfather's collection in the attic of Grey Gables -- the home after she inherited it after the death of her grandmother, Betsy Holden -- that includes the story of a mysterious island in South Carolina wrapped up in an ancient curse.

When Alice's friend, Jim Parker -- an author and photographer -- makes a surprise visit to Stony Point, Annie suggests that Fuller's Island might make an interesting chapter in his latest book. Annie, Alice, and Jim all laugh off the book's assertion that the island is haunted by ghost dogs after the curse was placed on it by a witch in the nineteen19th century.

But it ceases to be fun and games when Alice and Jim go missing after visiting the island. Now it's up to Annie, Ian Butler -- Stony Point's mayor -- and the members of the Hook and Needle Club to save Alice when one of her carefree adventures once again goes awry.

Book # 20 of the Annie's Attic Mystery Series has been read. I am glad that Annie and Ian are getting into a deeper relationship. They are going about it slow and with care - Annie is starting to realize that she has "more than friendship feelings" for Ian.

This bulk of the story took place in another town and that town had some really unfriendly folks in it. This story held a hint of ghosts and abandoned buildings. You will also read about the suggestion of some wild animals.

Annie wasn't the main character in this book. This book centered more on Annie's best friend, Alice. It is wonderful what friends will do to help when they truly care for each other.

This is such a good escapist book.
This group of ladies write good books.

This book, by Jan Fields, takes readers away from Maine to a small island off the coast of South Carolina. The story begins close to Halloween, a good time for this story. Annie finds this book in her attic about the family who lived on this island. The man comments about his childhood, and what was hidden, he as not allow to know. A strange man. The time 1925.

Jim Parker, a photographer and a friend of Alice MacFarlane needs material for his new book. Annie gives him the book to read. Just what he needs. He and Alice will drive to South Carolina to visit this abandoned island. So the two leave. Alice, Annie's best friend since childhood will chat with Annie over her laptop with some video. Alice keeps in touch for several days, then nothing. Annie worries. This is not like Alice. Ian disapproves of Jim Parker going into dangerous places. The two court danger too much. Annie's relationship seems to be getting serious.

There is much about the Hook and Needle Club, writing about food, popular topics, also, Boots the Cat.

Still no news about Jim and Alice. Annie worried, upset about her best friend. She plans to go to Fuller's Island. Alone. Ian will not allow this. Mary Beth and Stella plan to go also. Mary Beth's SUV is put into travelling action. The group goes to South Carolina, Fuller Island, where ghosts and devil dogs live. Could this be true? The group doesn't believe in this. Maybe! Maybe not!

The town is small, the four ask questions about the two disappeared friends. People don't seem to know. Or care. The four are made to feel unwelcome. But they do meet Mrs Harlow, the town's historian of the Preacher's Reach, her daughter, Nora, the editor of the town newspaper. Being eager for news, she is willing to help. The Stony Point folks meet some friends.

The area is very humid, swampy, spanish moss hanging from trees. Small grave yards. The land is so different than Maine. So spooky. Where are Alice and Jim?

Mr Charles Bonneau, an older southern gentleman takes interest Stella. She is flattered. Stella has a beau who pays her much attention.

Ian and Annie stop for food at the Golden Dragon and are almost run over by a fast moving car.

Good adventure tale.

This story was good just because it was different. Jim returns and he and Alice go on adventure. The plot line taking place outside of Stony Point makes the books interesting. I am getting alittle weary of the flirting between Annie and Ian. This relationship needs to develop or go away. I have mixed feelings when they go away and the entire needle club isn't involved in the story. A good story all in all.

This story was very different than the others... more exciting, thrilling, and a lot more far fetched. I liked the idea of it starting with a book Annie found of a family history. I also liked how a blurb from the book began each chapter. It was just a little too much like an episode of Scoobie-doo for me.

I love the Annie Mysteries! Bought a few of the series before, and now added to my collection via the used book sale at our local library. Annie and Alice have great adventures, although this one put them in quite a bit of bother!

I absolutely loved this book! I do believe it was the best one of the series so far! I am reading them in order, so I am almost finished. This book had a great story and more mystery than the others. Still pretty predictable, like all of them, but I enjoy the series very much.

Another great adventure for Annie and her friends . Really enjoy these mysteries. And is Ian getting closer to Annie romantically? Guess we'll see in the next book! Fun reads, all of them!

I liked this one a lot. I am wishing that Jan Fields would have written more of the books for this series. I kept wanting to read just one more chapter with this one, until I had read it all.

Actually, this was hard for me to read, as I am terrified if dogs. But the story line was great.

This was a more sinister story because of Alice & Jim's sudden disappearance. The sleuths of Stony Point go to work in trying to discover why & where the two friends have disappeared so mysteriously. I was on edge til the very end.

This is the last book that has thus far been released by AnniesMysteries.com. I have thoroughly enjoyed the series and can't hardly wait for the next book to come out.
