D. D. Warren is an interesting character. In the first two books of this series though, I would have said that Bobby was a more central character than D.D.
I like a police story and I like a story that features a strong woman so this series totally works for me.
I like the growth of the character through these stories and the glimpses we get of her personal life as time marches onward.

I have read all her books. I like the main detictive, all are page turners.

Terrific Thriller
Loved this book. Filled with surprises. Great characters. Great story. Excellent writing. Yes, the author repeats phrases as nauseum; "Two Point Two Children", "Yada Yada", and everyone is always "shaking". And, once again, one is left wondering WHY D. D. Warren is the "name" of this series. She's peripheral, unpleasant without being amusing ("bite me" is about as pithy as she gets), is FAR too horny, and is most usually wrong. She has zero instincts. Never puts two and two together. THAT skill belongs to her considerably more interesting, more talented, more amusing, and MUCH better cop, Bobby. HE should be the focus of these books as, yet AGAIN, the supposed "perp", zeroed in on and hounded by D.D., turns out to be, not only considerably smarter than D.D., more resourceful than D.D., more interesting and brave than D.D., BUT ALSO TOTALLY INNOCENT. D.D.'s wrongly focused-on PERP is, yet again, the heart and soul of the book. Nonetheless, besides that particular literary mystery, these are FINE BOOKS. Complex and entertaining. The real deal. Unique and satisfying. Now, if only the series were named after D.D's colleague, Bobby, they'd be close to perfect. DO read them, anyway. You will be well-rewarded. My advice to the author? DUMP D. D! She is tiresome, manipulative, concerned primarily with her sex life and a lousy cop.

I loved reading these novels in series one after another after another. Each one grabbed me from the start and took me on the best literary roller coaster, so much so that I couldn't wait to get to the next when I finished. As I stated in another post, though ... I do NOT like D. D. Warren. Too many faults and not enough redemptive traits to earn my respect or interest. Lisa Gardner's characters other than Sgt. Warren, however, is what kept me reading novel after novel. Well played, Lisa Gardner; well played.

It was okay but not my cup of tea. I am reading another book by this author that I enjoy more, however, called Love You More.

excellent books read all in two weeks. The third book is the best. I didnt who what when, hell i just kept reading couldn't figure it out. one of the best books i have read

I enjoyed reading these even though I found them to be a little unsatisfying and a lot predictable. The formula of recovering alcoholic, pedophile, and awful father gets real tedious, real fast.

I love this series!
D D Warren is a tough cop with a hard exterior and a soft center. Great book! It’s a must read.
