Miguel León-Portilla was a Mexican anthropologist and historian. He was one of the most reputable and commonly cited authorities on Aztec culture and literature in the pre-Columbian and colonial eras among Mexican academia. Many of his works have been translated to English and are widely read.

Comprehensive initial look at Nahuatl civilization from many different bases. Good starting point for further research for the ambitious.

It is a compact collection of the complete aspects of the nahuatl culture. It will not give you precise and deep information if you are already an expert in prehispanic cultures, but it will certainly give you a good general overview of the Mesoamerican cultures.

It must be in any archeologist/historian's shelf.

Un muy buen libro para acercarse al pensamiento náhuatl en sus diferentes rubros, educación, política, percepción de la mujer, cultura, etc. Un libro que ayuda a dibujar un mejor panorama y entendimiento estas culturas.
