Elle Gray lives in a small town with her 2 cats, and her handsome husky. As a girl, she was obsessed with crime novels and thrillers.
Today, she loves writing and creating thrilling novels with courageous, strong heroes/heroines and dangerous psychopaths. She invites you to join her exciting world of detectives and FBI agents that take down killers and kick butt.
Memories of the Falls by Elle Gray 5/26/2024 Kindle I’m plugging away with this series, comfortable with the simple characters, and even simpler story. I surprised myself continuing to follow book after book. Perhaps I just enjoy picking apart some of the silliness of the haphazard investigations. However, these stories are easy and very quick readings. In this installment Sheriff Song is investigation first one, then quickly many more, high achieving high schoolers, all dying from a staged drug over dose. After several of these, incredibly Song and her team are still wondering if the deaths are random! As the deaths pile up, there is no sense of urgency in asking the obvious individuals the obvious questions. A calamitous even put these killings is motion, but simple ways to identify the happening are not investigated. I’ll poke my way through the rest of this series, probably complaining all the way. I’m enjoying them, in a dark sort of way.
Sheriff Spenser Song, retired, transplanted FBI agent, resolved a rash of Taft HS revenge murders, presenting as overdoses. Following her gut and a blitz attack, she uncovered the two-year old gang rape, bullying, cover-up, and eventual overdose/suicide of sweet, naive Shelby O'Dell, by the now dissolved Drake & DJ Taft elite HS gang. Realizing Shelby's dad as the UnSub, she tried to convince him not to kill DJ, but failed in the double murder/ suicide. Not a HEA as AS of Ed KNewton went unpunished as co-conspirator, but the defunct gang was charged and hopefully jailed. Tsk, tsk!! Great plot and characters, as the novel's theme once again portrayed, money does not guarantee you happiness. An awesome Must-Read!

Memories of the Falls(A Sweetwater Falls Mystery Book 4)
OMG!!!!!!!!! I loved this book. It makes you feel like you are in this small town called Sweetwater and you are living this life. You understand the small idiosyncrasies of a community that has spent their entire lives together and their willingness to hide secrets or pretend to not see them. You also feel that this community would do anything for each other. Just like what happened with this case. A group of people got together and hid something really bad, but 2 years later it came back to kill the people involved. It was a tangled mess and you really didn't figure out what was going on until the end. I can't wait to see what the next case is going to be and how they solve it. Thank you for keeping me up late at night to finish another story. I love every minute of it.
Sheriff Song is called to an overdose death of a HS Athlete and is told by parents and friends that he didn't do drugs. Song finds the bedroom "staged" or a bit too perfect. Drug paraphenalia laid out, nothing hidden away, everything in plain sight. The coroner thinks its an OD but she feels it needs more investigation, especially after a couple more deaths that are eerily similar.
No one thinks her theory has merit but the high schoolers are hiding something, an event from two years ago that split the once close knit group of friends but no one is talking. Next, a former teacher and guidance counselor from the same school sucumb to the same OD.
Spenser is determined to find the truth and comes across the usual bullies, mean girls, athletes and honor students.
It's a story of revenge for what was swept under the rug years ago.
Spencer Song the new sheriff has a serial killer on her hands. killing teens from the same school.
Spencer has been working hard to bring her staff up to standards. They had all shown great improvement in the training classes. But now this was real! Someone was killing the senior classes supposed best. The outstanding athletes and two of their councilors. Four deaths and one hospitalized with no provable reasons. The sheriff office starts digging into the history of the kids to only come across the dead wall of lies. But there are some cracks in the lies and finding the truth leads to an old crime that is dirty and nasty and cruel and involves a large group of kids. To solve it put Spencer in danger again but that seems to be where she likes it.
I have a problem with age of Spenser Song. My cousin wanted to go into the FBI, and they required a college degree and two yrs of post-graduation work experience —preferably in law enforcement or a financial area. To have been a little over 1 yr or more in the town and a year after the shooting, which would make her about 27-28 yrs old at time she moved to the town. College graduation age is usually around 22 yrs old Assuming she followed the path like my cousin was told she needed to follow, she would have been around 24 yrs old when she came to FBI. Where did all the law enforcement experience, she was supposed to have, occur? I love the writer’s writing and ability to develop characters, especially Ryker Also Marley and Trevor’s ages are off—4 yrs of college, 3 yrs med school, 2 yrs internship—-before can get med license—, then 2-4 yrs of specialist training. So, Marley would have to be at least 27 yrs old when to took her position. I got the impression they had more experience. ER MDs usually have specialist training, which would mean if he was in med school with Marley that he was around 30 at least when he died.
Elle Gray's character, Sheriff Spencer Song is the. epitome of a strong, intelligent woman. She exudes character, integrity, a razor sharp mind, and an unwavering commitment to justice. This book was a mystery well written, keeping me on the edge of my seat. Spencer has the dubious honor of following in the footsteps of the previous "good old boy" sheriff who had none of her qualities and captained a barely floating ship, with a staff of untrained, undisciplined deputies. Her dedication to training the remaining staff, after dismissing those who refused to move toward improvement, is showing in the quality of public service they are now exhibiting in their work and appreciation foe Spencer's leadership. Don't miss this great series.
Just like the books before, this mystery does not disappoint. As Spenser continues her life in Sweetwater, she slowly peels back the curtain to expose the criminal underbelly in this small town. There are a lot of buried events that are slowly coming to light with each investigation. With Spencer's steady influence, her little group of officers are growing in their profession and honing the skills necessary to prepare them for any situation. This is a great series that I can definitely recommend to anyone who is looking for great characters as well as a great set of mystery/thriller read. Keep the books coming!
Definitely better than the 3rd book of the series, but could still use some improvement. I do think the author’s writing style got better and I appreciated her bring Ryker and the dogs back to have more of a part in this book (but I’d like to see them more yet in the next book). The mystery of this story had plenty of twists to keep it entertaining. Still wishing we would get some follow up on the unanswered questions from the first book - I get wanting to drag it out but at this point it seems like it’s almost completely forgotten until its randomly mentioned on one page and then gone again.
I read a lot of murder mystery/cop/FBI books. Unfortunately, that means I see flaws easily. Like in this book, there was a murder attempt on a kid and they didn’t assign a duty detail to protect him while he was in the hospital. That would be a priority. Also, I absolutely can’t stand authors (several-not just this one) that have a female character that when thinking, “chewed on her lower lip”. Honestly, if I’ve read that once, I’ve read it a thousand times and can’t stand that description. But overall, decent storyline that I was compelled to finish.
This story really had me thinking the whole way through.
Spenser and her team has their work cut out for them when teenagers are over dosing. As this story unfolds the teens aren't over dosing they are being murdered. It was heartbreaking when I found out who the murderer was and the reason behind the murders. This story kept me on the edge of my seat until the end. Even the sheriff was questioned by the Council after an incident. Wonderful writing Elle. Getting ready to find out what happens in the next story.
The wonderful World Of kindle! You can find a new author and read book after book. There has been no pause since the first book I stumbled across And read. Many mysteries and police novels are ripe with a heaviness and darkness that is anything but enjoyable. These stories are without that darkness even though there are some heavy and unpleasant situations. Maybe it's the dogs continuing appearances that elevate the mood just as they do in the world! Keep it up Elle Gray!! Hip Hip Hooray!!
Sheriff Spencer Song reminds me of a dog with a bone. Once she sinks her teeth into something she doesn't let go. Not even when she receives a threatening phone call or is attached while she's on her run. But she finally finds out what happened 20 years ago and is determined to make sure all involved are prosecuted. All that had any part in Shelby death. Great job. Thank you.
This whole series is really good so far. It keeps you very involved and all the books have been hard to put down. One very minor thing that drives me absolutely crazy though—not sure why every single character we meet we are told his/her height. Seriously I’ve never in my life read an author so obsessed with heights of the characters. It’s beyond annoying to me. Other than that the series is captivating and great!
I am beginning to have a strong relationship with Sheriff Song.
I love this series. Spencer is just the right fit for the town of Sweetwater Falls. I also want to know the truth about what happened to her husband and what is next in her relationship with Ryker. Overall.this series is the perfect blend of unusual small town characters, possible love interest, and crime drama that makes it fantastic summer reading.
While I enjoy the way Elle develops the characters and story line, I have to shake my head at how many characters have goatees. I am waiting for a burly, robust, beer bellied, tatooed, biker type with what's left of his long gray hair pulled bake into a pony tail and his long gray beard with a braid down the middle covering a pudgy pock marked face character. Just saying. I really do enjoy the story though.
Again, A great read. Couldn't let it go. The city is evolving still solving crimes the previous incompetent sheriff ignored. As Spenser evolves her department and brings competent additions to the city police force it will continue to be a force to excell!
Every person the author describes has green or blue eyes. Unless there is inbreeding in this town in the book, this is improbable and is starting to be annoying. Does the author have green eyes? I don't understand this AT ALL. Of all the descriptive words you could use, eye color doesn't need to be one of them.
The story was interesting and it made me think back to when I was in school and some of the dumb things kids did. It's to bad that the kids didn't tell what some of their friends did. All the people who were involved in keeping the secret was interesting. Glad the story ended the way it did.
I love the furry K-9's it makes the characters more relatable. The story line is a topic that far to often happens in the society we live in. This book had me reading well into the night, its gripping, shocking and heartbreaking. I don't want to give anything away so you'll have to get your copy. As always happy reading
Book #4 of the Sweetwater Falls Mysteries- Why are students and teachers dying of a drug overdose? That is what Sheriff Spenser Song is trying to find out. Everyone who knew these people swear they did not do drugs. Drug paraphenalia is always staged the same at each scene. The story unfolds to a serial killer murdering these innocent people. But why? and Who? Really enjoyed this book.
I loved, loved this book. Just like her previous three books it was very suspenseful. Kept me guessing who could have committed the crimes. Did not want to put it down. Can't wait to read her next book. I am going to start right now. If you like suspence, then thus book us for you.
I liked this next installment in the Spenser Song series the best so far. When solving the recent murder (s) in Sweetwater, she uncovers past actions that led to this new crime. I felt this book was more realistic and delved into the Why crimes are committed and Why people act in ways not previously possible. Good story. Well written
I enjoyed this book very much. Someone is killing high school students and making it look like drug over dose. Why would someone target kids? Whay happened two years ago to make friends disband. Someone is taking justice in his own hands, but why?. Sheriff Moon has got her job cut out for her this time.
This is a great series. Well written and keeps you turning the pages long into the night. Love the characters and their interactions. Both positive and negative encounters. The people seem as if they could be walking g on the streets of any town in the country. Loved it.
This fourth of sixteen (so far) additions to the Sweetwater Falls mystery series was incredible. Full of suspense, surprises and never ending twists, it reels you in and refuses to let you go until the story ends. I can’t wait to continue reading this series, and suspect that you will feel the same if you give it a try.
This is a great book. I loved it .I could not put this book down. This book keeps you in suspense until the very end. Can' wait until the next book comes out. I highly recommend this book and series
Old crimes may never die if the doers aren’t brought justice. Spenser and her group have to find the old crime to solve the new murders. And no one is talking. Who else will end up dead. He tries for Spenser but is thwarted once. Loved this one!
