In the third installment of the Bailey Weggins series, Bailey becomes a target after women who were all bridesmaids in the same wedding earlier in the year begin dying under mysterious circumstances. In Kate White’s Til Death Do Us Part, we get a nice mix of Bailey’s personal life and the mystery, though there is less focus on her career with Gloss magazine than we’ve seen in previous books. I found this mystery engaging and filled with fascinating tidbits as Bailey tracks down suspects and experts to weigh in on some very mysterious deaths. As sassy as ever, I loved seeing the side of Bailey that is discovering herself and what she wants out of life.

I’m on a re-read of this series and I have to say I’m loving it just as much this time as the first time I read it! In Til Death Do Us Part, we get to see a bit more of Bailey’s personal life and connections. The story centers around her former college roommate Peyton, who got married over the previous summer. Peyton has always been a bit high strung, but Bailey describes her as someone who just as you are ready to write off, surprises you by being awesome.
Peyton also happens to be the ultimate bridezilla, and Bailey doesn’t actually have the most warm and fuzzy feelings about the wedding. But when Ashley (who is perhaps even worse than Peyton in her snobbish ways) reaches out about the deaths of two bridesmaids from the wedding, Bailey promises to help look into it. I found Ashley nearly intolerable, while Peyton has quite a bit of depth as a character.
The deaths of the bridesmaids are fascinating, because they all could easily be written off as accidents, but you can’t help but wonder if something is going on when Ashley becomes the third victim in a short span of time. One dies because a CD player falls into the bathtub (remember CD players?? I grew up in the iPod generation but I do remember old CD players around the house when I was younger!). Another dies because of a lethal combination of MAOI inhibitors and gourmet foods. This death actually led to one of my most popular tweets of all time, where I pondered about the cruelty of a certain type of anti-depressant where the individual can’t eat, among other things, aged cheeses.
As Bailey begins to investigate, several things happen. First, we see the reality of her relationship with Jack unfolding. I won’t spoil where this leads, but this was such a raw and refreshing glimpse of Bailey, outside of work and mystery-solving. Bailey felt very human in this book. Second, we see very little of Bailey’s work at Gloss magazine. Though I missed that aspect, it felt like we got to learn more about other parts of Bailey’s life. Interestingly, Til Death Do Us Part was published in 2005, in the middle stretch of White’s career as the editor-in-chief of Cosmopolitan magazine. I always saw more of Kate in Bailey’s character though than I did head honcho of Gloss, Cat.
The mystery itself was fun to read, and I actually had forgotten the who-dun-it! In fact, when the reveal happened I was shocked all over again, because I was convinced the culprit was someone else!

Have I mentioned how much I love Kate White? 'Til Death Do Us Part is the third book in the Bailey Weggins mystery series and is just what I would expect from White! Twists and turns abound, and this might be the most action-packed book so far.
In 'Til Death Do Us Part someone appears to be killing off the bridesmaid's in a wedding that Bailey was in and since she's afraid she is going to be next; she launches her own investigation as she loves to do. For some reason the stakes just seemed a lot higher in this book, and there were more twists than the previous two novels. I can definitely tell that White is really starting to pick up steam with this series and it makes me excited to continue with the rest of them.
Once again I thought I had it all figured out and just when I thought I was right I found out I wasn't! I don't know if I am really just that bad at guessing, or if White is just that good at fooling the reader, although I would like to think it is the latter. 'Til Death Do Us Part was another quick read, and also had a tiny bit of steam as the other books in this series have had. I really love Bailey's character and at this point I really hope the series never ends!
Final Thought: I said it before and I will say it again, if you are a fan of fun mysteries full of wit with a badass female lead then you NEED to check this series out. I am beginning to think they are fine as standalones, but I am personally glad I started with the first book since they are still building off each other, especially when it comes to Bailey's relationships. Another win for this series, and I can't wait to read more about one of my favorite female characters. Who knows what she will get herself into next!

I just recently discovered this series of 'Bailey Weggins' mysteries, this book being number three. I absolutely LOVED this series. It is a light mystery read and this suited me just fine as I grew a little tired of some of the over the top, extremely graphic murder mysteries I had been reading. One critic describes this series as "Nancy Drew meets Sex and The City" and I fully agree. This series has a refreshing, contemporary feel with a murder mystery thrown in. I enjoyed Bailey's sharp, sarcastic wit, not often seen with most protagonists. I also appreciated the way the bit of 'romance' in the series was written. Rather than that soppy, ridiculous--we just met on page 10 and on page 50, you profess your undying love---this series deals with romance in a far more mature and realistic way. Hence, the Sex and The City comparison. Growing up, I devoured the Nancy Drew series, and maybe that is another reason I am so crazy for this series.It was like going home again, a blast from the past, a huge part of my mid-childhood. I just finished the last book in this series--Lethally Blonde--and I feel as if I have just finished a GREAT meal, and now been told there is no dessert. I highly recommend this series to anyone who is in the mood for a lighter mystery, and anyone who grew up reading and loving Nancy Drew, a little cheesy dialogue and all.

In the end, there were maybe one too many solutions to everything that was happening to Bailey in this book. I was engaged the whole time though, and I immediately want to pick up the next in the series.

Till Death Do Us Part, the third Bailey Weggins book by Kate White, was a pleasant surprise. I did not care for book two in this mystery series in which Bailey Weggins is a New York crime journalist for a cutting edge women’s magazine. But book three caught my attention and held it throughout.
I will admit that these earlier stories are a bit dated and at times they are somewhat unpolished, even a tad crude. It’s not necessarily a sophisticated crime fiction series, but this one was entertaining nonetheless, and I really like Bailey.
The story had a rather surprising resolution and a cute and optimistic ending that I appreciated. All-in-all it was a fun read.

‘Til Death Do Us Part was my first Bailey Weggins Mystery and, while it did not turn me into a fan, still had much to recommend it. The writing was light and humorous, the action was steady, and there is one tremendous red herring thrown in.
Last year, Bailey had been a bridesmaid at Ashley’s society wedding. There were five other attendants and now three of them are dead. Will Bailey be next? The police are convinced it is all a coincidence; Bailey, a true crime writer by profession, cannot be so sure so decides to investigate.
Kate White manages to keep the mystery front and centre throughout the story with just enough of Bailey’s personal life coming through to keep her sympathetic. I do appreciate that as sometimes this genre (the light/cozy mystery) does bog down in the personal details and the murder inquiry has to be fitted in around the edges. Not so here but that is not to say there weren’t some plot problems. How does the baddie know when Bailey will be visiting the building of one of the deceased? How can he be sure that someone with a key will let her into the apartment and leave here there alone? How could he know that there would be no lights? and, finally, how was he expecting to find Bailey in the dark when he didn’t have a light either? Things really fizzled for me, though, when the action reached the suspect building (a different building from the last example.) This is not a plot giveaway as it is pretty standard for this type of novel to have the female lead rush into a suspect building by herself instead of waiting for back-up. The only variation here was that she dismissed the back-up before going in. Prior to this, she had been as cautious as I would be if I thought my life were in danger. I found this a break in character and could not get into the novel again after that.

This took me too long to read considering how short the book is. I'm not sure that's the book's fault, but I kept losing the thread or missing details. The problem is that White puts a lot of "stuff" in. Like not only are we getting details that matter to the mystery itself, but those details are listed along with unimportant information. Like we'll hear about her making some crucial phone calls at the same time she mentions that she remembered to bring her cotton pajamas to her overnight stay, or she notes that she opened the window right before looking through photographs that might hold a clue. I think sometimes White gets a little carried away with all the small stuff.
But anyway, the mystery is why are Peyton Cross' bridesmaids dying? Is it just a very weird coincidence? Or is someone killing them off to make them all look like accidents? Bailey was a bridesmaid- could she be next?

Well, I loved it! I forgot how fun this series was to read and so I will hurry to the library to get the next book.... Fast-paced, charming and delightful with just a hint of sex and intrigue. Living in the city never sounded so much fun unless you follow in Bailey Weggins footsteps as she casually solves crimes of personal nature while writing a crime column for the magazine Gloss. It does help that the author was the Editor in Chief of Cosmo for a quite a few years. Smart read and Kate White does her best to put you on the scene with the business world of fashion and other such things like cooking and general office in's and out's. Imagine someone is killing off bridesmaids at a wedding nine months... well two are gone and the third one is suspicious...., of course, she brings in the fourth... Bailey Weggins. Six bridesmaids and now three are dead, Bailey is running around gathering up clues and pissing off people... enough to get killed? Greed, money, revenge, passion.... it's all there!

I was enthusiastic to find a new mystery novelist to read.
This novel is pretty good. I was still trying to figure out who was commiting the murders right up until the end of the novel.
My MAJOR PROBLEM with Kate White's works is that some of the plot devices that are used by Bailey Weggins are almost identical to Sue Grafton's character, Kinsey Milhone, which had been around long before Ms. White. As I read more of her books I was troubled by some serious similarities between Grafton and White's work. It turned me off.
On it's own, if you are not a fan of Grafton's work you won't notice the obvious similarities and if you don't, this book and the other Bailey Wegginss/ Kate White novels will probably be enjoyable for you.

I love listening to audio books in the car. I picked this book because it was suggested on the homepage for Scribd. This is a very average murder mystery. I enjoyed the narrator but the content of the book was comical and the scenarios ridiculous. I mean....doesn't everyone, who suspects their friend is a murderer, decide to take a walk in the woods with them?

Not impressed with this book at all. There was no suspense. I could've cared less who the murderer was. All I have to say about it is BLAH!

Another winner from Kate White that kept me guessing until the very end! This is the third book in her Bailey Weggins murder mystery series and I eagerly anticipate reading the next one!

"J'ai aimé retrouver Bailey, la voir évoluer un peu plus dans sa vie personnelle, même si je trouve que l'on ne nous donne toujours que bien peu d'éléments à chaque nouveau tome. L'enquête se déroule ici dans l'univers de la cuisine et des banlieues chics de New-York, un autre point positif (si ce n'est lorsque l'une des chefs dit ajouter un oeuf dans la tapenade, ces américains alors, ils ne respectent vraiment rien!). Ça se lit toujours facilement, sans prise de tête, c'est à la fois léger tout en présentant une enquête qui tient la route et j'ai trouvé l'histoire assez originale. L'enquête se déroule ici dans l'univers de la cuisine et des banlieues chics de New-York, un autre point positif (si ce n'est lorsque l'une des chefs dit ajouter un oeuf dans la tapenade, ces américains alors, ils ne respectent vraiment rien!). Ça se lit toujours facilement, sans prise de tête, c'est à la fois léger tout en présentant une enquête qui tient la route et j'ai trouvé l'histoire assez originale. It is the perfect blend of murder, glamour, and social drama and keeps you guessing until the end. Bailey is a great character — witty, relatable, and willing to put herself in danger for the truth, but still flawed in ways that make her feel real. Even with a lot of characters, the story never felt confusing, and it kept me hooked from the first page to the big reveal.
Some of the other characters lean into stereotypes (the glamorous but shallow bride, the insecure bridesmaid, the gossipy socialite), but honestly, it makes the soap-opera meets thriller feel even more realistic. I tore through this quickly, and while it isn’t the grittiest mystery out there, it’s addictive and entertaining. If you like a good whodunnit, this is for you!

This third book in the Bailey Wiggins series is just as good as the previous two. It’s a light, not-so-graphic mystery with a funny, likable heroine who manages to navigate all of the twists and turns in the scenario to solve the crime before the police - once again. How the girl meets her writing deadlines and supports her lifestyle in NYC is questionable, since she always traveling all over to solve the crime. But we really don’t need to know.
Kate White has an easy-to-read writing style which is just perfect for these much-better-than-cozy mysteries. You can speed through her novels with these likable characters, but never figure out the twist at the end (at least I didn’t).
It’s sometimes fun to just pick up a novel like this, relax and enjoy the quick ride. Not the great American crime novels, but they’re just an entertaining, fun read.

Bailley worries about her safety as bridesmaids end up dead, Bailley was a bridesmaid too. when her friend Peyton got married. Lifestyles of the rich and famous comes into play as Bailley tries to find who is killing the bridesmaids. Could it be to crush Peyton's new business? A picture taken at the reception, a heated argument at the rehearsal, many people who have been chastised by Peyton are all leads but where are they leading? Who would be upset enough to kill three women? The police think they're just random accidents not murders so they're no help to Bailley. Even though Bailley's attacked, run off the road and sent messages they don't believe she's in danger. Bailley's on her own.

Am I the only one who finds the story repetitive and contrived?
I understand that the mystery is presented as a preliminary collection of sad coincidence, but I am uninterested in any of the characters, they all seem so one dimensional and shallow, and at this point of the book I don't care who did it.
It feels very formulaic, and the dialogue feels like it is a constant reminder for the reader that there is a murder mystery. No other side plot lines that reveal any depth to want me to care about the protagonist or any of the other characters.
The writing is good, very good description and articulation. Lacking in my wanting to get to the end.

I have not listened to or read the first two books in this series. I listened to the abridged version of this book. Normally I wouldn't do that but in my previous experience the abridging of mysteries actually works for me.
Bailey Weggins was in this book a little curious and she didn't let things go. I found the story engaging and I enjoyed wonder which character did it. I don't know that this will get me to listen to or read more books similar to this but I will certainly come back to this author if I'm looking for a light audiobook.

I chose this book because I literally could not see the he Scribd selection of audiobooks and just hit play. This mystery series is fluffy but somehow intriguing. The reader of the audio did a great job. I like that it’s a crime book but that the most violent act I can remember being described was a man pushing a woman down (she was fine). I think the word blood was mentioned once. I appreciate the lack of violence and how she keeps it light but engaging while including bits about the Manhattan world of high fashion, food, decor and other things I know absolutely nothing about.

This is a fun story with many possible outcomes. Three bridesmaids die in accidents within a year of the wedding at which they participated and met. Were they accidents? Our protagonist, a NYC true crime journalist goes to uber-wealthy Greenwich to investigate, and she was one of the bridesmaids. I enjoyed the lampooning of Bridezilla and the rich folks in Greenwich. A double surprise at the end, along with a scary part is believable. There's good character analysis and development, though it's l-o-n-g. I enjoyed the story.

I'm giving this book 3.5 stars. I like the mystery and the characters, but Bailey can be a bit grating. This is my second forray into this series and while I really enjoy it going in, I keep finding the endings a bit rushed and somewhat implausible. I'm just not convinced that the person who turns out to be the killer is the right fit. Either way, I'll be returning to this series because it is honestly a good time and well written, and well paced.

I read this book it's really good. I love this book even though it's the third book in the series. And I've been reading out of order but still it's a good book. I love the author and her books. This book is really good I enjoy it a lot. It's really good. I love the characters, dialogue, storyline, plot and descriptions in the plot. I give this book five stars and I really enjoy this book a lot and reccommed it to anyone to read it.

Good beach read - breezy and interesting with twists you can’t foresee (although some are mildly outlandish) and descriptions of food that make you want to get in the kitchen ASAP. I wouldn’t go out of my way to read another book in the series but wouldn’t mind if it’s all I had to read on the beach. I wish you could give 1/2 stars - this would probably be a 3.5 for me (slightly better than average, primarily due to the “Devil Wears Prada” type of descriptions)

I like this series although I am reading it all out of order. This is an early one, and I had to check a couple of times to see when it was written, she was using a Palm pilot - I forgot those existed. I was also a little surprised that Bailey had never heard the term "cherchez la femme" doesn't she read books? Anyway, it was good, and I thought I knew who the bad guy was, and I was kind of right, but I didn't see the twist coming too early, so that's always a plus.

I always enjoy this author. It may not always be on the edge of your seat, and sometimes the main character does really dumb things, but it’s always a fun read with a nice twist and good ending. I don’t like books with ambiguous endings, although I know that’s supposed to be great from a literary perspective. So I like the fact that she always ends the story on a good note. It makes me feel happy.
