"The Fatigue and Fibromyalgia Solution" was written as a layman's version of "From Fatigued to Fantastic" which was intended for professionals of the medical field. As such, it is much more accessible to people in the throes of battle with pain and fatigue. This publication may also indicate that Dr. Teitelbaum is adjusting his vision from training/ educating those in the medical field to seeking to engage with patients directly.

Teitlbaum's theory that the hypothalmus becomes disregulated and shuts down like a circuit breaker is effective in explaining the varied symptoms of fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndromes, however, he never delves into the discussion of whether this general ill-health may be a RESULT of fibromyalgia/ chronic fatigue, as opposed to a primary cause.

His SHINE protocol (S*leep, H*ormones, I*nfection, N*utrition, E*xercise) seeks to take a whole body approach to restoring health. As such, his recommendations can be helpful for anyone suffering an "energy crises", even if it is not as severe. We do not know what causes these ailments and they affect many systems of the body, making treatment complicated and charges of malingering common. Teitelbaum's work is one of the best organized I have encountered. His process is easy to grasp, and the checklists provided helpful in matching the myriad of options for treatment with the troublesome symptoms of a patient. As such, his willingness to trust the patient enough to be guided by them and continue to 'treat people until they feel better' is incredibly refreshing.

His research lends credibility to his approach, but is not substantial enough to declare his instructions infallible (such research would admittedly cost a tremendous amount of money).

Teitlbaum's integrity in separating his own financial profit from his recommendations of supplements is admirable. This refusal to profit from his supplement sales is also effective in releasing him from charges of demagoguery that plague the treatment of these diseases which have been gold mines for charlatans.

Perhaps the best thing about this book is Teitelbaum himself. He manages to affirm the suffering while offering hope and optimism to a pretty cynical group of people. He offers a road map of sound ideas to explore and encouragement that the illness CAN be overcome.

This book is an excellent resource for people who want to systematically explore possible supports in managing these elusive illnesses. I highly recommend it, particularly for those who are feeling discouraged and out of options.

this book is a simple summary of from fatigued to fantastic, dr teitelbaum's longer and more complete book on fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue. if you have that book and are able to understand and review it thoroughly, you don't need this one as it will feel basic. if most books on fibro seem overwhelming to you, this may be a good place to start. i should have realized this was a simplified version of from fatigued to fantastic before buying, because it repeats information and doesn't seem to contain anything new.

that being said, finding this book at a used book store and reviewing it at home made me realize that dr. teitelbaum's theories on fibromyalgia don't really mesh with the more current theories of it being a problem with the central nervous system's sensitization to pain. i'm not sure of the way he classifies chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia as one problem, and as a result i'm questioning his treatment protocols. i do think a lot of the things he suggests are great ideas for making anyone who feels ill from anything feel healthier. and i think the problem he lists may be problems many people suffer from in our society (yeast infections, adrenal fatigue, etc). but i'm not sure his ideas are helpful to chronic pain sufferers specifically, or patients with fibromyalgia specifically. people with fibromyalgia have a heightened sensitivity to pain and nonpainful stimuli, which would seem to be a result of a different cause and require a different solution than the other things teitalbaum offers treatment for (sugar addiction, chronic fatigue) with the same solutions (killing off parasites, adrenal fatigue, killing off yeast, balancing thyroid).

I have heard great things about Dr. Teitelbaum's SHINE program in my CFS and Fibromyalgia support groups, so I bought his book to try and learn more about his methods.

Dr. Teitelbaum also suffers from CFS and Fibromyalgia. His book is based on the methods he used to get his health back and the methods he now uses to treat his patients. Dr. Teitelbaum covers the traditional courses of treatment, along with the different kinds of medications that are used to treat these two conditions today, plus he includes a massive list of supplements and vitamins that he has found to be helpful to his patients. He also includes checklists that you can use to check off symptoms and treatments.

His program makes a lot of sense to me. I have already started to address some of his suggestions. The best one, by far, has been his suggestion to take Ribose-D. I have a lot more energy now than I did when I started taking it two months ago. Overall, I really enjoyed his book.

This book makes a lot of sense. I appreciate the doctors plain speech although sometimes it seemed out of character with his writing style making some sections seem forced and unsavory.

I plan on getting all the vitamins he recommends and working on more exercise which is hard because I suffer from daily dizziness and head pain.

The nutrients I plan to look into:

Fibromyalgia:

Energy Revitalization System
Or Daily Energy Infusion
D-Ribose
Vectomega (high potency fish oil)

Neuropathy:
Lipoic Acid (300 mgs)
Acetyl-L-carnitine (2000 mgs)

Head pain:
B2 (riboflavin) (100 mgs)
B12 (500 micrograms)
Magnesium (200 mgs)
(Or the Energy Revialtizatiin powder that includes these)

Anxiety:
Calming Balance from Health Freedom Nutrition (1 daily)

Immune Stimulant:
Thymic Protein (Proboost)
Zinc (20 mgs)

Pain:
End Pain (Enzymatic Therapy)
Curamin (EuroPharma)

I will continue to take CoQ10 (200 mgs)
Curcurmin Complex (500 mgs)
Daily Multivitamin

For anyone suffering from general fatigue, or diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, this short book by Teitelbaum is indispensable--and should be your first step in the process of figuring out how to treat your condition. Teitelbaum is an M.D. who has gone fairly deep into researching the causes and possible treatment of both CFS and Fibromyalgia. He offers up holistic treatment that includes both natural and prescription remedies. Happily, there are no miracle cures offered up, but a full complement of strategies that include: getting enough sleep, paying attention to hormonal issues, addressing lingering infections, looking at nutrition, and getting exercise. (Teitelbaum's "SHINE" protocol). Teitelbaum claims that most people suffering from CFS or Fibromylagia will see significant improvements in how they feel after addressing these items.

This was one of the few eBooks in my library available on the subject, so I checked it out. It seems to be a dumbed-down version of an earlier book that might be a better option for those who like their health books to contain more scientific explanations.

I found the book to be slightly outdated, especially regarding digestive issues, and information on hormone replacement. It was also highly specific on medical procedures and pharmaceuticals and labs, etc., rendering the information less useful to those outside the U.S.

However, if you are able to ignore the specificity and outdated material, there are some tidbits of practical information to be found in this book regarding therapies and approaches to try for dealing with fatigue.

I liked the information in this book and respected that not only did he highly recommend doing things naturally, but also let you know the better medical options if you went that route. This is a good book to have on your shelf to reference when needed. As with most self-help books, it can get to wordy and over explain the science behind what they are talking about. However, the information was easy to follow. If you suffer from fibromyalgia and/or chronic fatigue, this book is a good one to check out.

this book is pretty similar to his from fatigued to fantastic but is an updated version. I think I would read this one not from fatigued to fantastic since this is the updated version if I were to tell you to read one and not the other. Having read his first book I couldn't get into this one As much that is why I gave it a three. the amount I read was a little interesting though.

read this when i was diagnosed with in early 2018 with fibro. this was the first book i read to get a better understanding but felt like he's made quite a bit of profit off of people like me to help address fibromyalgia. there are other options out there, particularly not based on annoying western medicine limitations.

Great book

This book is helpful to understand what I have been dealing with with CFS. It has helped to understand what I have done right over the years. I hope it will give me new solutions to take me to the next level.

Little new information, a lot of old info most CFS sufferers already know, and can be found on line. He is trying to sell his own line of products. I’m glad I got this from the library and didn’t waste money.

Цікава книга про втому. Ніби здається проста річ, але з часом це може стати вашою звичкою. В книзі покроково описується алгоритм та підходи як одужати, звісно варто це все робити під наглядом лікаря.

(I'd really give this book 3.5 stars, but since I can't I rounded up to 4)

As someone who has been diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome, I got this book to try to help alleviate some of the symptoms.

It was an interesting book and it provided many ideas to help - some of which I will run by my doctors to see if I can use them.

However, to fully use this book, you need a doctor who agrees with Teitelbaum and will prescribe all the rx's and other not-over-the-counter things he recommends.

And yes, I get it, we *need* help from doctors, but I was hoping for more information like vitamins, supplements, and diet changes that I can make. My doctors have already done things for me, so I needed a book that could be free-standing without the doctors!

Aside from that, I enjoyed the book and I feel like there were definitely some helpful suggestions in there that I'd like to add to my daily routine!

There were some great points in there though - symptoms I've had that we haven't been able to pinpoint. It was nice to read them in this book and thought "Oh! That's why that happens." It feels good to get more insight and more help with things.

I appreciated that there was an attempted balance of "these prescriptions have worked best in my experience," with "take all these supplements!" but I'm still wary of doctors who seem to want to depend wholly on vitamins. Nevertheless, I have been incorporating a few of the things he recommended to try them out.
