I loved each page of this book and felt happy to have picked this one to read. Though I was really busy one weekend, I still gave my eight hours to this beautiful book. That should count something in its favor, shouldn’t it? The only negative I could find in this book was a few grammatical errors and typos.[read: very, very few]
Falling for Rain is the story of two childhood friends Raymond Storm and Emily Alexander; they choose to address each other as Rain and Em. Isn’t Rain Storm a name absolutely adorable? I loved it from the very start but as the novel progressed, I didn’t even realize that I had already fallen in love with this man – for his name, yes, but more so, for his character.
Rain Storm is your gorgeous, tall man aged almost 33 at the start of the novel, with a fantastic build, blonde hair, silky voice and deep blue eyes. His love for Emily will make any girl think again about her Prince Charming. His emotions – love, humor, regret, desire, anger – seem to be very romantic and masculine at the same time.
Emily is the tall, beautiful, successful architect aged 28 at the beginning of the novel; she has dark hair and dark eyes, all which suit her personality, whether she’s the joyous Em or the business-like, sarcastic Emily Alexander. She loves Rain, no doubt, but wants to prove to him that she’s always been superior to him and was right to leave the farm after her mother’s death in an accident. The accident plays an important part in the novel.
She comes from her busy world of Toronto to the farm, which once was her life until that fateful accident took place. Her brief visit is to inform Rain that she’ll sell the farm and will bury her past, in short, get rid of him and that place forever. Little did she know that the three days would change her life. Rain’s charm pulls her towards him but she pushes his attraction away, harder.
I won’t give any more of the amazing novel away. There are many twists and turns that will keep you guessing. You’ll find yourself pleading Emily to let bygones be bygones and start a new chapter of her life. You’ll find yourself pleading Rain to try harder and no matter what, never let Em go. You’ll find yourself: scowling at Jonathon, cheering Lee, respecting Martin Wright and liking Jessica. You’ll find yourself smiling, blushing and smiling again; a few pages that might moisten your eyes… a few that will broaden your smile. Above all, you’ll want to fall in love again.
This book has been written beautifully in 3rd person POV. You’ll love every character in this novel; that’s one of the aspects of Falling for Rain that I truly liked. Besides Rain and Emily, you’ll even love the characters that show up just for a chapter or even so short a part as two pages - Jennifer, Lee, Martin Wright and even the ancestor Emily.
There is just one character you’ll love to hate – it’s Jonathon! I don’t exactly remember which cartoon character it was, that always wore suit, had wicked features and slicked his hair behind in a ponytail, but I pictured Jonathon as that.
The use of the words ‘rain’ and ‘storm’ as not just Rain Storm’s name, but in different contexts was intelligent.
It’s a book that’s hard to keep down once you’ve started it. Congrats to co-authors Gina Buonaguro and Janice Kirk. I look forward to reading their other books.
This is a well written story about a bitter young woman named Emily, angry that her mother passed away too early, who runs away from farming life looking for career success and more than farm life can offer. It is also about the man,Rain, who loves her and hopes for her return long past the point when there should be hope. Most of the elements of this story are formulaic, but the author has blended in an historical aspect of Emily's ancestors which add a layer of creativity and additional depth to the story.
Although Rain and Emily are well developed characters, Rain seems too good to be true and Emily is just unlikable throughout most of the book due to her bitterness. With her bitterness that borders on being mean and her inability to actually see what is going on until the very end, it is a difficult book to plow through. It is one of those books that you want to like more than you do. You want to like it for the love story element and because it is well written, but the reality is Emily isn't likable and the book is slow moving. I like a faster pace story, but if you don't mind slow moving stories than you may appreciate this story more than I did.
This is a story more about love and misunderstandings and the sex is very low key and minimal. If you are like me, I hate loose ends in stories and the writer did wrap up the story nicely in the epilogue.
I got Falling for Rain in the Amazon Free Kindle books. I enjoyed reading the story, however, after I read it I realized I really did not like Emily. Emily's mother died in an accident but she never seemed to realize that it not only affected her but her father, who I think she was very cruel to. All works out in the end, but I guess I could not understand why she was so angry with her father. It appeared she did not hate the farm until after the accident. However, the story flowed well and there were some tense moments, but I still think Emily got off easy.
quick read. free kindle book at Amazon. storyline was decent although I would have liked to kick the main character Emily and her attitude. would recommend.
To be honest I only chose this book to read for the letter "F" for the alphabet challenge I am working on. Thought I'd try this challenge as a way to go through my tbr books and mix up genres as I tend to choose mostly thrillers or mysteries to read, I do like a good romance now and then too. Unfortunately this wasn't it...it was an ok romance book. First there were quite a few errors, spelling and tense. For some reason this bothers me. Wasn't it edited for this kind of stuff? I liked Rains character but I wasn't too keen on Emily's character. She kept switching from tough girl to soft/romantic girl. She kept changing her mind about what she thought of Rain. I found that annoying. The beginning of the book grabbed me, the middle frustrated me, the end was ok, a bit predictable though.
Oh what a beautifully written book. Falling for Rain was just wonderful to read. The writing, the story, everything just captivated me from the start. With a different author this story could have been really tedious. With a different author I would have hated Emily and her stupid rational and reasons for doing things. Instead I loved it, I loved seeing Emily and Rain work through Emily's issues. I loved this beautiful story.
It has been ten years since Emily has been back to her family's farm. Her mom died in an accident on the farm and since then she has hated everything to do with it. She was in love with Rain back then, back before the accident, but since then she doesn't want to be tied down to a stupid farmhand. If only her mother wouldn't have given up her dancing to be with a farmer she would still be alive! These are Emily's thoughts and she is really quite ridiculous in her misplaced hatred for everything having to do with the farm. As I said above, another author would have made Emily seem too ridiculous with her hatred and anger, but in this story I got it. I understood her. I was okay with Emily.
Rain has lived on the farm since he was little. He was like a son to Emily's father and has been taking care of the place since he died. He doesn't understand how Emily could not ever come back to see her dad after she left after her mom's accident. He doesn't understand how she could cut him out of her life like that. He understands why she hates him as he has a lot of guilt over her mom's death, but her father? When she shows up again telling Rain she is selling the farm and he will have to get out it is quite a shock for him. Rain still loves Emily even though it has been so long since they last saw each other. He needs to do something to try and keep her there, to try and get her to see that the farm is not all terrible. He was really so sweet and kind at times and I really liked him.
Emily quickly starts battling with herself. On one hand she wants to stay unemotional. She wants to keep her emotions off, wants to keep not feeling anything. On the other hand she is starting to crack, starting to feel things again and doesn't know what to do about that. She is starting to feel for Rain again, but that is not how this was supposed to go. She was supposed to come back and show him how much better than him she is, how she doesn't need a stupid farmhand anymore. Again with another author I would have hated Emily and her need to show Rain how much better than him she is. I would have found that really horrible, but with this author it just was how Emily was. The writing softened it, softened Emily, so even though she was trying to be cold and calculating you could still see the kind, caring person that is inside. Really a beautiful story. I loves seeing Emily battle her own emotions, I loved seeing her come together with Rain, I really enjoyed most of this book.
So my one issue with the story? The ending. It was way too quick for me, for this story, and I wish it would have been a little different. **slight spoilers** I wish Emily would have been able to forgive Rain just because he is a good person and obviously he didn't mean to do anything terrible. I wish she would have been able to realize how terrible she has been and how she needs to let go of the past. Instead she gets something that shows her how Rain wasn't the terrible person she thought so she should go back to him. I wish she would have been able to make that choice without the new information that even Rain didn't know. That is my only complaint about the book. It would have been a 5 star book had Emily been able to get over the past and work her way back to Rain. Still a great read that I highly recommend. I look forward to reading more from this author.
In this story, Emily and her mother lived happy and free on their farm until one day, Emily's mother passed away in a farm accident. Emily wanted to never remember this incident again so she left the farm and went to the city for a office job. After 10 years, Emily decided to come back and sell the farm but while she was there, she had found Rain, a boy she nicknamed while she was living on the farm. Rain was the most handsome boy Emily has ever seen and Rain wanted to keep Emily here and not have her sell the farm. Rain had said the sweetest things to Emily to make her stay at the farm to live with him. In the end, Emily didn't sell the farm and lived happy with Rain on the farm.
I picked up this book because I had never read romance and it was a story about Ontario and where I live. This book looked very nice from the front and from reading the summary. Another reason I picked up this book is because i always wanted to live in a farm and see how life is. The title was the main reason I picked up this book because I wanted to know who "Rain" was or what "Rain" was.
I finished this book because it was very sweet and heart touching. You always wanted to know what Rain would say to Emily and what they would be doing together because it was so beautiful.
I would recommend this book to first time romance readers because it follows the same outline as most romance. Girl and boy separates for a long time, they meet up again, they live happily ever after. That trend starts to get boring after a while so I would recommend this to first time romance readers. One person I wouldn't recommend this to is someone in heartbreak. Its just going to make their breakup even harder.
In this heartbreaking novel you meet two individuals who grew up together but allowed guilt and blame to keep them apart for ten years after a tragic accident. Ray “Rain” Storm and Emily tells a story of love throughout the ages that remained strong even as Emily tried to hate and Rain tried to forget. There are several unexpected twists and turns throughout the book that keep you reading from chapter to chapter without pause. I thoroughly enjoyed this story of love, happiness, tragedy and growth. I cried and a laughed and I was able to relate to each of the main characters and really found myself involved in the outcome of their lives.
I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys romance novels with happy endings!!!

It is a good lite read for a romance fiction. The book give a good story, instead of just plain sex seen every other page. There are conflicting emotion for Emily and Rain, from a childhood soulmate to falling in love for each other, to then, Emily move away from her pass life and create a new, mean cold angry Emily while Rain are still staying behind, working as what Emily would consider as a farm hand her for Emily's family farm. 10 Years later, Emily came back to the farm with only one purpose, to sell it and make some posh money out of the farm with her so call current boyfriend. However, she also found that her old long gone emotion towards the farm, towards Rain is alife again. This is a book with emotional, conflicts, and also question the things we thought we know best, but only found that we might not.
Rain and Emily have a past. they were raised as siblings until they were teenagers and realized they were not siblings. Best friends their entire life. Emily's mom dies when she is a teenager and as soon as she graduates, she is gone, never to return ... until now. She and her hot shot city boyfriend want to sell the farm she and Rain were raised on to the highest bidder. Rain won't go so easy. This was an emotional tale of loss and forgiveness. The story was a quick read with high emotion. I also LOVED the inner story.
I gave this book 3 stars mostly because I'm not a huge romance fan, however the book had a good flow that kept me interested. Many women professionals could identify with Emily's concept of leaving their small hometown for a bigger, more exciting world. But as the story progresses we see a very unhappy young lady with a theme of love and loss. Having some interest in family history, I liked how the story wove in the past ancestors of Emily and the surprising turn of how it changes her future.
A bit to cliche for my liking. I found it to be predictable, especially the characters and their development. There wasn't anything out of the ordinary with this book basically. I don't regret reading it but I don't feel the need to rush out to read anything else from this author.
Something about the writing style, I just didn't click with. It took me awhile to really get into the book and I always found myself checking how far along I was, which in general, I take that as a sign the book hasn't kept my attention enough.
Enjoyed the book but didn't like the main character, Emily's behaviour at all. Regardless of the pain and anguish she suffered from her mother's death, I think she treated her father and Rain despicably.
If you like a bit more description in the bedroom (as in ANY description), you'll be disappointed but for those who prefer that sort of thing left to the imagination, this is for you. The kissing scenes are well written.
What a beautifully told love story of two tortured souls. So, in love with each other they can't get out of their own way. Well, really that it not true. Emily is the start & finish of all the trouble. She's just spoiled. Rain (Ray) is such a fantastic guy that when does do little things as pay back she really does deserve it. But this book makes you happy, sad, & mad. You laugh & cry too. A very special read the best part is there is a love story within a love story.
If I could give this book more than five stars, I would rate it the maximum stars! It's just that good! Not many books grab me on page one. FALLING FOR RAIN did so. I love historical fiction and a good love story and these writers did an excellent job blending the two. (I read that Meadow Taylor is a pen name for two writers.) I highly recommend this book! (Will there be a sequel?)
This is a love story. Emily left the rural Canadian farm and did not return for 10 years after her Mother's death. Rain, the man that grew up with her was still there. They are reconnected and than parted. Eventually, all misunderstandings are cleared up and life is once again good. It is really an enticing story. One you want to keep reading, but yet don't want it to end.
Emily ran from her hometown and young love, at the death of her mother. Years later she wants to shed every bit of her past by selling her family farm and making the final slash that will break ties with Rain. Emily has become successful, hard and full of disdain for anything from her past. Clean, brief read. Pretty obvious what will happen. Shallow characters.
Everyone needs to read a happily ever after book like this. Emily has bitterly left her rural life behind and has become a business savvy executive only to return to the farm to settle the estate after her father has passed away. There she is confronted with the emotions she thought she left behind
This book really disappointed me. I have read another book by this author and absolutely loved it, but this one was just not interesting. The characters were flat and had little personality. The plot was very dull and the story was very slow. I was really anticipating reading this book. I hope the other ones I read are better.
2 3/4 stars. Some of the plot insufficiently developed, some of it kind of tired. And a main character I didn't like much. But I enjoyed the rural Ontario setting, which bumped my ranking up a bit. Overall - meh.
Got this one free, now I see the price has gone up so I feel pretty lucky. This was a great read. The past cant be forgotten or hidden away in this book, seems best to face it head on. Really good read.
This book could have been a good story, but I couldn't finish it. It started to slow and it wasn't keeping my interest. I found that my mind was wondering to other things and I wasn't even paying attention to it, so I just put it down.
This book was splendidly written, the author has a true talent for writing. My only issue is that maybe she doesn't have a good grasp on human nature based on how she portrayed the main female character. A full review will follow soon.
I enjoyed this read. The heart of the book was about the value of a family . The world has many beautiful trappings not necessarily all true and good. This author was able to weave together the importance of simple things.
Downloaded because featured on iTunes. About a quarter of the way through I realized it was a romance novel. I'm a 31 year old male so I should have stopped but I was already too far gone. I had to balance my desire not to read a romance novel against my desire not to be a quitter.
