Good Life presents the Buddhist precepts as signposts on the path to discovering human beings' inherent goodness. It offers concrete ways of transforming real-life difficulties into freedom.
A useful book to read if you're curious about the precepts. Basically like listening to a group discussion at the monastery. They discuss the kinds of questions I've wondered about, things like, what's the difference between "a shaman of a South American Indian tribe using a drug to contact animal spirits before going on a hunt and people who smoke a couple of joints and get a pizza and watch Raiders of the Lost Ark." Cheri's response is brilliant. I won't spoil it by telling you.
