Choppy, disjointed story about TV/movie star Ty Hollister and his former co-star Carrie’s secret love affair/drama and all the hype that brings up again when the former secret lovers are reunited when their show Undercover Heat is about to be released on DVD 5 years after the show/couple viewers loved has ended. This is drama with a capital D. The story jumps starts more or less right before the DVD release and the tale goes back and forth over current and past details. At times hard to follow and never enough detail or depth to make the story deep enough or believable. On top of this there’s a back story of manipulation and deceit by Ty’s ex-spouse. Ty is either the most naïve TV/movie star in Hollywood or incredibly dense to not get his ex-wife’s number. Carrie has her own set of mental/emotional problems she’s working through not helped any by her deacon father who’s an overbearing nut job and hates Ty with a passion. Magically all is forgiven at the end and Carrie’s family and Carrie/Ty all live happily ever after. Had me rolling my eyes.

You might wanna skip this part of my review if you don’t want to hear my rant. Still reading? Hear goes….my biggest complaint here was the authors lacks of spatial awareness at the 89% mark. This sorta thing always causes me to stumble in a story and REALLY annoys me. Not that the story over all didn’t already annoy me. Get this….in a romantic scene Ty/Carrie are side by side on a piano bench while he’s playing her a tune. At one point Ty scoops Carrie up and sets her on the keyboard (you can just imagine the butt tune that twinkles on the keys, right?). Then the line goes on to say Carrie puts her head in this lap. Logistically? Really?...Think about that. Ok, her ass is no doubt in the air due to the height difference between the keyboard and his lap. She then strokes her hand through his hair. Hmmm…sounds awkward to me given her angle with her head in his lap, but o-k-a-y. Then he reaches up and slips his hands through her hair. Now how is that possible? If her head is in his lap wouldn’t Ty have to reach “down” to put his hands in Carrie’s hair? See what I mean? Aren’t we supposed to read with the mental picture the author gives us using our imagination as to what that looks like? Maybe this was all just one big typo that got over looked using the lap scene that should have been deleted rather than printed. Have to tell you I re-read that scene about 5 times thinking maybe I read it wrong, but nope. By this time I’m way too anal about it and the romantic scene playing out is lost on me because I’ve gotten too bogged down in the details. I trudge on to the end wishing this would have been a better story. Sigh…oh well, chalked this one up to been there done that and don’t wanna go there again.

This book is quite the soap opera! But there's that glimpse inside the Hollywood life, and the reality that just because it shows up on E! or some entertainment show (or even on the news or in a newspaper) doesn't make it true.

Ty Hollister has made it big after 5 years on the hit TV show, "Undercover Heat". He's now a big movie star making beau coup bucks and always followed by paparazzi. He's self-destructing, though, because he can't quite get over his ex... not his ex-wife, Layla, who broke up with him to become a lesbian and is now after every penny she can get, despite her 20-million dollar settlement. No, Layla is out to destroy Ty and everything he loves. Why? You'll just have to read to find out.

Meanwhile, Ty is reuniting with his former co-star and love-of-his-life, Carrie Ann. Their TV show stopped abruptly five years ago, when Carrie Ann had a mysterious illness that caused her to quit the show. Ty and Carrie were close, everyone knew that. But what they didn't know is that Ty & Carrie were secret lovers... who just happened to find themselves pregnant. Carrie Ann is a former ballerina and part of a high-maintenance, high pressure, high morals family; it's no wonder she constantly struggled with anorexia. Her father is high-up in the Catholic church, working as a Deacon to the Archbishop of New York state.

So when Ty discovered Carrie Ann, at the foot of the stairs, bleeding, where she passed out from hunger, it all hits the fan. Her family discovers she's pregnant out of wedlock. And somehow, somewhere during her hospital stay, Carrie Ann is forced to have their baby. The baby girl is pronounced still-born, but there's another secret there that involves her father and Ty...

Ty took off from the hospital without seeing Carrie Ann. Her family was throwing around too many accusations and punches. And Ty figured that they were right: he was no good for her. But he lost his heart, head, and soul to her....

So now that "Undercover Heat" is going to DVD, both Ty and Carrie Ann are bound to do the promotions for the DVD. And there's talk about possible movie deals to reunite their characters. But Carrie Ann wants nothing to do with Ty. And he can't seem to keep away from her... or stop trying to protect her from prying eyes and ears, demanding to know what really happened 5 years ago.

Put that together with his vengeful ex, Layla, and Ty's got a hack photographer with a dubious background following his every move and conversation. So much hits the fan at every turn, you wonder if Ty and Carrie Ann can ever cut through all the crap to figure out what's really going on, what to do about it, and how to finally be together.

That's the part you have to read for yourself. It's quite the romp! Sometimes fun, sometimes romantic, sometimes a tear-jerker... and sometimes you just want to hit or shoot someone! All the secrets - layers and layers of them. And they all have to be painfully revealed before anyone can get on with their lives.

It's quite a book! And even better, it was free!

Summary
Undercover Heat by Danielle LaBue is about a DVD publicity tour which reunites TV series co-stars and secret lovers for a second chance at romance. Serious issues, old secrets, and current companions try to poison their relationship reunion. You'll root for Ty and Carrie Ann and love to hate the familial frenemies. It's a roller coaster ride you won't want to stop reading and well worth the cover price.

Fantasy World
Undercover Heat takes you for a tour of the world of celebrity. This isn't a full backstage pass, but it gives the reader enough reference points to make the story relatively believable.

Tingle Factor
The sex is hot and starts off with a bang. Carrie Ann is very wholesome but falls prey to a bit of panty tossing lust.

Romance
It's always clear the main characters love each other, but sometimes that love seems to hinder instead of help them. Not too sappy, yet involving.

Drama
A nasty ex-wife and a holier than thou father ramp up the drama. Fan girls and paparazzi also add a nice bit of seasoning.

Heroine
Carrie Ann has fought to overcome her issues and does a fairly good job of standing up for herself. She occasionally wobbles showing scars from youthful incidents, but it makes her more real. Readers may want her to stand up more to her adversaries, but that's just not who she is.

Hero
Ty is the “Sexiest Man Alive” who treats women like an all you can eat buffet, but has a heart of gold. He has his own issues some of which he shares with Carrie Ann, and none of which he has dealt with well. Ty stands by his woman though and you'll be jealous you don't get a chance to cop a feel of this celebrity heartthrob.

This did not come together for me. Except for Ty being a man-whore after leaving Carrie Ann "for her own good" he was the most sympathetic character by far. He was apparently the only one who even attempted to help Carrie through her illness, and I really didn't understand why Carrie didn't seem to grasp this. We were supposed to dislike her dad, which I did, but I did not feel he was redeemed by the vague explanation of his actions the night Carrie Ann was in the hospital. The climactic scene at the fancy shmancy dinner was not very exciting either. I did like the over the top craziness of Layla: ex-wife, sometime lesbian and full time villain and her dopey but super icky cohort. So, I did like Ty, and the villains enough to keep reading, kind of odd.

A couple of actors who once had a relationship however due to illness and interfering from others the relationship took a nose dive. Carrie is insecure and in the five years since the relationship she has become confident. Ty is destructive and unable to become the man he was due to what happened with Carrie.

The story is good and the characters are relatable. The chemistry seems real enough for me to be drawn into the story.

Carrie's interfering family seems to be the driving part of why the relationship isn't working. Due to her father being a deacon and everyone jumping to conclusions seem to be the wedge.

I like it and this story has so much more to offer.

Overall the honesty at the end is what intrigued me and drew me into the story.

I enjoyed the story although it was corny at times and the explanations for things were a bit weak.

Carrie Ann and Ty get a second chance after they get back together for a DVD release of a hit TV show they were on. Add the media, an over protective family, a crazy ex wife, and let the shenanigans begin.

I am not real sure where I should begin with this book other than WOW! I Loved it! I love the faith the leading lady shows, the idea that not all of us women are gullible! The fact that not every person believes what they read or see on TV!

I just want to thank you for this book! It is encouraging to finally read a story where the female sticks up for themselves!

While I liked this book, the men in it are so controlling. They tend to think they have power over any decision the women make and I can't say I liked that. It got incredibly annoying and frustrating when Ty made decisions for Carrie and she did nothing to stick up for herself.

I really liked this book. This was the first time reading a book by this author. I loved the characters and how they connected. You will be romance, sadness and humor all in this book. I would read another one of Danielle LaBue's books.

The book was good. Not one of the best that I've read but decent. I enjoyed the troubles that Carrie Ann went through and how she was able to overcome them, and I really enjoyed Ty having Manny as his assistant.

I hate to be silly but any book that starts off the with H womanizing/whoring around in the first couple chapters will automatically start off at a 1 star. It'll take some freaking awesome writing to work it's way back to an "acceptable" 3 star read for me...
