I never NOT complete a book that I start, but I am giving up on Paradise Lost. Although John Milton uses beautiful language, I have to really concentrate on deciphering every single sentence. My brain is on overdrive trying to logically string together his words. So goodbye Mr. Milton. Maybe I'll try the Cliff note edition.
Incredible poetry - some of the best in any language. Milton was clearly a literary genius, and this is a phenomenal text on the literary level. Is he successful in making a sympathetic and yet detestable villain or defending the ways of God? That is debatable ... and perhaps impossible.
