BOOK #12 in Carmen-Downloads-20-Free-Ebooks-Onto-Her-Kindle-Day. More widely known as March 3rd, 2015.
Poor 75-year-old vampire Felicity Shaw is an event planner who is hired to plan rich, 600-year-old vampire billionaire Dominic Blackmoore's wedding. The only trouble is that he ends up more enamored with the mouthy Felicity than his own blueblood bride-to-be. ...
Sigh. This is just not my type of book at all. Let's break it down.
1.) I am not attracted to rich, suit-wearing assholes. I know this kind of hero is very popular right now, especially after Fifty Shades, but it turns me off. Always a rich, sneering guy comes and sweeps a poor, struggling woman off her feet.
I don't trust rich people. My reactions towards a very rich man in tailored Armani is not lust and awe, but instead wariness and caution. Add on top of this the smirking, sneering, commanding, domineering side these heroes always have and what you end up with is an asshole.
Everything about him screamed money as surely as if he wore a red neon sign with flashing dollar signs on it. To me, this is someone to avoid, not someone I see as sexy.
Instead of thinking Dominic was a strong, capable man - I saw him as an entitled, spoiled little boy who couldn't stand not getting everything he wants RIGHT NOW. To me, this is not sexy.
His nostrils flared; a bead of sweat rolled down his spine. "When I want something, I get it. I always win."
He sounds like a spoiled child.
He expects her to be at his beck and call, he comes to her house without permission, into her bedroom while she's sleeping - uninvited, etc. etc. He hangs up on her on the phone, even when she's in the middle of a sentence - I mean, what the fuck is wrong with this guy?
2.) The sex. This isn't really what I'm into. Orgasm denial, punishing a woman sexually, etc. etc. I know this BDSM-lite or BDSM-flavored is so very popular right now but a lot of the fun of reading erotica is reading about sex that you - the reader - enjoy. So this was a loser for me. The sex portrayed here was overall not appealing to me.
Also, the two main characters are vampires and I think biting someone and sucking their blood is a disgusting - not erotic - activity. At one point, Felicity licks a wound Dominic has on his stomach. Blergh, OMG. So icky. This whole idea is really a turn-off and they do erotic blood-sucking in every single sex scene.
I'm not into men who are possessive, controlling, and punishing. He's abusive.
The 'dirty talk' is terrible. o.O
3.) I'm pretty sure Grey named Dominic that just so Felicity could call him "Dom" all the time.
4.) The whole crux of the novel is that Dominic is engaged to a woman and wants Felicity to agree to be his mistress. This man has no honor. He's totally fine with being married and having a woman on the side, and he seems baffled by Felicity's reluctance to agree to this arrangement. He can't seem to wrap his head around the fact that Felicity wants him to be exclusive with her. Of course his fiancee is in the dark about this whole thing. What an immoral, dishonorable sleazebag. Not attractive.
At 18%, we see Dominic saying to himself
He knew then he'd do anything for her. He'd kill and fight. He'd lay down his life for her. He'd take his people to war for her.
ANYTHING for her.
Clearly, "anything" does not include breaking off his engagement with a woman he has absolutely no feelings for and is only marrying for political reasons. What a scumbag. Seriously, he was pissing me off.
He lies to her (really big lie) in order to trick her into having sex with him... He's scum. Even though lying to her is apparently de rigueur, he gets really angry and violent when he thinks she's lying or keeping something from him. More abusive behavior.
5.) He never listens to Felicity, takes her wants or needs seriously, he ignores her questions and requests, he orders her around, commands her to do stuff. If she doesn't listen to him or obey him, he simply picks her up and puts her where he wants her - in the car, to his house, etc., effectively kidnapping her. She is basically given all the respect one would give a four-year-old child. Less respect. More abusive behavior.
Every time she tries to protest something, or tell him to stop what he's doing, he just kisses her to shut her up and never takes her 'no's or protests seriously. Abuse, abuse.
He never answers her questions (I guess she doesn't have a right to know anything, and he thinks she should blindly trust him at all times or something).
His own anger surged. She would not ignore him. Something was wrong and he'd be damned if she'd disobeyed him.
This kind of stuff is rampant throughout.
"Because you're coming to stay with me."
She laughed, took a step back. "I don't think so."
Dom turned the handle of the front door. "You don't have a choice."
That basically sums up the whole novel: she has no choice.
"One day I'll stop asking so nicely."
She laughed at that. "And you'll what? Attack me?"
He leaned in close, his eyes blazing with anger. "No, I won't back off every time I touch you. I've been doing you a kindness. I could have had you many times before and we both know it."
Rape threats are beyond disgusting, not sexy. I'd say call the cops on him, but of course - they're vampires and outside the law.
That's it. He'd had enough. He was through with her attitude. Her "attitude" being refusing to have sex with him while he's engaged to another woman. An intense panic had swelled inside him and was about to burst. She'd leave him and he'd never truly know her. Pure male, animal instincts took over.
Stalking after her, Dom halted in front of her, grabbed her hair in a fist and crushed her body against his.
"You're not leaving me. And if you leave today it's because I let you go. Now I'm going to finally do what I've wanted to do since I first saw you, sweets." Her eyes flashed and inside he danced a small victory. "That's right, baby. I'm going to finally make you mine in the only way a man can really know a woman. Are you ready for that?"
I just can't with this. ...
IS THERE ANYTHING POSITIVE TO SAY ABOUT THIS BOOK?
1.) Yes. I like the friendship between Felicity and her best friend Beth.
2.) I always like hearing about vampire mythos, I wish I could have heard more about this and less about Dom's throbbing member. o.O It's ironic that I'm asking for more world-building and less sex from Grey, when I'm always imploring Sherrilyn Kenyon to stop going on and on about her mythos and write more sex. But that's because I actually like Kenyon's sex scenes.
3.) Secondary story/couple. The secondary story involving Felicity's best friend Beth Hamilton - Iraq war veteran with a bum leg - and Lucas Blackmoore (Dominic's brother), rock star with a possible drug problem - was 10x more interesting to me than the main Felicity/Dominic romance. I enjoyed what little of this we caught in our peripheral vision. ...
Tl;dr - I'm sure lots of people out there will sigh in happiness over this book, but this kind of hero and this kind of sex just isn't for me - it turns me off. If upon reading this review you think this book is wonderful, then great! Go for it. But it's a no-go for me. I'd rather have a hero who wants the heroine's opinion, earns her trust, listens to her when she's talking, understands the word 'no,' and respects her. I'm just crazy like that. ;)
No matter what happened, he'd find her and when he brought her back, whether kicking and screaming or calm and docile, she was going to be punished.
1 REAL STAR, 1 ROMANCE STAR
I got this for free on my Kindle by just browsing through Amazon, they were having a special. This was entry #12 in Carmen-Downloads-20-Free-Ebooks-Onto-Her-Kindle-Day. More widely known as March 3rd, 2015.
I thought this series was going to be similar to The Bellum Sisters series by this author, but it wasn't. There was no death and destruction and lots of action with crazy demon beasts. This book is mainly about Dom and Felicity fighting their crazy attraction to each other. Well, she fights it because he's engaged, it's a political match and he doesn't like his fiancée, but Felicity still refuses him. She's not into being the mistress or other woman. That's basically the whole book - Felicity going about planning his wedding to Julianna while resisting this advances and Dom trying to figure out how to win the election for council president and keep Felicity. It's mainly all romantic drama and sexy times. I prefer there to be more adventure type action.
Dominic Blackmoore remember that name because believe me after reading this book you won't forget it.
I'm a big fan of T.A.Grey i have read everything she has written so when i knew this book was coming out i couldn't wait to read it.
And it has Vampires and Weres my two favourite things well add a third thing to that as it also has loads of sex scenes.
And Oh my giddy heart is this book Hot the sex scenes are raw and sexy and i loved every minute of it, i can feel a cold shower coming on. ;)
We have one very sexy Alpha Vampire (Dominic) who is a Blue blood and after losing his father he is trying to be elected for a seat on the council to keep the seats even and not let the Weres take over.
Then we have Felicity who scrapes by just making it by trying to pay her bills, she has to ask her friend for blood because she is so poor.
So when a job interview for a event planner lands her in lap she will do anything to land that job.
When Dominic and Felicity first meet Wow something just clicks and the sexual tension between them is hot and this carries on through the book. But yeah you guessed it always a but, Dominic is to be mated to another women (Julianna) whom he has no feelings for he just needs her to get his seat.
As their feeling grow and Dominic being your typical Alpha he wont leave Felicity alone so Felicity tells him he has to choose.
While all this is going on we do meet some of Dominic's brothers. Lucas is a singer and it turns out Felicity best friend Beth has a big crush on him.I wont say to much about that as i have a feeling their story will be told in another book.
We also meet Vas and i have my own sneaky little feeling about him and someone else. There is also Grayson my heart hurts for Grayson he puts up with alot from his Bruid and I'm keeping my Fingers crossed for him.
We also meet Helena who is Dominic's ex bruid and she is a cold hearted bitch who likes nothing more then to stir it up and get to Felicity but oh my she gets her comeuppance at the end.And i was shouting at those scenes and cheering Felicity on.
And then theres Zeke the Alpha Were i did find him sexy in a weird kind of way.He is running for the same seat as Dominic and will do anything to get it,including attempted murder and kidnapping.
Zeke does come around a little bit at the end but i also have bad feeling about that but once again I'm hoping to find answers to that in the next book.
Will Dominic mate with Julianna? Will Felicity and Dominic mate? Will Dominic be mine? lol oh i wish. This is such a great read and i can't wait to find out more about the other brothers especially one brother who has found a spot in my heart.I highly recommend this book.
Let me start by saying i liked the main, basic plot of this story.
Near the end of this book though, I decided to come and read some reviews because surely I wasn't the only one having problems with this book. Imagine my surprise when I saw that it has four stars! I just don't understand....
There was nothing likable about Dominic Blackmoore If I were Felicity, my butt would have had a restraining order against him. There were so many times I thought he was going to rape her. His line about "I always get what I want" made me want to scream. It really aggravated me that he didn't seem to care about what she wanted.
"The look" was another thing that made me roll my eyes.
Character development was lacking in places. The main character I noticed this with was Felicity's friend, Beth.
We were told numerous times that the Alpha Zeke was insane but yet we never heard a story or saw anything that supports the insanity.
There were also several things that happened that made me say "huh?! That makes no sense! No sense at all!!" Decisions that were made, things that were said, things that were done...
World building details seemed to be thrown into odd places in order to make scenes work. Near the end of the book, something happens and an ability concerning blood is mentioned. I wanted to throw the book at that point and I asked my Nook, out loud, why we are just now hearing of this ability. So so aggravating.
OK, so I'm not claiming this isn't a quality book but there was very little in it that appealed to me. I simply didn't like it. More often than not, the characters reacted to stimuli in ways that made me cringe and/or ignored the things I thought would be important in those same circumstances. My frustration level remained high for almost all of it.
To start with, Dom was a straight up dick. He kept spouting off about how he loved Felicity and would do anything for her, when he very clearly wouldn't...didn't. Even the change of circumstances that finally allowed them to be together wasn't at his impetus and it's pretty obvious that he would never have done it if things were left to him. Then when that change did occur it wasn't at all clear that it wasn't just another political machination. (What it was however was predictable.)
Further, he spoke disparagingly of his father's tendency to keep mistresses while SIMULTANEOUSLY trying make the same arrangement with Felicity. He gave not one thought to the fact that if he got his way he would be selfishly consigning his mate to an eternity married to a man who refused her even the barest emotional (let alone physical) connection. Asshat! Asshat. Asshat. Asshat. And if I can't bring myself to like, let alone sympathise with the hero there isn't much chance of me liking the book.
Felicity wasn't much better. I found her to be a weak-willed pushover with poor decision making skills. But even worse, she said repeatedly that she wouldn't be with Dom until he was no longer with Julianna. Note, not I won't be with you BECAUSE you're with Julianna, but until you're not, which substantively isn't much of a moral improvement over just being the mistress. It's still destroying someone else's relationship. The only real difference would be to HER pride and if in the long run, she has to play first or second fiddle. Bitch! Bitch. Bitch. Bitch. And if I can't bring myself to like, let alone sympathise with the heroine there isn't much chance of me liking the book.
I'm afraid my dislike began on page one, when it started with a dubiously consensual sex scene between two unknown characters (and I mean paragraph one, page one starting). I almost didn't make it past that first chapter before tossing this on the DNF pile. I just didn't care about the characters yet. Heck, I didn't know the characters, circumstance, history, etc. So how exactly was I supposed to care? This was also problematic because since it was stated in this anchorless sex scene that it was their first time having sex together, in all of the subsequent almost sex scenes I knew it wouldn't come to fruition. Totally ruined the sense of suspense.
I also had trouble with the writing. Again, I'm not saying it was bad, just didn't appeal to me. I found the onomatopoeias (thump, boom, thwack) annoying, even more so since they were sometimes italicised and sometime capitalised. Either way I found they broke the flow of the narrative.
There were a lot of editing mistakes—typo-type/grammar mistakes, but also the more annoying content errors. For example, Felicity was said at one point to be 75 years old, at another she was said to be 118. She's said to be short at one point and then tall for a woman at another, etc.
I also found it repetitive, in terms of using the same phrases again and again (I thought I might gag if I read "the look" one more time), using the same word more than once is a short amount of time (often in the same sentence) and telling the reader the same information numerous times.
Lastly, and I'm not sure how to make this make any more sense here than it did in the book, I had a lot of trouble with the use of the word 'were' as an abbreviation for werewolf. The problem was that when stranded in a sentence it was read as were (like were you there). Which means I often read it as the past subjunctive of the word be, then finished the sentence only to then have to go back and read it again once I realised it was supposed to be werewolf. Even after that I was stricken to hear it pronounced in my head as were instead of where, as if said by some strongly accented person. IMO, it would have worked better if the author had used the full term, werewolf, or if an abbreviation was necessary, wolf, thereby avoiding the confusion of terms.
I know people like this book. I've seen all the good reviews. I'll even admit that the world it presented was an interesting one and I did appreciate that the author broke away from the norm by letting her hero fail on occasion Unfortunately, I found myself procrastinating about picking up my kindle, while normally I'm picking up my kindle to procrastinate about other things. Almost nothing about the story or the characters made me happy. It's mostly all personal preferences, but I'm happy to be finished with it.
What’s a vamp to do when she falls on tough times and can barely “feed” herself. Well….Try landing “The” decorating job of the century by fibbing on her resume for starters!
But having the most irresistible and dominating male on the planet mistake one for their future bruid? Yeah that wasn’t in the plans, nor was falling head over fang for him either.
Thus begins Felicity Shaw’s whirl wind, roller coaster ride when she meets the indomitable Dominic Blackmoore. Not only is she chosen to plan the mating ceremony of the century, but she has to battle her fierce attraction to him as well. She is after all not that kind of vamp.
On top of battling her own attraction she must also battle Dom and his “If I want it, I will get it” attitude, and what he wants is Ms. Felicity Shaw. Add to this a crazy Alpha were, and a run for the presidency of the were’s and vamps….Wow can we say recipe for disaster! LOL!
From page one this book sizzled with the heat that the two of them put off! Everything kept you on your toes, with the clashing of wills, the rivalry between Dom and the Alpha were, and the scorching love scenes. Although I have to admit I wanted to throttle a certain male vampire because of his uncaring attitude at first, then the rascal grew on me. By the end of the story I was so in love with him I wanted to switch places with Felicity.
Over all I can’t wait to read more in this series and see what happens with the other brother’s, and perhaps Beth as well.( At least I hope we get to read her story.) HINT HINT…to Ms. Grey.
T.A. Grey is fast becoming one of my favorite authors! Her books are meticulously detailed and her characters are well-developed. I wondered if this book would wow me like her previous books I’ve read, and I was not disappointed!
I love the ill-fated story between Dominic and Felicity. When they first meet, their instant connection is explosive, until Dominic, Dom for short, realizes he has mistaken her for his betrothed. As the two work to try and ignore what’s between them, the flames are constantly fanned by Dom’s insistence that Felicity is his. However, he needs a blue-blooded mate to help him secure his electoral hopes and Felicity’s blood just isn’t enough.
Felicity struggles through most of the book for loving a man who belongs to someone else. She is thoroughly disgusted when Dom proposes the brilliant idea of becoming his mistress. As she struggles to remember that Dom is off limits, she constantly weakens at his touch. Is there a way for Dom and Felicity to be together on their terms?
I really enjoyed this book. So many obstacles kept getting in the way of Dom and Felicity’s love and I had to force myself not to skip to the end to find out if they really were able to have their HEA. Did it happen? You’ll have to read for yourself to find out! I enjoyed reading about the secondary characters, especially all of Dom’s brothers. Each brother introduced had his own demons and I am hoping they will be featured in future books so we can find out more. A great start to a promising series!
I'm very picky with paranormal books. It's not really my cup of tea. So when I read this kind of genre, it's either a missed or a hit and TAKE ME is definitely a big HIT!
Dominic is one powerful sexy hot vampire! I think if I google the word ALPHA, Dominic will be in the list! He was frustrating at first. All these political shit and responsibility drove me crazy! And don't get me started the way he treated Felicity.. ugh.. the hot and cold treatment was fascinating but frustrating at the same time. lol. But despite all these, it was hard to stay too angry with him. He's very possessive.. the way he growled and when he command something it's uber sexy! Seriously.. I creamed myself.
“Come back here,” he growled. She shook her head. His eyes narrowed.
Felicity is a likeable heroine. She started off as a very strong character but throughout the story, she became a little weak specially when it comes to Dominic. But hey, I'm not judging here. If I were in her shoes, I'll probably do the same thing. :)
“I’m a Blackmoore, Felicity. I get what I want.”
The chemistry and sexual tension was right on my face I couldn't help but get so frustrated but at the same time feel tingly! lol. Does that make any sense? The sex scenes are fuckin' hot it's scorching! You know when you read a sexy scenes and you kinda curl and clench your toes while reading it? Yeah, it was that bloody hot! He can bite me all day everyday! lol
In this book, we met Dom's brothers.. Lucas- the hot sexy singer.. rawr~ can't wait for him and Beth. Grayson- the protector.. omg.. I feel sorry for this guy! Vas.. the scarred one.. I have a feeling who he will get paired up with.. hehe! Oh.. and let's not forget Zeke.. the alpha crazy werewolf.
eeeeek! I cannot wait to read their own story!
Omo.. I loved this book! Love the story, love Dom, love Felicity, love the other characters, love the sexual tension, love the sex, love the twist and turn- and Oh! LOVE THE SEX!
This is going to be an epic series!!
Highly recommend this to anyone who loves paranormal with a bunch of hot possessive men!
Dominic is a possessive vampire who refuses to take no for an answer when it comes to Felicity. Most of the time I didn't know what I was feeling about Dominic. From one chapter to the next it was, I hate him, he's a cheater, I love him, what the hell is he doing, liar liar pants on fire, aww he’s sweet, back to asshole, yum Mr Sex me up. Dominic kept me so riled up I'm rambling just trying to find the words to describe his character. Now Felicity, she's a sweet, talented, and ambitious event planner in need of a job even if it means doing a bit of resume lying to get it.
The story starts with Dominic mistaking Felicity as his future bruid. When he realizes she is the event planner it's too late. In his mind she is already his. Now he just has to convince Felicity of this, deal with his real bruid, win a political race against the crazed alpha Zeke, and all will be fine....or will it?
I am eagerly awaiting the next addition to this series.
FYI....Maybe I'm a little crazy, but I'm a bit taken with the insane Alpha Zeke. Poor Zeke, can't find his mate to help quench his sexual needs. I bet when he finds her, that will be some more sex a-thon. Hopefully Ms Gray will write him in the series.
I freaking loved this book!! I was a big fan of the Kategan Alphas [especially books 4 & 6] so I'm not surprised that yet again T.A. Grey has sucked me into the world of another great read.
I have one request though: for the next book in the series to be on Lucas Blackmoore and Felicity's human friend Beth? I was so unbelievably curious as to the deal with them and why Lucas f*&*ed it up or so it seemed anyway with those two groupie girls.
I'm looking forward to the next book in this series but it looks like the next work according to Ms. Grey is the MacKellen Alpha series as stated at the end of "Take Me". Can't wait to read that series too now!
oh t.a. grey how do i love thee???? let me count the ways...1 roman, 2 jeron, 3 cade, 4 telal, 5 lyonis and now 6. dom! i absolutely loved this book, and can't wait for more of the series to come! a great read, couldn't put it down once i started reading it,lol. great story, great characters,a nd i'm sure you have some more wonderful pairings to come from this series. in a word you are simply brilliant! keep writing my friend, and i promise to keep reading and re-reading. i find it amazing that you write characters who are (for lack of a better word) d-bags,lol, but yet you write them so well, that we can begin to actually care about them, because i admit, when i started the book, dom was not high on my list, but once again (much like alric) you won me over with him ;)
T.A. has outdone herself with this book, the first installment of The Untouchables. I'm becoming a bigger and bigger fan with every book of hers I read and am honored to be a part of her Alpha Squad. Dominic Blackmoore is one hot, sexy vamp with a walking you know what for Felicity! Felicity is a hard ass with a burning desire for Dom! Their chemistry is to die for! What they go through in this book, their fight against each other and for each other, against all odds and ultimatums to come through it all at the end with the greatest love of all left me with goosebumps and ready for the next installment! <3 T.A. and her books!!!
'Take Me', by T.A Grey, left me torn. There were moments that I completely loved this story and the characters, while at other times, I growled very audibly and became seriously frustrated by the characters reactions and developments.
Did it win me over in the end? Hell yes!
The characters, Dominic and Felicity, are an intriguing creation of T.A. grey's, as is the world the author creates. The storyline's concept is creative and enjoyable. I liked it a lot, especially considering the author successfully followed through in creating a fantasy paranormal world that offered an element of realism. This is always a winner for me. I like feeling as though a story could happen. Could become reality. It helps to successfully draw in my imagination and keeps my attention.
Dominic is a growling, sexy aristocratic vampire. He's also the epitome of a domineering vampire. This made the sex scenes so unbelievably hot. And I do mean, seriously, in need of a cold shower hot, but at the other time, the confident, take-no-nonsense woman in me, became seriously pee'd off at this. The same relates to Felicity's reaction of his dominance. As I said early, it left me feeling torn.
Felicity presented an interesting character too. She had moments of being super feisty. the sort of vamp that any woman could aspire to be like, then on the flip side, she'd react in ways that were a little too 'dumb' and thoughtless, and maybe even a little weak. She's something of an enigma.
The plot develops at good pace, with lots of action, of all kinds, plus there are many moments where the author produces interesting descriptive chapters to develop and draw out characters and the plot. The ending is exactly what I hoped for. I was particularly fond of how the author allowed Felicity to step up to the challenge before her.
This is a series that I could happily get hooked on.
This one started off okay but went downhill quickly. The "hero" is loathsome and selfish. The heroine is desperately stupid as a result of her instantaneous attraction to the disgusting pig of a hero (my apologies to the pigs out there.) Also, it seemed like every, single character in this book was too stupid to live! Seriously, as awful as the hero was, he was a million times better than the antagonist (crazy werewolf foe) who still somehow managed to gain the support of seemingly intelligent people. Only finished this because I ALWAYS finish any book I start, despite the trauma it might inflict on me. Ugh. There is so much more I could complain about BUT .... I need to bleach my brain now.
Okay, I hated the hero. Hated him. People are complaining that the heroine betrayed the hero??? What about what the hero did to her???? How can people forgive him??? Ugh. I had high hopes for this book because I loved one of the author's other books, but I don't know if I'll read her anymore.
T. A. Grey’s “Take Me”—book 1 in her new series “The Untouchables—is a smartly crafted, highly erotic, and emotionally charged paranormal romance. Grey deviates from her usual alternate-reality style in “Take Me” to suck readers into a destructive love triangle/quadrangle in a tempting almost-reality world. Grey’s primary male character is domineering, sexy, yet sometimes clueless…basically a normal male. Her primary female character is flawed, ambitious, and down-right normal. Readers can identify with the characters’ feelings of pain, love, lust, loss, betrayal, and pure determination to overcome any obstacle. Although “Take Me” was written for a paranormal genre, the overwhelming undercurrent of normalcy flowing through the world and themes draws the reader in and doesn’t let go. Grey even created a villain so devious, so crazy, so sexy, so utterly broken that it is impossible to hate him. Grey has worked hard to make this group of immortal bad boys anything but Untouchable…Yum!
Dominic Blackmoore had not met his Bruid, but when he sees her he thinks he could happy with the selection. The problem is the woman he thought was his Bruid is the event coordinator for the bonding ceremony. As much as Dominic would like to follow his heart and take Felicity as his Bruid, his main reason behind a Bruid is politically based.
Felicity is given a huge opportunity by this event, the problem is she is attracted to Dominic and is making it difficult to resist his interest in her. Felicity does not plan to be a mistress, but Dominic is not willing to let her go. As the cards fall and Felicity and Dominic find themselves struggling to be together, a lie threatens to throw them apart.
Interesting story. This was quite different than what I expected. Dominic is pure alpha male and I was definitely intrigued. Looking forward to more in this series.
It was not an exaggerating when T.A. Grey warned if you started reading Take Me you would be up all night. I couldn't put it down once I started reading it! I finished the entire story in less than a day and now I'm left waiting for the next release. The characters made me laugh and at moments made me want to smack them upside the head! Over all the books content and story line is amazingly entertaining. I've been a fan of T.A. Grey since book 3 of her Kategan Alphas Series and I have to say this new series has the potential of being her best to date. A definite must read!
Enjoyed this book until about 84 or 85% and it just went completely down hill for me. The attempt to redeem Felicity back into the readers good graces was a colossal failure for me. I know many people on here loved the book, hated Dom, but loved Felicity, yet I liked Dom and started hating Felicity throughout the story, which started off great. Sure sucks because I was thinking about how this was going to go in my top for 2015, but Naw..... Not now. I almost DNF'ed this book but ended up scanning through the rest.
3.5 Stars I remember being intrigued by this story, the world and characters. There is (or was) quite a few editing errors. You will notice them. The sex scenes are hot. I know I planned on reading more of the series. Just not sure why I didn't. More than likely got sidetracked by other books that are better written and forgot about this. I do have at least one other book in the series that I own and plan on trying to get the rest.
I read a lot of books, from all different kinds of genres, but my go-to is generally romance....nasty, sexy, dirty romance. I have zero shame in admitting the sexier the better. Contemporary, paranormal, it doesn’t really matter to me. But I do like it to have an actual story behind all the sex, and its important to me to see a connection between the characters beyond lust. That is one of the reasons why I have become such a big fan of this author. She has several series' to choose from, mostly all of them are of the paranormal variety, and this one has already become one of my favorites.
Women, they were tricky business. A man had to step carefully lest he find himself in a pit of despair, longing after the one he wants and getting nothing but scorn in return. What was it about her that drove him crazy? He'd never had such a wild and instantaneous reaction to a woman before.
I've come to expect certain things from a TA Grey novel & this book definitely delivers. 1) fast-paced, pulse-pounding, thrill ride? Check! 2) feisty, smart-mouthed heroine with a strong backbone but knows when to submit? Check-Check 3) Hott, badass, possessive Alpha who can easily take control & craves it, Knows when he has screwed up & actually admits it, has a heart of gold beneath the gruff exterior that allows him to show his soft side occasionally? Oh & sexy as all hell?? Oh. My. Gawd!! CHECK!!! 4) Smokin-hott, panty-melting, you-will-need-a-cold-shower, STEAMY love scenes? Ummm, oh yeah!!
"Because from the moment I saw you, I knew. I knew you were perfect for me. Everything about you drew me to you like a moth to light. I'm going to have you Felicity...many, many times."/i>
Felicity Shaw has just landed the job of a lifetime as event planner for the mating ceremony of Dominic Blackmoore & Julianna Greenwich. There is just one problem. From the moment her & Dom meet, there is an insane sexual attraction between the two. Dom makes it perfectly clear that he wants to indulge in their chemistry & often, but Felicity puts her foot down. Aside from the fact that she's flat broke & desperately needs this job, she refuses to be the "other woman".
"Tell me what I have to do to get inside you and I'll do it. Name it. Anything." Her heart constricted. "I-you're getting bonded to Julianna Greenwich." His jaw clenched, eyes turned flat. "And?" Just like that she felt cold. "And I don't mess around with non-single men." "I can't give you that. I need her." She winced. Why did those words feel like a blow straight to the heart? "Yes, well, I'm not going to be a home wrecker. You can't touch me anymore. We need to keep our distance." He turned his head away. Anger bounced off him in waves. Their arousal still saturated the air around them with that mouth-watering scent. "She means nothing to me. I only met her for the first time the night I met you." "Yes, but she's still going to be the one you're bonded to a month from now."
As long as he's to be mated to Julianna, she won't get involved with him. Dom has no interest in Julianna personally, she's a political pawn to help him in his race for presidency of their counsel. For those reasons, he cannot choose to stop the bonding & be with Felicity. She lacks the social standing & background he needs to win. That doesn't stop him from wanting her & he always gets what he wants. He pursues her with the determination of a drowning man reaching for a raft.
Everyone had their limits. It looked like he'd have to find Felicity's. He understood her trepidation, really. But Julianna was nothing to him. A political pawn. That's all. He and Felicity had something unique. Something he couldn't remember ever feeling.
The harder he pushes, the weaker Felicity becomes. Besides the election & Julianna, deceit, crazy ex's, murder attempts, an unstable Alpha & so much more stand in their way & threaten to tear them apart forever. Throw in some steamy encounters, cat fights, Alpha brawls, sexual tension & lots of humor. What. A. RIDE!!! I cannot wait to see what comes next in this series. With three more hott-as-sin, issue-riddled Blackmoore brothers, the possibilities are endless.
The main male lead, Dominic, is engaged to one woman, Julianna, and yet wants Felicity, the female lead, to agree to being his mistress. Felicity tells him "no" she will Not be his mistress and that he has to choose, it is either Her or Julianna. Dom constantly tells Felicity that he can not choose her and that he needs to win the Election and that Julianna will help him win. The situation becomes very annoying and repetitive.
Dominic Blackmoore is an Azz. Finally, Julianna, gets tired of the situation, she over hears Dom's true feelings and calls off the mating ceremony. He would have married Julianna if she would not have broken off the engagement. And after that realization the entire book lost major stars in my opinion. Dom was a selfish person who did not care about others and had the nerve to be surprised that Juliana canceled the wedding. Why wouldn't she cancel the wedding, he did not care about her and said it over and over again? If he wanted a marriage for political purposes, shouldn't he have discussed it with her first? But, no, when she asked him about Felicity, he told her that it was none of her business, WTF ?!? Um, you tell your wife that you wanting a mistress is none of her business?
Felicity worked on my nerves too. No matter how shitty Dom treated her, she still went back for more. She asked him to pick between her and Julianna more than once and he always picked Juliana. Then, when Julian broke off the mating with Dom, he immediately lets out a press release that he will be marrying Felicity before even asking her, again WTF?!? Dom told Felicity over and over that he had to marry Julianna for political reasons, yet the very moment Julianna gives him the boot, it is ok for him to marry Felicity? Really? What a selfish jerk! Dom had no redeeming qualities. Felicity ended up with Dom only by default due to Julianna leaving Him not the other way around like it should have been. This situation did not feel Romantic the way Dom took Felicity for granted.
Also, Dom told Felicity that she would not have to fight Helena, his ex mate, at their own wedding as a challenge, he told Felicity that he would threaten Helena financially and that would prevent her from challenging Felicity. However, Felicity still had to fight at her own wedding, Dom did not keep his word, yet again, proving that he had no redeeming qualities.
The best part of the book for me was when Dom lost the Political race to Zeke. Zeke did not have a mate but won the election anyway, it served Dom right for the crazy foolishness that he put Felicity through.
Again, This book had so much Potential but fell short, so very Disappointing.
I received an arc of this book to provide an honest review. T.A. Grey has join my list of must read authors as such when I knew Take Me was going to be released I could not wait to read it. It was absolutely worth every minute. Take Me is a kickass, hot paranormal erotic read. It is the first book in The Untouchable series and is a great start to new series. When I was first introduced to Dominic Blackmoore I absolutely could not stand him. He was so arrogant, controlling and very demanding. I guess that’s what one would expect from an alpha male. He eventually grew on me and after a while I started seeing him in a different light. Dominic Blackmoore is an aristocratic vampire who is used to getting what he wants; as such when he first laid eyes on Felicity Shaw he knew she had to be his. Initially he had mistaken her for the woman he was supposed to mate with, however when the truth came out he was not willing to give her up. He wanted her and he was willing to go to any lengths to have her. Felicity Shaw was a female vampire from the wrong side of the tracks. She would never had access to Dominic’s world under normal circumstances. She became a part of his world when she was chosen to be the planner for his mating ceremony. When these two first met the chemistry between them was absolutely hot. They both wanted each other but there was one big obstacle, Dominic was being mated to another vampire named Juliana. This mating had been arranged and it was his ticket to being elected as president of the vampire council. I was interested to see how T. A would have dealt with complex situation and she surely delivered. There were times when I was really irritated by Felicity’s actions. She would act very smart at times but then she would go and do something absolutely foolish. There were also moments when she acted so weak and allowed Dominic to control her that I felt like bashing her over the head. She allowed Dominic to have too much control over her by allowing him see how weak she was when she was in his presence. The story drew me in from the very first page. It is a fast-paced, sizzling hot and very romantic read. The sex scenes were hot it’s advisable that this book be read in the privacy of one’s home. There were a few editorial issues this however did not detract from the story. I loved how the story ended, it was what I expected. It does not leave the reader hanging and wondering what the hell just happened. I can’t wait to read the rest of this series. I really enjoyed reading this book and I would recommend it.
Hmmmmm....where do I start? First off I read a review where the reader was upset b/c people were commenting on the lack of editing in the book and per her suggestion we should disregard and enjoy the book. I would agree if there were only one or two editing errors and grammatical mistakes, but in this book there are way too many to ignore. While the book may be a decent read, trying to get past those mistakes is a bit hard to do. It doesn't mean we can do better, it just means we PAY to read better...
Now, I've read many of T.A.'s books and have enjoyed them immensely! They are mysterious, action packed, sentimental, family oriented, sexy and hot as hell! This book wasn't any different. The story line was great, it was very descriptive and engaging. I'm just not sure why so many readers liked Felicity's character? I feel like she was a wimpy, doormat, which is really weird because she's a vampire! She can't make a decision to save her life and for some reason she is always apologizing to Dom....WTF! I know he's all alpha vampire, but don't make your supposed bruid feel like sh*t when you, yourself, played her from the start and then gave her some bullsh*t apology! Felicity forgave too damn easily and caves just as easily, honestly she makes me embarrassed to be a female. Again...she is a vampire...right?
I liked the intense connection between Dom and Felicity, but was disappointed in his choices. When he finally manned up...well that was a good turning point in the story. Then.....Felicity goes and ruins it all because....once again she can't make a decision to save her life...twit! I will say she did redeem herself quite a bit in my eyes at the end there...so maybe she's not all twit... ;o)
I truly enjoyed the last novel I read by Gray, so I was excited to read “Take Me,” and it did not disappoint! A novel of vampires, this Cinderella story has some twists and turns, starting with a terrible misunderstanding, and relies on the overcoming of several hurdles to obtain a HAE. There were only two parts of the book that bothered me, because in both cases, the actions seemed slightly out of character for Felicity Shaw and Dominic Blackmoore. I don’t what to give out any spoilers, but when you read the book, you’ll know what exactly which two actions I’m talking about. However, as both actions are key to the forward momentum of the book, I just shrugged my shoulders and thought, “People do weird things all the time in real life, why shouldn’t characters in a book?”
If you have read any of my reviews before, you know I like secondary characters, and Gray provides a rich cast with depth and personality – ones just begging for a story of their own. I’m hoping this isn’t a one off, and that there are many more books to follow with this unique world of shifters, vamps, and humans…especially the story of Felicity’s best friend (a human amongst a paranormal cast).
I liked Felicity for sticking to her guns, for upholding her own beliefs, and not bowing under pressure; even if it meant staying away from what she truly desired. Blackmoore is the product of a very different generation, a different class, with his own crosses to bear. I would recommend this book to readers who enjoy the paranormal, and pull for a HAE even if it’s down a difficult path.

I have read every book by T.a. Grey and she never fells to capture me and take me into the depths of her characters and their story. Paranormal, erotica, romance, action. She does it all, and she does it well. This is a great start to a new series, The Untouchables. The Blackmoores brothers in this book are already my new favorite alpha males. Vampires and werewolves. Oh my. Lusty and steamy love scenes that will leave you wanting more.
There is the rich, sexy, and old (years only) alpha vampire Dominic Blackmoore and Felicity Shaw, the very young and very poor vampire, who will do anything to get that chance at bettering herself and a job with the Blackmoores. Its on at first sight. And all the drama that comes with running for council, getting rid of ex-wife, finding new wife..... Don't miss out on a great read. It'll keep you up all night because you won't want to stop until you finish. And if you really like paranormal romance, I recommend the Bellum Sisters trilogy that's on sale now. Don't pass a chance to read the series. They are great.
wow what can I say, Ok so I finished the book and went straight to amazon to buy the next one and its not out yet:( lol. this is one story I feel in love with the characters. Felicity is a vamp and works hard for her money and is poor but she is happy and makes the most out of life. Dominic Is a wealthy vamp and running for office. He just recently ended his blood bond with another vamp. He is being set up with another wealthy vamp to blood bond with to help secure votes he needs to win office. Felicity shows up for a job offer to throw a party for the couple , Dom thinks its his new partner , when they get together the sparks fly and its like they belong together. when he finds out it isn't the right women he gets angry. He cant fight those feelings he felt when he was with her. she decides to work for them but tries to keep her distance. this book was so hot I couldn't put it down and with the other stories from his brothers I am excited to read those as well when they are out lol.. I have read all of her books and love her work .I am excited to say where is the next one.
This is the first book I've read in a while that's actually made me want to read the rest of the series. Take Me is filled with interesting, flawed and very believable characters, it's a shame about the editing. Dom is your typical brooding alpha male and he does it so well, Felicity is a strong character who's been making her own way for along time and for the most part I really liked her, I personally didn't like, well I can't say without spoiling the book but you'll know when you read it, I thought it was OTT, cringeworthy and embarrassing and not what she'd actually do, but then what do I know it just didn't sit right with me all I could think while reading this part is that there must have been a better way to get the same result. I loved the first 80% but then when Felicity has her idiot moment I started skimming, I must admit it took some of the shine off this book for me, despite this, or until this I was really enjoying it, another plus is that it's long enough for characters to really become established which is what makes the future books so appealing.
Well what can I say about this book? Once you get started its very hard to put the book down, it's literally like watching a movie unfold in your mind.. It's very romantic.. Watching the love between two people unfold is a pleasure to see.
Dominic is one hard vampire to say no to, he is used to have everything he has ever wanted. To watch him struggle over this one thing that temps him and yet try's to deny him at the same time is enjoy able.
Felicity is a girl who is used to working to get what she wants, she works very hard. After meeting Dominic she has never had these feelings, of wanting something she just can't have. As they come closer and being around each other they both know there is something they can't explain Dominic thinks it's just about getting her to bed. Felicity knows is much deeper..
Felicity would love nothing to spend the rest of her life with Dom, but sadly she just can't. As he is supposed to me mated with is bruid Julianna.
