[Menage Amour Erotic Alternative Paranormal Menage a Trois Romance, M/M/M, shape-shifters, vampires, HEA] Brad Hercules wanted James from the moment he met the huge lion shifter… But he was invisible to the man. Over the months of working for Ant, he heard the stories of James’s conquests and realized if he was ever going to have a shot with the man he needed to change into James’s type. Mainly, tight-bodied little twinks that know how to have fun. James wrote off Brad for the kind of fun he wants from the sexy little mouse shifter because he’s too innocent and James won’t risk breaking Brad’s heart. When Ramses shows up to take Brad’s old job when he gets promoted, everything changes. He wants Brad so bad he takes a job he’s overqualified for. When Ramses makes his play, James refuses to be left out and moves in on Brad. But who is the screechy bitch that shows up trying to ruin their lives? This book is written in first-person point of view. ** A Siren Erotic Romance
Intolerable. I think this is one of the worst Flynn books I've read so far.
Three first person narrators basically doomed the book. Add to that the fact that they changed narratives frequently - a chapter can have as many as two or three person narrating it - and you have a complete mess. At least Flynn tells you right off who's narrating the part with a name that precedes it; not so great is the fact that without it I probably won't be able to tell who is who.
I've hated on multiple first person narrators on L.A. Witt's Out of Focus before, and while this is less confusing, I don't think TELLING your reader who's narrating each section gives you many literary points.
Then there's the humongous cast for such a tiny book. 3 MCs, two from the first book of the midnight mating series, then some random bitches and coven leaders strutting around and boom goes everything.
No, let me rephrase that: it's not a huge cast. But it's one too big for such an unskilled author to tackle. Flynn can't seem to write any one setting with more than three people without it dissolving into a pool of melted butter.
I think this is reason enough for me to quit Flynn for the foreseeable future.
It has been a VERY long time since I read the ‘Mated at Midnight’ series so I thought I’d take a chance on this second novella in the ‘Unmated at Midnight’ follow-up by Joyee Flynn. (I’d read the first book a while ago)
This was cute with a whole lot of drama and shenanigans going on. Brad, James, and Ramses, are particularly hot together, although I’m unaccustomed to predator shifters being so overly emotional and bursting into tears. Took a little to wrap my brain around. Not so sure I succeeded *grins*
The second book in this series of sequels continues the story of Squeak And A Roar. Gavin the lion shifter and Ant the mouse shifter are back - and as much fun as in the first book. But the focus is on the new characters, and they are at least as hilarious together. The combination of a lion shifter, a mouse shifter, and a vampire who wants to feed on both of them is just too cute.
Brad, the mouse, adores James the lion -except for his many trysts and amorous adventures. They hurt him, and he tries desperately to lose weight (from eating to much cheese!)to make himself more attractive. But nothing seems to help and as soon as he decides to give up, Ramses the vampire appears and wants to stake a claim. Of course, that makes James realize that he might lose Brad - and he goes after him as well. Brad has no idea what to do, truly is as shy as a mouse, and can't believe two gorgeous men are after him. Much of the story is about his mates trying to boost Brad's self-confidence.
James is afraid of being hurt again, so he acts out and allows only one-night stands. He has a lot to learn, and thank God Ramses is there because he seems to be the only one able to get the stubborn lion to see sense.
Ramses has his own issues, but they are not in relationships. He is the glue between Brad and James, and when his own past comes by his house to haunt him, he will need all the support he can get. Luckily, James and Brad are able to help.
Like with the first book in this series, I have to warn you: if you're looking for a "realistic" story, with characters that behave in a normal "human" way, stay away. This is paranormal fiction and involves some pretty crazy species and, in this case, characters (mainly the villain). If, on the other hand, you're looking for a funny, light entertainment that is almost a parody, and if you enjoy hot menages between three men who can't keep their hands off the "cute submissive" and each other, then you will probably like this very entertaining book.
Again another wonderful concept wasted on this author. And that is before you get me started on Siren publishing a menage in a 1st person style. Where it pings back and forth between the three of them. The writing is at a Junior High level. It drew no real emotion from me. There is no character building and happy ever after happens in less than 2 days. And this told in a paranormal setting where there isn't a 'fated' mate. Are you kidding me! You have a lion shifter who is a slut and brags about it but changes his tune within hours, a rich successful vampire who is a wuss and cries at the drop of a hat (and these were the two large masculine alpha types) and a mouse shifter who has secretly loved the lion shifter for months but falls for the vampire within a day. I just kept thinking a 14 year old girl with raging hormones had to be writing this.
What has happened to Ms. Flynn and the wonderful stories she first started writing?
3 different men coming together and overcoming their problems to make it work.
Brad, timid mouse with self esteem issues and believes he's too fat.
Ramsess, vampire with money and a powerful brother, who wants to be loved for himself, not what people can get from him
James, lion who is afraid to believe in relationships after being played by the man who took his virginity over a bet
Most especially at the beginning James it NOT the favorite character of the book.. he comes across as a player of the market, flitting from one conquest to another but very upfront with his partners. He is one of those that you have to give just a bit of extra time to warm up to. Once the big boys decide they are not going to give up Brad for the other, they then work together to make it work and get into each other in the process as well. Threesomes are hard work but by the end they are making it work..
I loved this book and am loving this series. When I read the midnight matings series I always thought it would b good to find out what happens to other characters in the stories and am finding this series to b the answer.
This was just OK. The dialogue and mannerisms among the characters were too silly most of the time for me to see the shifters, particularly Brad, as a sexy heroes in an erotic read. It was a quick and easy read though, and cutely enjoyable at time
