Creed has been beating himself up for the hateful way he reacted to Bronx after an intoxicated kiss. However, it stirred something in him that should be brought to light. Creed must visit the raceway and stake his claim on not only the winnings but on the man he's come to desire.Bronx has been keeping his love a secret for three long years. The slip up kiss bears the same resemblance to the incident that caused him to lose his old best friend in New York. Will facing each other be a simple delivery of apologies or will they finally admit and succumb to their desires?
A rocker by heart, Chacelyn Pierce is constantly ear plugged with heavy tunes blaring to stir up the phantom personalities that swarm her mind. It’s no surprise that she enjoys writing and reading to satiate her appetite for the male antagonist in a story. Married to a blatant redhead and mothering a diva, there is never a dull moment in the house. As a native Texan, she doesn't personally own a horse but follows the unwritten southern rule of knowing how to ride one. When she’s not testing the emotional capacity of her characters, she works as a dog groomer.
2.75* Ok, I had trouble with the names for some reason, although Creed and Bronx are both very unique I kept getting mixed up who was who, but that could just be me. The story starts a month after a big blow up between the MC's and they haven't talked since. Creed was supposedly shocked that his BF Bronx is interested in him and after a kiss blows up at him and says some nasty stuff. We don't see any of that, Creed just sort of thinks about it, but no details. So after a month he goes to the drag race they usually go to together , but they don't talk there, I was a little surprised that the cousin knows or at least suspects the interest and some random chick notices in like 5 minutes but Creed was oblivious and no one else knows? Oh well, I just went with it, it's mostly just Creeds inner musings and thoughts on being turned on and interested in a guy for the first time and it being his best friend no less. They sort of talk, not too much since they have other things to do, and it has a very hopeful ending, all together it covers about a 24h period, I think. There is also very little actual drag racing in the story, and my dear Tailtiu, absolutely no drag queens, sorry! ;)
This friends-to-lovers story jumps right into the action, about a month after Creeds best friend Bronx kissed him. He totally flipped out at the time and said some nasty things and they have been avoiding each other ever since, especially at the drag race track where they both used to race on the weekends with their other friends. Creed lives with is aunt and her daughter, running the family automotive repair business, and his teenage niece has been hounding him to go to the track, as she’s only allowed to go with him. He’s had a month to think about what happened and if he’s honest, he admits he’s attracted to Bronx as well, but doesn’t know how to apologise for being an ass, until he’s convinced to go to the track, if for no other reason than to win some money.
Meanwhile Bronx is equally freaking out, because one of his friends turned on him back in New York when he revealed he was gay, and he’s not taking great pains to disprove this fact. When Creed does show up, Bronx makes a great show with a sexy blond (woman) to cover his tracks, leading to jealousy and finally the confrontation/reunion.
While this story takes place in small-town Texas, not exactly a bastion of sexual acceptance, I liked that the story in general didn’t fall into evil homophobic redneck territory. Creed’s young cousin, and even the blond with Bronx have clued in to what is happening between the men, without judgement. The story ends just at the start of their new relationship, but it was more about the men getting themselves back together, rather than local reaction to their potential pairing.
I liked Creed’s friends who desperately want the two to make up so things can go back to the way they are, and his young cousin, while a bit of a bratty teen, was a little more shrewd than most people probably gave her credit for being. There is nothing particularly wrong with the story, however I too am finding the friends-to-lovers trope a bit thick on the ground these days, and just not appealing like it might. Certainly not the author’s fault, and while I enjoyed reading the story, it wasn’t something that really stuck in my head, save for the rather unusual names of all of the men in the book. Bronx and Creed were kind of the normal ones.
Denial is a very strong force and some people can keep it up for years especially in an environment where fast cars and fast women are the norm. Such is the case with Creed, who denies that he's interested in more than a kiss once it happened but is too scared to admit it, and Bronx, who doesn’t deny he's extremely attracted to his best friend, but stops himself from acting on the need to get closer. He only manages up to a point, hence , the fateful kiss when he finally slips up.
Creed reacted badly to the kiss, chewing Bronx out and chasing him away. Now, a month later, he misses his best friend and racing buddy and regrets his actions, but has no clue how to fix it. Plus, he's afraid his apology will be rejected, and then what will he do? Several people have ideas and nudge him toward doing it, but in the end, it's him who will have to face the music. And when he does?
Bronx is devastated that he slipped up. He's lost his previous best friend like this, and he hates to think Creed is lost to him forever. And when Creed comes up to him after the long silence, he doesn't want to let himself hope for too much. Luckily, his pessimism and fears are totally unfounded.
If you like stories set against the background of cars and racing, if you enjoy reading about men who are trying to hide from their feelings, and if you're looking for a light, fun read with some hot first-time man-on-man action, then you will probably like this story.

REVVED is a super awesome MM romance with a unique setting. I can't wait to read the next installment in this series!
Creed shared an explosive kiss with his best friend, Bronx, and then ran from him. Bronx has loved his best friend from afar for three years culminating in that kiss but when Creed pulled away from their friendship, his worst fears were realized. Now it's up to Creed to show Bronx he wants more than friendship.
This is a stellar romance because it combines an already developed emotional relationship with a new sexual one. Creed and Bronx have been best friends and confidantes for three years and now their relationship changes to include sexual intimacy and it's delicious. I love the honesty between the two men and enjoyed their sexy and emotional romance. Though a short novella, the character development is well done and shows the writer's talent to do much in so few pages.
The only bad thing about REVVED is I have to wait for book two in the Drag and Drift series! Any MM romance fan should read and adore this novella as I did.
Loved this quick read for both my professional and personal lives. The premise of this book would come as no surprise to our mothers who taught us to say Thank You for what others do for us and that the seeds we sowed would become the results we get. We need reminding from time to time. This book is a quick reminder! Win them over. Blow them away. Keep them revved.
