Recently widowed, Dolly Summers steps in to take her husband’s position in the family business. When her best friend, Sophia is killed, Dolly assumes guardianship of a rebellious teenage daughter An accident connects Dolly with a stranger, Douglas Martin, and her emotions go awry. Is it possible? Could he really be Robert McGoodall, the man Dolly first loved who supposedly died twenty-eight years ago on his way to propose? Will Amanda’s growing rebellion thwart Dolly’s second chance at true love?
Second Time Around is a sweet story of second chances. Dolly Summers’ life experiences throughout the story are ones that people have every day, making this such a realistic story to read.
After the death of her husband, Dolly is forced to take over his role in the family business, handle to family drama that comes with being a mother of three, and then upon the death of a friend, becomes guardian of a teenage girl Amanda.
When a ghost from her past comes back in the form of a man with a different name, she struggles to come to terms with it. I won’t give too much away, but it’s a wonderful story of second chances.
I was saddened when it ended, making me wonder what would happen in the character’s lives next. Ingram has a way with words that will have you teary-eyed and laughing out loud. I greatly enjoyed this read and would recommend this book to anyone that wants to read a very well done, love story.
