Newly single Cassidy Quinn is thrilled to be a contestant on the new reality dating show The One. But her excitement turns to horror when the gorgeous bachelor turns out to be her ex-boyfriend. Seeing Brad again makes Cassidy realize she might not be as "over him" as she thought-and then she meets hunky cameraman Evan Burke. After watching his brother lose his wife in a tragic accident, Evan vows never to fall in love. But following Cassidy around as her personal cameraman makes him question his decision, and resisting her gets harder with every sunbathing, bikini-wearing day. Cassidy and Evan begin a forbidden affair while her ex-boyfriend tries to win her heart back one groping, awkward moment at a time. If Cassidy can manage to stop falling off horses (literally), stop falling onto her ex-boyfriend, the bachelor (yes, literally), and stop falling in love with backstage playboy Evan, she might still make it through the show without becoming a tabloid sensation. But soon Cassidy must choose between the ex who broke her heart and the cameraman who might never love her back. For Cassidy, this reality show just got real.

A MUST read for the chick lover. Such a fabulous plot with a "sign of the times" story line. Newly single Cassidy Quinn is thrilled to be a contestant on the new reality dating show “The One”. For Cassidy, she sees it as out of the box, new, exciting, and not at all her old self. For a while she has been single and getting over a breakup, where her ex moved to California. When the reveal comes that the gorgeous bachelor is her ex-boyfriend, Brad, Cass is wondering what her next move will be. With Brad in the picture, Cassidy thinks maybe, just maybe, she might not be over him. From the start she is smitten with her personal camera man, Evan Burke. He comes with baggage too. Evan is just as smitten with Cassidy as he follows her and catches her each time she falls. She does fall a lot too! I said from the beginning I was Team Klutz. Cassidy tortures Evan by wearing a hot little bikini when he is to follow her around and film.
The funniest were the other contestants and the roommate from hell. How can Cassidy get stuck with the most conceited, nasty, conniving person on the set? Well I for one wanted to have a massive smack down with Zoe. Whenever she could, she would make the nastiest remarks, but Cassidy was so cool and just shot back an insult. The exchanges between them were great! No spoilers here, I will say I LOVED this book. Cassidy was adorable and when you are a few pages in, you just love her to death. I don’t think there was ever a question as to the perfect man, I know it was Evan.
Hilarious! Perfect chick lit book filled with surprises!
Cassidy goes on a reality dating show to finally get over her ex-boyfriend - only to discover her ex IS the bachelor. Cassidy's story is fresh and very funny. Cassidy herself is adorable! Her ex...well...just read it! :)
Falling for You was such a fun book. It captured my attention from the first page and I was on the edge of my seat gripped with panic that everything I hoped for would come crumbling down for one my favorite characters! Thrown in with my panic were laugh out loud moments and some very yummy eyebrow raises that I wish were coming my way.
Cassidy needs some fun in her life so her sister signs her up for a reality dating show. Even though Cassidy isn't fond of the idea she decides to go along with the whole idea thinking that she might find love, but the overall experience might be a lot of fun. That is until she meets the bachelor, who just so happens to be her ex who dumped her six months ago on the sidewalk. Cassidy has no choice but to go through with the competition since she signed several contracts and fears what will happen if she drops out. What she doesn't count on is falling head over heels literally for the hunky cameraman assigned to follow her around. This throws a huge wrench in the game for both of them since they both have legal problems staring down at them if their secret is found out not to mention that the bachelor has decided her wants Cassidy back.
Like I said this book was a lot of fun and totally hilarious. I loved that Cassidy was klutsy, it made her more down to Earth and very likeable. She was definitely one of the funnest characters I have ever read before and I loved that she didn't take anything from anybody. Evan oh my Evan, he was awesome. I loved how he was with Cassidy and his inner comments whole filming were hilarious! I laughed so hard at so many of his comments that I think I even snorted. He had a few obstacles to overcome as well and those obstacles totally tore at my heart. I cheered when he revealed his true feelings! These two together were awesome and I totally rooted for them throughout the book. I did get a little frustrated at times especially the times when Brad, her ex, was in the picture. I kept screaming at Cassidy to run and to kick him! I can understand that she had lingering feelings but I still didn't like their moments. Evan was my man and I totally stuck by his side!
I think the author did a wonderful job at capturing the whole reality show world. She showed the fun side and the cast of characters that we all know belong to these shows. We had the mean girl, the sweet friend, the crazy producer, and a host who over does everything. I was really impressed with how she created the show and I am chomping at the bit to see what she has in store with the sequel Stuck on You!
Have you ever watched the Bachelor or a similar TV show and wondered what went on behind the scenes? Well, I sure have. And this book definitely addressed my curiosity to the extreme! Yes, all the drama is totally real!! At least in Falling For You it sure was. A wonderful glimpse into the behind-the-scenes story of a reality dating show. I love this stuff!! And I think the cover is totally perfect and definitely made me want to read this book even more!
The story starts off with Cassidy reluctantly agreeing to join a TV dating show after her sister, unbeknownst to her, entered her in the running, and she just happened to be chosen. After a recent tough break-up, Cassidy figures "What the heck?" and agrees to go on the show. And surprise, surprise... guess who the eligible bachelor turns out to be?! What is Cassidy to do now?
Falling For You is a fun, sweet read. The story is told from Cassidy's POV, as well as Evan, her cameraman. It flip-flops between the two, though most of the time it's Cassidy's perspective. I liked getting to see both sides of the relationship with the alternating viewpoints. I really enjoyed this story, and I thought the ending was great. I've heard that there's a second in this series coming out, and I think that's wonderful! I would love to continue on with Cassidy's story. And the ending, without giving too much away, definitely begs for a Book #2! :)
The only thing in this book I think some may have a problem with is the insta-love aspect of it. I'm not a huge fan of insta-love myself, so it tends to irk me a bit. This one wasn't too, too bad... but it was still definitely there. I tend to not enjoy "romance" novels as much as "chick lit"... and honestly, that may be why. The whole falling-passionately-in-love-with-each-other-and-can't-stand-a-second-apart thing tends to disinterest me. But this one had a nice balance between the two and wasn't overly "romance" to the point that I was uninterested. I think the story is a delight and lovers of chick lit and contemporary romance are sure to enjoy it!
Real life horror moment....being on a dating show only to find out the "hot date" is your ex boyfriend who broke your heart. Talk about being between a rock and a hard place. However this is exactly where Cassidy find herself add to that mix one seriously hot camara man who turns your blood to fire and what do you get a sweet and delicious romantic comedy read.
This book was fun and sexy. I loved the emotion that went into this one. I mean put yourself in Cassidy's shoes for a minute if she grabs the hot camera man boy oh boy that could be so much fun but she could also end up having more attention and exposure than she asked for but if she takes the devilishly nasty ex that nearly destroyed her will her heart be intact this time?
Decisions, decisions but hear me when I tell you that is the very reason why this book was so much fun to read. If you need something to spice you your weekend this is the one!
I really, really wanted to like this one, but I just couldn't. Characters did a lot of ridiculous bouncing back and forth (I [virtually instantly, of course] love Evan. No wait, I might still have feelings for Brad. No, I could never want to kiss Brad again--ugh. Oh, wait, somehow his tongue got stuck in my mouth. Wait, why is Even so upset? He's so unreasonable!) I had to force myself to finish it, mostly because I didn't want to get too behind on my Goodreads challenge....
Are you a fan of Reality TV shows? Are you addicted to the dating reality shows The Bachelor and The Bachelorette? If you are a fan (even if you are a secret closet fan ... shhh ... I won't tell anyone!), then author Heather Thurmeier's first book in the Reality TV Trilogy, Falling for You is a must read!
It has been six months since twenty-eight year old New York banquet manager Cassidy Quinn's ex-boyfriend Brad trampled her heart and left New York for California. So when her meddling little sister Keira signed her up to be a contestant on the new reality dating show, The One, she was ready for a new adventure. Cassidy may have been ready to find love, but she didn't count on the Bachelor being her ex-boyfriend Brad! And if that isn't bad enough, Cassidy is attracted to her personal cameraman, Evan Burke, who is professionally off-limits.
Evan has witnessed his brother tragically losing his wife, and has vowed never to fall in love. But when he sees Cassidy, the attraction is mutual even though he tries to resist her charms.
Evan and Cassidy engage in a forbidden behind the scenes affair, but things get complicated when Brad throws his hat in the ring and tries to win back Cassidy's heart. What's a girl to do when she's falling in love and has two men vying for her attention?
Falling for You is a sassy behind the scenes look into the Reality TV dating shows. Written in the third person narrative, author Heather Thurmeier weaves a humorous tale of finding love on a Reality TV dating show with a mixture of drama, showmance and enough twists and turns that keeps the reader thoroughly entertained. This fast-paced story will keep you in stitches as Cassidy stumbles her way through the challenges on and off the show in order to find her Mr. Right. If you are a fan of reality dating shows, this story will simply draw you in just like the TV shows do!
The author transports the reader into the world of reality dating shows with an eclectic cast of characters who are realistic, flawed and just plain fun to get to know. Cassidy is a down-to-earth, klutzy but lovable girl who you can't help but embrace. Try stepping into her shoes and see how hard it is to decide which man you would choose to give your heart to! Evan is simply irresistible, emotional baggage and all! This hunky man had my vote, it was so much fun following how their attraction unfolds behind the scenes. Then there is Cassidy's ex-boyfriend and Bachelor, Brad. I was not a fan of this guy, he's a player that really isn't into finding true love, and I found myself frowning at his feeble attempts to win back Cassidy's heart. I would be remiss if I didn't mention the catty contestant Zoe. You know that every reality dating show has one (or more) of these types of women as a contestant, and I have to admit that I was thoroughly entertained by her antics. With a great cast of characters; quirky dialogue and interactions; and an entertaining romantic comedy storyline, Falling for You is one heck of fun read that will leave you satisfied!
Falling for You is the first book in the Reality TV Trilogy. This story will draw you and get you hooked on the drama just like the reality TV dating shows do. It will also keep you in suspense waiting to see what will happen in the next two books in the series!

Heather Thurmeier delves into a charming and basically adorable romantic trilogy with book No. 1, Falling for You (read an excerpt here).
In Falling for You, our heroine Cassidy Quinn goes on the new reality TV show, The One, after her sister signs her up. Wanting an adventure, and hoping to end the dating dry-spell she has been under since breaking up with her boyfriend, Brad, she figures why not? Finding love on reality TV could happen, right?
Imagine her surprise when she finds the bachelor who's love she must try to win his none other than her ex, Brad. Double that surprise when she finds herself dealing with feelings for one person she is explicitly prohibited from romancing, namely her personal videographer, Evan.
When Cassidy finds herself brought back week after week to date the man who previously broke her heart she ends up finding it harder than she imagined to keep her hands off the hunky cameraman. With a lot at stake should she break the rules, she must decide whether to follow her heart and libido or her mind.
This was a super cute, fast read. As a recovering fan of the Bachelor and Bachelorette franchise (they lost me after Brad's season -- I was too invested), I am a total sucker for books set on dating shows. I read Jane Millionaire a few years ago and most recently Unscripted, and this one more than measured up to the others.
The main character was interesting. Though a good protagonist you could cheer for, she had plenty of flaws. At her heart, though, she is a good sort of person, and someone I could see myself grabbing a slice of pizza with in her home city of NYC. Incidentally, pineapple is my favorite pizza topping, so I'm sure we'd have no trouble splitting a pie.
As for Evan, he was super adorable. With even more baggage than her, he had just enough of a reformed bad boy mixed with the sensitive outdoors man to make him totally irresistible to a sucker like me. I was crushing on this boy big time, and dreamed pleasant dreams of the man behind the camera the night after reading the book.
Add in the drama that comes from a reality dating show and a few bitches for the heroine to battle, and this story flew fast. Written with deep third person, I found myself really getting into the main characters' heads.
I did find the story a little predictable, but frankly, after reading hundreds of romance novels, I can't remember the last time I was truly surprised by a book's twist. However, this story's characters were so enjoyable and their circumstances so entertaining, you have zero complaints coming from me. I liked knowing those two crazy kids were going to work it out in the end. This happily ever after left me satisfied, while still giving some room for my imagination.
This was a cozy and enjoyable way to spend an evening, and I am definitely excited to see Cassidy and Evan make a cameo in book 2.
My Review: I'll admit, I don't even watch most of the reality shows on TV and have never been drawn to the dating ones, but the premise of this book sounded really intriguing so I snatched it up when offered the opportunity. I'm glad I did. This book was a lot of fun.
Cassidy was entered to join a reality dating show by her sister. She's not looking for love after her ex abandoned her in NYC for the waves of California, but she figures it will be an adventure so she goes along with it. You can imagine her surprise when her ex is the bachelor featured on the show. But no worries there, they've done the whole dating thing and he dumped her. She knows neither one of them will be tempted again.
But who is tempting her is her personal cameraman, Evan. Unfortunately, they've both signed a non-fraternization contract which says they absolutely are NOT allowed to become in any way romantically involved.
This book was just pure entertainment. I loved Cassidy and how clutzy she was. Every time the camera came on, she was getting hurt somehow. I also really loved Evan's sense of humor on the other side of the camera. We got to hear a lot of his chuckles, when he's not offering help or trying to save Cassidy from one catastrophe or other.
I liked the way that the show was set up, with cameras and mikes virtually everywhere. It made private time between these two a valuable commodity. I also really enjoyed their interview room segments. Those moments seemed like such honest moments between the two even when they were playing it for the show. I loved the emotion that came through there.
My only complaint about the book was Cassidy's seemingly change in feelings toward Brad, her ex, at the end. I didn't understand. I could understand if it was as simple as not wanting to hurt him since they had cared about each other at one point in time. I just felt it went a bit too far with a teasing of feelings from her and that did affect my overall rating on the book. Without that, this would have easily been an "A" rated book.
But I still had great fun reading it. Immediately when I finished it, I got online and bought the second book which will follow Paige, Cassidy's friend from the show. It looks like that book is going to be more of an adventure-style race and I LOVE those shows. I'm really looking forward to reading it.
This was my first Heather Thurmeier read, but certainly won't be my last. I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED Falling For You, the first book in her Reality TV Series. Falling for You is a fabulous read, especially for all of my Bachelor lovers out there.
Our Heroine, Cassidy, was funny, quirky and she liked to eat pizza, she was average and that's what I loved about her. She could have been your best friend and that is one quality I like in my heroines, when they are just...REAL! Cassidy had quite the choice to make, which to me didn't feel like that much of a choice once she met Evan. *Mega Swoon*
Evan was just stinkin adorable. The funny thing is, after all those years of watching The Bachelor/Bachlorette, I always wondered if anything went on between cameramen and the women they film. I mean, one man and ALL those women...Some of them have to get lonely at night!! hee hee!
Heather had me saying "awwww" from the moment that Cassidy and Evan met. I honestly was sitting on edge until they FINALLY kissed...OMG...I love when that happens. When I am so engrossed in a romance that I am literally in the "They better kiss soon or I am going to die" zone.
The secondary characters, which I know will be featured in the rest of the series, were intriguing and just plain old FUN! Zoe...such a bitch...but I loved her!! Every Reality Show needs a villain and that was Zoe, the girl we all love to hate!! I hope that Heather will give her a HEA one of these days.
And Paige, sweet little Paige. I am thrilled that she is the heroine of Stuck on You, the second book in the Reality TV series, which is available NOW!!
Falling for you is a Highly Recommended Tasty Read...Ladies, Give this one a chance...You wont be sorry!
I received a copy of Falling For You by Heather Thurmeier in exchange for an honest review.
Falling For You stars the newly single, Cassidy Quinn, who has just been chosen to appear on a new reality dating show called, The One. Expecting to find Prince Charming and fall madly in love, Cassidy is less than thrilled when she sees that Brad, her ex-boyfriend, happens to be the bachelor. Seeing him brings back old feelings and she starts to wonder if she is over him like she thought she was. But, then she meets Evan, the camera man who is in charge of documenting her life for the show, and he begins tugging at her heart strings. But, with the show going on, and her Brad and Evan vying for her attention, what is a girl to do?
I thought this book was so cute. Light and fun, this book is definitely a quick read and very, very enjoyable. I found myself laughing out loud on numerous occasions as Cassidy stumbles her way through the show, and even more so as she tries to juggle her heart and both men. I also really enjoyed the romantic scenes between Cassidy and the two men. Overall, this is a great read that is well written with very believable and quirky characters. Also, the ending will definitely keep you on your toes. If you are a fan of love stories, or of reality TV, this is the book for you.
First bk in a series...Cassidy unsuspectingly gets cast as a contestant in a "bachelor" type reality TV show (courtesy of her sister). The bachelor (SURPRISE!) ends up being Cassidy's ex, Brad. No biggie though...Cassidy already has her eye on hot camera man, Evan, who's assigned to follow her every moment. Not a bad gig for either of these two who are lusting after each other from the get go. Naturally there's lot of bitchie cat fighting amongst the competitive female contestants. And speaking of fighting, Evan and Cassie are trying to fight the hots for each other so as not to violate the shows rules about no hanky panky between the contestants and the employees. Bachelor Brad decides maybe he dumped Cassie too soon while they were dating and now he’s trying to woo her back. Is all this making Evan insanely jealous? Yep, you guessed it. A few grins, a little mystery, some drama, a lot of back stabbing with a big dramatic ending and a cute HEA.
To continue the fun Bk 2 features Cassidy’s friend Paige as the star on a treasure hunting reality show.
Don’t you wish you knew what really went on behind-the-scenes of reality TV? Heather Thurmeier gives us a close-up in her rollicking new romance Falling for You.
I identified immediately with Cassidy, who is almost as accident prone as I am. Despite being one of the beautiful ‘babes’ picked to appear on an online dating show, Cassidy is down-to-earth, charming, and always falling right into trouble. . . or the strong arms of her totally off-limits cameraman.
Ms. Thurmeier kept the sexual and emotional tension high as Cassidy and Evan try to play by the rules and deny their attraction. Who will be the big winner of ‘The One?’ I didn’t know how this love triangle in the spotlight was going to play out until the very end.
You’ll find lots of laughs and lots of on and off-screen action in this fun ‘reality’ romance!
Note: I was lucky enough to receive a free advance copy of this book as a professional courtesy.
I'll admit it - I love reality TV. Although, I haven't watched anything but Big Brother in recent years. After reading this, I know why I don't watch shows like The Bachelor, where the idea is to "meet the man of your dreams." I found the concept degrading and frankly, gross. BUT, that doesn't mean I don't like a good book about it :)
I have gotten away from reading true Chick Lit as I explore other genres. Falling for You by Heather Thurmeier was my leap back into it. I really enjoyed it. I felt like I was behind the scenes at a reality show. The characters were well formed. However, I found it hard to believe that Cassidy ever would have dated someone like Brad. I would have liked to know a little bit more about him.
As I approached the end, without giving spoilers, I was prepared to go onto Twitter and beg for a sequel. I found out there is one! Stuck on You has been added to my TO READ list!
Wonderful book, I recommend it to chick lit readers!
An excellent read for a reality show addict like me! Loved the premise of a "bachelor" type show and what happens behind the scenes. Heather Thurmeier does a great job at showing how love can happen in unexpected conditions.
I connected with Cassidy, the heroine, immediatly because she is such a klutz. And of course it's all caught on camera.
The hero, Evan, gets to follow his lucky lady around all day and night. This adds nice tension when he has to film her kissing the bachelor. Evan's cute little remarks, winks and smiles behind the camera tugged at my heart.
Even the secondary characters are fun to read. There's a sweet friend and a "bitch" on the side.
After finishing the book, that feeling of "Aw, it's over" overwhelmed me. When this happens, I know I've read a great story!
Bravo, Heather T. Great novel for those "bachelor" fans out there.
Heather Thurmeier's voice is distinctively witty, lough-out-loud funny, and sexy. Falling for You is the perfect romance novel for anyone who's ever found herself addicted to reality TV shows like The Bachelor...
Cassidy is ready to find love with the bachelor on the show, until he turns out to be her ex (uh-oh) and then the camera-man assigned to follow her around and film her is too lust-worthy to try and pretend he's not there. I loved getting an inside look at what goes on behind-the-scenes on a reality show...Ms. Thurmeier shows us exactly what ends up on the cutting room floor -- forbidden romance, anyone? Yes, please!
5 stars and highly recommended -- Heather Thurmeier's contemporary romances are an auto-buy for me.
Great read!! Really loved it!!!!! I had the privilege of reading book two in this series first and I was dying to read book one and find out how it all started. It did not disappoint at all!
I watch my fair share of reality TV, so it's always interesting to get a behind the scenes look, even if it is a fictional story. I've never really been a fan of finding love type reality shows like The Bachelor, but this book definitely put a huge wrench in the whole premise of one!! Makes me wonder if stuff like this ever does happen in real reality shows!!
Heather does a great job getting the reader to love her characters, and dislike her protagonists....though you do feel some sympathy. Knowing what I already know about book 2, this is a great lead into it. And I am super excited for book 3!
I don't watch much reality TV--only Ink Master and a few car shows, but I love reading about these shows. I can't compare this to the Bachelor cause I haven't seen it, but this was neat. It had a unique twist too.
Cassidy doesn't fall for the "bachelor", but a cameraman! Her very own cameraman who follows her around. And the man she's "dating" on national TV is her ex-boyfriend! I loved this. I also loved the look into "behind the scenes", what it's probably like: wearing voice boxes, cameras in the bedroom, cameramen walking backwards.
Heather has done it again! I loved this book and can't wait to read more of her new releases! One of my favorite reality shows is the Bachelor and this book is about a reality program called The One! Poor Cassy is this really sweet girl who bless her heart is accident prone! She finds out the mystery bachelor is really her ex! But sparks fly with her cameraman as well which happens to be completely against the rules! Cassy trying to figure out her feeling for both Brad and Evan made this book extremely hard to put down!
Let's sum this book up: - It was a BIG UGH! - Waste of my "precious" reading time. - I skimmed from 40% to 90% and really missed nothing because everything was summed up in the last 10%. - I had hopes for this book, but it was a DUD.
Falling for You was a very cute, light, sexy read. The perfect cure for a rainy afternoon, a stressful day at work or for whenever you just want to escape into a book. Definitely recommend to lovers of The Bachelor and readers of light, humorous romance.
The story line was cute and I enjoyed reading the book, but the book needed to be proofed better prior to publishing...the errors were very distracting.
Cassidy Quinn is ready for a new adventure after getting dumped by her boyfriend six months ago. When her sister signs her up for a new reality dating show she jumps in only to find herself faced with her ex, Brad, as the bachelor. Talk about drama. If that wasn’t enough, Cassidy is assigned her very own cameraman to follow her around. And that cameraman just happens to be drop dead sexy. Evan Burke thought that this job would be easy. Until he met Cassidy.
Evan is determined to keep from falling in love with any woman after his brother lost his wife. But when meets Cassidy he is immediately blown away by her. He can’t deny that she’s attractive and as he gets to know her he finds himself falling for her. And she’s falling for him. The only problem is that they aren’t allowed.
Of course that doesn’t stop them. As time goes by Cassidy is sure that it’s Evan she wants and not Brad but because of the show she is obligated to play the game until she is sent home. But it seems that Brad wants another chance and she finds herself staying week after week. Evan is forced to watch Cassidy go on dates with Brad and it takes everything to keep himself in check and not give himself away.
As things get more intense with Evan, things start to get more confusing with Brad for Cassidy. Plus it seems that Evan and Cassidy aren’t doing a good job keeping a lid on their affair. In the end Cassidy knows who she wants, its just a matter of Evan wanting her.
Favorite Quote
“Last names are highly overrated. But it’s Burke. Evan Burke.” “Are you related to Bond, James Bond?” She couldn’t help but smile. “We’re only related by our amazing ability to seduce unsuspecting women into our beds.” He grinned. “It’s a superpower, really. We should come with a warning label.”
Overall
If you love those dating reality shows I think you’ll really enjoy reading Falling For You. It made me laugh out loud, it made my heart flutter and it made my breath catch. The banter between Evan and Cassidy is hilarious. No wonder she fell for him, I was giggling like a schoolgirl. And then there were some button flying in the bedroom!
I think Heather Thurmeier did a great job making Cassidy come across as real. The way Cassidy dealt with her emotions is something that every girl would do. She was able to grow as the story progressed from a woman who just going through the motions of life to living life and falling in love. Oh, and Evan. Evan is just sexy. And funny.
There are going to be two more books in this Reality TV Series and the next book involves Cassidy’s friend Paige and Zoe, the mean girl. So sign me up for the next book!
This is the first book in the Reality TV Trilogy and the first book I’ve read by Heather Thurmeier. I must admit that I have mixed feelings regarding this book. I liked it up until the end.
I get Evan and I completely adore him. Cassidy is a toss up. Sometimes I like her and feel for her, other times, I can’t stand her and just wish she would go away. But she’s the heroine of the book so she can’t do that. Brad, Cassidy’s ex-boyfriend is an ALL around jerk, to put it mildly.
Cassidy has no intention on appearing on a reality tv dating show. Her older sister Keira filled out all the paperwork and initially submitted it without Cassidy knowing about it. After Cassidy found out of course, she was furious, but once she got accepted to appear on the show, she looked at it as her chance to have an adventure.
Cassidy and Evan are the first to meet and the attraction is immediate. Cassidy thinks that if the cameraman is that hot, the bachelor has to be off the charts. Evan for his part is attracted to Cassidy, but knows that he is bound by his work contract that he can not engage in any type of relationship with her. Evan is strictly there to work and make money.
When Cassidy suddenly comes face to face with Brad during her first challenge, you would think that she would have the good sense to say, “okay this can’t happen” and ask to leave the show. But for whatever unimaginable reason, she doesn’t.
One of the things I love about Cassidy is that she’s a klutz. I’m not laughing at her, I’m laughing with her. Okay, so she’s not really laughing because she’s getting embarrassed on national tv, but she handles it really well. Cassidy’s klutziness is also one of the reasons Evan falls for her even though doing so goes against his personal wishes and professional obligations. While their chemistry is hot, they have to keep their attraction and relationship a secret so that they don’t get stuck with a crazy lawsuit for breaching their contracts with show.
What I didn’t like about the book was the way their secret relationship came out. I think it could have come out a little better than it did. I also didn’t care for the Epilogue. While it sets up the next book in the series, I wish it would have told more of the story of what happened to Cassidy and Evan after the show was over.
Love is the risk worth taking and it finds us in the most unusual places. These were the lessons that Evan Burke and Cassidy Quinn learned. Neither of them expects love. For him, being a cameraman on the show was just a job. For her, being a participant was an adventure in the unknown.
Falling For You is such a sweet, funny character driven story. All the characters may not be lovable, but I thought they were great, from the main cast to the smallest part. Each of them is portrayed realistically. They are complex, but what is the most important, they feel alive and real. All of them, even the villains, are so full of personality and charm. But let’s focus on our two main characters. They have some issues, but they are not tortured and these issues are neither deep, nor dark. The heroine, Cassidy Quinn, has her flaws, but she is a strong, independent woman, confused in her feelings toward Evan, and also toward Brad. She is very clumsy, and she constantly in need either medical help or someone to watch over her. Her flaws, clumsiness and the fact that she is torn (between her old boyfriend, the potential of the new love and the contract that she signed to participate in the show) makes her great and realistic and very, very charming.
Evan, well he is also great. What I especially loved about him is not just the character per se (I found him great) but the situation when “Mr. I’ll never fall in love” was slapped in the face by love. How I enjoyed that. I love the moment when he realized that the love is a much greater thing that anything else in the world and the only thing he can do is to surrender to it.
Other elements that are done really well are the descriptions of the atmosphere and the scenery. The setting of the story is a reality show, but the focus is not so much on what one can see on TV, as it is more on behind the scenes part. The dynamic between the contestants is captured so well I could feel all their emotions (jealousy, envy, sadness, disappointment and closeness). I am grateful to the author for providing me access behind the scenes of reality TV, because she did it so well.
This story has one of the greatest endings I’ve read. I was swept away when I read it.
Falling For You is the first book in the Reality TV Romances series. The second book is already out now and I cannot wait to read it. I highly recommend this one.
