A romantic drama/comedy about two female office workers. Initially easy-going Hotei is not pleased when uptight and successful Ebisu is transferred to her branch, and antagonism and bullying result. I love this manga. I have been reading it for several moments of my life. And every time I reread I am reminded of how much I love this story.
In short, this is a story of a woman who disliked another woman and thought she hated her because of the strange feelings she provoked.
Over time Hotei begins to question her "hatred" for Ebisu.
Hotei starts helping Ebisu on take care of her niece and I love those moments where the child is super cute and there is this feeling of family.
When Hana asks Hotei if she loves her aunt too, Hotei begins to wonder if she really isn't in love with Ebisu.
Anyway ... I wish there were more lesbian manga with families where the couple had a child together.
This is an old manga from 2010 and so far I haven't found another where the characters take care of a child together (besides Ohana holoholo but this was so fucked up).
Oh well ...

This manga is definitely josei - not a schoolgirl to be seen. Instead, a selfish and initially unlikeable officer worker feels strongly resentful of a successful and hardworking newcomer, especially when the new girl refuses to play around in the day but also refuses to stay a minute after five. Hotei begins to actively bully her new rival, who remains remote and cold.

As Hotei stumbles on Ebisu-san's background, she begins to develop strong feelings for her, but it is difficult to work out if they are in love when they barely even manage friendship. Hotei needs to show courage to bring her relationship, and her desired future, about.

I really liked this: the characters and their interactions seemed remarkably real, and although Hotei was dreadful at first, she became more sympathetic. I also really loved the omake set in the future, in which Hotei's niece explains she has three mothers - her birth mother, Hotei, and Ebisu-san, Hotei's special friend.

4 stars. I wasn’t so sure about this one in the beginning I’m not gonna lie. Hotei was so unpleasant and had this one sided hatred for Ebisu and was really trying to make her work life miserable. Come to find out later Ebisu had no idea that Hotei was even being mean to her. LOL. As this went on though it got really, really sweet and I ended up really loving it and the characters by the end. Ebisu and Hotei start to bond when Hotei finds out that Ebisu is taking care of her young niece. It was adorable watching them both let their guards down around each other. They had really good chemistry. I wish the issue with Ebisu’s sister had some closure but it also felt real and honest. The ending is unconventional and we don’t even get a confirmation that Ebisu and Hotei are even dating but the start of something is definitely there. I really enjoyed this and I was surprised how wonderful it turned out being. I just wish there was another volume but it’s still a great read.

"Is this love or hate?"

This manga is about Ebisu-san, who worked at the Headquarters of a famous company, that moved to a small sub-branch as a normal worker. Her 'tutor' is Hotei, who had previously met Ebisu on her trip to the headquarters. Hotei may seem nice, but sometimes her hidden side comes out, bu she eventually calms down and befriends Ebisu, mostly because of Hana-chan; Ebisu's niece who she takes care of. It becomes obvious that Ebisu has something else which she can't stay overtime for and Hana-chan was that.

Hotei tends to embarass herself both when she still was jealous of Ebisu and after. From the very start of chapter 2, Hotei seems to change. She was in denial for a while, but eventually she takes it upon herself to do what she likes.

Ebisu is mysterious, but also tempered and practical, she also acts like a grown up and doesn't do the blame game or shouting.

I loved Hana's character. There was even a short extra on her. The innocence of children: "Do you?" Sometimes things are so simple, but adults don't understand, it's children that do. Hana-chan is used as an intermediary for their interactions in the story. Hana's childminding back story was really interesting as was the twist with the mother.

Things I learned:
They have indoor sandals for work!

"the more she shines, the messier things get"- the importance of gender and age in Japan

Things I liked:

Hotei calling Ebisu 'Shrimp mayo'

Thatlove was compared to poison; the paneling was pretty clever.

That consent was addressed.

Things that are always the same:

peer pressure! When are characters going to learn not to say things simple for their friends, where the people concerned can hear?

In conclusion:

Love makes you selflesss. It makes you need to be needed. Some good decisions were taken throughout the short story. Hotei and Ebisu seem to care for each other and understand one another even after a shot time. They don't leave us with doubts that they would be stable together. Even if Hotei herself has doubts.

The first thing that caught my attention was that the art of the manga was a little too messy and then that the characters didn't look the age that they have (supposed to be adult women but they looked like they were teenage girls) after that first bad impression. I realized that the manga has that messy look but work it well also the art become more and more enjoyable with the time.
It was a good story... not like all the other things I read lately but was quiet good and enjoyable. The final was unexpected but a good one.
The only thing that bugged me was that there isn't a kiss, but that doesn't matter compared with the story.
