Resolution Island is a safe haven for Anika Deumer.A chance to fulfill dreams, find her place in the world, and a new life for her and young son, Kye. But her dreams of a future are shattered when her son's security is challenged, and the rich and privileged Texan, Nate, sails into the bay. Now Ani must not only fight for her son, but also a growing attraction she has to the one type of man she loathes. Nate Hollingsworth is on a mission. He needs to fulfill his mother's last wish and change his life. Dropping anchor in the idyllic Resolution harbour, he didn't anticipate becoming involved in illegal fishing, a murder or an unexpected attraction to the most exasperating woman he has ever met. The Australian tropical Island, Resolution, sets the scene again for adventures, dreams and new beginnings. A New Resolution is the final book in the Resolution trilogy, following Back to Resolution and Beyond Resolution.
Rose, who holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree, was born in North Queensland, Australia. Her childhood experiences growing up in a small beach community would later provide inspiration for her first novel, Back to Resolution. Beyond Resolution and A New Resolution are the second and third books in the Resolution series.
Back to Resolution won the Bookseller’s Choice award at the 2012 CALEB Awards, while A New Resolution won the 2013 CALEB Prize for Fiction. She has also released The Greenfield Legacy, a collaborative novel, written in conjunction with three other outstanding Australian authors, and a standalone novel, Ehvah After.
Her novels are inspired by the love of her coastal home and desire to produce exciting and contemporary stories of faith for women. Rose resides in North Queensland, Australia.
I enjoyed reading this book. Anika (Ani) is a fascinating character with an indigenous islander heritage. She lacked parental guidance as a youngster and was rescued by distant relatives, Aunty and Uncle. Starved for love, Ani made a decision that changed the direction of her life.
Nate has lived a life of privilege in Texas and his decisions follow in the pleasure seeking footsteps of his father. His mother’s untimely death sends him on a sailing adventure to far North Queensland.
The first third of the book provides the lead up to Ani and Nate’s first meeting at Resolution, which I would have liked to have seen happen earlier in the story. The sparks fly when they finally meet and a fun romance develops along with a mystery surrounding the source of the illegal fishing on nearby islands.
Ani and Nate discover their faith during the story and they have both experienced intimate relationships with previous partners. This aspect of their lives is explored in a realistic manner in the story. The level of sensuality is higher than the typical Christian romance and includes a bikini top wardrobe malfunction scene that could potentially offend some readers.
The story portrays the very real challenges facing those who seek to uphold Biblical standards of purity outside of marriage. It doesn’t sugar coat the struggles facing people who are not used to suppressing their lustful desires.
I recommend A New Resolution to those looking for a realistic and edgy contemporary romance set in an Aussie tropical island paradise.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author.
(1) Tropical, remote and beautiful Resolution Island is again the setting for Rose Dee’s latest novel in the Resolution series. A New Resolution is a novel that has it all ― romance, intrigue, murder, broken dreams and new beginnings.
Anika Deumer had been determined to break the generational curses that seemed to be part of her family line. And yet, she found herself continuing with the same bad choices that seemed to wreck havoc in her family time and time again.
She finds refuge and a secure retreat at Resolution and then … Nate Hollingsworth unexpectedly sails into Ani’s life.
A New Resolution is a very readable book suited to young women who love adventure, romance and mystery novels. DS
(2) This is the third and final title in the Resolution series by Rose Dee. A New Resolution introduces the reader to new characters, while simultaneously revisiting the lives of familiar inhabitants on the island of Resolution.
Anika Deumer is a young Australian girl with a turbulent past whose future seems uncertain. Nate Hollingsworth is a wealthy American who drops anchor on the island of Resolution. Despite their differences they come to share a common budding faith. Set in the tropics of northern Australia, A New Resolution weaves romance and adventure within a story of redemption and faith. KL
(3) The storyline keeps you involved and wondering what's going to happen next. It has a good Christian message and is a mixture of romance and intrigue. CALEB Awards Bookseller's Prize reviewer
(4) It was easy to read and a good storyline. It also was encouraging and had great Christian content without being overly religious! It was the kind of book I would lend out to others. CALEB Awards Bookseller's Prize reviewer
(5) I enjoyed the book, the themes of family and redemption of the characters. I got distracted by a few errors in the selection of words - use of the wrong word which should have been picked up by editing of the manuscript - eg. 'dingy' instead of 'dinghy'. However overall it was a good read and great fun. CALEB Awards Bookseller's Prize reviewer
(6) This is a story of two very different people with vastly different backgrounds moving towards each other to a romantic conclusion. At the same time they are also moving towards knowing God. But it’s not all plain sailing.
Anika’s childhood has not been good; her was mother was promiscuous and Anika was determined not to follow in her footsteps. But she does, and she is angry; with herself, the father of her baby and God.
After a lot of grief she decides to trust God and begins to pull her life together. A big set- back occurs when her son’s paternal grandfather applies for custody. Anika is offered a job on Resolution Island as a marine biologist which turns out to be dangerous when she gets mixed with some illegal fishermen.
In America Nate is feeling miserable after his Mother’s unexpected death. Her will asks him to spend a year living and travelling on the yacht Savannah; and he berths at Resolution. Ani and Nate don’t really hit it off at first; however they are interested in each other. Most times they meet they end up arguing.
I enjoyed this story. The interaction between the main characters is amusing and the subplot about the illegal dugong fishermen is skilfully woven into story and the island life. Readers who have read the other Resolution books will meet some old friends. LS
I loved this book and wasn't at all surprised when it won the fiction award of the CALEB Awards for 2013.
I appreciate a good story when opposites, who initially rub each other up the wrong way, end up madly in love. But as I've read several of these, that wasn't all that made "A New Resolution" so special. It's not just that it's set in tropical North Queensland, a place I love, either. I sat back to try and figure out what it was, and came up with many factors.
Firstly, it's an easy read with plenty to keep satisfying our emotions. There's excitement, danger and laugh-out-loud humour. But I think what I liked most was the fact that the variety of characters are each so well-drawn.
I could hear the exchange between the main characters in my head. I imagined a Texan accent for Nate, while Anika had an Aussie, country-girl drawl, a bit like Cathy Freeman. Then there was cute little Kye, who came across with all the exuberance of a little boy who's comfortable in himself and the affection of his loved-ones. One of my favourite characters turned out to be Mitchell Mayfield, a man who was initially set up to be a major threat, but ended up being revealed as a sad person who had lost his son, his health, and figured out that money couldn't buy the most important things.
Yes, I'm sure that the reason it resonated so much with me was a combination of great characters, ever-moving plot, beautiful setting and good resolution (no pun intended).
As with the previous novels in the Resolution Series, I greately enjoyed this final episode. It was great to see the characters from previous novels make their appearances without detracting from Nate, Anika and Kye's story. I always love a great romance with a bit of mystery thrown in to keep me turning the pages, and A New Resolution didn't let me down.
Rose doesn't hide the realities of life, including its tempations, fromher writing, and I love that raw honesty that comes through. Especially the pull of the physical versus the choice to do what is right. This came through even in Anika's dealing with Kye's reaction to the wrong around him. And of course, there is the tropical setting of North Queensland, which makes you feel like you are on a warm summer holiday.
I congratulate Rose on winning the CAELB Award for Fiction for this novel. It is well worth it. I recommend A New Resolution to all those who love a strong romance with something extra.
I enjoyed this book. It wasn't the regular romance novel, rather along with the romance, it had issues that pertained to the environmental area such as over fishing, illegal fishing, marijuana growing, and racial and cultural inequalities. The author had me right in the area and I've never been there. I liked that the 2 main characters had both learned about God in their adult lives. They had tasted the life of so called sexual freedom and discovered that it wasn't all it was cracked up to be. This intensified their emotional stress when the sexual tension between them was high. I liked the point where the author has Nate, who was brought up with a Christian influence, realize as he read his mother's bible that he really didn't know what a relationship with God was really like or that it was a choice. A definite great read with mystery, murder, emotional insecurities, and romance.
The third book in Rose's Resolution series has the same level of romance, intrigue and beautiful tropical island setting as books one and two. If you're looking for a book that is not too intense, but has enough character to it to be satisfying, the books of the Resolution series are for you. I'd liken Rose Dee to an Australian version of Karen Kingsbury.
I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this book! The reason being is that I generally find romantic stories too predictable and although this one ends as you would expect, Rose Dee has included lots of interesting benefits along the way
Some of these benefits are created because of the area where the book is set, in northern Queensland. Environmental issues, illegal fishing and growing marijuana are real issues which appear as part of the story. However the issue I thought that Rose handled particularly well was the sexual tension between the two main characters. This is a difficult, but very real issue, to handle in a Christian book. Both characters had slept with others before they were Christians and now they had to consider how to handle this issue from a Christian perspective.
I think this would be an excellent book for older teenagers, as rather than confronting them directly with the importance of making good choices, the story creates a way of looking at relationships in a non threatening way. The characters are easy to identify with and the lessons they learn are easy to apply to our lives.
This book is part of a trilogy of books set on Resolution Island but each one is complete in itself.

A New Resolution by Rose Dee A New Resolution is set on the Australian island of Resolution. The main character Anika Deumer moved to the island to have a new beginning of sorts determined not to make the same mistakes as her mother. She is unweaving in her determination to provide a good life for her seven year old son. As a Marine Biologist she is helping research the declining population of dugong‘s, that are in danger of extinction. When she meets yachter Nate Hollingsworth from Texas she is determined to stay away, judging him to be a rich playboy type. They fight an unexpected attraction to one another as they confront environmental issues like illegal fishing, drugs, a custody crisis and murder. I found the author Rose Dee handled the tough topic of Christian values in a outstanding dignified way as she addressed unwedded sexual relations and attraction before and after becoming a Christian. I give A New Resolution 5 stars. It was a great read, easy to follow, clean romance, and had a good Christian base. The characters were well developed. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a Christian romance with mystery . It is part of a series but it can be read alone. I want to thank the author Rose Dee and Even Before Publishing for bringing good clean Christian books like this one to readers like me. I would also like to thank The Book Club Network Inc. for providing me with this book in exchange for my honest review.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading Beyond Resolution and Back To Resolution. A New Resolution did not disappoint me. I liked how Rose included the characters from previous books into this one without overflowing the new characters. I find myself wishing there were more books to read about Resolution Island. Anika Deumer was rescued by her Aunt and Uncle at a very young age from an unloving and abusive home with no parent to guide her. Anika makes a wrong decision that changes her entire life. I liked how she became a wonderful mother to her son Kye, what she wanted for him and the bond they shared. Nate Hollingsworth comes from a wealthy family. Since his father's illness he has been helping out in the family law firm. When his mother passes away he sets out to fulfill her last request; that he sail for one year aboard their yacht The Savannah. Near the end of the year he docks at Resolution Island. There he meets Anika and soon makes friends with the Island's owners. Anika and Nate are soon drawn to each other but will her heritage and poverty and Nate's wealth allow their feelings to grow? Well written and I loved the other characters. This novel is not just about romance but includes adventure, mystery, danger, murder, new beginnings and faith. A great read.
I received a copy of this book from bookfun.org for my honest opinion and review.
This third book in the Resolution series is another great read. This book, though part of a series, can also stand alone. Characters from previous books in the series also make an appearance. Anika has had a rough life. She was rescued from living with her alcoholic mother as a child and went to live with her aunt. She desired to avoid making the same mistakes her mother made, but finds herself pregnant as a teenager and briefly turns to alcohol to escape. The father of her baby has no desire to be a father and take responsibility, so encourages her to have an abortion. Ani chooses to keep the baby and eventually moves to Resolution Island to make a new life for herself and her young son. While there, the paternal grandfather sues for custody of her son. She also meets an American who has travelled to Australia to fulfill the dying wish of his mother (another story in itself!) and has to face long buried attitudes and bitterness, before she can allow herself to love. A murder, an illegal fishing ring, and the disappearance of her son add to the many twists to this beautiful story of love and forgiveness. I highly recommend this book. It does have some mature themes that would make this inappropriate for a younger audience.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review which I have given.
Let’s go down under!! Let’s Take a sailboat ride to the Australian tropical Island called Resolution. There we will meet a cast of unique, believable and moving characters both native to the area and visitors. This holds true for both the characters you will easily like and or the ones you will not find having a wholesome nature. You will have lessons presented in the story that you will be able to apply to your own life. Having a need for a relationship with God evolves throughout the story The setting described puts the reader right there. When you finish reading the book you feel like your vacation on Resolution has ended and it is time to return home. The author has the characters dealing with multifaceted issues such as: abandonment, adoption, murder, drugs, environmental standards, fidelity, love in marriage, love as a choice, an unwed mom raising a child, consistency in parenting health problems and many humorous situations. This is the first book I read of the authors. Although this is the third book in the author’s Resolution trilogy, it can be read as a stand alone. I received this book from book fun.org. My opinion is my own.
“A New Resolution” by Rose Dee is a good read! Dee has combined mystery, romance and ecology into her new novel. While this is the third book in her Resolution trilogy, it does stand alone well. We quickly meet several characters from the previous books, but they are introduced slowly, which makes it easy to remember who is who. There are villains and good guys, beautiful scenery and good food all available in this story. I like the honesty about relationships and marriage that Dee has put in this story, reminding us that love is a choice. All in all, “A New Resolution” expresses the need for fidelity and love in marriage, it definitely has romance, while remaining clean, and it also shows the need for a child to have stability and good parenting! This has, by far, been my favorite of the three books! Throughout the entire story the need for having a relationship with God is clearly stated. Also, I enjoyed the humor! I received this book from "The Book Club Network" in exchange for my honest opinion.
I have loved this series of books by Rose Dee. Their are three of them. I feel you could read them as a stand alone and still follow a great story. But you are going to want to read them all they are so good. I really liked the characters they are well written. Anika was my favorite. Anika lived through a lot. First being left by parents then being adopted. Anika leaves her home to build a new life for her and her son. But her son's father has followed her to try to take her son. Now Ani has to fight to keep her son. if there is one thing she can't stand is people with money and power. Nate has his own things to deal with. The death of his mother brings a strange request for him to do in order to get his inheritance. Which brings him also to Resolution. Anika and Nate meet and there is some chemistry there, but he stands for everything she doesn't like. Will these two come together? This book was great a romance, there was adventure, there was also mystery. Who murdered someone? I wish there was a book to follow. 5 star book.
Rose Dee has done a wonderful job on the final book in her Resolution trilogy. I enjoyed this one the most of the three. It's a beautiful story of love, redemption and learning to look beyond outward appearances to what's in our hearts. I love that Rose Dee's stories are set in Far North Queensland. It's so great to read about familiar places. Annika Deumer has had a tough life, rescued out of a neglected childhood she vows to be the one to break the family curse of poverty, substance abuse, unwanted pregnancies and being abandon by wealthy men. When she finds herself pregnant at seventeen Annika thinks her life is over. As she begins to put her life back together again she meets a man who seems to be the embodiment of everything she loathes in the world. Full of gorgeous scenery, raw emotion and deep healing that only God can bring Rose Dee has written a book that speaks to the heart.
Apparently A New Resolution is the third book in a series but can easily be read as a stand alone. Rose Dee brings a fun book with love and romance, mystery and mayhem, and social and environmental issues. Her characters are believable, the reader can easily like (or dislike the villains!) them. The descriptions of the idyllic tropical island life entices this reader to want to visit down under. A nice story and a good read. I received this book for free from BookClubNetwork and the publisher in exchange for my honest review. I have also posted this review on DeeperShopping, Barnes and Noble, and Amazon.
After reading the first two of Rose Dee's Resolution series books, I was excited to read this one also.A New Resolution is no disappointment. It is able to be read and enjoyed as a stand-alone but I was glad I was able to enjoy it in series form. The characters and scenery continue to make Australia a place I want to visit. The theme of fidelity and love in a relationship continues. Good parenting skills along with love and stability are encouraged. And of course a strong relationship with God is encouraged. I can not wait to continue to follow this author and her books. I received this book from the Book Club Network in exchange for my honest opinion.
A New Resolution by Rose Dee is a book that has unexpected life issues throughout it. The story is set in Queensland and the two main characters show how being a Christian does not mean that their past lifestyles do not affect others they may meet. Each of them had had sexual partners before they became Christians and the way they face this can help others that may face this issue.
This was a well-written book that presented difficult subjects and how it is hard to come across the best decision at the time. Because of this, it is easy to identify with the characters which helps the lessons taught to be more easily received.
This book is the third in a series, but I had no problems reading it as a stand-alone novel. It is set on a tropical island, and it is very much a romance(the author handles the sexual tension very appropriately in a Christian book). It also is full of intrigue and mystery, including illegal fishing, drugs and murder. It is full of action and held my interest until the very end. I'm looking forward to reading the first 2 books in this series.
I was given this book by The Book Club Network, Inc. for review purposes
I absolutely loved this latest novel from Rose Dee! Set in such an exotic location, on the isle of Resolution. I thoroughly enjoyed the previous books in the series and was so excited to see where Rose would take us next! Her characters are so real and raw and deal with so many tough issues, somehow with such eloquence and grace. I loved Anika, she really had a lot of demons from the past to battle. I was so thrilled with the mystery aspect of the book as well- really surprising! If you're looking for a great summer read, escape to Resolution!!!
This was my favorite in the series. I loved the characters and the bit of suspense and the romance. It all blended well together. Look forward to reading more of Rose Dees books. I recieved this from bookfun.org for a fair and honest opinion.
Again, not my usual read, but the story is well written and has enough action to balance the mild romance. It is a good resolution to the Resolution series.
