I thought this book was an amazing sequel to "Worlds Apart" as well as excellent book in its own right. Edgier and more suspenseful than "Worlds," "Hiding in Plain Sight" takes you into the lives and the worlds of Piper and Pip's children and pulls you into the events that happen in their lives. I was unable to put this book down until I had finished and figured out all of the twists and turns that Ms. Mathais wrote into "Hiding in Plain Sight." I am all ready anxiously awaiting book three in this series!

Kate Mathias has created a world much like our own. Everyone has a twin, sometimes the only thing that’s different is hair color. Their circumstances may be different but otherwise, they live their lives on another earth. Everyone is the same but Worlds Apart.
Chapter one of Hiding in Plain Sight picks up where Worlds Apart ends. And that is with Graham making a “jump” into the alternate world. When he arrives he sees Pip, who also looks exactly like his deseased mom, Piper. Pip also saved Graham’s life. She was able to donate her bone marrow since Piper had died before she could donate. They are a part of each other now. And that means Graham can jump to where Pip is and vice versa. Pip is just returning to her husband from a jump that lasted for months. This jump saved her life and it also was the result of another life to be conceived.
Graham and Arie are twins and at this time Arie is not able to make a jump. She’s lost her mom and now auntie Pip has gone back to her world. She feels abandoned and a little jealous that Graham gets to see Pip often. She keeps this to herself though. Only later, when she finds out about the baby that was conceived by her father does the anger and resentment really start to show. She is openly hostile to Palmer, her half-sister, when she finally meets her but knows Palmer isn’t at fault in this. Palmer wants to get to know her “other” family and eventually meets someone that teaches her to control her jumps. Someone who understands! She’s found someone she can talk to and is very easy on the eyes.
Graham, Arie and Palmer take us on a journey of discovery, hurt, forgiveness and love. We get to see Pip and Joe in the alternate world and Joe and his parents in this world. There is plenty of suspense and thrills with some romance on the side. Throw in the paranormal aspect and Hiding in Plain Sight had it all! I’m glad I read Worlds Apart first but you get enough information in this book to not be lost in the story. Spitfire is the next in the series and I look forward to seeing how everyone is doing!

4.5 rating. Love these books but the to be continues are killing me haha.
This is the second in the Silver Oaks series and takes place in the present for the first half and then jumps ahead 20 years. This one had multiple story lines and usually when that's the case I only really care about one but I actually liked all the stories being told. The cliffhanger in this one isn't as bad as the one in the first one. It leaves just enough mystery to make you intrigued about the next book. But man all the life and death situations are going to give me a heart attack haha.
Great book. Can't wait for the next one!

I really like the way the author Kate Mathias writes her prologues. It builds up my anticipation. I can’t wait to read the next book, Spitfire. I’m anxious to see how Palmer will react to Cole and Arie as an “item/couple”. Well, I guess she’ll be fine if I am right to assume that she might end up with Brant??? I just have to wait and see! ;D

Well. I started this at about 900 this morning & its, now 230pm. I think I enjoyed it! The characters are fabulous & I love the cliff hangers of this & Worlds Apart. Mrs Mathias has a knack for keeping her readers coming back for more.

Well where do I even start? That is my question! I swear I think all these authors have gotten together and are now on a lets fuck with Sandie campaign!!! This book had my head like this....
Yeah just like that. This is the second book in this series and I highly recommend that you read the first book Worlds Apart, only because the first book gives so much back round info. Plus its really good. You know the kind thats like ahhhh this is a bit different so its refreshing!
Hiding in Plain Sight picks up where World's Apart left off. We are still have Graham, Arie, Palmer, Pip and we jump 20 years into the future. So I hate giving away parts of the book but to better explain I must give you just bits okay LOL
In this book Piper being gone. So everyone is pretty much coping with that loss. Now whats interesting about this book is that certain characters are able to "jump" into alternate worlds. Its kind of crazy but it works well for the book.
Graham is Piper and Joe's son and in this book we find him as an adult where he is just unsure of his path in life, or rather his career choice. Because of this it causes him to lose focus and his friend Lance has an accident that he feels responsible for.
Hiding in Plain Sight is a book about loss and how people cope with that. Its also about forgiveness. I am pretty sure that while I read this series I ummmm hmmmm forgot that uh my kids needed to eat. Don't smirk at the screen like that you all know you have done the same at one point or another. What really grabbed me was just the fact that the book is so different and unlike anything I have read in a while.
The "jumping" was one thing that I was like whoa, you get to see two different worlds. Katie does such a great job that there are no holes in the story. Nothing worse than reading a book and feeling lost or like WTF? ummm how the hell did I get here and what did I miss? nope I got none of that. I never felt cheated or at a loss, this book had me captured in this world for hours.
There is love and romance in the book as well as mystery, heartbreak and intrigue. What got me all caught up in these books was the fact that its so different but you watch these characters grow. The love aspect was well written. Lily is Grahams love interest and wow. You have to read it for yourself to understand what the WOW means. Yeah yeah yeah I am mean. I know but you all also know that I give nothing away and therefore you must read it for yourself.
I was like in awe of the way the books were written and put together. I highly recommend this series. The next book Spitfire will be out in Fall and I can not wait to read it.

All of us were all atwitter with the release of this book on Facebook the other day. It is not every day that someone you went to school with releases their second book.
Not only is it someone I went to school with, it’s the sequel to Worlds Apart (The Silver Oaks Series) I’ve been waiting, and waiting, and waiting for this book to come out. The first one grabbed me, sucked me right into the story, and I could not wait for this one to hit the store. Imagine my happiness on release day when I opened my email to a gift via Amazon from Kate Mathias. Woot woot! New book!
If you haven’t read Worlds Apart (The Silver Oaks Series, it is still free on Kindle at the time of this posting. Grab it so you can get caught up to this story.

She’s right. It was an amazing sequel, an amazing ride, a journey I could not put down. In Worlds Apart, we got to love Pip, Piper, and the Joe’s. We laughed, we cried, we started to get to know Graham and Arie, Piper and Joe’s children. Now in Hiding in Plain Sight, we get to know Pip’s daughter while her life starts to coincide with Graham and Arie’s.
Kate is able to take all these situations in different worlds with different families and intricately ties them together so perfectly. I honestly have no idea how she came up with this story line but it is amazing. People living in 2 different dimensions that are almost identical on both sides, people who can jump back and forth between the 2 affecting those living in both dimensions. Everything coincides the way it should, everything lines up in both worlds. Kate has an amazing mind.
I couldn’t put it down. Obviously (from the screenshot above). My kids almost weren’t fed supper. It was that good. I literally wrote out a list for Subway, drove us up there, sent my 14 year old in with the list, and sat in the car reading. I could not stop reading.
I literally yelled out in a high squeaky voice, “that was SO GOOD!” when I got done.
Woke up the child who had climbed in the bed next to me.
I highly recommend grabbing Worlds Apart (The Silver Oaks Series while it’s free and then buy Hiding in Plain Sight (The Silver Oaks Series) (Volume 2) so you have it ready to go. That’s the only good thing about not finding a book until the sequel has been released, no waiting between 1 and 2. Kate will draw you in with her storytelling and before you know it, you’ll be anxiously awaiting the release of Spitfire, just like the rest of us.

Holy smokes! Hiding in Plain Sight was quite the thrill ride. The action and suspense are definitely ratcheted up a few notches. I wasn't quite expecting that but it made for a sensational read!
I don't want to give things away about the plot so I'm going to be intentionally vague about certain things. Just know that it all makes perfect sense when reading. : )
Hiding in Plain Sight continues Pip and Joe's story along with their daughter's, Palmer. It also follows Piper's Joe's life and that of their twins, Graham and Arie. However, for most of the book, the kids are grown up and it's their story.
I enjoyed watching Graham and Arie grow up. They were able to share their family's ability with their best friends' family and that made life a bit easier. Since Graham can jump, he's been able to visit Pip. I think this enabled him to grow up less affected by the tragedy his family endured. Arie is the most affected. She's grown into a more isolated and prickly woman. I got the feeling she pushes everyone away.
Pip hasn't jumped to Piper's world much since Graham's health crisis ended. However, he's stayed close with Pip and her family since he could jump to them. Palmer has led a pretty stable life. She hasn't witnessed her mom jumping and only learns of the ability when Graham appears at a most opportune moment. Following that, Palmer learns she can jump as well. And, even better, her first jump occurs in front of Cole, another jumper. However, there's a bit of mystery thrown in when Cole jumps to Arie and her dad seems to know Cole. And he wants to have nothing to do with him. Hmm...
Hiding in Plain Sight seems to center mostly on Graham. As I said, he was able to grow up around Pip's family and he's grown into a fine young man. He's in law enforcement and recently moved back to Silver Oaks with the DEA. It's nice to see him interacting again with his family and his childhood friends...particularly Lily! She really helps Graham stay positive when the negative in his life could bury him. Ah, the power of love. Making me feel how deeply Graham and Lily feel for one another is something Ms. Mathias excels at.
I feel Hiding in Plain Sight is more exciting than Worlds Apart and since I was used to the jumping, it didn't pose any issues for me. Also, I really love all these characters! They're a tight-knit family despite the dual reality thing and I appreciate that. And the concept of the dual realities and being able to jump from one to the other is so unique. I feel like I am even more invested in these characters' lives. There is one more book in this series, Spitfire. I'm anxious to see how it all turns out.

What a fantastic sequel. Even better than the first and the first was good already. Kate Mathias takes us on a journey that is out of this world in more ways than one.
Hiding in Plain Sight is the second book in The Silver Oaks series. The first book Worlds Apart is so different and interesting. It is different in the best possible way. You follow the story of Piper, Pip, and the Joes and their inter-connected lives. If you have not read Worlds Apart yet I recommend you read it before you read Hiding in Plain Sight, only because there is A LOT of background story that you might get little lost trying to figure out on your own.
Hiding in Plain Sight picks up exactly where Worlds Apart left off and then jumps 20 years in the future. We continue to follow the lives of Graham, Arie, Palmer, Pip, the Joes, and even the ever present Chad. We get to see how everyone has coped with Piper being gone. This story really demonstrates how everyone deals with loss in different ways. For some is easier to pick up the pieces and keep going while others struggle to not take the loss personally and feel abandoned. There are so many emotional levels to this story. It really grabs you and it’s hard to disconnect from it.
Graham is faced with a very difficult situation that leaves him uncertain if the career he chose is the right one. This leads to him being unfocused and causing his friend, Lance, to sustain an injury that he feels he is responsible for. Lily, Lance’s sister, has been Graham’s friend since childhood. When they reconnect they are immediately drawn to each other. She is exactly what Graham needs,even if he doesn't know it.
“I may have protected you all those years, but Lily, you’re the one that saved me. I didn’t even realize that I needed saving until you came along and opened my eyes”--Graham
“Sometimes even knights in shining armor need to be rescued too” – Lily
This story is even more intense than the first one. At one point is “jumping” crazy. It seems like everyone is “jumping” and the outcome of those jumps are uncertain. I loved getting to see the addition of other characters into the story. I am super excited for Cole and Brant!!! I think those two are going to bring some interesting twists to the next part of this story Spitfire. I can’t wait to see if/when Arie is going to be able to jump. I am anxiously awaiting the third book in this series!

Hiding in Plain Sight is the second book in The Silver Oaks Series. Kate Mathias has weaved us through the emotional plot of this paranormal romance, it is a definite page turner.
In Worlds Apart we fall in love with Piper, Pip and Joe. Their story is so amazing and heartbreaking. In addition, we meet to Piper and Joe’s children Arie and Graham. The story is expanded in Hiding in Plain Sight to include Pip and Joe’s daughter, Palmer. I truly enjoyed how Lance and Lily joined the story and the role Cole plays helping Palmer embrace her jumping capabilities.
Hiding in Plain Sight is about forgiveness and starting over. We learn that sometimes the unexpected is truly the path to your happiness. Joe and Pip’s marriage suffers while she is pregnant with Palmer. It isn’t until Joe thinks he has lost her for good that he realizes Pip is his whole world and he can’t live without her.
The story jumps ahead 20 years and we see Arie, Graham and Palmer as adults. Graham is the only link to Palmer since he is the only one that can jump. However, after a near death experience Palmer learns she can jump. We are pulled into their adult lives and all the relationships they are forming.
Graham and Lily develop a steamy romance that turns into a more permanent relationship as the book comes to an end:
“Graham tightened his arm around her back and pulled her closer to him. Lily snuggled into his chest and let out a sigh. He kissed the top of her head and his lips lingered in her hair. She smelled of strawberries and he breathed in her scent. He whispered into her ear “I’ll want you forever.”

In Worlds Apart we fall in love with Piper, Pip and Joe. Their story is so amazing and heartbreaking. In addition, we meet to Piper and Joe’s children Arie and Graham. The story is expanded in Hiding in Plain Sight to include Pip and Joe’s daughter, Palmer. I truly enjoyed how Lance and Lily joined the story and the role Cole plays helping Palmer embrace her jumping capabilities.
Hiding in Plain Sight is about forgiveness and starting over. We learn that sometimes the unexpected is truly the path to your happiness. Joe and Pip’s marriage suffers while she is pregnant with Palmer. It isn’t until Joe thinks he has lost her for good that he realizes Pip is his whole world and he can’t live without her.
The story jumps ahead 20 years and we see Arie, Graham and Palmer as adults. Graham is the only link to Palmer since he is the only one that can jump. However, after a near death experience Palmer learns she can jump. We are pulled into their adult lives and all the relationships they are forming.
Graham and Lily develop a steamy romance that turns into a more permanent relationship as the book comes to an end:
“Graham tightened his arm around her back and pulled her closer to him. Lily snuggled into his chest and let out a sigh. He kissed the top of her head and his lips lingered in her hair. She smelled of strawberries and he breathed in her scent. He whispered into her ear “I’ll want you forever.”

Mathias intricately and seamlessly pulls the realities of two worlds together and masterfully spins them into one. I started reading this book this morning and finished it within about two hours; that should tell you how much I enjoyed it. What I adore about this series is just how different it is from any other book that I have ever laid eyes on. As soon as I started reading I was drawn into the storyline, just like book one, and could barely stand putting it down because I wanted … no… I needed to know what was going to happen next. Officially, I am able to say that I am invested in these characters. They are a part of my world now and have a place in my heart. I am excited and anxious to see what happens next.

Not bad, more on 3.5 stars but I'll go with 4 stars.
Still can be a little confusing if you aren't paying attention. This story picks up right where book 1 ended and then moves to when Graham, Arie and Palmer are older. This story is more about Graham and Palmer than anyone.
We get lots of twists in this one as well, but not as dramatic as book 1.
And we are left with a cliffhanger. I would wait til you have all 3 books together before reading, so you aren't left wondering- cause book 3 will pick up right where this one left off as well.
I honestly am not a huge fan of this series but its ok.

This book is full of surprises, and you honestly never know what is going to happen next. Although I enjoyed reading Worlds Apart, I found this book drew me in much more and I finished it over the space of 24 hours. The characters have all grown up and this shone through the writing, allowing the reader to connect to the characters more. It's fast paced and with never a dull moment, I found myself turning page after page wanting to know what was happening to all of them. I can't wait to see where this series is going to lead next.

After I finished reading Worlds Apart, I could not wait to read Hiding in Plain Sight. I loved this book! It was interesting to see Graham and Palmer jump into each others lives as their mothers did. I also liked that there was someone else not related to the family that could jump too. I look forward to reading more about Cole and Brant. I am also curious about how Arie's and Palmer's lives will turn out anf if they grow closer. I can't wait for Spitfire to come out!! Great job Kate Mathias!!

I give Hiding in Plain Sight another 5 star review, as I did for Worlds Apart. I loved this book as much as the first, but probably even more so because I'd already fallen in love with the characters and wanted to explore the worlds more. I'll say it again, just as the first, it has romance and love, but also mystery, danger, heartbreak, and always...hope. A truly fantastic story from a fantastic author. I can't wait for the third and (final?) book, Spitfire.

WHOA!!! What am amazing ride!!! I just finished "Hiding In Plain Sight" by Kate Mathias and I was blown away yet again! I really love the way Kate has a unique talent of building a story with such grace, them exploding at the end!!! If you are an avid reader of paranormal books, you should grab this one up immediately!!!

Really happy with the 2nd installment. Not happy that I have to wait for #3!! I loved delving into some of the deeper relationships between the characters and can't wait to see how Mathias ties it all up in #3!

Wow!! I read this book in less than 2 hours. I just could not put it down. I loved Worlds Apart and I very pleased with how the story has evolved in Hiding in Plain Sight. This is a great read and I cannot wait to see what happens in Spitfire. Great job on this Kate.
