Adrian Plass is a writer and speaker who has produced over thirty books in the last twenty years. The best known of these is probably The Sacred Diary of Adrian Plass, a gentle satire on the modern church, which has sold hundreds of thousands of copies worldwide. This and other books have travelled to other countries and are translated into a number of foreign languages. Other books include biography, novels, short stories, a fictionalised account of the author's experiences as a residential child care worker, and collections of poems and sketches. A bemused Anglican, Adrian lives with his wife and daughter in a small market town near the Sussex South Downs.

Adrian has been in demand as a speaker in venues as varied as prisons, schools, churches, festivals, literary dinners and theatrical settings. His work also includes contribution to national and local radio and television. Live presentations combine humour, poetry, and story telling, largely revolving around his own inadequacies and struggles as a Christian and a human being.

In recent years Adrian has been joined by his wife Bridget in presenting a more varied and dramatic style of performance. Adrian and Bridget met at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and have found particular satisfaction in being allowed to ‘do a bit of acting’. They have also been privileged to work alongside World Vision on several occasions, visiting Bangladesh and Zambia, writing two books and touring both in the UK and abroad with the aim of encouraging people to take up child sponsorship

Their work now takes them as far away as Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Africa, while trips to Europe have introduced the added dimension of speaking through interpreters. Not easy when you're trying to be funny!

Adrian's latest books include ‘Jesus Safe Tender and Extreme‘, published by Zondervan, ‘Blind Spots in the Bible’, published by BRF, and most recent of all ‘Bacon Sandwiches and Salvation’ published by Authentic Media. He and Bridget have also collaborated with friends in Canada to produce a CD of his favourite sketches from the last 20 years called ‘Preaching to the Converted’ while ‘A Touch of Plass’, CTA’s documentary video, is now out on DVD.

2008 began with a visit to Bolivia for Bridget and Adrian in collaboration with the charity Toybox to look at projects involving street children. Later on there will be a DVD, a book and a number of presentations promoting their work.

Adrian's central motivation continues to be his love for Jesus, although some may feel he expresses it rather eccentrically. His passion is to communicate the need for reality in faith, and a truth that he learned during a difficult stage in his life: "God is nice and he likes me..." Some have described his work as being ‘one long confessional’. They may well be right!

Sequel to 'Seriously Funny', this is published as a series of letters between Adrian Plass in the UK, and Jeff Lucas in the US. It explores some of their thoughts on topics as diverse as depression, divine healings (or not), pretending to be holier than one really is, and working with unusual people. And a whole lot more.

There are regular forays into the Bible, with light and often humorous interpretations or explanations about things that are not always easy to understand. Countless anecdotes from both Plass and Lucas which I assume are at least based on experience. Both writers share self-deprecating stories with a tinge of ironic humour, and a great deal to think about. Some of the letters were just mildly amusing, others thought-provoking, and some just made me heave a huge sigh of relief.

This is really written for ordinary muddling-along Christians who don't mind expressing doubts and worries. Perhaps it would be good for fundamentalists and cessationists and Calvinists and others who are 100% committed to a particular part of Christianity to take a wider look at the reality of God’s love for mankind - but I doubt if they would read it.

Definitely recommended. Four and a half stars, really.

This is definitely one of the shortest books I've picked up lately, having just finished some monster reads of over 900 pages, and it was good to pick up something just for refreshment and good clean fun.

Jeff Lucas has been a speaker at my church on several occasions and it's always delightful to hear him speak. He is witty, intelligent, insightful and gut-wrenchingly honest. It is so refreshing when someone in the leadership of the Christian community can so honestly put forward questions about the whys and hows of life and even admit--gasp!--that he has doubts about this whole "Christian" thing and about the existence of Jesus from time to time. Every one of us who has started this faith journey can relate...but most of us are too ashamed to admit it.

I read through this in just a few hours, devouring the simple truths, both joyful and tearful, and look forward to reading more truth and honesty from these two inspiringly open Christian men.

The book is a series of letters between the two authors. Each chapter is written by one of them and they respond to what the other has written in the previous chapter. I gave this book 4/5 stars. I enjoyed some of the humorous stories and liked how they inserted some basic Christian principles. I did, however get a bit bored with it all. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a book that has funny stories in it. I gave it a lower rating because I just did not enjoy all of it and felt it could have been edited down better.

I would like to thank the publisher for the copy of this book I enjoyed reading. I gave an honest review based on my opinion of what I read.

This is such an excellent sincerely funny exchange of letters between two British ministers who take a realistic look at the weak areas of their own personal faith & witness. We know already as readers that ministers also have "feet of clay" and subject to the ploys of society. Here they show through an exchange how they've dealt poorly and sometimes admirably with this. I laughed a few times so hard that I had to wipe my eyes; thinking to myself, "Oh so-and-so ought to read this." If you are so inclined, put this on your list. I think you'll find it refreshing, both autobiographically and philosophically.

I don't think it was quite a funny as the first, however I do think some of the serious things dealt with in this seriously funny book are very well put forward. Read it. It still is funny and if you have read any of Jeff or Adrian previous works you will know that they are both funny yet serious addressing real issues. Thank you for the kind dedication too.

Not as funny as the first book, shame really, but I still love the honesty and the grit these two friends show. I love the poignant stories, the hysterical stories, the anecdotes, the doubts and the humanity they show. This really is a great read and it will appeal to all kinds of readers from those who love stories to those who want to deepen their understanding of the Christian life.

Two authors I always enjoy. The writing letters to each other can bring up bizarre topics. However, over all worth reading. Jeff Lucas and Adrian Plass always know how to make fun of the madness of some Christian rituals and sayings and highlight what's left when you get rid of the madness.

Just started reading this and loving that they are talking about exactly what I've been feeling recently. They seem to be backing up my ideas or the place I am at in my life
