Homemade Christmas Toni Anderson is a 2012 publication.
This book was part of a kindle deal promotion recently and since my family has really toned down the expenditures during Christmas I thought I would give the book a look see. I am not an arts and crafts type person and many books that promise simplicity and “anyone can do this” projects, usually require more time and patience, not to mention creativity than I have. But, since the book was free or 99 cents, I thought I couldn't go wrong if the ideas were too complicated.
I have to say this was probably first book of it's kind that I have purchased in which I actually found some cool ideas and could actually find all the materials needed without spending a small fortune. Sure, there were a few projects that were a little time consuming or that required materials I didn't have laying around somewhere readily available, but most of the ideas only required a trip to Michaels or your local craft shop and were not hard to find items.
My favorite was the movie in package- my entire family has Netflix or some other streaming source, so a few ways to spice up movie night at home worked great for me. I was also fond of the Hooded Towel and the mini bean bags. Easy Peasy!
A few of the ideas were kind of out of date and you wouldn't really want to give those for gifts to anyone over 12 years old or you might elicit an eye roll. The only other thing I would warn you about is that you most likely will want to have sewing machine, unless you just enjoy hand sewing things, because that will make the project take a lot longer to complete.
There were projects that one could do with your children or were geared for children. Lots of cute ideas. Overall I recommend this book for those who are looking for low budget, easy to made crafts or project ideas to give as gifts or just to have fun with. 4 stars
It’s just a collection of crafts from a bunch of blogs. Only a few are modern, most look like they’re handmade and findable on a shelf at the thrift store.
Got this for free on Amazon. There were quite a few projects that I'd love to try and others that I wasn't really interested in. The book is compiled of a variety of different projects designed by bunch of different people, many who provide blog links, so if you really like something you can go to that author's webpage to search for even more fun. I felt like the book could have been organized and formatted a little better (and some of the pictures needed some editing or completely retaken, depending on the author), but it's really not too bad as a self-published book. Overall I enjoyed seeing the diversity of projects presented.
If you like arts/crafty things, I'd guess you'll find at least one project in this book that you'd enjoy.
I wanted to do something special this year but I'm short on ideas. I spotted this book and figured I'd been saved! Boy was I ever right. This book is filled with LOTS of interesting ideas that are great for the budget and from the heart. I found all of them easy to complete and a wide variety of interests. Do yourself a favor and check this out. It sure helped me and even gave me some other ideas to add to my list of special gifts. Highly recommended.
This book is great for the crafty person and even the not-so-crafty looking to make a gift for someone or to keep the kiddos busy. It has such a wide variety of easy to do yet nice crafts in it that someone should easily find something in it that gets their creative juices flowing.
Sad to say but, I have seen all these idea's else where.... (most crafters will know where that is.) But I gave it two stars for those who do not because there are some great idea's (not to mention they are all together in this one book! ) and its a thank you to the author for doing the leg work.
Homemade Christmas Gifts DIY items you can make at home. Inexpensive and artsy. Color photos of finished items along with some that show the step by step instructions. Some items are just glued, others are sewn. Cool section for kids gifts. They look easy that kids could even make them for their friends gifts.
This is a good book to help parents get ideas to engage young children to make Christmas gifts. Some really good ides. Some really basic. Either which way, pick up a copy and decide for yourself WaAr
One of the best collections of homemade gifts I've seen. And there are actually some unique ideas instead of twists on the same old ideas in every other list. I may be trying a few of these this Christmas.
There are some good recipes for adults in here, but most of these recipes are for children. Many of these items will make good inexpensive additions to gift baskets.
some ideas worth considering. Overall, not much I haven't seen before. Glad I got this as a freebie. It's good to have, for reference, if nothing else.
If you enjoy giving personalized presents and love crafts, then this is for you! Projects vary in difficulty so it will appeal to amateurs and professionals alike.
