Diabolo the Great, an illusionist, makes a terrible mistake in front of an audience in New York, failing to "behead" his assistant. When he is subsequently fired, a talking doll in his room named Erich blames his assistant Corinna for it, and Diabolo beheads her. Three years later, he is again a successful magician, and Dylan Dog and his girlfriend Vivien go to see one of his shows. Vivien follows Dylans recommendation and goes as a volunteer from the public, but Diabolo starts sweating hard as Vivien is very similar to Corinna, and the show goes bad. He is fired, once again, and Erich tells Diabolo to go and kill the new Corinna, raised from the dead to hunt and torment him. He does just that and goes to kill Vivien in her bath. Dylan is heartbroken, but surprised when Diabolo, despite being fired, is hired again the day after. He goes to one of his shows, but nothing unusual happens, and he even checks the showman's room, but he finds nothing. Then another woman is killed in a similar manner and an eyewitness places someone who looks like Diabolo on the scene. Dylan confronts Diabolo and his assassin persona Erich and is saved by Bloch. Diabolo is arrested and the case is closed.

A very mediocre story of Dylan Dog, with beautiful drawings but an incredibly lame story. So lame, in fact, that almost nothing out of the ordinary is really happening, and several deus ex machina moments do not certainly help this issues weak plot. I unfortunately cannot recommend this story. :(
