Hi,The book is great . It was very helpful. GIMP is practically a really excellent graphic and photo editor. It almost has all Photoshop features compared to other alternatives. I'm a hobbyist photographer not getting paid and have no intention of ever making money. I usually editing photographs on GIMP . I have a XP-Pen Deco 01 Drawing Tablet for work on my desktop . For GIMP it's powerful and well integrated.
Seemingly exhaustive manual, thick as the NYC phone directory and choc-full of illustrations. There's also a companion website that offers further examples of what you can do with the software's animation features, among other cool and useful tools. I've grown weary of dealing with Adobe and their Photoshop/Lightroom tools, now only available through software as a service (SaaS) in the cloud. GIMP is a free download, requires no subscription and works as well as Photoshop, although it may not be as intuitive as Adobe's signature software. That's where this book comes in handy. It retails for $50 USD, but has far and away paid for itself by saving me time in my professional life, revealing features and shortcuts that might otherwise have eluded me for months. When you consider that the GIMP software itself is free (compared to $120 for one year of Photoshop access), the price of this book is negligible. Recommended.
The book is straight forward and simple to read. The book of GIMP includes short tutorials and tool reference for GIMP 2.8+ software for photo editing and graphical design. After reading through this as a "howto" manual, I can use it again and as a reference encyclopedia.
Very informative for anyone wanting to use GIMP. It is a little overwhelming at first, but the author takes it step by step. I will have to add this to my reference library...so much information.
