At the start of this novel I had real high hopes for it, seemed to have some potential but then it all deteriorated. There were too many storylines thrown in at the very beginning and I did not know which one we were suppose to follow and then it slimmed down a little bit to just Nisreen (MC) and her love interests but then again everything went to chaos it was hell, I was confused for a lot of the time. I struggled to finish this book because I realize what it was going to end on and I hated it, I mean it made no sense to me at all.
None of the characters had any depth or dimension whatsoever, the author has a good tone of voice as a narrator but she has no concern for detail and that is a deal-breaker to me, the pleasures of reading is in the details only in the details.
I struggled to imagine any of the characters, are they tall, short, blondes, brunettes? What are their features? So many things were missing for me to enjoy this book.
As a female author it infuriated me that her female lead was so indecisive, needy and weak, and in this day and age their is no excuse for that.
I also really did not care to see so much of 3alaa's point of view he might have as well bleed to death, I just did not care what happens to him she should not have given us so much of his point of view he is just scum and should have been a secondary character and the message would have been delivered equally as loud. I did not care for how she wanted us to see what is left of his humanity NO I DONT CARE kill his humanity that would have been a lot more powerful because it would have been grounded.
