Mimi and Charles take some time off from the detective agency to help Charles' friend, Anthony DeLuca, sell his exclusive line of voodoo dolls at a trade show in San Francisco. Mimi is less than thrilled to find out Charles has invited Nick Christianson to come along. But as luck may have it, Mimi finds the body of a dead sales rep. When Anthony is implicated in the suspicious death, Mimi investigates her way, and NIck goes off with his old partner at the SFPD to investigate with them. With so many viable suspects, who wanted this sales rep dead?
USA Today bestselling author, Jamie Lee Scott, loves killing people, ehem, writing a good mystery. When she’s not writing novels, she’s writing screenplays and making indie films. Her first produced screenplay can be seen on DirecTV’s ShortsHD channel. No One Knows is an “Editor’s Choice” on the channel for short films. Jamie lives on a farm with her husband, two dogs, two cats, and three horses. Aside from writing, Jamie is a competitive barrel racer.
Jamie Scott seems to have digressed on her character Mimi. I did not like this as much as I did the first two books. She's making her out to be a desperate woman. Will try book four in hopes of improvement, otherwise will switch to another author.
I just wish there was more romance between mimi and Nick. Seems every time They get cozy something happens. I already guessed that Dominick would show sooner or later because they never found his body. Can't wait to read why? Mimi, Charles and Nick go to help a friend set up for a show when they find an ex boss of Anthony dead. She was not a nice lady and their were a lot of suspects. Nicks ex partner, who wanted him, has him working with her on his old police job. Mimi is very jealous and so the story continues.. I can't put these books down and am getting ready to read my fourth one in two days...Happy mystery.
What a great series, and all except the latest audiobooks are available through Hoopla at your library. The books and are short, fast reads, ending that kept you wanting to read the next book in the series. Glad I found this series.
I wish Mimi was so, I don't know what to call her. She's overly jealous of a man she doesn't want., oh wait yes she does, no she doesn't. this just goes on and on through out the book.
2.5 Still like the series but getting kinda Stephanie plum-ish (which I find annoying). If she’s not still with Nick or moved on at the beginning of the next book- I’m over it. Why does every fairly fascinating female character always have to revolve around male love interest charters to determine their worth and normally save them at the end? I’m kinda over the series.
I was so happy to read the next book in this series and I was not disappointed. Mimi is a hoot and a bit full of herself but then maybe she needs to be to run a detective agency. Anyway, she has been through a lot and seems to be on the road to recovery. Maybe Nick will add to her positive actions but for sure she has Charles and Jackie in her corner. The humor comes through in the writing and you just want to see what happens next. That is there signs of a good character but more the sign of a good writer. Jamie Lee Scott is one of those writers that you will love. Each book can be read alone but they are better in order so you know why Mimi acts the way she does. I'll be getting Book 4.
Mimi, Nick and Charles are helping Charles' partner Anthony at a retail trade show. When an extremely unpopular saleswoman dies, suspicion falls on Anthony and a bunch of others. Mimi can't help but investigate while dealing with some serious jealousy issues when Nick works with his ex-detective partner.
I like these characters a lot and I'll continue to read the series.
I enjoy these, but struggle to read consecutively and nead a break between the books. Some of the characters, Charles especially, grate with me and Mimi and Nick's relationship doesn't really have suspense. That aside, they're not too bad
The only reason I read this book is it was part of a 3-book set. I enjoyed the first book in the series, but I am now losing interest. I doubt if I will read book 4 in the series.
