What’s more dangerous? The Oregon wilderness? Hit men? Or the heat in Grayson’s arms?
Robin is flying back into the misty Pacific Northwest for Christmas, which is a bit fitting after her last so-so relationship ended. Alex just wasn’t the right man for her. Things look up when Grayson sits next to her on the plane—he’s hot, charming, witty and very into her. Unfortunately their chance meeting puts her in danger, and suddenly Robin is trapped into spending the holiday with this charming, mysterious man at a secluded mountain cabin.
He vows to protect her with his own life if needed, but the danger isn’t just from the men tracking them down. Robin isn’t sure she can trust Grayson, and yet she’s pulled to his magnetism. Safety is quickly losing the battle to desire…
A romantic novella from the author of A Cowboy for Christmas, Embers of Hope and More Than Memories.
The Billionaire That Bought Me is out on all the retailers! The second book will release later this year, as well as Sarah's Song.
Kristen James lives in the Pacific Northwest (USA) and enjoys many outdoor activities such as cycling, hiking, berry picking and canoeing. Her writing features the mountains and coastline in her home state of Oregon, along with lots of conflict and emotion! She loves creating unique story lines and strong, complicated characters that stay with readers. Kristen is the author of over twenty books, and her work has ranked in the top 100 Kindle books in the US, UK, and Canada.
Grayson, a spy, is flying home to the USA after handing in his resignation. He ends up seated next to Robin who has just broken up with her boyfriend after four years. They like each other! On arrival Robin is almost kidnapped - there's only one thing to do, take her into protective custody in an isolated cabin, off the grid, where the chance of anyone finding them is, in this case, 100%. Cue sex and violence and a very unexpected (and totally unnecessary) killing. The writing is poor, the editing ditto - it's a mess.
Robin is flying home from a vacation get away in Hawaii. After four years she realized her previous boyfriend never wanted to go past hanging out together. Can you believe it, four years!
Grayson had handed in his resignation. He's on his way home for good....this was it, the end of the last one!.....
Robin's seat mate is a newly wed but they couldn't sit together. Wow, this sexy, sensuous mouth just offered his seat so she can sit with her husband. I can handle this, it won't be TO HARD!
Grayson is torn up in what to do about Robin. OH NO, two guys out of nowhere, they have Robin ! . Get the girl out of sight, a week is all we need to clear her.
This story gives the reader the insight to the day to day of what a spy would have to deal with. Not, cold, run, stop, duck, stop its ok and what we are clear! Dealing with the emotions, an I safe, do I need to run, does that guy look suspicious and I'm clear! I can't even begin to think about having to make those kinds of decisions in a split second and what would happen to me. Much less how to protect anyone that even looks to me much less talks.
I'm here to protect not, not fall in love with the beautiful red head, with smooth skin, gorgeous skin, like silk, girl, The same one that I put in jeopardy on the plane. I can help it, says they: I've never let my guard down like this before.....Woo,,$&%s Bing, bang, boom they've done it, they fell in love!
Read this beautiful fast paced mystery with all the stops pulled out. Do they get they're man or men? Will they recognize their love or is it to late?? Well written with a perfect set of characters to match.. Easy read to going out with a note of happiness. Excellent read.

Novella/Short Story Ratings Book ♥ 1 Stars Author ♥♥♥ 3 stars Total ♥♥ 2.5 stars
Really? Because, you speak to someone on a plane she becomes an almost-victim in a kidnapping scene. I have read other books by Kristen James and they were much better than this! I think that to be such a short book there was entirely too much of something and not enough of LETS GET TO THE POINT! It made it when it got to the actually Point that I did not actually care enough to enjoy it. It was sweet and had a lot of potential but would have been a better novel because then the too much of something would have played in to the entire book!
I try really hard not to rate anything less than a three and I have to admit I was torn on this one. There was some indication that it would turn into something but it kind of felt like the author was racing. We didn't get a lot of the characters, the plot and promised suspense never quite panned out, and the ending felt rushed. I think that if this short story was turned into a full length novel with more depth it could be something good.
SPOILER AHEAD. Unneeded incident at the end spoilt the whole story for me. Good plot, could have been a light, enjoyable read. But just too short to do this story justice and a really rotten unneeded ending. Liked the characters but found everything way too rushed and I absolutely hated the ending. SPOILER HERE. Arianna, Grayson’s sister and another agent, is killed. Why did that need to happen? Spoilt the whole story for me. Read and reviewed previously but review is missing.

This is just the type of HEA story you want to read at Christmas. Granted spies is not the top of your list for romance or Christmas storylines. I have to say this is a really good adventure to take to a love story. Things to make you smile & parts to make you sad. I did wish it was longer at the end.
The novella alternates between being really cute, funny and sweet and completely lost and confused. There's too much background that's not really explained and could do with more detail. It's difficult to feel for the characters if you don't know where they're coming from. The story line was good, but could have been written in a better way.
Cute story for a short story. The ending seemed to be a little rushed; and I think this would have made a really good full length novel with more time to develop the characters and their relationship. For a short story it was fun.
It started out as cute flirting, but turned into something much darker. But yet, it still had too light a feel for the heavy subject matter. I think this was too much story to put into so few pages.
3.5 I enjoyed it. The only detractor is that it had a major event, impact one of the key members of the couple. But not enough back story was provided for the reader to be invested.
