As Pastor Jonathan Taylor struggles to heal from the fatal accident which took his wife, he finds that grief and rage have distanced him from his faith and his four children.
Close family friend, Julia Dahl, devotes her summer to walk with the Taylors through the pain that threatens to destroy them all. Her greatest desire is for them to find peace with God and one another. Unexpectedly, her gentle efforts bring more than bargained for when deep affection blossoms into true love.
Now, just when everyone is ready to live life again, Julia is confronted by her haunted past. Jonathan is confident that Julia is his second chance at love. But he doesn’t know her secrets. Can his love be enough to save her from the shame that eats at her soul?
It has taken a miracle for this family to triumph in the face of tragedy. For Julia, victory will require exposing the very thing she’s spent a lifetime trying to forget.
All hope for healing lies on the other side of vulnerability and only the courageous will ever cross over.
Janene is a Kansas photographer and writer who loves to play in garden dirt. In 2022, she married a Jesus-loving rocker, Jeremy--the best YES of the decade! Her ever-increasing brood currently boasts nearly a dozen adorable grandchildren and their amazing parents.
Her life has been a whirlwind of adventure which she blames on that moment she asked Jesus into her heart and fell in love with Him so completely that nothing will ever measure up to just being in His presence. She has discovered that writing gripping stories about fictional people in challenging circumstances allows her the unique opportunity of sharing over and over again the wonder of a life that is forever altered by His touch.
Looking unto Jesus the Author and Finisher of our faith…Hebrews 12:2
This incredible story is a must read. It is a precious story of love, heartbreak, grief, healing, forgiveness, letting go, and accepting the new gift God has ready for you. Sometimes in the midst of the heartache and grief we get stuck hanging on to the person who has passed away with all of our might and letting that rule our life. There comes a time when you must let go, know God is in control even when it doesn't make sense, and see what God's plan for your life is. Sometimes it is right there in front of you. There are also times in our lives when the past is so unbearably painful we simply feel we cannot forgive ourselves even when we know that God already has. We hang on the the guilt, pain, and bitterness and we shouldn't. It affects everything in our lives in a negative way. I am ready to hear more from this author. A riveting story.
I acquired this Kindle book as a freebie. I had some doubts but once I dug deeper the book got better. Jonathan Taylor is a Kansas pastor whose life changes when his wife dies in a car accident. Julie Dahl is a Kansas teacher who was Rachel Taylor's friend. As the story unfold's Julie becomes a important person who keeps the Taylor family together. God's presence is evident in many of the sub-plots intertwined in this book. Mary Beth Greers is overcome with grief over her daughter's death, struggles with bitterness and almost hits rock bottom before he husband intervenes. In closing, this is your classic story of tragedy, strength, and trusting God in hard times. Great read!
