Rate this book
Revolutionary Bible Study introduces a totally new way to study God’s Word, making the Scripture clearer than it has ever been known before, through rereading the New Testament chronologically while understanding what was happening historically that the writers were addressing. It can, not only revolutionize our understanding of the New Testament, but it can also change the very practice of Christianity. Until now, there has been a built-in blockage to our study of the Bible. Unnoticed, this barrier has prevented all of us from understanding what the New Testament is saying. The problem? The chaotic arrangement of Paul’s letters. Now this hindrance is removed. Suddenly, we have a dozen new helps for clearly understanding what the New Testament is saying. As you read this book, expect to see the New Testament opened to you as you never imagined. The change is profound.

This is a easily read, important work on understanding the New Testament through rearranging your reading of the letters historically and chronologically. While some readers might quibble about certain details/dates or whether James was written earlier It should not cause anyone to neglect the importance of understanding the context of the New Testament letters as a whole. The author does a good job of staying on a laymen's level while incorporating what was happening in Rome/the Roman empire, Israel and in the church each year of the Book of Acts and let's you know when in that background reading you should then read each N.T. letter to understand what they were writing about/the issues they were facing. While many will say they already understand this, you should still read the book rather than think you know what he is saying/this method of study.

Edwards has a hostel attitude towards the modern day church, I should say in the form it is in. His understanding on Eph 4:11 describing the 5 fold ministry is in my opinion off base because he sees them as people and not as gifts. However with that said I thought the historic layout of the first 70 to 90 years of church history is a great read and I would recommend this book to any Bible student who already has a solid biblical foundation.
