Revenge is a story of treachery and betrayal... Mark McNamara is a lying, cheating adulterer who will stop at nothing to get what he wants, but is he being framed for a crime he did not commit? Somebody has plotted to kill the women with whom he was intimately involved and all the evidence points to Mark. Nothing will stop the pursuit of justice and nobody is off limits, so who is the true mastermind behind the extraordinary cover up?
The fantastic sequel to Unfaithfully Yours was every bit as engaging as the first book and had me hooked from the beginning with the telling emails between a man called 'Devil's Revenge' and a woman named 'assassin hire' as they plotted the devious murder of the same three women who had taken everything away from Mark McNamara and ruined his life in the process. It has the theme of revenge running through the stories and how this can destroy peoples lives with it being at the very core of both novels. This one focuses not so much on the ladies lives that we met in the original outing when Mark was having affairs left right and centre behind his poor wife Rebecca's back, but on his iron clad will to take back what he sees as rightfully his when the great plot and rapid pace of it races steadily towards a satisfying conclusion that I thought he surely deserved, at first. But then again, who is the mysterious man called Henry Whitington-Smyth that Mark claims to have met? Is he real or just made up by Mark to try and sway the jury into believing his arrogant plea of innocence in all this when it goes to trial and develops into a brilliant court room drama that had me turning the thrilling pages to discover the truth. And does Savanna (assassin hire) know more than she's letting on? All in all, it's a riveting read by Joanne Clancy with something of an intriguing mystery developing that leaves you wanting more of the same, so I can't wait for Web of Deceit which is the third book in the Unfaithful series to find out what happens next.
After reading this book, I can't wait for the next one. Savannah was a puzzle to figure out. Right from the gleam in her eye when Mark left her hotel room. The emailing that took place at the beginning of the story, seemed a little drawn out; but after getting down to the court proceedings it really brought the story together with all of the evidence. I enjoyed this story as much as the first.
I received a free download of "Revenge"(Unfaithful, Book 2)from the author, Joanne Clancy, in exchange for an honest review. This intriguing mystery has you glued to your seat to see what will happen next.I loved it.
In Unfaithfully Yours (Unfaithfull Series #1)is a story that follows four woman and a man. All four women have had a relationship with Mark-but only one, Rebecca, is married to him and has been for many years. The other women include Shona, her married sister Jackie and Penelope. Shona and Penelope band together to plan how to get back at Mark. They find an unlikely ally in his wife Rebecca!Together they plot their revenge. The cat was out of the bag. Life had got alot more complicated.
Revenge is the second book in the Unfaithful series.Mark wants his wife Rebecca and her new friends killed, as a result of his wealthy wife finding out about his numerous affairs, he has no intention of giving up his inheritance. He approaches an international organization on the internet, an assassin to carry out his dead.He wants his wife's death to look like a suicide given her fragile mental health. The other two targets are friends of Rebecca who work for her company, M & R Photography Ltd. The deaths must look like an accident!
The beginning of the book deals with the emails going back and forth between, "assassin_hire" (Savannah) and "devils-revenge" (Mark)-working out the deal.Savannah has an ex-lover, Daniel Williams who is there to assist her with the hit.But when things don't go as planned, people talk and Mark and Savannah are investigated and later arrested by the police. The latter part of the novel deals with the Trial.Would they have enough evidence to convict them? Did they have motive and opportunity to plan this conspiracy?
The characters were well developed and none of them will ever be the same after. They were scarred for life.
This was a fast paced novel and one that you can't put down. I can't wait to read the next book in the series, " Web of Deceit" (third book in the series, to be out in early 2013.
I can't wait for Web of Deceit which is the third book in the Unfaithful series to find out what happens next
I received a copy of Revenge from the author in exchange for an honest review.
After reading Unfaithfully Yours, I was alternately thrilled and concerned. I loved the ending of the book, and enjoyed the humiliation experienced by Mark. I was concerned only because 'not knowing' what happened after that left a lot to my imagination - and my imagination went to town!
With that being said, what actually happened in the following months and beyond, as I found out through reading Revenge. It was NOT how I had pictured it!
The book starts out with an email exchange between devils-revenge and Assassin_hire, where devils-revenge contracts with Assassin_hire to have three people killed. The three people devil's wants killed are Shona and Penelope - two of the women with whom Mark had an affair - and Rebecca, Mark's wife.
Things do not go as smoothly as planned, and Mark ends up in the court room where he fights for his freedom by defending his innocence in the murder plot. At a minimum, 8 lives will never be the same again!
I enjoyed watching Mark squirm, but Savannah confused me. The book actually left me with more questions than answers, so I look forward to the 3rd book in the installment to be released! I know there has to be more to her than meets the eye! I also enjoyed the court proceedings and seeing the differences between courts in Ireland and those here in the US.
Oh wow. This book had me on the edge of my seat. We pick up a little while after the first book, Unfaithfully Yours, with all of the women working together in the business and Mark is still there as the photographer whether any of them particularly like it or not. His wife had their baby boy and was recovering from depression. Someone put a hit out on the women right from the first chapter... Was it Mark who wants revenge for what was done to him and all that he has lost? Or is someone framing him for the attempted murders? This story starts with a bang and never slows down even near the end. As the reader you are left wondering if this was all really how things went down or if it is a grave misunderstanding and they need to find the culprit. We will have to wait until the third book to find out it seems.
The book was very good! Interesting and intriguing the whole way through! Can't wait for the next book in the set! Or her next book in general!! The author offered me a kindle copy of the book in exchange for an honest review and honestly I loved this one and am ready for the next one!
Another great read from author Joanne Clancy! I received a free ebook copy from the author, in exchange for my honest review. This story picks up where Unfaithfully Yours ended. I was immediately drawn in by the scandalous emails in the beginning, plotting the murder of Mark McNamara's wife and two friends, women he had had affairs with. You assume it is Mark himself, doing the plotting, but as the story unfolds, some doubt is thrown in. Eventually Mark and the assassin are found out and arrested, and the rest of the book deals with their trial. Justice is served, and the two are sentenced to jail. But, there are still some unanswered questions, which leaves you waiting in anticipation of the next book. I know I can't wait! Anyway, I really liked this second installment of the Unfaithful Series. Joanne Clancy writes in such a way as to keep you on the edge of your seat, and watching to see what happens next. Very hard to put down, I highly recommend this book!
I love the story line, character development, simple language, the way the story unfolds linking every character to Mark McNamara, the main character. However, I felt that parts of the book were quite repetitive like a recap of a TV series, except that the recap seemed to be sprinkled through out the book. I am someone who normally reads every word without skipping or skimming. However, I found myself skipping whole sections because of this repetitiveness. It somewhat took away from the thrill and enthusiasm to find out what happens next. Otherwise I would have rated it higher. This series is the first one I'm reading that was written by this author. I'm still reading The Web of Deceit. If I feel differently after finishing the series, I will revisit and edit my review. So far I do like it and look forward to reading more of her works.
I received a free ebook copy from the author, in exchange for my honest review. This story picks up where Unfaithfully Yours ended. I was on the edge of my seat just waiting to see what happened. The only thing that would have made me like the book more would be if some conversations between Rebecca, Shona, Jackie, and Penelope were added in during the trial so you got their view of what was going on, and how they were handling everything. The ending leaves you waiting in anticipation of the next book. I can't wait to read it!
