Vincent Leonard Price Jr. was an American actor best known for his performances in horror films, although his career spanned other genres, including film noir, drama, mystery, thriller, and comedy. He appeared on stage, television, and radio, and in more than 100 films. He has two stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, one for motion pictures, and one for television.
He was an art collector, and arts consultant, with a degree in art history, and he lectured and wrote books on the subject. The Vincent Price Art Museum at East Los Angeles College is named in his honor. He was also a noted gourmet cook.
A fab collection of BBC audio dramas! Vincent Price globetrots and meets up with old friends and new acquaintances and for some mysterious reason, terrible and terrifying experiences ensue! Some supernatural, most involving grisly murder. Price is — wait for it — priceless and the rest of the cast are also top notch. For the final stories, Price serves as narrator only and I found these episodes lacking as a result. But all in all, a terrific package with some surprisingly gruesome content!
A cheeky little selection of tales read by Vincent Price, with the assist of a couple of voice actors. These 4 stories play out as tales experienced by Vincent Price in his day to day life - as though the strange just happens to find him in his everyday existence. This reminded me of the sort of tales you’d get in… The Twilight Zone… but with the addition of Vincent Prices most wonderful and unique voice and mannerisms. Enjoyable throughout, although the last tale was far from hitting the mark.
Is this a book in any way? No. But I guess because it's on audible it's up here. So, five stars for this delightful, cozy, horror story anthology audio drama series hosted by Vincent Price, who, as host and star, has to do this hilarious thing where he pretends all these scary supernatural stories just happened to him in real life as he goes about his business being a famous and fancy and spooky person. A plus, no notes. A great time at the earbuds.
This is a wonderful collection of classic radio series The Price of Fear hosted by and featuring in several episodes the great Vincent Price. Supported by a wonderful cast including Peter Cushing and Edward Woodward among others, each tale is gothic horror and is wonderfully fearful. These episodes still hold up despite not being gory, though several tales are shocking for that era. The cast is superb and I love how Mr. Price is woven into many of the stories. A treat to listen to.
didn't listen to all the episodes but im done for now i think. listened to: remains to be seen, cat's cradle, lot 132, waxwork, fish, come as you are, specialty of the house, the ninth removal, out of the mouths, is anybody there.
I listened to the Audible collection of audio dramas, which includes 20 episodes. Delightfully dated, from BBC4 radio 1973-1983. Vincent Price introduces the stories as if the tales were told to him by people encountered during his travels around the world as a film star.
Listen to the whole of Price of Fear after listening to this from the library. It's worth a listening. A bit weird that Vincent Price always has to have connection. Also Vincent Price has ate human flesh according to this radio series.
Full cast drama horror anthology from 1974 narrated by Vincent Price.
This is an absolutely superb audio book featuring 4 chilling short stories. The first "Cat's Cradle" is a modern reworking of Bram Stoker's "The Squaw" - I didn't find it quite as menacing as the original story, but its still pretty chilling. The second tale has a man encounter a ghost at a fancy dress party. Then we get "Speciality of the House" a tale that might put you off fine dining for a while - what exactly is the exclusive restaurant's special? The last story "The Ninth Removal" by R.Chetwynd-Hayes has a nifty sting in the tail twist that I totally didn't see coming.
Price is an excellent narrator and this kept me spellbound for its full two hour run time. Classic old school horror, just right for curling up in front of the fire on a cold winter's night.
Prior to his death in 1993, Vincent Price was collaborating with Mr. Joel Eisner,Eisner did a wonderful job with this book as well as Black Bed Sheets.com promoting the book. I truly enjoyed it ,and found out a few new things about Vincent Price himself. There are details about VP's life as well as behind the scenes of many of the movies he stared in.I love the fact that the font was easy to read and the photograph section is to die for. All fans of the Great Icon Vincent Price should have this book in their library .It is a priceless peek into the life of one of the most prolific actors in classic horror.
