J. M. Hunter had signed the order for Joey’s apartment building to be torn down. Every time Joey tried to get into the Hunter building to see the lawyer to plead their case she could never get past the guard. Now, almost a year later, she was still homeless and working at a dead in job trying to save up enough money to get an apartment, one with heat, as well as electricity. Instead, she had to save Jesse’s mom from dying in a fire and have the shit beat out of her by someone while doing it.
Jesse couldn’t understand why the woman wouldn’t just shut up and do what he told her to do. It wasn’t as if he was trying to hurt her, but she had saved his mom, and it was the least he could to do make sure she had a job and a place to live. Of course, it had been pointed out to him several times already that he could have asked, but his way was much quicker.
Joey wanted to knock the man on his ass every time he opened his mouth. She had hit him a couple of times, once to shove his nuts up around his ears, and the second time to break his nose. But the man just didn’t seem to understand the word no.
But when someone shot at her and killed her friend she had no choice but to let the powerful Hunters help her. It was that, or she’d be dead the next time the loony woman at the fire came gunning for her.
Then her grandmother came around welding her cane like it was an extension of her arm and accusing her of beating her. Joey had had just about enough of her when Jesse told her he was marrying her. Things should have been wonderfully tied up, but they seemed to be getting worse until she figured out she loved him. And she did.
Jesse Hunter is a good man but he is a little stubborn. Joey Foster is a lovely wonderful woman who is a great deal stubborn. Together they could be amazing…but would they ever get that far?
Jesse, the third book in the Hunter Series and a love story for all time.

I liked the story I wish joey would stop saying no to him and just commit. Half way through the book she kept being wishy washy I wanted to slap her for being to damn stubborn but in a way she was okay. Jesse was very demanding but he had his way of being kinda sweet about it, next book will be the last one so sad I need more.

'Jesse' is Kathi S. Barton's third book in her "Hunter" series. This one has a couple of crazies involved within the book and it's filled not only with enemies to lover storyline but murder and mayhem along the way. *shaking my head here* Jesse really doesn't fare much better than his brother Royce as far as patience, manners, and personality in the beginning. There's a BIG reason Joey wants nothing to do with J. M. Hunter or any of the Hunters, and Mr. Bigshot, large ego, and even bigger mouth don't make things any better. These are strong characters with even stronger emotions, so watching everything they go through was rather exciting before getting their happy ending. And if you've been following the series then you know Daniel has been sitting on the sidelines thinking Annamarie is going to leave him alone as she meddled with his brothers. It's his turn next and I can't wait.

Normally when you save someones life you get the opportunity to thank the person but Jesse Hunter is having a difficult time thanking Joey Foster. Joey has an axe to grind with the Hunters, she had tried multiple times to talk to them after an eviction notice left her and other tenants reeling.

Joey is used to taking care of herself, she doesn't need anyone's pity especially Jesse. Jesse though has decided his attraction to Joey just isn't going to go away and when her she becomes the continual target in an attempt to kill her, Jesse plans to keep her safe and by his side even if she fights him along the way.

I liked this one, Jesse is perplexed by Joey and it leads to some sizzling chemistry An excellent series to pick up.

Jesse & Joey are probably my favorite couple of all the Hunters =)

Josephine, or Joey as she likes to be called, hasn't had it easy in life. Growing up with parents who sometimes forgot they had a kid then losing them and living with a grandmother who treated her no better than a maid has made her an independent woman. Even though she's evicted from her home by a J.M. Hunter, and is now living wherever she can she's determined to make her own way. But rescuing 2 women from a burning building has put her face to face with J.M. Hunter and she can't seem to shake the feeling she starts to develop for him.

**"He wanted Josephine here right now so that he could explain a few things to her. And maybe talk her into not hurting him again if he took her to his bed."**

Jesse Hunter is a playboy. He's determined he's never going to get married, no matter how much his mother tries to match him up. But when confronting the woman who rescued his mother he can't understand the feeling stirring within him that make him basically talk neanderthal and mess up. Even when she kicks his balls around his ears! But Jesse has to convince Joey he loves her and wants to marry her for who she is and protect her from a killer as well as her returning grandmother determined to bring Joey down.

These two characters will probably always hold a special place in my heart. Joey is such and independent woman and has had a rough upbringing, but she never let that bring her down. She's determined to prove that she can make her way in a world determined to see her fail. But when she loves, she loves Jesse and the Hunter's with her full heart and doesn't let them settle for anything less than they deserve.

**"And what's wrong with you being president? Nothing. You don't aim for the middle ring when the top one is open to you."**

I've been going back and doing a reread and I don't know how I have missed the many inconsistencies in this book!
There's a time when the mother is speaking with her sons when Joey first goes to the hospital. At first she's talking to Daniel and Jesse. Then she's talking to Curtis at the same moment. When the heck did he come into the room? Then Curtis supposedly stays behind to speak to Joey, yet the mother is speaking to him...okay...I think there may have been a mix-up between names.
The other big one is after Joey gets back the hospital after being shot at, and she's staying at Jesse's house. Before Jesse mentioned he didn't have a cook because he enjoys cooking for himself. He does have a housekeeper (who is a she). But then when Joey wakes up he has a male housekeeper and a cook...
Again, I think the author may have forgotten what she had wrote previously or maybe forgot to mention he hired extra help?

Jessi Hunter doesn't understand why the young women who saved his mother gets defensive when she finds out their name. All he wants to do is thank her and she wants nothing to do with them especially him. Attracted to her despite her resistance, he makes it his mission to make her like him and give him a chance to repay her. Joey can't believe her good dead came back and bit her in the butt. The person who made her homeless was standing if front of her barking out orders and she just wanted to punch him. This was a fun story, Joey and Jessi are evenly matched when it comes to stubbornness and Jessie just can't help giving orders when he should be asking, causing some very humorous situations. Each story gives you a better look inside the Hunter family and you become more and more caught up in what is going on. Some interesting twists come to play and we are introduced to some new characters and get to see some well known ones again too. I just love how the stories intertwine. I look forward to reading about Daniel as he is going to be a hard case for Mrs. Hunter to match up.

I received a copy of the book from the author for an honest review. I have not read the first 2 in the series but was able to follow along with the characters and feel a connection as to what this was all about.
Joey is homeless and while at the place she calls a temporary home, she smells smoke and finds 2 women stuck in a smoke filled building. Trying to help one of the ladies whom we find out later is Jesse’s mom, Joey is attacked by the other woman and taken to the hospital.
Jesse has no idea why this woman will not listen to him. He really only wants to get to know her better but seems to keep screwing that up. Can Joey ever trust anyone after all of the damage she has had happen to her thanks to the hands of her own Grandmother? Who is out to get her? Will she ever be a part of a family that will love her unconditionally?
I love Ms. Barton’s stories. She is entertaining, has characters you will adore, and can write a story that will make you laugh and cry all in the same setting. I dare you to not become addicted to any of her series.

Jesse

Jesse Hunter couldn’t believe that someone had tried to kill his mother. When he heard about the young woman who had saved her, he wanted to get down on his knees and kiss her feet.
Unfortunately when he met her, he became just like all the others. A real a-hole.
Joey has had a rough life. Lost her parents, had to live with an abusive grandmother, and then got thrown out of her apartment by the Hunter’s when they bought her building.
Naturally there are all kinds of explosions. Jesse soon realizes that he is in love with Joey.
However, there is still a threat or two surrounding Joey.
Will they be able to stop the person involved, and how will they combat her grandmother when she shows up accusing Joey of abuse?
This is a fantastic story, and no one tells it better than Kathi S Barton.
