Brock Parker is a search-and-rescue patrolman who works to save avalanche victims. His work takes him around the world and now he’s currently working in Aurora, Alaska, training two puppies to be avalanche search dogs. Anya Petrova needs help with her very timid dog, Dolce, who was formerly abused before Anya rescued her, so she seeks help from Brock since she’s heard that he is good with dogs. Eventually Anya helps Brock with the pups he’s training, Sherlock and Aspen, and the two become close.

This was such a wonderful inspirational romance. Both Anya and Brock were extremely likable. I simply adored the three dogs--Dolce, Sherlock (who really took a liking to Anya), and Aspen. It was interesting to learn about avalanche search-and-rescue and the training of avalanche search dogs. And the snowy Alaskan setting provided the perfect backdrop for the story.

Remember the first time you heard someone say, "If you fall off a horse, get right back on as soon as possible?" Well, this is what Anya needs to do as she starts to resolve a prior relationship gone sour. But she needs something or someone to help push her towards that mark...Brock Parker just happens to be living in her town when she needs help with a "fraidy-cat dog". He works with canine rescuers and knows all about training dogs...and maybe even people! But he is gun-shy himself and can't seem to settle down in one place. Will either one of them make progress on their journey? Read this cute story and find out how God works in their lives.

ALASKAN HERO is the perfect title for a story built around snow, skiing and dogs. Aurora is a small ski town in Alaska which brings native born, Anya into contact with Brock, a search-and-rescue dog trainer. Their initial attraction to each other helps each of them to overcome past personal problems and learn to embrace their developing love. I loved the Reindeer Race concept! This is a good, clean romance perfect for the beginning reader.

Enjoyable, inspirational romance.

I received this book for free through a Goodreads.com First Reads Giveaway.

I enjoyed this book. The characters were well developed and very easy to connect with. The descriptions of the dogs antics were very amusing. I will pulling for the two main characters to figure things out between them throughout the story.

From the first page, I was drawn into the town of Aurora, Alaska and into the lives of Anya and Brock. The characters come alive with Teri's attention to detail and the unique traits she gives them. Wonderful story! Looking forward to finding the first book!

Setting: ALASKA
This book was chosen for my challenge to read clean fiction books across the 50 states. I loved everything about this book. I loved the setting, the snow, the characters and the growth of the characters. I also liked the Christian threads as the characters grew in their faith/beliefs of God working in their lives to heal them of past wounds. It was also cool to learn how they train ski patrols and their dogs for rescuing avalanche victims. Sweet, fun love inspired romance.

Super cute. Would've liked a little more character development and more detail on their relationship building, but it's a cute fluffy romance novel. Plus, it has dogs!
Note- I'm not religious so I can't speak much to that part of it.

I thought this would be a pretty boring cheap romance novel, but I ended up really enjoying it. I think mainly because of the setting. The main character works at a coffee shop (and makes the best coffee in town) in a hotel of a small Alaskan town.

Loved it. 2nd book in the series, although I read it out of order. Great characters and setting. Wonderful attention to detail. Can't wait to get started on the next. Glad this is a series.

I would actually rate this book a 3 1/2...not quite a 4. This book was a quick, fun read,a great vacation read. I enjoyed the setting in Alaska.

A fun, quick read! The storyline was good, and filled with events, not just tons of dialog. The characters were well written, and their behavior was realistic. The romance aspect was paced well and believable, aside from the abrupt finish. Definitely worth reading again.

Alaskan Wilderness
Book 2

In Teri Wilson's second Love Inspired book, she writes about a man who survived a terrible ordeal involving his family and now cannot settle down. The snow is his enemy, and he feels he must fight it. The best way to do this is to go around the world training people and dogs to help with avalanche survival. He is currently in Auora and he meets a woman. He never planned on ever settling down, and the love of a woman would cause him to do just that.

Anya Petrova should have known she was in trouble when she met Brock Parker for the first time. He wore a bear outfit, which he claimed was for teaching the avalanche rescue dogs socialization. Anya has a dog that is so terrified that he won't come out from under the bed, and when she's gone he howls. She'll be evicted if she doesn't do something fast.

The romance was sweet and even though I saw the conflict coming (near the end of the book) from a mile away, I still enjoyed reading about it. I thought the book was sweet. And I enjoyed reading more about Clementine and Ben's romance.

There's only one thing that bothered me. I couldn't help but wonder about Anya's dog. At one point, she said it was the first time he'd been out from under her bed or out of her room in a year. She even fed him under the bed...so how did this dog go to the bathroom? I just couldn't help wondering about that...Guess it's not something you really explain in a romance novel, but there you go...

Anyway, the book was sweet.

This was not only a good story well told, but also the best inspirational romance I've yet read. The heroine's faith went deeper than vague feel-good lip service. I understood the strength she gained from her faith and we get concrete examples. When her mother and the hero attend church, they also seem to gain more than a vague feel-good inspiration, though we don't get as much detail on their experience, and it isn't necessary. The heroine's turning to God in extreme crisis is also much deeper than mere begging in prayer. Wonderful job, Teri Wilson!

The story was good but the writing was lacking. Anya and her relationship with the Lord seemed as more of an afterthought than an integral part of the story. Same with Brock. Don't like to be too critical but not sure I would recommend this one.

Really enjoyed this book about training dogs to find avalanche victims. Brock works to train avalanche teams and the dogs they use. Anya fixes a mean cup of coffee. Together they learn that they are never alone. God is always with them.
