I loved this book! A bomber had his sights set on Darby who was a counselor. Rafe was a detective. He didn’t like any counselor’s. Darby, and Rafe saw each other in court often, and they were on opposite side.
The suspense was intense. Just when I thought I had the plot figured out, the story twisted in another direction.
I loved the way Rafe treated Darby. He was always so tentative, and caring. The romance melted my heart. This book was also very emotional. Rafe was dealing with his wife being murdered. Darby was dealing with her fear of dark places. She had falling into a well when she was little leaving her terrified of dark places. Together Rafe, and Darby helped each other. Spending time with each other you could slowly see their hearts being healed. This was a beautiful story, with action, villains, and romance. This will be added to my read again list!

Darby turned back around to try to stand so she could steer the boat. She gasped in horror and lunged for the steering wheel. Too late. The shallow marsh rushed up to meet them. The hull of the boat hit the muddy ground with a sickening crunch and stuck, tossing the back of the boat skyward. The force of the impact catapulted Darby, Rafe, and the other man into the air. Darby screamed and threw her hands out, bracing for impact. She landed with a squishy thud, her momentum rolling her over onto her back. Her head hit the ground so hard she thought she heard her teeth rattle.

When Ralf’s lips moved against hers, heat shot through her from the top of her head to the soles of her feet. How could he make her feel cherished and treasured and make her crave him with an intensity that was frightening, all at the same time?
