I read this years ago and honestly always really liked it! I think it's a really sweet story involving realistic characters and heartwarming moments. I loved the old man that she befriends as he really looks out for her and she grows so much throughout the book with his help. Her emotions are well explored and I liked the contrast between the cultures and relationships she had on land and in the sea. She felt mystical yet still relatable.
