Thrown into another world where dangerous creatures live and rule, will Wesley stay and find love with a vampire, or will the terrors of an unknown realm have him running home?

On a camping trip in Louisiana, Wesley finds himself sucked down a hidden portal and thrown into another realm where he meets Remus, a warrior vampire. With the help of Remus, Wesley embarks on an adventure to find his way home, back to a world not filled with vampires and dragons and magic folk. Along his journey, the handsome vampire finds his way into Wesley’s heart. But will his love for Remus overcome his fears of the creatures that reign in this world?

Remus has never wanted a man before, but finds himself drawn to Wesley despite his denying efforts. He’s happy with his life as the commander of the vampires, and has had no interest in finding a mate. But after Wesley is kidnapped, Remus discovers his feelings for the man are stronger than he thought. Is he strong enough, though, to honour Wesley’s wish to return home, and let go of the man he loves?

Hey everyone, I'm Jen and I'm an author of M/M erotic romance. I love M/M romance, both reading and writing it - seriously, what's better than a sexy man...two sexy men! You can't go wrong there. ;) Though I do dabble in a little bit of M/F romance, my main passion will always be smutting it up with men, men, and more men. I try to dedicate as much of my free time to writing as I can (ha! what free time?), but if I’m not typing away on my laptop, you’ll find me with my nose buried in a book, or with my loving fiance debating on what movie to watch and the never ending back and forth decision of what to have for dinner. I love spending time with my family and fiance, cuddling with my dog and two cats, and laughing as much as possible (cuz I like to think I'm funny :-D).

Some little tidbits about me are – I love animals of all sorts, I have a really big sweet-tooth, and I've been told I like to talk with my hands (insert hand gestures here).

Wow! I’ve read a lot of paranormal stories in the past few years, but I have to say that Pavarus by Jennifer Wright is one of my favorites I’ve ever read. In my opinion, it had a very fresh read on a well-used storyline and the characters in this book were all interesting, unique people who I found myself really caring about.

The blurb does an outstanding job at describing the story, so I won’t rehash a lot of it. Wesley has been talked into going on a camping trip with his current boyfriend and some of his boyfriend’s friends. To say that Wesley isn’t enjoying himself is an understatement. He’s not an outdoorsy type of guy and is really beginning to question his relationship with his boyfriend when through an interesting turn of events he suddenly finds himself waking in another world, surrounded by some very sexy, dangerous men.

Wesley totally feels like he’s out of his element. The men/warriors are fighting against monsters and although one of the men in particular, Remus, really fascinates him, he starts to immediately question what’s real and what could possibly be a dream. In the world he’s awakened too, there are many similarities between Earth and this place they call Pavarus. When Remus rescues Wesley and he is taken to a gothic looking castle, Wesley can’t help but be both fascinated and afraid by the situation he finds himself in. All of the warriors are kind to him, but the one person who intrigues him the most is Remus. But what can he do with his deep attraction toward the sexy Remus? After all, Wesley does not belong there and feels more and more homesick every day. Plus, there’s something odd about his rescuers and it’s obvious that there’s something Remus is hiding about himself to Wesley, and although Wesley starts feeling more than just friendship toward Remus, there is something that holds him back from completely giving his heart to him.

Remus doesn’t know what to do about Wesley. The human isn’t like anyone he’s every met before and the intense physical and emotional connection he feels toward Wesley is confusing to him. After all, he’s never been attracted to a man before. How can he be so drawn to the helpless male human? Allowing his head overrule his heart, Remus starts seeking out ways for Wesley to return home, but as the two men wait for possible information to get Wesley home, they start falling in love. Despite Remus’s best efforts he soon loses his heart to the sexy Wesley, but continues to be afraid of his feelings and what Wesley will do when he really finds out the truth of who he is.

Both Remus and Wesley were characters I really loved getting to know. They’re both stubborn and sometimes don’t always think before they act, but the respect, friendship and love they have for each other was very addictive to read. Both men are torn by their feelings for each other and as well as knowing that their love will possibly be short lived, due to Wesley needing to return home. I also loved the bond between them and thought the love scenes were very sexy, passionate and even romantic at times.

I also thought the other realm this author created was very unique and well written. I found myself becoming as fascinated with Pavarus as Wesley was. I also loved the paranormal aspect of the book (read it and find out what it is) and thought the secondary characters brought a lot to the story as well.

This was also a one-tissue read for me. There was an event in particular that really broke my heart as well as the outcome from it. But even though this was a tear-jerker for me at times, there are also some very lighthearted, funny moments in this as well. I thought the author did an excellent job at writing a dramatic, paranormal romance without it being bogged down with too much angst. Between the romance, action, mystery and adventure, Pavarus is one of my favorite paranormal books I’ve read this year. Since this is the first book in a series, I’m anxious to read more about these characters and the interesting lives they lead. Highly Recommended!

Nature boy is about the last thing Wesley could be accused of being, so it confounds even him why he agreed to this trip with Tony. Their leisurely trip down the river turns into a nightmare. One that Wes is not sure he will ever wake from.

The scent of a human is always sweet to a vampire, yet nothing has ever smelled as good to Remus as the little blonde man they find in the forest. Staying alive is a priority, however, especially with Dráguns infesting the area.

Falling down Alice’s rabbit hole could not be freakier than what Wes is experiencing right now, although the man protecting him has his blood singing. Remus feels extremely drawn to Wes, and not only for his blood, yet when that blood is spilled, it is Remus who must make a split second decision to keep Wes alive. The days in Remus’s care change Wes’s life forever, which makes the thought of going home incredibly bitter-sweet. Wes does not belong on Pavarus, with its crazy population of vampires, dragons, and witches, but leaving Remus will likely crush his heart.

The highs and lows for the characters in this story are exhilarating, excruciating, and every emotion in between. There is so much more going on than a love affair between Wes and Remus as every character who enters the scene feels like they have a story to tell. It really adds a layer of complexity for the reader to get little snippets of the other lives circulating throughout this storyline. This series will be one to watch for any vampire and M/M book lover.

This was a fun read. There is angst in the story but it really adds to the overall drama of the story. The characters were entertaining and the storyline interesting.

Wes is a “city boy” and has no use for being in nature. He is a bit whiney. Remus was a good character but about halfway through his whole attitude changes. This is a big issue. Remus’s character change was a little too abrupt and overwhelming. I thought between the two men there were times it was a little too much with the drama. They don’t seem to talk but they are in love? This makes no sense.

The author creates a very interesting world with unique characters. The plot is interesting but the author made the whole premise of the story be undermined at the end. It leaves me as a reader wondering what the heck was up with the whole of the story. It wasn’t the best of plot techniques. I will admit the rest of the story is interesting and makes me want to read more.

Overall the story was entertaining but not a well written story. I think I will still read the next one because the other characters’ stories are interesting to me. I would like to see where the author will take them with the hope that the writing improves in future books.

I have to say I am a kind of vampire story junkie, so I was excited to read a new-to-me author’s take on the vampire genre. I have read so many vampire stories I didn’t think I could be surprised any longer, but Jennifer Wright has proven me wrong. Not only did I find the universe she created unique, but I loved the villains in this story also. This is the first book in the series, so there was some world building, but it was done so well I didn’t feel that I was being bombarded with detail after detail I had to memorize to understand the story. The author also set up the next books in the series very well and gave us some of the history of the next couples ahead of time in this book.

I highly recommend this book and I am very anxious to read the next book in the series and the next and the next and the next!

Let me start by confessing that Jen Wright, the author of Pavarus, is a good friend of mine. Furthermore, I received my copy of the book as a prize in a giveaway at her blog. So of course, I am predisposed toward offering a positive review of this M/M paranormal romance, the first volume in Jen's Finding Home series.

If I hadn't liked Pavarus, I wouldn't have taken the time to review it. However, I did enjoy the book, quite a lot. I'm quite certain I would have felt the same way even if the author had been a total stranger.

Wesley is a short, cute, definitely urban gay man. Despite his youthful and innocent appearance, he's had plenty of sexual partners, but he still hasn't found a guy he wants to settle down with – certainly not Tony, his current boyfriend. Nevertheless, Tony manages to convince Wes to join him on a camping and canoeing trip. Wesley's canoe tumbles over an unexpected falls. The next thing he knows, he's in the middle of a battle between men who look like medieval warriors and honest-to-goodness fire-breathing dragons. He knows he's not in Kansas anymore, but he's not sure where he has ended up. His view of the world is warped still further when he discovers that Remus, the broad shouldered, muscular hunk who saves him from one of the dragons, is a vampire.

Remus, commander of the realm's warriors and second in power only to the vampire sire Keddrick, doesn't understand why he's so drawn to the fair-haired human. It's more than the sweet smell of his blood, though all the warriors seem to find Wesley's scent intoxicating. When Remus is forced to claim Wesley as his mate in order to save him from being ravished by the other vampires, the connection between the two of them only becomes stronger. But Wesley wants to return to earth and Remus has sworn to help him – even if he breaks his own heart in the process.

I'll admit that when I first read the blurb for this book, I had my doubts about the premise. An alternate reality, populated by vampires and dragon shifters? Jennifer Wright makes it work, though. One reason is the vividly drawn characters – not just the heroes Remus and Wesley but also the ancillary characters: charming, nurturing Eveen and her valiant mate Aliam, Remus' loyal second in command; tortured half-breed Zane, fighting to prove he's as tough as any full-blooded vampire; Zane's close friend Larken, desperately in love with Zane but suspecting that his feelings will never be returned; wise, mysterious and regal Keddrick, who rules the vampires with discipline, courage and compassion. They're all very real, and I gather that many of them get their own stories (and loves) in later books of the series.

Then there's the sex. (You knew I'd get to that, right?) Pavarus isn't awash with sex scenes. Remus and Wesley don't actually experience intercourse until two thirds of the way through the book. The tension between them, the near-irresistible attraction, builds gradually, torturing them both, since both men are convinced (for different reasons) that they should not be lovers. When they finally do get around to doing the deed, the results are predictably but deliciously incandescent.

One fun aspect of writing paranormal romance is that you add a bit of magic to the sexual connection. Paranormal lust can be more powerful and all-consuming than real world desire. You can toss in some telepathy, so that sex becomes a joining of minds and spirits as well as bodies. The extrasensory aspects of making love to your destined soul mate serve to heighten and refine the physical sensations. Of course one can have an experience of communion even in a realistic novel, but a paranormal setting makes the whole thing more believable. When Remus and Wesley finally come together, you can't help but believe they're fated to be lovers.

The book does have a tendency to repeat words during the clinches. I'm sure that as an author, I notice this more than the average reader. Aside from this minor flaw, the sex scenes in Pavarus are intense, both emotionally and physically. Also, despite my comments above about magical license in paranormal novels, the sex in this novel has some delightfully realistic touches. I particularly enjoyed Remus' reluctance and confusion the first time he and Wesley have penetrative sex. Normally, Remus plays the dominant role in their relationship, but in this scene the tables are turned. Remus is afraid and unsure. The far more knowledgeable Wes, on the other hand, is self-assured, even a bit cocky (no pun intended). The whole scene felt extremely plausible. A man who has never had any homoerotic experience is naturally going to be nervous, just like any other virgin.

Possibly the best aspect of the novel, though, is its vivid portrayal of Remus' and Wesley's suffering when they are parted. I don't want to give away the ending. I'll just say that I really felt the agony of their separation. Which of course made their ultimate reunion all the more satisfying.

If you like M/M paranormal romance with complex interactions and authentic emotion, I think you'll enjoy Pavarus.

Now I'm going to have to read the next two books in the series.

Pavarus is the first book in the series...Finding Home by Jennifer Wright!

Wesley was immersed into a world of dangerous creatures that reside. Now he must decide to either stay and try to survive and possibly find love with a vampire but will the terror of this realm make him run for his life. Remus a warrior vampire meets the beautiful Wesley who has been thrown into his hidden realm. With the guided help of Remus, now Wesley is trying to find the way back to a place that has no vampires and deadly creatures. Along the journey, Wesley starts having feelings for the beautiful and sexy vampire but will his love for him be enough to survive this new world of danger!

Remus is very happy with his life and not even looking for a man or a mate as he is very content as the commander of the vampires. Something in Wesley wakes up feelings in Remus that he thought were long gone and no longer apart of his life. Once Wesley disappears, Remus now realizes how much this the beautiful man means to him. Now Remus must choose between his desires and love for Wesley or to let him return home and never see Wesley again.

I loved how Remus protected Wesley from the entire coven once he cuts his finger as the other vampires are out for the sweet scent of blood that drips from Wesley and even Remus is having a hard time resist. So now it's up to Remus to claim Wesley as his mate in order to save him from being devoured by the blood thirsty coven. Wesley is shocked that he has done this as now they're connected forever and for a vampire that is a very long time. Once Wesley is kidnapped and nearly raped and left for dead, both men now realize that they have fallen in love. Will their love be enough to survive the blood thirsty enemies?

I so enjoyed the writing style of the author, Jennifer Wright very much and the unique world she created with vampires, dragons and all the creepy creatures in her realm. Her detailed writing of the characters was so spot on that I felt that I knew them. She really knows how to set the stage for high intensity scenes with beautiful men and the love between Wesley and Remus was so beautifully written that the reader will want more and more of these men. The great news is that the author sets up the stage for the next book and I for one can't wait. I highly recommend this novel, Pavarus by Jennifer Wright for anyone who loves reading about vampires, danger, hot men, blood thirsty creatures and beautiful man on man love!!!!

Ok this one is difficult. I did like the idea of the story and the setting was very interesting and enjoyable.
But there are also quite a few things I did not especially like about this book.
The main character Wes is thrown through some kind of black hole and lands on another planet during a camping trip. He is found by a bunch of Vampires who take him to their coven.
Very fast he falls in love with Remus the commander of the Vampires.
While it is easy to accept that he is attracted to Remus I really did never get why in the world Remus would like him (apart from his "delicate small figure" and "attractive sweet smelling blood").
For me Wes is a whining brat who does not know what he wants, dumps his boyfriend at home in an instant by pushing him out of his door without even talking to him and acts really shitty in other situations. Wes gets a lot from Remus, but he does not give anything (apart from letting Remus fuck him), in a relationship there should be equal partners but I do not see Wes being that at all, he needs to be saved all the time, does not know what he wants and does not contribute anything to the relationship.
For example (attention big spoiler ahead!!!!) .
Another problem for me was that the book tries to tell a lot of stories at the same time, you not only follow the main characters but also many of the others and what sounds nice as an idea does not work out in the book - it is distracting and even though some of the stories are interesting and will probably be continued in the following books, I did not like all the hints and loose ends...

I considered reading the second part to see where the story goes, but after reading the storyline, I decided to put this away and look for some other Vampire story.
The book is an easy read and don`t get me wrong it is definitely not bad, but for me it was not really convincing, so I would give it 3 stars.

Pavarus is the first book in the Finding Home series. The setting is a world very much like Earth, with the exception of magical creatures, as well as the lack of modern technology. The characters are creditable. Wesley appears to be snarky and hard to appease; however this is a shield to hide his fears. Beneath the displayed attitude, Wesley is a lovable man, who is easily hurt. Wesley’s desire to return to his home in Baton Rouge, Louisiana stems from his fear of rejection by Remus. Nothing could be further from the truth; Remus did not realize how lonely he was until he met Wesley. Although Remus had not considered having a mate prior to meeting Wesley, he did recognize there was an immediate attraction between them. Besides the budding romance, the plot illustrates battles between the vampires and dragons, along with the revelations of some long kept secrets.

Jennifer Wright’s Pavarus is an impressive saga I found both intriguing and enjoyable. I look forward to the next episode.

I really enjoyed this book. The alternate world of Pavarus is cold and violent, but Remus and Wesley steam it up with highly passionate love scenes. I was taken with Remus from the moment he claimed his mate. He is the perfect alpha vamp with a heart and very protective of his unexpected love for Wesley. As well, the secondary characters were brought into the story just enough to make us the reader care about them and want to know more of their stories as well. For a debut novel I believe Jennifer Wright has solidified herself as an m/m paranormal author to definitely watch. I look forward to reading the second book in the Finding Home Series Morvea and eagerly await the consecutive books to follow.

I read it backwards after about Ch. 4 and don't feel like I missed anything.

During a camping trip he doesn't want to be on, Wesley is flung into another world. His attempts to adjust and still find a way back home consume his thoughts, as does Remus, the vampire who fights his attraction for Wes.

Wright gives the readers well-defined characters, layered plot, suspense, and a hot, gay love story. When Wesley is slurped into another time/place/universe (neither he nor we are exactly sure of his new setting), he can't begin to suspect what awaits him, least of all a new love and oddly familiar new world. Embarking on an experience that would change his life in a myriad of ways, Wes balances the yearning to return home and the desire to develop his love. If you are looking for passionate, explicit sex, interesting characters, and suspenseful plot, then you need to read Wright's first novel-hopefully the first of many!

The creation of an unknown parallel world is simply marvelous here! I know it seems strange to mention that before the characters and romance, but it was so original, creative, and totally captivating. The story is compelling and I thoroughly enjoyed Wright's writing. Can't wait to dive into the sequel!

Couldn't finish this.
There were multiple issues for me: almost childlike behaviour by Wes (no idea if that resolves later on but I couldn't wait long enough); gratuitous (in my opinion) violence and overblown fantasy themes. I just couldn't carry on after about 45%.
I wanted to like this book, because the blurb interested me and I hoped for more from it and for a good series, but I won't be buying book 2.

A good paranormal romance. I would have rated it higher if I had read it a few years ago. Maybe I'm jaded, but it was just another vampire romance for me. I've BTDT and while this was good, it didn't stand apart from the rest. It did do a very good job of setting up the next book and I have to admit I'm intrigued to find out what will happen. I'm not going to rush to get the next book, but I'll keep it in mind if/when I get the urge to read another vampire book.

I'm really not impressed with the world Jennifer Wright created in this new series. Pavarus, the planet to which Wesley is thrown into, is harsh, dark and cold. In this story there isn't a character that is interesting. I'm really disappointed with this starting book. So generally, in my humble opinion, is this storyline idiotic, unattractive and nearly point black boring.
