Slayde's got the best job on he's a nanny to Army nurse and widow Mindy's three kids. He's been with the family since the oldest was born and is Uncle Slayde to all three children. When Mindy's deployed, things aren't easy, but he manages just fine. At least he does until Mindy's big brother Drake shows up unexpectedly, announcing he's there to help while Mindy is gone.

Drake is almost a stranger to the kids, hot as hell, especially in his motorcycling leathers, and straighter than straight. On top of that, Drake's not used to dealing with kids, with things like gluten free, recycling and not eating fast food and soon has Slayde's tight routine in shambles.

Slayde thinks Drake is far more of a hindrance than a help, at least at the start, but he tries to get along for Mindy's sake and eventually, having Drake around is easier than not. But what's he supposed to do when the straight, sexy leather wearing ex-cop makes a pass at him one night? Maybe there's more to Drake than Slayde assumed.

Sean Michael

Often referred to as "Space Cowboy" and "Gangsta of Love" while still striving for the moniker of "Maurice," Sean Michael spends his days surfing, smutting, organizing his immense gourd collection and fantasizing about one day retiring on a small secluded island peopled entirely by horseshoe crabs. While collecting vast amounts of vintage gay pulp novels and mood rings, Sean whiles away the hours between dropping the f-bomb and persuing the kama sutra by channeling the long lost spirit of John Wayne and singing along with the soundtrack to "Chicago."

A long-time writer of complicated haiku, currently Sean is attempting to learn the advanced arts of plate spinning and soap carving sex toys.

Barring any of that? He'll stick with writing his stories, thanks, and rubbing pretty bodies together to see if they spark.

Don't read this if kids aren't your thing and if you want page after page filled with smutty sex!

I personally LOVE kids and Sean Michael did another fantastic job of writing a highly realistic story about what life with them is like: chaotic, loud, exhausting, cute and totally worth it. That's something very rare in M/M stories. Another thing I loved was that there wasn't much sex in the book. Hell, there wasn't any in the first half of the book. I had no idea Sean Michael could even do that ;)

Slayde had been looking after Drake's sister's kids ever since they were born and when big macho Drake showed up, he got a little territorial. Drake had a lousy childhood and ended up being his sister's protector. He couldn't believe that someone who wasn't related to them would be as invested in her children as he was. So at first they were very much at odds with each other. Reading about them slowly starting to appreciate each other and then falling in love while dealing with the everyday tasks of looking after three little kids was very sweet. In the end Drake realized that there's more than shared genes to being a family and that the closet is a very lonely place.

Slayde was a nanny for Mindy's three little kids. When Mindy, an Army nurse, was deployed to Afghanistan, Slayde became a temporary legal guardian for the kids since Mindy's husband had died several years back. Things were okay until Drake, Mindy's brother, showed up and they became awkward. Drake was a cop who resigned from his post in California so he could take care of his nieces and nephew. He didn't expect to meet the flamboyant nanny, and surely didn't expect to fall in love. But, was he ready to get out of his closeted life? And would Slayde be willing to put up with consequences of dating a deeply closeted man?

I really enjoyed reading this book. The story is simple, without any melodrama or unnecessary angst. It doesn't mean there's no conflict; but, they are dealt in adult manner. No big misunderstanding, no cheating, no weird plot. The angst is developed slowly around whether or not Drake is willing to come out.

The characters are very likable, and the kids are kids, not adults in kids' bodies. Some readers may find it boring and too sappy, but not me. It's heartwarming and sweet. Oh, the title does mean something.

Oh, this is part of Sean Michael's plot-intensive stories, not his sex-a-lot line.

I didn't like this book as much as I expected. Frankly, it was an exhausting read... The writing was all jumbled..I was often confused about whose POV I was reading at the moment..add to that the constant dialogue/chatter without reference as to who's talking..annoying.

I felt really sorry for Slayde. I don't know if he was a saint or a masochist..Look after three kids under the age of 6, do all the housework - all alone? For minimal wages? I don't care how close of a family friend he was - who would agree to slave for three little kids with no help and no days off, for a whole year? It totally felt like Mindy was working him into the ground. She could at least hire a babysitter before leaving, so Slayde would have some time for himself.

On that note, is it really done? Would US military deploy a single mother of three for a whole year? To Afghanistan? Doesn't she get some slack?

Drake's situation wasn't believable as well..he just quits his job as a cop - and comes to help with kids..while prior to that, he barely visited his sister.

While the circumstances that brought the heroes together aren't really plausible, after that it was nice enough..though too much kid routine. I would have liked the book if not for awkward writing..and overuse of words 'fuck', 'stud', 'hot'.. that was annoying.

ps. How old were the heroes, anyway? Their age is never mentioned..

To read this you must love kids, you must turn to sweet sticky goo at the site of small demonic offspring and own the ability to laugh at their noise. Me - not so much. When in line to get that maternal instinct gene I got distracted playing with kittens and puppies. So no thanks.
If diabetic please keep medication to hand.

The whole story reads as the day-to-day minutiae of having kids. I repeat - no thanks!

I couldn't get my head around the premise (widowed) mother of three kiddies deployed (at least she wasn't killed off!)
Her brother who never visits, not even for her husband's funeral, suddenly gives up his job as a cop (having wanted to be a cop since age eight) to come look after her kids. This despite her not asking or needing him too. And him now being without employment for a year.

The Manny of the title has a Masters in Child Ed. yet gave up his life to run after his friends kids. No idea how old the kids are (or the adults) but work that out to be for at least four years. No days off, no break, no support, literally eating and sleeping standing up, no-one to cover. I can't imagine he'd be paid much.
He has a masters, he lives as a skivvy. I'm so not buying this.

Had to keep reminding myself that dear perfect Minds was off serving her country despite being ever available by skype, and was not an advantage taking, child abandoning B*!ch. Seriously, all the details, in this house everything is cooked from scratch; sandwich bags must be home-made, non-plastic, re-useable. Because, as we're often told 'she's the boss' And I got SO mad

A few inconsistencies all things gluten-free one minute then the next their ordering pizza and guzzling a six-pack - and apparently getting drunk out of mind on one shared six pack! Strict bed times change with an odd specificity towards the end.
And mood swings from no-where that didn't make sense. The kids aren't precocious but as the story continued I kept adjusting my impression of their ages as younger.

So plot and premise aside the writing. Um that didn't work for me either. Words spoken are invariably followed by internal thoughts. Everyone thinks the same way and are completely interchangeable, there's often no way of telling them apart. There's a lot of overused words 'turd' 'stud' 'fuck' and endearments that are sprinkled into every sentence like confetti 'oh honey' and 'love' and 'baby' they call each other baby, then there was the baby baby and the babies dolls were called baby and OH BABY NO MORE! and they all talk like this manny-friends-the boss-the straight passing cop, it meant I regularly had no idea who was talking and to whom, adult or child. It bubbled along and felt very young and jumbled. Plus

It's cutesy and sweet and many will enjoy it. 1* awful seems a harsh rating when I did finish it, but I spent most of the reading time rolling my eyes and searching for something better to read. By the end it was sheer determination that got me to finish.

This was cute, maybe a bit too sweet for my tastes. Could have stood a better edit, too many "in to" when it should have been "into", and then "anymore" when it should have been "any more", a name changed once, and some sexual position confusion. Words were used too much, like "stud" and "turd", and I HATE when people refer to each other as "Lover". A lot of "baby" going on, too. Also, once or twice, I wasn't sure who was talking. I'm not sure if Drake ever said I love you to Slayde, or if it was Slayde saying it every time.

But I can give this story props for one thing- kids that actually acted age appropriate, and weren't either too cute or overly precocious. I did have to guess at their ages though, it wasn't til near the end when the oldest started kindergarten and it was stated the next one was a year younger. Still not sure if the baby was two or three though. Actually, I also have no idea how old Slayde, Drake, or Mindy were either!

The combination of an openly gay nanny taking care of a newly widowed then deployed Army medic, a deeply closeted ex-cop, three super-cute and utterly exhausting kids, and a wonderful sense of humor that shone on every page made this book a total winner for me. Add to this the slowly building relationship as Drake struggles with admitting to anyone that he's gay and Slayde's inner fight against falling for the sudden intruder in his safe world, and you've got some interpersonal conflict that will keep you entertained for pages. And once they do discover that "post 8:30 time" when the kids are in bed can be a lot of fun, there is a lot of very hot bedroom activity as well.

Slayde is a "super nanny" in its truest sense. Everything is home made, the kids' schedules are varied, fun for them, and (almost) always on track, he knows what to do in an emergency, and he loves them to pieces. They call him Uncle Slayde, and he keeps them safe and gives them the love and care they need. He is also very, very out and definitely doesn’t want to fall for the "big, mean leather daddy", his best friends' initial description of Drake. Not that he has a say, he is soon lost to the man's charms and I suffered with him as he realizes it will all be over once the kids mother returns to being a full-time mother.

Drake is a bad-ass undercover cop, and he wasn't only undercover in his job. He's also so deeply in the closet that "he doesn’t know there's a door". He is also very loyal; even though he hasn't been around his sister and her kids a lot, when she is deployed after being recently widowed by losing her also military husband he quits his job to be with the kids. By the way, I found the thought appalling that the military would be heartless enough to send her off, forcing her to leave three kids behind after they already lost their father; I mean, really! Anyway, Drake starts off pretty clueless about the actual work it takes to take care of three kids under 6, and learns by doing. He jumps right in, and the humor and banter between him and Slayde, when they weren't trying to posture and win the "I am closer to the kids" battle made me laugh out loud quite a few times.

Without much drama, containing almost no angst, and with some very funny and sweet moments, this book isn’t for those looking for an action/adventure, lots of BDSM (yes, Sean Michael can write a great story without a touch of D/s) or page-turning suspense. But if you're looking for a very human story with mishaps that happen to parents every day, if you want to know what it feels like to take care of three young kids 24/7, and if you’re looking for a sweet read with a wonderful, even meaningful ending, then you will probably adore this book as much as I did.

A Hearts On Fire Review

THREE & A HALF STARS--Sean Micheal's "Mannies Incorporated" is sweet, contemporary, light, no-low angst MM Romance. It's also my first Sean Michael read...ever! He's an author I've been meaning to get to so I'm not aware of the 'Sean Michael' standard.

But this story was a sugar cookie, if comparison is necessary. Sugar cookies are not my favorite but they do in a pinch. They are classic and sugary good.

When in-the-closet former cop, Drake moves from California to Texas to help out with his widowed sister's children (all 5 and under, *gulp*) and their male, openly gay nanny, Slayde. Drake's sister is away for a year in the US Army.

Oh did I mention that Uncle Drake really has not spent long periods of time around children including his nephew and nieces? And Drake is so far in the closet a lighted map couldn't get him out? Can you smell the friction?

Surprisingly, there wasn't much friction. The kids are adorable. The year passes by quickly with some ups and down. Reading about these two men fall in love was a joy. Slayde helps Drake find the closet door, his prostate...and the joys of having a relationship.

Drake sees its better to not hide who he is, Slayde gets a lover and the reader gets a satisfyingly sweet HEA with a few giggles along the way.

Sean Michaels makes sex seem so much fun! (Though when you find yourself blowinng rasberries on the tip of your lover's cock during a blowjob, you might have been around the kids a bit too much.)
:)

This was a sweetheart of a book, with three cute kids, and a nice matchup - tough, in-the-closet cop & a very froufrou nanny.

I started this expecting a lot of sex, pwp and some bdsm, like the other Sean Michael books I've read, but it's got no bdsm, and there's actually a nice slow buildup here.

It needs an editor for typos, but this is really a treat and the best of the last 5 books I've read from this author.

I really did enjoy this story. It was such a brilliant read for me and I loved the sweetness of the couple. The issue I had with this was Drake never said the three words that Slayde had said so many times. I was a bit lost when he was admitting it internally and not saying it out loud. I had to wonder if I skipped part of the story.

Saying that though, I did love both the MC's. The kids were adorable and I loved Mindy. I thought the contrast between the men was good and I just adored the sweet sappy moments they had in this book. Especially when it came to the kids. It really did melt my hear a couple of times. Even when they were bickering I found it cute.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone who likes a sappy read. Beware if sappy is not your thing. :)

Just found this review in the comments section?? Obviously my first attempt at posting a review went slightly wrong!

This is my first review on this site, so be gentle! After reading many angst-ridden novels in this genre, I really wanted something light and feel-good, and this novel hit the button. Very cute, very domestic, nothing bad happens, no angst, happy-ever-after. Just what I needed.
Reading this on my Kindle, there are a couple of grammatical errors, proof reading required, too many swear words in the wrong places, but that didn't detract from the story. Not much of a plot, but as a "Feel-Good" novel, it hit the spot

I think the story is really cute but it needs a bit of editing. There's definitely the overuse of a few words which after awhile becomes redundant and annoying. There was also, and this may sound funny, way too much kissing. I felt like I wanted to hand them some chapstick.

Aside from that, the kids are adorable and I like how each of them have different relationships with each "uncle".
Drake and Slayde are great together, once they get their rough start out of the way.

Drake just shows up at his sister's house when she gets deployed. It Sher first deployment after her husband has passed so it's quite emotional for everyone. Drake thinks he has a right to step in and all over Slayde, but Slayde is having none of it. He been part of the "family" for years and is trained in every way for the job.

I like the premises of the series. This is basically just the build up for what's to come. I can't wait to see them all getting on together in their new lives.

Ah, I so needed something reliably angst-free and sweet. This certainly fit the bill. Adorable, happy, stress-free sweetness.

Sure, Drake was rather prickly for the longest while – but this makes sense in context of his background. On the whole this was just cute and comforting times ten.

Awkward name mix-up in the epilogue. I sat and wondered, “Trevor? Who’s Trevor?” I will go out on a limb and assume that should be Travis? This wasn’t the only editing miss but the only one that really gave me pause.

Aside from that, well, I never like it when lovers use “baby” as an endearment (in a story). But in a household where one of the kids is referred to as baby regularly and all the kids’ dolls are called baby too? It’s just wrong. But that’s peanuts.

Happy, nice feeling.
I’m glad there’s a second volume with, unless I am much mistaken, new protagonists?

I enjoyed this story and it was a nice change from all the short Christmas reads I have been reading lately. There is really no angst and over dramatic stuff that happens, just a nice story about a man who is the caregiver to three small children who slowly builds a romance with Drake who comes to help out even though he is clueless on how to raise children. I liked the kids in the story, they were written well and not the obnoxious bratty ones you sometimes get in stories. This was just a simple story about their lives and how Slayde and Drake learned to take care of them together. I am glad that the author wrote an epilouge because I was afraid that it would just end and wouldn't find out what the future would hold.

I'm not a huge fan of kids in books, I have enough of my own I don't need to read about them en masses, but this was a cute, light story with a heap of kids.
Slayde is a nanny for Mindy, a single mother( widow) deployed to Afgahanistan. Her brother Drake decides he needs to be more present in the kids lives and quites his job as a cop, picks up and moves to TX to help.
Slayde and he don't hit it off right away, misunderstandings and a little bit of wanting to be 'in the right' makes it difficult, but after a few days and then weeks they settle into a routine.
Then of course, this is a Sean Michael book so routine turns into sex..then love, but it's just temporary? Right?
Angst free, light and easy read for fans of kids in books and coming out.

Absolutely loved! Slayde and Drake were amazing together. Drake came off as a bit of a jerk in the beginning (ex cop/biker) but quickly got into the routine with the kids, respecting all the work Slayde did, and seeing him as more than just a male babysitter, but family. There is a a lot about the three kids and their antics, and it may be too much for some people but I loved it all. The pacing is PERFECT, their coming together believable and well done. I almost couldn't believe this is a Sean Michael book because there was none of that silly repetition during sex, and no 'Me. Mine. Yours' business. Would have been a full five stars, but I felt it started to drag slightly around Mindy's return. I would definitely read this book again. Off to Book 2!

Sean Michael is one of those must read authors for me. I love his books and the way he can really get to the heart and soul of his characters. He also writes some of the most erotically sexy books released, so I’m always anxious to read his stories and see what he’s got in store for me as a reader.

Since the blurb does an excellent job at describing the story, I’m not going to rehash a lot of it. Drake’s widowed sister is being deployed out of the country. She is going to be gone on tour of duty for about a year and is upset about leaving her young children. Drake lives across country and once he hears the worry and sadness in his sister’s voice, he immediately leaves his home and job to stay with the children…all without telling her he’s going to do this. When he arrives to her house weeks later, he’s surprised when the live in nanny, Slayde, has things under control and is not exactly bringing out the welcome wagon because he’s there.

Slayde has been a friend of the family and has taken care of the children since they were born. He’s upset when Drake shows up unannounced and looks like he’s the one who is going to take over. But after they talk with Drake’s sister and come up with a compromise, both men work hard and take care of the children together as a team.

I really loved this book! Slayde and Drake had a chemistry together that burned hotter and more intense as the book progressed. Even though they become friends and try to ignore their attraction to each other, they really start to form a strong family connection both with the children and with each other. I liked watching their relationship grow and flourish with each other as well as their relationship with the children. Watching them go through growing pains and the ups and downs of family life was not only realistically portrayed, but it was also heartwarming and really resonated with me as a reader.

I thought this was a very well rounded, beautifully written romance with only the humor and sexiness that Mr. Michael’s writes. The love between Drake and Slayde was truly lovely and I loved the way they really worked as a team to take care of the kids. If you are looking for a heartwarming, sexy romance with two amazing heroes and some precious kids then Mannies Incorporated is definitely the book for you! Highly Recommended!

Slayde is the nanny to Mindy's three kids and has become their temporary guardian while Mindy is in Afghanistan. Everything was running smoothly (as smoothly as a house with three kids under 5 years of age could be) when Mindy's brother, Drake, showed up. Drake is a cop and in the closet. He just wanted to help out his sister and be with hi family. What he didn't consider was Slayde's loyalty to the kids or his loving personality.

I enjoyed this story very much. It felt real to me, what with the kids' behavior and the adults trying to survive it all and trying to find some time for themselves. There really is no drama, but there was a lot of hot chemistry and humor. The kids were great, they reminded me of my own. The main characters were adorable as well as the secondary characters - I found them all to be fun and easily relatable. It was great to see how each character grew throughout the story, especially Drake who came to accept himself and love Slayde openly. I appreciated the epilogue greatly since I was already wondering what would become of these two in the future. The writing was good, although there were some errors in spelling, but all around a great, entertaining read.

Steamy, romantic, and nicely simple "out-for-you" macho police top and more flamboyant bottom

This enjoyable, relatively gentle, sweet, but plenty romantic and heated story included an "out-for-you" plot which was very simple but still worth a read. The closeted, macho, police top playing off of a flamboyant bottom can be rather endearing or very irksome, and overall I found this treatment to be somewhere in the middle - enjoyable but not overly compelling.

This author always includes a nice helping of erotic heat, but also enough plot and character development to entice readers who like some story with their steamy romance. Overall, this is another good read for fans of Sean Michael - simple but entertaining story and characters along with a decent helping of straightforward sizzle.

The kids are important characters in their own right - something that doesn't always work for me in a heated romance but, in this case, they add the right amount of texture to the setting and budding relationship.

This is a "high-quality-feel-good"-book.

It's angst-free, funny and sexy. Ingredients:

Grumpy deeply closeted sexy leather cop with a golden heart
Openly gay super manny - so sweet that I want to adopt him
Three cute kids
Mother on assignment
Gluten-free cooking
Gay hairdresser friends who are super supportive
Mother on assignment

The book lives through the interaction between the characters, the dialoges are really funny and the characters so very entertaining.
It's a book like a good hot cup of chocolate with whipped cream on top - sweet and oh so good.

Defintely a feel-good-reread for me.

This was eh. It wasn't bad, and the story was pretty OK, but I just didn't connect for some reason. Slayde was a cool manny, and Drake was a good uncle when he stopped being a jerk. He meant well, but he irked me a bit at the beginning. Luckily it settled by the end for me. 3 stars
